Miranda was a really good character. She had every reason to be arrogant (because of her near perfection) but generally interacted with everyone in a respectful manner, meaning she was grounded. She was obviously hot, and calm and focused under pressure.

However, Tali is generally a very boring character. She's also very possibly completely ugly (can't disprove this). Plus as a LI, it would be a terrible life in reality. She's behind a suit when you're with her at all times, no physical contact at any time (whether its holding hands or laying in bed together, there's always an enviro-suit in the way), and anytime you want to have sex, it takes preparation, and then she's SICK for a week after that (sort of kills it if you're in the mood at 3 am). The only reason she was made a LI was because of community outcry. However, it really wouldn't work in real life.

P.S. I don't hate Tali, and don't care whether or not everyone loves her. I just really don't see it working as a LI in the real world, and her character wasn't all that spectacular.

Samus is only interesting because of her job and Morrigan more or less just exists to be contrary, but otherwise good picks.

Samus is a silent protagonist so it's not like she's interesting because of her personality, the reason is irrelevant, the fact remains she is an interesting character in the manner Link is.

That's the only positive she'll ever get out of me!

Morrigan is still an interesting character, even if all she ever does is disagree with you.

I wouldn't say Link is very interesting either, nor is Mario. Nintendo is not really known for their interesting protagonists, good game though, and Samus being revealed as a woman was big at the time.

Morrigan is still an interesting character, even if all she ever does is disagree with you.

Her upbringing is interesting, her character itself I'd simply call cat-kicking evil. If it's unpleasant then she's for it, regardless of how many problems it will cause for your team and mission.

Femshep doesnt count, everyone's is different.,Tali- boring, Samus- sits in a suit all day shooting things, dont know what her personality is like also ugly, Sheik- not hot, dont know what her personality is like, Morrigan- B*tch and I dont know who the rest are so I'm still not convinced.

I can't believe someone would make a topic with such a bold statement and have no actual reasoning, just saying "she is awesome."

Miranda is a good character, but the best female character in ANY video game? Far from it.

Well your mileage may vary, some Links I do consider interesting, mainly Ocarina of Time Link and Link's Awakening Link due to what they go through.
Samus is similarily defined by the events around her and that's what makes her interesting to me, not just that she's a woman in a power suit; those events have always been unique and thrilling.

Well except for Metroid Fusion, which never happened.
Never. Happened.

In my opinion, the biggest problem is:
They are all plain ugly to me. Even Miranda, maybe she has a good figure, but her face is just not attractive to me at all.

What are you? Dull? That only makes her more interesting, the character is played in a myriad of ways and they're all played solid.

Opinion opinion opinion. I don't need to convince you, I just proved you wrong.

Video game females tend to be interesting as a result of delivery over other factors. More often than not. They overall fall victim to the single issue personality inherent in video game character psychology.

But it's tolerable so long as that issue doesn't become melodrama. Not a big fan.

That said, the VA doing Miranda didn't project tons of emotion. Probably intentional. Might even be capable of calling it subtle, but I'm not sensitive enough to inflection to infer such things.

Tali's VA projected tons of emotion.

If you mean to say there are a lot of dull, single-note female characters in videogames, sure there are. *cough*Lara Croft*cough*

But then there are a lot of dull, single-note male characters too. *cough*Master Chief*cough*

I think it's intentional. Miranda's personality is not emotionally extroverted, or at least that's how I interpretted the character. Either way, I think it worked reasonably well.

The Tali VA was excellent and portrayed Tali beautifully.

It's her ass. That's the only reason anyone likes her; she has the personality of a flag pole.

You obviously didn't invest any time and effort getting to know and understand her. She's intelligent, respectful and grounded. Her only big flaw is her trust in TIM and she makes up for it in a big way if she's with you in the end.

That doesnt even make sense, some people's characters could be interesting and some could be boring, some could be hot some could be ugly, some could be nice and some could be a b*tch. Just because your character is interesting doesnt mean everyones is.

Single issue personality in video game characters does not discriminate based on gender.

Some, like Lara Croft and Master Chief are mostly 0 issue characters.  Mostly avatars with a little dialogue.  Though under Crystal Dynamics, Lara Croft gained a personal narrative, which might elevate her a little.   But it's really senseless to try to evaluate characters in games that are not character driven.

I'm not sure how you could make Shepard dull even if you wanted to.
Well unless you used the default monkey face.

I'm guessing that was the whole point. Tali's a teenager and more emotional. Miranda is an adult and has been working for Cerberus for a long time, so she's inherently more controled and has to keep her feelings under wraps.
