I'm getting occasional bouts of 'stutter', where there's a minor stop and jump forward about every second. Mostly in Orzammar, where the other engine-related problems (dead guys not falling for 30 seconds-minute) also seem to appear most often.

HDMI cables obviously don't make a difference in frame rates...

All HDMI cables are exactly the same, from 3.99 to 50 quid. Its a digital signal thus is not affected by any sort of interference like analog signals are. Anyone forking out for "top-of-the-range" HDMI cables is seriously misinformed and has wasted a lot of money.

So using expensive HDMI cables will not make a difference to framerates or quality.

EDIT: Just to add, if your HDMI cable is not 1.3 spec then that would cause slower transfer rates, however almost all HDMI cables you buy now are 1.3c complient (due to 1080p needing more bandwidth), transferring at 10.2GB/s and are still under a tenner.

you guys are blah blahing. Let's wait for Aelor_NL to post the results of his little "experiments and see if anything changed. Then we can know for sure rather than bearing upon technicals.

I will try to test it today ... yesterday we were still having a go at Uncharted 2, we almost finished it ;).

Was also planning to change to a warrior type, probably a templar ... the mage type wasn't my thing ;) !

I'm running it on my Samsung 52" LCD trough an 65$ HDMI full HD 1080p... no, I don't think that's the problem...

Anyways... the other games looks awesome... is only this game... even Bayonetta move smoothly and better than this game...

The extent an hdmi cable can affect the transfer is that some cables might not work due to hdmi hand-shaking issues etc. No way a digital cable causes stutter like this.

I don't use HDTV nor LCD TVs. I'm old school so we can rule out ****ty cables or TVs.

I know right? lol The writing on any game is painful at times but you'd be surprised how juicy the colours can be ^^ Glare like in games such as Unreal Tournament 3 looks soo much better on old TVs than new ones it's sexual. I play more FPSs than anything else.

and you don't have a framerate issue??

No, I do, that's the point. The TV can only put up images that is being sent to it. It's not a resolution issue nor is it related to the TV. It's software issue. I don't know why people are humoring it being their TVs or cables.

because its not a widespread issue lol

Totally, must be my TV and/or system. I mean, this doesn't happen with any other game I own so it must be one of the two

And for it not being a widespread issue we'll have to wait and see. Not every PS3 owner that has this game is on these forums so not everyone is spoken for. By what I can tell there are alot of different experiences about this. Some have small stutters every so often. Some have major stalls. On a PC it's sorta expected things like this can happen, and it's never resolved since people **** about PC Rigs and blame it on them. On a console this never should happen. The issue for me is getting more and more serious with more saves I make. That's how I catalog them anyhow. How many between each save.

It feels it's more of an issue with how the engine prioritizes the graphical data. Not sure what the wording for it is but I'll try with an example.

You're in a room with a door at one wall open. You're at the back wall looking through the door. The engine renders everything in the room and partly what is outside the room right? When you start walking towards the doorway more of outside is rendered to prepare for when you step out, the AIs for the mos outside start to render <-- and that's where most my issues are. The transitions between areas where a large portion of the game area is not visible and then moving to visible, and when the AI kicks in. That's what to me feels is the issue. Game not preparing everything correctly before hand.

I've not bothered ranting about the constant lag in certain areas like OZ since it's no problem, nothing major is happening there fore it to be interfering. That's the only thing I can think of, if you can think of a better explanation then I know I won't be the only one pleased to hear it.

Of course it is. Open your eyes. Every review has mentioned the horrible frame rates.

Perception is the reason some people think their game runs fine.

Hahahaha, I filed a question on Nov27th asking "Are you addressing this at all?" and the response I get on Dec11th: " We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. The issue you are facing could be an issue with the mechanics of the game. Unfortunately at customer support we can only help with issues with the game itself."

I DID NOT ASK IF THE ISSUE WAS THE MECHANICS OF THE GAME NOR IS IT THE GAME ITSELF, I ASKED IF IT IS BEING ADDRESSED.

Oh yea, NOTICE THE ****ING HALF A MONTH THEY TOOK TO ANSWER WITH A ****TY RESPONSE.

actually half the responses have been they don't have framrate issues if you start from page one and work accross. Maybe not exactly half but close to. I'm not saying this isn't an issue that should be addressed cause quite frankly I think it should but from observing the game, it seems the game required a very large data output from the ps3 to the TV which causes the ps3 to heat up quicker than any other ps3 game I have ever played. Take note though I do not have a framerate issue.

I'm still waiting for Aelor to try out what we asked him to do 3 days ago rofl!

The majority of people can't tell the difference between 25-30fps. God sake stop arguing over semantics or get out. I'm surprised someone who didn't even know what XMB stood for last month is even bothering themselves with the PS3 forum. If the game put out this'very large amount' of data to the screen you speak of then it... actually I'm not even going to bother. You talk a load of bollocks. Seriously, go back to your plagiarized 'DLC help thread' Sick of looking at your ego stroking. Ever since you actually got that thread stickied you've been nothing but a poser in your posts lol tragic.

When an hdmi cable don't support the bandwidth for an high resolution or for surround sound, the ps3 automatically switch to lower resolution or the data aren't transferred (no output on screen). there's no loss of signal quality with digital cable. It's not the same as analog cable where the kind and quality of the cable play a big  role in image quality: sharpness and colour mostly but don't affect framerate at all.

Many people seems to be unable to tell the difference when the game drop at less than 24 fps

Yea, but the game drops below 20 or to 15FPS very very frequently, trust me, I can tell at that point.
