I'm gonna play devil's advocate here though and say that I don't want to see what she looks like. My character is attracted to her, and I enjoy her personality and story. That's enough for me. Even if she turned out very attractive, it would spoil it somewhat for me.

That moment would be the ultimate let-down.  Not in terms of whether she's beautiful or not, just in terms of the mystery being solved.  After that, the tension of the unknown would be lifted and there would never be a way to recapture it.  I hope they never show her face.

She's got an innocence about her, she is definitely another Liara.

Im a huge fan of qarian and tali. I was disapointed there was no romance with her in the 1. Now, why :
-she is mysterious, never see her face, or any other member of her race in me1
-she have a very sad background (few survivor, created the evil race of geth in ME 1, always on the run, no immune system...)
-cool accent (with her alien race, add to the "different" part)
-sexy armor
-sex is some kind of reward, she risk her life, you need maximum antibiotics etc... Add to the mysteries and to the forbidden fruit.

Whatever you say, forbidden fruit + mysteries + sadness + different = exciting. It's just human. Now, you know why romeo & juliet is one of the greatest love story in the world.

Ash is closed minded, never liked alien, always think about past, and i don't like her face. Liara is naive, and sounds too young. Miranda is loyalist to an organisation i hate. Jack, well i am always attracted by crazy girl, so i found her very attractive, but it's only for sex :D

My thoughts on Jack, Miranda and Tali
Jack: She's that **** on the outside and a innocent girl on the inside. I feel much more like a friend trying to guide her to do the right things, not a romance.

Tali: The "teen-age crush" and a kind, interesting character, I understand why many people like her, but I feel she's more of a little-sister in a way, or a good friend.

Miranda: Some people doesn't like Miranda because they think she is a bimbo or a cerberus drone.
She is hot, she actually has a nice backstory and feels insecure about herself (not at first glance), and she resigns from Cerberus if you play it like I did (Which makes me feel a bit safer about a long term-romance). the romance also feels like it is the most "canon" like romance.

I should stop before I talk about Miranda like Tali fanboys talk about Tali. I have to say I would rather have romanced Tali if Miranda didn't have a good backstory imo.

PS: Always fun watching people say Miranda's face ugly on some forums :]

I know I cant, lol

But I never gushed over 'dem hips' as I prefer to admire the assets a little higher up :P  So Tali never really stood out as attractive to me, I found her the more 'plain' character looks wise (meaning body shape wise, as we dont know the looks :P).  With me it really was how her character was written that drew me, despite the looks and physical limitations she is the most romanceable character emotionally.

Miranda does turn out to be likeable, but some of her choices in her mission, and alot of her comments, make me question her long term loyalty/motives, so no go there.

Jack, again develops well, but i cant see any kind of long term relationship between her and Shep.

As per Tali vs. the ME1 romances, to me they seemed more of a 'in the heat of the moment' romance that wouldnt last anyway.  That + how they treated their love brought back from the dead?  Its good by them hello Tali.

Personally cant wait for the ME3 consequences, thinking it will be a 'showdown' where I can tell Lira to shove off Im staying with Tali :P

I didn't romance Miranda and she left Cerberus, as well.  I don't know if it's tied to loyalty or not (course she'll die if she's not loyal, so it's a moot point).

She doesn't have to be romanced to make her leave Cerberus, but I just said it because it made me think she had plans to stay with me instead of Cerberus, just a theory ofc :)

Tail is awesome thats why everyone loves her. If you played the loyalty mission for her you would know why. If you played it and still dont see the light then you have no heart.

When ever I see miranda, I just kind of wanna have sex, I'm not really interested in her as a person, I just crave her body. Tali on the other hand, I find interesting and funny, she's an enjoyable character. I think that is the difference.

Anyone else get the feeling quarians might be absolutely beautiful (perhaps even the best looking race)? It would be so ironic that their race was doomed to wander around in enviromental suits and helmets.

Ironic might not be the best word, but I hope you get what I was trying to say. It would seem very bioware to pull something like this and it would be epic when you finally saw talis face.

I know what you mean...I dont know if I want to see her face or not. Like others have said I kinda have my own tali built up in my head.

Well then I guess I must have no heart because I did it, and while I didn't think it was abysmal, I still prefer Miranda to any of the other possible LIs, and second only to Garrus as a character overall.

I went a little far...I mean it doesnt force you to love tali but it should make you feel sorry for her. When her father dies it just makes you want to replace her lost love with yourself.

I think you're going to get to see her in ME3. Each game they've given you just a little bit more. From close to nothing in ME1 to a full silhouette in ME2. I haven't finished the realtionship yet, but as I heard you removed her helmet even.

I trust Bioware to do a good job, either way.

well she does seem to go into a berserker rage when you take her helmet off if you get my drift ;)

Miranda was an incredibly cliche character archetype to me. And the fact that she seemed DESIGNED for a romance turned me off greatly. I did her loyalty quest and that was it.

I actually think that Tali is the paragon romance, given the way the whole thing is written.

The fact we're all here discussing this proves we're all nerds.

What I don't get is why do people care who prefers who? I mean like, the fact that everybody pretty much likes one character or another means a success on Biowares part.

The BG2 references made me sad that Minsc wasn't a romance option in BG2. Imo Tali was the best Maleshep romance option. Femsheps get some pretty awesome choices with Garrus & Thane but Tali is the clear winner for Malesheps.

I think people aremeant to be attracted to Miranda because she acts all tough but in reality suffers from low self esteem since she was designed to be perfect and believes any success she has is not her own

I think its because since you don't know how she looks you get drawn into her by her personality, nice trade off.

Loads of reasons, I've listed in another thread (regarding the emotional impact of her recruit/loyalty mission). But to summarize:

-Tali best personifies the world of ME1 (moreso than Liara or Ashley.) She's the Rising Action/Guide of the story.

-She is the most interesting character due to her mystery, culture, and femininity

-In a futuristic world of science and technology, she's the expert

-In ME2, the drama we get is the interest we have in this character -- she's the most fleshed out so far -- as we fight for her, save her life and friends, and then protect her legacy against her family

-Her recruit mission is the most interesting level design, game play, strategy, and pulse pounding music/action (from the OST I'm listening to right now.)

-Her loyalty mission: As Muzyka said "Emotionally Engaging"; this is what he meant. It is about politics, a court case, family, war and peace, promises, love and dreams, regret, violence, and lying to protect a scared, innocent girl who loves her father. It was a work of art. (What, they just threw in Morrigan, Loghain, Kal and Aghdashloo for fun? Now you want to see what happens to these characters again.) Bring Legion for even more tension.

-Attraction to Tali isn't about looks: it's about her as a character, a guide, and a person. Quarians are just humans encased in suits, unable to experience the world, with an entire mysterious, mature culture of regret and conflict. That is interesting.

-She's fleshed out more than any other character, even Garrus. This is why these two continue to be the top two characters.

The only thing I don't like in this case is where Shepard must play the straight guy, because that's what he is. If he could just be more expressive and sensitive on how amazing she is, then the romances would be more than just some singular, static statement of one character expressing themselves and Shepard nodding his head. (Ditto with Samara and Miranda.)

Miranda is likeable, but Tali is just well Tali and the voice actress really sells her personality and portrayal. I really can't see my Shepherd going anywhere else after Tali.
