I hardly ever used her in ME1 and only used her on her mission in ME2
Why do the majority of people prefer Tali?

Miranda is the best looking but she is committed to Cerberus and i don't like that.
In the end of the game, she sees TIM for what he trully is and sides with you, so she quits Cerberus.
You can see troughout the game if she's on your squad that she's got a good notion of right and wrong. It's just that she owes much to TIM and it's hard for her to distrust him. But if you stick with her, she rewards you in a big way when you decide to blow up the collector base.
As for all the Tali love, I don't get it either. I feel like she's a little sister type character to my Shepard. Like someone else on this thread said, I think Tali fans are just very vocal.
What worries me is if they give the people at Bioware the wrong impression. I don't like the teenage feelling I get from Tali's romance.
I prefer the feelling of love between equals I get in romancing Miranda and I'd be very disapointed if I weren't able to pursue my relationship with her in ME3. Besides, she's an awesome squad mate. Her Overload, Warp and class bonus are great. Her Warp is particularly useful against Harbinger.
I think we're vocal and there are a ton of us.

IMO, whatever love between Tali and Shepard may exist would be largely platonic. I don't see the obsession with seeing her face. It could be very intense love, but if I was Shepard and loved Tali I wouldn't risk her unless medical technology had advanced to the point where her immune system could be acclimated to normal standards.

I think that, at this point, if you're arguing over the Talimance, or even posting on a thread about Talimancing, you're a nerd. We're all nerd here.

It's her personality and how believable her interactions are with Shepard.
Everyone else it's like, "lolz hey Shep ur hot lets bone."
I must be living in a different world because I didn't get that vibe from Miranda or Jack at all. I did get that vibe from Tali. Infact, Kelly will specifically mention that Tali wants to jump your bones(okay, thats a bit of an exaggeration) right after you recruit her. So even Kelly got that vibe from Tali.
Are you insane? or are you just talking out of your ass?!? You didn't get the feeling that SuZe just wanted to bang you right away, but you did from Tali.
I can't believe I read that.
Tali tells Shepard she likes him. You have the option to turn her down or pursue her.
Jack doesn't like Shepard. You have the option to tell her you want to **** her or that you care about her.

I don't think that you ever actually see her body. It could be scabby or scaly for all we know.
I don't know if that would necessarily be a bad thing for this lot. She already has chicken feet, goat legs, sloth fingers, and the face of who knows what so what are a few scabs or scaly or build-up really?
Maybe we should ask ourselves: What traits do I look for in a woman? Does her body really matter that much? For those who are married: what kind of person did you marry? Is she the blonde bombshell/ Kim Kardashian you fantasized over from high school? Or did you just fall completely in love with your wife/ girlfriend because of her wonderful personality? If not, then most likely, Tali isn't for you, and there is nothing wrong with that. You just find other things more important in women, or you just want a one night stand.
I don't. What cinched it was her last comment "I've watched you for so long, and I never though you would ever see past this. (points to her mask/helmet)" Thats probably why people like Tali so much, and why I prefer her as a LI in ME2, because they can see past all that she is because underneath is the only genuinely nice person whom I could trust... Just don't tell my wife

people like tali because they just do. Why question their judgment?
is there a "why do the majority of people perfer Miranda" thread? I have yet to see one, or for Liara or ash

I look for a lack of penis when it comes to my women.

I LOLed so hard. Not too crude at all. Nevermind that its true for any guy bringing a girl home and she ends up having a penis.. you're outta luck. You might as well go find a chicken, tape a mini-flashlight under its beak, and put a veil over its head and call it Quarian.

I was browsing through some of the polls and an astonishing number of people seem to prefer tali as a squad mate and LI. Someone fill me in. What am I missing? Of all of the options, what sets her apart? Imo, if you wanted looks, you would go for miranda. Jack had the most interesting back story, I thought. I dont like Ash at all. So of all the ladies...why?
I can't figure it out either. I like Tali, she's a cool character, but she's not god's gift to Mass Effect.

I like her because her visual appearance and personality weren't taken to any of the extremes of usual female characters. Miranda's a good example of a visual extreme. Tali's personality and general visual form occupy those middle ground zones, and there's just something nicer about that. There's something approchable yet fun about the character, and I think it has to do with that middle ground approach. She has some extreme ideas, but they're counter balanced (geth opinions) and the majority are right there in the middle zipping around. Her only true extreme is that she becomes attached to Shepard not through owing him, but through trusting him and becoming loyal - not in game mechanics but in the benefit of the doubt she gives him even in actions she might have doubts on.
Ditto.

To synthesize it, she's more believable than some of the other characters... aside from being a Quarian, and all.

I like Tali mainly because of how much she has changed in the first game. She started out as this weak, talkative, young girl who looked to please Shepherd in any way possible. IN ME2, she still has a little bit of that, but you know she has been through a lot since the first game. Now she is a bit more mature and a bit colder.
It is hard not to like someone who has been with you since the first game, and is loyal enough to come and help even after all the changes both of you have been through. Compared to Ashley and Kaiden, Tali is the best character from the first game. I mean even after everything, she is still on your side. Where are the other two? Pouting over the fact that you are working for cerberus. At least Liara and Wrex have a reason to not come back.
So there you go. Her loyalty, her progression as a person, and the fact that Kaiden and Ashley ****** me off, are the reasons that I like Tali so much.

Plus, she hates Cerberus to begin with, but she'll still work with you. She finished her mission on Haestrom, an important one where she studied the rapidly aging star, lost all of her squad(except for one, depending on your choices), tied up the job and still joined you. Ash didn't even have that much of a job on harvest, all she was there to do was make sure the planetary guns got installed. She didn't even have that much reason to be pissed at me, especially after I saved her. At least Tali was grateful.
Tali is a great person, plus she's from the first game, and it's only natural to move from good friend to dating in the sequel. She's really cute and shows innocence, but doesn't take any crap at the same time. She's really caring for others and wants to make you happy, even at her own expense. She's also got a really cute voice. Hell, she's even got style. Her suit looks awesome.
Miranda is hot. There's no getting past that. However, under the veil wasn't really my kind of woman.
Jack is Jack.
