I have seen users that don't have the game registered in their account and their characters are being updated. It's my idea (and very possibly real) that some of those users are using pirated copies of the game, so i suggest that a player profile is not updated for those users that don't have the game registered in their account just like they can't post in some forums here.

Also I believe that those pirates are a burden on the servers here, and are possibly making things slower for legitimate users.

Agree totally. The CC-only period is over.

I support this as well. My own character hasn't been updated for almost 2 days now.. Remove the unnecessary server stress.

Um. problem there. I registered and it does not show me as registered... because of bugs. Some of us who are unregistered? Aren't.

What I mean is that those users that don't have the game registered in their account simply would not be able to update their player profile (items, quests logs, and so on).

I understand that there can be problems with registering the game to your account, but then leaving has it is it means that anyone (even pirates!) can update their player profile and make use of the site just as much as legitimate users.

What about people like me that are gonna get the game, but are not able to bum rush the stores to grab it immediately after it hits the shelves? Posted Image I personally have to hope I get it for christmas, or my birthday. (Jan 13) Am I gonna be discriminated against? Posted Image

You misunderstand me, it's not like you can't use the social site, it's just that whatever character profile you have will not be updated to reflect what you have done in-game unless you have registered the game in your account. See?

Just think a minute, those that are playing the game without registering the game on this site are quite possibly playing pirated copies of the game, so what I am saying is that those players that have not registered copies on this site simply cannot have their character updated.

Sorry if it's a bit confusing at first.

I agree that a priority modifyer has be used that puts registered game users in front of non-registered CC users. haven't seen an update on my profile for more than a day now - only my achievements update, but my character info seems to be stuck at the very beginning.

Ahh, that was clearer, thanks! Posted Image It would indeed look suspicious for someone to be playing the game without registering 1st. I misunderstood at first & thought you were talking about those of us that couldn't get the game within the 1st week of game release. Posted Image

How does one register the game with his Social.Bioware -account? I have a legitimate copy and I'm not sure if I've done that or nor.

No I didn't say that CC users couln't update their profile, what i meant is that there are users playing the game (questing, achieving, getting equipment) without having the game registered in their profile. If you look at it there is quite the possibility that those users are using pirated copies, and as such i suggest that users be unable to have their characters updated to reflect in-game actions unless thei have the game registered in their account.

I subscribe to Gamefly and I currently have DA out and plan on keeping it for quite some time.  How would what you suggest be fair to people such as myself?

Agreed! My character is taking ages to update. If pirated versions receive updates, that's silly and should be avoided.

You have already registered the game, but if you hadn't you just had go to

http://social.biowar...es_register.php

And register the game in there.

From 'profile' in the menu on the left, there is a 'register games' option.

I can agree with this, now that i'm grasping it correctly. No glory for pirates! Posted Image

I think they need to fix the registration process first for those of us who can't register their games - then perhaps a system where registered users could request an update i.e. get a chance to opt into a higher priority queue or something (with limits obviously - maybe can be used only once a day or a certain number of times a month) and un-registered users don't have that option until they register...

But I think the main queue needs to be fair to everyone and based on something like timestamps and not ranked on something arbitrary like how often your profile is viewed or how many people are on your friends list...

This!  Non-registered users can still use forums or browse profiles/projects/etc. but their character pages would not update until registered.

The issue with the social site servers is being worked on by the development team. It is a complicated multi-tier infrastructure involving a couple of hundred thousand clients (your console/pc) , the DAO database servers, and the application servers for this website. The infrstructure is under a great deal of strain and I am sure they are looking at all means to optimize the process and cut down on the server load.

My own suggestion was to make connecting to DAO servers on-demand instead of automatic. There is no reason for that much traffic. I would suspect that the CC doesn't generate that much traffic since the game was release.
