Recently all discussions regarding Liara has been dropped. Sure the cold, scary, I'm going to tear you apart shadow broker with my biotics isn't what we fell for from the first game, but we can hope for the clarification and re-emergence of the Liara that our Shepard's fell for can't we? OR IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK BIOWARE?!

I like her more now that she's a little ruthless

I still like her character and I'm sure there will be resolution in ME3.

There's been several threads on how to rekindle the relationship with Liara. You don't get to be intimate during this game, but you do get to stare at her picture in your cabin just before the suicide mission, obviously thinking of her.
You just have to understand a woman. What's so hard about that?

I
Liara. I'm willing to be a fanboy for her, though Tali may steal me away simply because she's become the innocent one now. I may hunt down BioWare for changing my Liara like that.

Never really cared for her. Her voice has an awkward quality that annoys me a little. And it's not changed an iota.

Liara has become the cold, objective-oriented woman willing to kill to get what she wants. Jack is just ****ing insane.

see my avive? That's the blue bookworm my femshep fell in love with two years ago before she died.
Allyn knows the relationship's strained, but she's confident that their melding and loyalty to each other will prevail come ME3

Glad that I didn't romance her, I don't like either Liara performances.

lol my femshep doesn't get in any relationships
she is too busy killing to have any time for that
maybe if they give her an option in the future where she doesn't have to be all nice to get involved or something...

Her being "ruthless" made me laugh. It was pathetic. I don't know guys, I never liked her.

My final playthrough(aka my main for ME3) will have my Femshep staying loyal to Liara. I'm doing loyal on my first playthrough and on my second will cheat with Kelly to see how that is and then do my true playthrough. I actually like Liara more after seeing how she's changed.
Everyone seems Saddened or Angry that she has become more Ruthless and cold instead of staying the innocence little nerd from the First game even after all she went through. She lost her mate(us), Finds out that a Group both she and Shepard hated might be able to bring her loved one back to life if they had my corpse, the galaxy's most powerful information broker has my body with plans to sell it to a group of aliens, lost a Good friend while getting my corpse back and then had to give my corpse away on the Hope that Cerberus could revive me.
It's been two years since those things happened and I would be suprised if she didn't change, I understand why she is going after the Person who cost her a friend and almost sold my corpse to the collecters.
I do wonder what the affect of her actions will have on ME3 and if I get more involved in helping her after returning from the Mission.

Not really a big fan of the character. Scientific bookworm characters are usually my faves, but she just didn't have enough personality for me to care. However, I did find myself actually being disappointed in her choices.

I've always liked Liara and even more so now after finding out how far she is willing to go for Shepard. I'm staying true to her as my LI, hopefully Bioware truly rewards those that stay loyal.

Lots of people seem to care. At least during their first playthrough.
Most of them aren't happy how she turned out to be in ME2. Bioware did a good job hiding the convo option where she supposedly (I haven't seen it yet, perhaps in my current playthrough) drops the act for a bit.
Bioware has claimed she was spared the suicide mission for a reason. We shall see what that reason was, though the obvious answer would be an essential, non replaceable role that no "mortal" squaddie can be assigned (cuz you know, they might be dead).
If they are hoping that everyone will read the comic to fill in the blanks of her apparent character shift, they may regret that oversight. About 1% of the people who end up playing ME3 will read the mini-series.

Nah, the ME1 LI interactions were handled very poorly by Bioware. No matter what, someone who loved you would do more than give you a huge and some half excuse of duty before leaving you (possibly forever).
I ditched Ash and hooked up with Miranda. She's with me until the end :-).

It's not serious character development. What happens with Tali, Garrus, and Wrex is character develop. Existing traits become more prominant as the character changes over time, but a great deal of what makes the character that character remains.
Garrus always wanted to be free from the rules and regulations of C-Sec, and to be harsher to criminals. His archangel persona is him doing just that. In ME 1, Tali's pilgrimage was to help the fleet and to proove herself an adult. When we encounter a mature Tali, it makes sense.
Liara was never ruthless. Never obsessed with hurting people. She never had the abilities and contacts nessary to become a major power broker and couldn't develop them in 2 years.
The Liara we see in ME 2 is nothing like the ME 1 Liara in personality or motivation. It's obvious that a new writer who didn't like the character from the first game got ahold of her.
