Last we heard anything specific was more than four months ago:

Jason Ling from BioWare to this Forum:

We are looking into the PS3 frame rate issues (Stuttering or short pauses) that have been reported in this thread. Could those who are experiencing these issues please provide some information which will hopefully help us to reproduce these problems on our own machines.
1) Is your game NTSC or PAL?
2) Has anyone noticed these framerate issues when playing on 480p or lower?
3) Did lowering from 720p to 480p make a noticable performacne difference. If so, approximately how noticable was the difference?
4) Does turning off networking options in the Options Menu make a noticable difference?
5) What is your PS3 firmware version. 2.70 is the minimum required/supported version but newer versions may affect performance.
6) How much hard drive space is left on your console?
7) How long after you start playing does it take for the framerate issues to occur or do they occur immediately after a load/new game?
8) Does your tv natively support the options selected on the console for video and sound?

Please keep your response specific to issues with frame rate (stuttering or pauses) during gameplay for this thread.

Now that you've had plenty of time to look into it, mind telling us what you plan to do about it?

As for that questionnaire, its total freaking rubbish. If only the people who have past gen. entertainment systems can play this game, then why the h*ll don't you advertise that.

The only thing the support needs to know is that my T.V. is an HD model running at 720p (...and I plan to keep it that way), my ps3 firmware is fully patched (otherwise you can't play any freaking games...), and I experience such HORRIBLE framerate issues, sound drops, and dissappearing characters in Awakenings. In Origins, I am now experience worse framerate due to that new Awakening's patch. Also, the music is only on like 10-20% of the time in both games... Oh yea, my Awakening copy was downloaded from the PSN, and I still have yet to find out how we can register Awakening. I keep hearing on the forums that the techs are working on it...

I used to be so pissed about this.

Origins ran like total (framerate) crap for me back when it was brand new. I had to stop playing because I was so upset about the camera/ battle lags...

I really have no idea why it runs so much better now, after Awakenings download and patch install. It just does. For me.

Has anyone else found performance improved after installing Awakenings? Neither game is anywhere close to perfect, I still notice the problems, but they just don't seem quite as terrible as they used to be...

Maybe my eyes are finally going...

Okay, its crazy time now. I played with my internet connection enabled (after preaching to any ear that would hear that turning it off would improve performance) and encountered the same performance as with disabled- Smoother, less laggy-play.

I know I'm not just used to it, I can give you an iron-clad money-back guarantee that my eyes are not deceiving me.

.... so I'm just gonna keep my braggy mouth shut and enjoy this while I can. *activates Stealth Shroud and interacts with Ps3.*

It is smoother, yes, but it remains a consistently low framerate for me; it just doesn't jump around like crazy anymore. I bet if you went to a friends house and played it on their xbox or pc and went back home it would bother you again.

Why the HELL would I play a current gen game on 480p

LOL
My thoughts exactly.

Generally, this game is a total failure on consoles, in my opinion. Console version not only runs horrible but looks horrible compared to PC version.

Who knows if Bioware will fix the bugs that are present on the consoles. I mean the gamers who purchased DAO and DAO Awakening on PS3 and XBox 360 will be the same ones who will purchase DA2. So, to make us happy and to help DA2 sales Bioware and EA need to fix the bugs that are present in DAO and DAO Awakening or they will see lower sales of DA2 for PS3 and XBox 360.

I wonder if anyone in EA or Bioware knows how many copies of DAO and DAO Awakening were sold for PS3 and XBox360 and what is the percentage each platform contributed to total sales.

If PS3 has more than 30% of their total sales they need to step up their patching of the game and quick.

Even if PS3 only has 10% of the sales, treating the customers like crap WILL have negative impact on future sales.

1: PAL
2: The framerate issues have also appeared when playing on that setting
3: I hardly noticed a change.
4: With this and auto-saving turned off. It does seem to help a little bit
5: 3.30 the freezing kind
6: 40gb
7: It only happens in areas with a lot of enemies on the screen. The moments when it happens are always the same. It simply looks like the PS3 can't handle what is currently on the screen(if there is a lot of it).
8: It does

Yes the frame rate does need to be fixed really bad. But i find that the autosave lags it a ton before 3.30firmwire came out i had autosave off it deffiently helps with the framerate drop.

My guess is that this is the highest sold RPG or one of the highest sold RPGs for the PS3. The PS3 does not have that many fantasy setting RPG title out that over a great story.

I just would like to know % of total sales for each platform sold. I just want to know if the PS3 is selling over the 30% mark; if they are they should fix all the bugs on  both PS3 and XBox.

They should fix the bugs no matter the sales per platform; after all they are no garage company. But software devs tend to not take such things so seriously, sadly. Overall I think the PS3-version is probably the least successful, not so much because there are a few 360s more sold, but because the critical reception everywhere made clear that the PS3-version is probably a little worse than the Xbox 360 counterpart, and it has been universally stated that the PC-version is remarkebly better than the console versions.
There is also quite a lot of competition; I doubt so many people make a difference about it being fantasy or Sci-Fi. Overall there is a nice selection of japanese RPGs available, and Oblivion and Fallout 3 were generally a bit better received as western competitors by the press.

Personally I would guess DA:O sold well enough on PS3, but I doubt it sold as many units as FF XIII, Oblivion or Fallout 3.

From vgchartz so not the most accurate data but useful for ballpark figures:

PS3 sales: About 840,000 copies 42% of console sales
360 sales: About 1,160,000 copies 58% of console sales

Now look at it as money:

After a variety of costs, including printing, transport, retailer, platform royalties, etc; the money that goes to EA from a $60 game is about USD 25.

PS3 = 21,000,000 USD
360 = 29,000,000 USD

We do not know what is the relationship for the studio relating to EA, however as they are owned by EA you could apply the above figures directly. Is 21,000,000 USD in revenue worth patching to ensure repeat customers?

I thinks yes.

Just to throw my two cents in, I run on a PS3 Slim 120g HD and love DA:O and DA:Awakenings and even enjoyed the Darkspawn DLC. However the framerate is not very good. There is an incredible amount of skipping with multiple settings and frankly I'm not sure why the settings are being toyed with at all to try and fix an obvious coding problem. Please fix my favorite funtime!

For what it's worth, they've definitely lost my future purchases...
