I know I'll get a lot of inevitable hate about this (and so much ironic talk about being "adults") but do you guys think there is some way to petition BioWare for an explicit language filter? Is it even possible to get this as a patch?

why would you want scarce development dollars to be spent on something other than the game?  Do the 7 words you can't say on television scald you so badly?

You really should consider listening to some Richard Pryor from the middle 70's. You will soon become inured.

I've heard 6 year olds say worse than what is in this game. They learn it from their parents more than anything else.

They could put in an option, and i'd be fine, as long as it doesn't make it so that they would have to cut something else due to budget or time that they could work on something else. But if in order to make a censor option, they'd have to cut something else, I would say no to the censor.

But, this game is rated M for mature for a reason. I find it kinda weird though that your "heart dropped" just from hearing a word... Afterall, that's all it is. A harmless word with little to no meaning.

I'll be frank with you. No, it won't happen.

To be honest, I did find it odd that aliens are quite familiar with human swearing.  On the other hand, they are quite familiar with human languages in general so I can't complain.

I think they hand-waved that away in the first game with the universal translator that's built into every suit.

Or the Babel Fish.

Oh, and no OP, I don't think a filter is necessary. The language is pretty tame and... well... there's more wrong with Jack than just her mouth. ;)

Joshd21, you are a jerk. Not because I disagree with your opinion, but because of the way you express yourself. Is it really so hard to say you disagree without writing several paragraphs that amount to repeating your insults over and over?

Get used to it, life is filled with jerks. I am willing to say how it is and not try to say sorry about it. I have no regret and you should be a man and get used to the damn video game. The game is rated M for Mature, at age 18 you can join the army be shipped around the world and shoot bad guys

Also when you turn 18, you get used to playing some bad ass video games. If you can't handle the word screw you being spoken a few times. Maybe you should stick to the wii sports. It's not that I just disagree, it's just how you are wrong

And if I don't repeat how wrong you are. You may think you are right, maybe after an hour of listening to me. Mass Effect will seem like a cake walk, don't like it? I didn't ask you what you liked!!, seriously get over it. I'm not getting excited about

Two pixels dry humping and neither should you. Don't like what they have to say? don't listen..but I believe Jack would have a word for ppl like that. The world is a tough place, live now and learn. Dragon Age had nearly the same and it had a high rating of sucess and raise the standreds in video games

Deal with it'

Common human decency. Blunt doesn't have to be rude. And why the double post?

The site did the double post, not me.

Okay let me try to have this be my last post because I can go back and forth all night. Bioware is a company that writes storys/makes video game's. I'm not sure about you. Not all of us grew up watching Sweet Life of Zack and Codey or Miley Cirus

In reality, when you tell a story and the light's go out. Bad stuff happended. Like When Miley had those pictures of her published on the net. That's life, cold stuff happens and it appeal's to gamer's because it is real, it's hard. Sometime's it's sweet, but Bioware is not going B.S.

You, what Jack is ..is apart of her nature, how she grew up. Not all of us can appeal to the cheer leader in the game and be perfect. Some of us are just trying be straight with you. I don't know about you but I heard worse cursing when I was growing up

or watching an HBO spires with that Mafia show. Yea they cuss, they also do alot other cool ****. Don't focus on one aspect, look at the picture. Bioware is not changing their games for an optional "No show boobs mode", don't like it? don't buy it

enough said

Miley Cyrus, not Circus.

Bioware: You've sold more than 2 million copies of the game solely for the "M" rated audience. Please don't censor ME3. We don't need to return to the era when all video games are for kids. The writing in ME3 is the best I've ever seen and all the characters are totally believable. Swearing is apart of life... and like Jack says when talking about some of her tattoos, "why the fu@k not?"

Do they even say green in the game? I mean, I've seen the colour green, but I don't remember it being said.

You never got drunk in the game, did you?

Touche. I forgot about that part, my bad.  In that case, I apologize for my last statement.

Sorry OP, the rating says "M- Strong Language, Sexuality, Violence" if one or all of these don't appeal to you, don't play. Certainly don't let your kids play- tv and video games are NOT a substitute for good parenting.

However, if it weren't a major coding thing, and a simple "bleeped" version of the dialogue could be toggled in Options, I doubt many people would have a problem with it. After all, you can turn the Gore effects off in DAO.

Eminem said it best "Will Smith doesn't have to cuss to sell records, well I do, so **** him and **** you too."

The true meaning behind that line isn't a literal translation, it's about freedom of choice, and BioWare has this as well.

This is a funny social sideffect. Janet Jackson's nipple was never exposed on tv (it was covered up). But if enough people say something happened, the mind starts to believe it- it's a lot like how people can look at photos of Disneyland and start to believe they were there on vacation as kids when they weren't.

Soldiers, convicts, and mercenaries swear. Further, as many have already mentioned, you get to shoot ALOT of people in this game and that doesn't bother you but swearing does? I will NEVER understand this kind of thinking.

I bought a game that was rated "M". "M" rated games are sold to adults i.e. people that are of voting age. "M" means MATURE. Weather you like it or not they are allowed under that catagory to swear like construction workers or sailors. It also has the reverse effect as when you are an adult you are supposed to be mature enough to block out the uncomfortable words. FFS I am willing to bet that the overwhelming majority of us are not educated in a nunnery. That being said if it makes you squeemish don't talk to Jack and she won't tell you to *uck off!

I vote we remove interaction altogether and thus avoid offending anyone, for that matter remove all violence, and all of the characters should be stick people thus avoiding any stereotyping. In order to defeat "bad" guys everyone should be armed with cupcakes to hand out and win everyone over with friendship.

Damn straight!

That may be the best idea I've heard all day, or at least the funniest.

Just off the top of my head, I would say, it would require a few more days of QA, make sure it bleeps everything correct, and it would be a pain for localization, as they would all need different language filters, and there would need to be a list of what words to bleep and what words not to bleep, as Europeans are not accustomed to bleep anything.

While not the most expensive endevore, I'd guesstimate on par with making space suites for everyone for those vacume missions, or a nude model for each of the love cutscenes, in terms of production cost.

Soo, 5 dollar DLC? Those who want it, would that be a price you are willing to pay?

Yeah, way too much name-calling and insults in this thread. Also, internet petitions rarely, if ever, work. Sorry.

Do NOT want censorship in ME*.

BTW, all whining about gore(MOAR!), sex(MOAR!), nudity(MOAR!) and crude language(MOAR!) should be cut\\banned on sight. It's M-rated game.
