That said, the VA doing Miranda didn't project tons of emotion. Probably intentional. Might even be capable of calling it subtle, but I'm not sensitive enough to inflection to infer such things.

Tali's VA projected tons of emotion.

I'm guessing that was the whole point. Tali's a teenager and more emotional. Miranda is an adult and has been working for Cerberus for a long time, so she's inherently more controled and has to keep her feelings under wraps.

"The whole point" is kind of a silly justification.  If Joker was intended to be what we expect of professional Navy officers and delivered perfectly, he wouldn't be half as interesting.

I don't dislike Miranda, personally.  I like maturity.  However, she was not my first stop while making the rounds of the ship to hear stories.

You know what Miranda's problem is?

She's supposed to be the Illusive Man's agent and your second in command and she never does anything! Sure she hangs around the crew meetings and barks at Jack but aside from that, where are the confrontations? Or the leadership? You're my XO, act like it and don't sit around your office all day shaking your ass for the camera.

That's basically everyone, though.

How the hell does Archangel even have the expertise to stare at those guns 24/7?  You're not an Engineer, what are you doing?

Some characters are perfectly professional military and naval officers, and that's what they're supposed to be, Joker just isn't one of them. Miranda just happens to be more of what we'd expect from her, that's her character, that's how she was written, so I'm glad that's how she is played.

Yeah I know everyone is guilty of it but as your supposed second-in-command Miranda just stands out more in her nothingness. The others have their roles for what they do and that isn't necesarrily on the ship. But if Miranda's so hardcore Cerberus she should show it more.

Which is completely and entirely tangential to whether or not she's interesting except with regards to the fact that it contributes to her being less.

It's fascinating that you're being defensive, but that's not really a defense for where we are in the discussion.

Like pointing out that Loghain was a complete tool.  Maybe someone can justify him for being a tool.  But that doesn't change the fact.

And what's up with the commander of the ship going on every single ground mission?  He even does the shopping.  What the hell is wrong with these people?

The post you were responding to was in reference for the acting being appropriate to her character, not whether it makes her interesting or not. That's the general point of the thread, but not so much of the post you were quoting. Not to mention being interesting might not be the only standard for best that would necessarily need to be looked at.

She has a rocking body but frankly there is something off in her face. Attractive but something is not quite right.

I think Liliana from DA:O is better but Aribeth from NWN is the best female character from a game.

It's the teeth.  I keep imagining her eating carrots.

They more or less just replicated her voice actress's face:

I happen to think it was a good choice. She looks attractive, but interesting, at least visually. Not sure that has much to do with if she's a good character however, perhaps you're looking for the Miranda's ass thread?

I figured you would be a rabbit teeth hater.

I don't hate Miranda. I rather like her. In a "she reminds me of me" kind of way.

Although if I was going to be objective I'd have to go with Mona Sax from Max Payne, or Boss from MGS3.

Mona Sax was riggen AWESOME.

I completely agree... I hate everyother female character so far... but Tali is just incredible <3. Plus Quarians are the coolest race anyway. She better be in your squad still in the third one or I'll be really pissed.

First of all, he deserves to be called Garrus, he is by far the best male charater so far... and second how do you know he's not qualified? Can you prove that? From what i've seen hes more that qualified.

I call him what is appropriate for the no-spoiler section.

I know he's not qualified because I was his college professor.  He failed my class.

But really, his technical expertise to that degree is not exactly compatible with his background.  His former profession is quite removed from weapons engineer.  I'm basing this on the idea that people specialize in education in the future.

If you had to pick a best female character ever, it'd either be Samus Aran or Alyx Vance. But really who cares what gender a character is, a cool one is a cool one :)

They didn't do a very good job in replicating her face, but that's one of my main gripes with the Mass Effect series. While they put a LOT of effort in designing the alien models, they cut a whole lot of corners in modeling the faces of humans in both games their expressions are all over the place, their eye control is completely wacko and eyelasjes don't always follow the eyelids, the textures stretch badly in some spots and the complexion is extremely flat. Let's not even talk about hair, which is quite unsightly and looks like a plastic wig.
Mostly, the whole human face model is a trainwreck both in it's 3D model and it's animations.

The only human "lady" that somewhat escaped the doom of the wacko face, almost like she had a completely different modeling (and she probably does, at least partially) is Jack, even if she still shares some of the flaws above, she does to a lesser extent.

So while Miranda is a quite interesting character, her actual looks above the neck, I'm afraid, leave much to be desired.  Of course she's still better than Ash, but that isn't that much of a consolation, since Ash is a walking and barking clay statue that has nothing "human" to her looks.

Are you serious? If she were any more generic, she'd be sold in bulk on a Costco shelf in monotone packaging.

She is awesome. She is very attractive, great ass, and even though some people say she is boring, if you get to know her she is actually quite interesting and I think her loyalty mission was the best because I really felt sorry for her and wanted to help her. Also the fact that she helped save your life is pretty great.

I can't help but like her just because the in game model was modeled after the actual voice actor who plays Sarah on the show "Chuck".  I don't however think she's the best female character ever made though.  I like Morrigan overall much better for multiple reasons.  From the ME universe, I don't understand the Tali hype.  I liked the character good enough, but she was simply an "interesting" character, that's about it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the human faces were absolutely horrible in ME.  The reason the aliens look so great is because we don't have anything as a reference for them, while we already know what to expect from human faces.  I think Anderson was by far the worst, with a tie between Kaiden and Ashley for second.

So true. I'm not sure about best female character ever, but Morrigan ties Viconia for best Bioware character ever.

No.

Also FemShep is the best.

I dont find it believable a woman can save the universe.

Cave men generally have trouble with that concept, yes.

Non-sense, women can drill you between the eyes at 100 meters, recite poetry, and protect a make-shift-reactor-turned-20-kiloton-bomb to the death, but saving the galaxy is a bit far-fetched.

That said, Miranda was a pleasant surprise. I expected a GM freak obsessed with making herself "perfect", but that was so far from the truth...and also, I like that she's clearly ruthless and very practical, but polite and even nice when you talk to her.
