Does the frame ate improve if you sign out of PSN? Just wondering, as it helped alot in Fallout 3
I played DA ONLY logged off from the PSN because the framerate gets a bit better indeed. But of course it should run alot better. Just played Demon's Souls, its crazy compared to DA. Not only the framerate, but the game itself

------PS3 PAL
2) Has anyone noticed these framerate issues when playing on 480p or
lower?
play at 720p
3) Did lowering from 720p to 480p make a noticable performacne
difference. If so, approximately how noticable was the difference?
imposible reduce 720p to 480p. only play at 720p
4) Does turning off networking options in the Options Menu make a
noticable difference?
no, same.
5) What is your PS3 firmware version. 2.70 is the minimum
required/supported version but newer versions may affect performance.
PS3 firmware version is: 3.15
6) How much hard drive space is left on your console?
I use: 131GB/232GB
7) How long after you start playing does it take for the framerate issues
to occur or do they occur immediately after a load/new game?
Immediately
8) Does your tv natively support the options selected on the console for
video and sound?
Yes, my TV is: Plasma Panasonic NeoPDP TX-42V10 I play in game mode.

Jason Ling from BioWare to this Forum:
We are looking into the PS3 frame rate issues (Stuttering or short pauses) that have been reported in this thread. Could those who are experiencing these issues please provide some information which will hopefully help us to reproduce these problems on our own machines.
1) Is your game NTSC or PAL?
2) Has anyone noticed these framerate issues when playing on 480p or lower?
3) Did lowering from 720p to 480p make a noticable performacne difference. If so, approximately how noticable was the difference?
4) Does turning off networking options in the Options Menu make a noticable difference?
5) What is your PS3 firmware version. 2.70 is the minimum required/supported version but newer versions may affect performance.
6) How much hard drive space is left on your console?
7) How long after you start playing does it take for the framerate issues to occur or do they occur immediately after a load/new game?
8) Does your tv natively support the options selected on the console for video and sound?
Please keep your response specific to issues with frame rate (stuttering or pauses) during gameplay for this thread.
Now that you've had plenty of time to look into it, mind telling us what you plan to do about it?

I'm one of those who didn't found the original "origins" as that problematic. In fact, my PS3 copy ran better than the 360 version at work. However, after the recent (recent for me atleast as I haven't played for a while) patch and "awakening" expansion has made the game unplayable (both "origins" and "awakening". There's a separate thread for this but with no respons fron Bioware and an expensive PSN download (Europe has no retail version it appears) just laying on my HD I figured I add my story here as well, even if this is different from what this thread is about (I'm guessing the patch didn't fix the framerate for you guys since posts are stiull added here?).
Pity that one of the best games of last year (played through origins twice after all) will end like this. Please Bioware, do something about it!

NTSC
2) Has anyone noticed these framerate issues when playing on 480p or
lower?
Why the HELL would I play a current gen game on 480p
3) Did lowering from 720p to 480p make a noticable performacne
difference. If so, approximately how noticable was the difference?
If this game must be played in 480p to work, kindly indicate so in the packaging. I would not have bought it.
4) Does turning off networking options in the Options Menu make a
noticable difference?
No
5) What is your PS3 firmware version. 2.70 is the minimum
required/supported version but newer versions may affect performance.
I have 3.21
6) How much hard drive space is left on your console?
100GB
7) How long after you start playing does it take for the framerate issues
to occur or do they occur immediately after a load/new game?
AWAKENINGS PATCH
8) Does your tv natively support the options selected on the console for
video and sound?
Yes.
--------
My problems started with the Awakening patch. The game is almost unplayable. There are full pauses (more like freezes not pauses) at the start of EVERY fight, and I then play in slow motion until the fight is finished. Game saving and loading is also "freeze"-inducing

So far I personally haven't had any major frame rate issues though there's a definitely noticeable slight pause (right now just a small fraction of a second) every so many steps and minor pause/jerkiness (to play catch up) every so many seconds during the cutscenes I have seen along with some audio bugs. No long pauses or anything while looting corpses and no major frame rate drops, yet. But for the overall frame rate, yet it does seem low, controls have been responsive but things seem to move a bit sluggishly yet not choppy. I understand that my not being that far in things may possibly change. With the way the game was ported I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't optimised for Cell as well as it could be, probably with very little (compared to what could be) being offset to the SPEs and the PPE left doing most of the tasks, like a lot of ports.
1) Is your game NTSC or PAL?
NTSC
2) Has anyone noticed these framerate issues when playing on 480p or lower?
Currently using 720p, if things do get worse I will try 480p to see what happens.
3) Did lowering from 720p to 480p make a noticable performacne difference. If so, approximately how noticable was the difference?
I have not tried this yet, I will later just to give feed back.
4) Does turning off networking options in the Options Menu make a noticable difference?
Same as with three, I will try this when I play again to compare.
5) What is your PS3 firmware version. 2.70 is the minimum required/supported version but newer versions may affect performance.
3.21
6) How much hard drive space is left on your console?
57GB/111GB (original 120GB HDD that came with my PS3 Slim model).
7) How long after you start playing does it take for the framerate issues to occur or do they occur immediately after a load/new game?
I have yet to experience the major issues others have reported though I can definately notice a lowish framerate and some minor stuttering, nothing to make the game unplayable yet however. It reminds me of a PC game where the minimum requirements are just being met or slightly exceeded. Same thing has happened in the first cutscenes I have seen so far with a minor pause/jerk every few seconds. Was noicable right from the start.
8) Does your tv natively support the options selected on the console for video and sound?
Currently use my PC monitor for video though HDMI and my PC speakers with my PS3's composit cable and an adapter, yes I'm still using just 2.1 audio. No 5.1+ here! >_>
Anyway, I will update this later with what kind of difference changing the resolution and disabling the online functions provides, if any. If there aren't any replies by the time I do, if so then I'll just make a new post.
EDIT: Alright, tried disabling the network options, made no noticable difference in my brief test, was going to try it with my wireless completely disabled but it's late. Also tried it at 480p *shudders* aside from looking downright awful (arguably worse than a PS2 game) it seemed to have little to no impact on my own experience with the minor stutter I've seen, well might like a slight jerk every so often, perhaps an issue with reading off the HDD? OTOH I'm still going to bet on part of the problem being that with the game being a port and the likely way the port was done, it doesn't make as good of use of the Cell's resources as it could.
I was going to test it with one of the starting cutscenes/cinemas/whatever but maybe later, I need sleep. I noticed it before but while testing it in 480p all I could think is "wow there's a lot of pop-up/fade in". Thankfully for me the frame rate is currently not as bad as some others have experienced though I know for certain it could be better.

"I thought the frame rate was horrible at first too. It turns out EA is sending information back to itself as we play. Its nothing important..just some meta information. You can turn the upload off in the main menu. It sped the game up to what it should have been for me. Everything is smooth sailing now. "

Many have including myself, it doesn't do more than offer a placebo effect, maybe totally disabling your connection on your PS3 might do something but I doubt it.
EDIT: Now I've started to get a bit further into the game where there's more enemies and actions going on (including particle effects from spells and all that) and I'm definately starting to see increased choppiness and instances of significant stutter.... Yeah, like a typical PC that's just meeting minimum system requirements....
