Even if the best armors in the game come from preordering from Gamestop or buying the collector's edition, we should not fall for this kind of manipulation by game companies.
While you may see this as manipulation, the company see it as another way to make money. That's what this is about. Sorry man, but they're not in it for the art, for the experience, for the love of the game, they're in it to make money.
I do stand up comedy and when I first started it was in a little pizza place. When people weren't showing up and buying drinks/ food, they stopped it, why? They don't care if I am up there to be funny, they care about people buying their pizza, their drinks, spending MONEY in THEIR store, and if people weren't showing up for an open mic night, then that area can be put to better use.
The idea is similar here. The marketing of exclusive armors is a VERY clever way to make money. It's not manipulation, it's intelligent marketing. Are you going to go off about WoW too? They put the Night Elf MoHawk grenade in the game, and Pepsi makes 2 flavors of Mt. Dew based on Wow. No one is "Falling" for this. You make the decision to get these armors, don't blame other companies for the way YOU spend your money. What about DLC like bonus missions? Is that another way to trick people? Why didn't they just include it in the original game? Because not everyone is going to want that kind of experience.
This is an INDUSTRY, these people are here to make money and that's to bottom line. I am glad they are doing this, it shows that the gaming industry is thriving and doing well. Even if video games are an ART, they are still a way of making money.
