No doubt like many others I was left with many questions about the Future of the Mass Effect story and my Team due to the "Way" The game can end. So after Several days thinking I have come up with some theories based on things that can happen in the game and would like to hear others as well.

As we all know by now, You can either come out The Champion and save the day or Send your crew into hell and get them all killed durring the final mission. This causes alot of questions about ME3 and how things will work in it if it's possible to lose a Main Party member. A Theory for this is that based on some hints given about ME3, Like that they are going all out for it and letting lose in terms of choices and that your ME1 and 2 Decisions will Affect 3 in alot of ways. While you can "Wipe" The final mission, It isnt exaclty what you are ment to do. I feel that the way you finish the Final battle will affect ME3 in ALOT of way. You prepare and go in headstrong and act like a Commander, You will be joined with your team again in 3 to face the final battle prepared. You let people die, You suffer from their loss in 3.
ME2s Story was heavily focused on gathering your Team and Gaining their Trust, Going so far as to make it more than Half the story and point of the game. Hinting that most of them may not just be a "Gun for Hire doing Temp Work"
It seems rather pointless to put this much Emphasis on all of these Characters just to replace them all later.


Some Hints given about ME1 Love Interests suggest that "Cheating" On them may lead to Repercussions. Well If my ME2 love isnt on my team anymore and I keep my mouth shut, I don't see how Ashley is going to find out. So that helps point Towards your ME2 LI remaining with you (Providing that you keep them alive)

Another thing to note is that if you finish the game right, And stay alive, You can keep going. There is no Vague ending like in ME1 or a long List of Words telling you what became of everyone. You just keep going. Your Crew acknowledges that the battle was won and your Team sticks with you. You can also call your Lover into your cabin for a more Tender, Romantic time with them, Showing you that just because the battle is won, It doesnt mean your time with them is over.


Mass Effect 2, While Amazing....Felt a bit more like a Stepping stone than anything. Like it was ment to prepare us for things to come. I feel that by doing things right, We will be Rewarded for it once 3 Comes out. Allowing everything to finaly come full Circle and friendships and Loves to reach their Full Potential.

But these are just my Theories and I am sure I forgot a few (It's Late) But I needed to voice/Type some of these things out in a Attempt to Rationalize everything that can happen in the end of ME2.

Reapers are the equivalent to Collector's for another, even more enigmatic race outside the universe.

That is indeed how a trilogy works tbh.
The first part introduces the reader/viewer/player into the world that the story rotates around. As well as the main character, his mission and his adversaries.
A second part introduces new characters, new spaces, but the same enemy and mostly the same goal. However, there are alot of things that need to be set in motion in order to prepare for the conclussion which is the third and final instalment. It is ussually the most breath-taking because it is in retrospect the end. Lord of the Rings was a good example of such a trilogy.

In any event, we all know how BioWare works so I don't think they won't let our choices just fly us by without seeing the concequences. Be it that we saved the Geth, destroyed the base and other things.

In my oppinion, I think that the third instalment will be similar to the second, only at a larger scale. I think (and hope) that we will still have our team, and that we will try to convince other factions to be ready for the Reaper attack.
Maybe the Geth will be allies in the fight, the krogan and racnhi aswell, the quarian flotilla will help in an assault after we find them a planet or something.
We will see.

In mass effect one is was about stopping the main reaper plan and building Allies. Moon, I agree with you that Mass effect 2 is a stepping stone. Oh though a shorter game than mass effect (part 1) in some ways, but longer if you keep playing after the main story.



Mass effect 3 will I hope be more tactical thinking. Being able to reach bigger badder weapons. using old, new and cutting edge tech. To turn the tide of the battle in your favor. I have a very tactic way of thinking. The way it looks in mass effect 3 you may have to take out as many reapers as you can with little or no lost, due to a number of reasons. For most is that they have more numbers than we do and it takes a hell of a lot of fire power to knock them out.



Collectors well, what do we really know about them other than what was found out in the game. next to nothing, but it feel great to get pay back for all the things those things did.

I'm wondering how far in the future Mass Effect 3 will be taking place. I can't imagine the game opening up year(s) after ME2. I mean, the Reapers are here right now, in the galaxy. All they have to do is find one of their relays, and then it's game over.

I'm betting we'll see Cerberus take control of the ship (assuming you made an enemy of them at the end of ME2).  Edi has complete access to the ship after Joker hooks her up and if you talk to her enough you discover she had some hidden programming the purpose of which she doesn't know.

I'm guessing the illusive man triggers the programming and gets control of the whole ship.  Maybe we'll end up with a new looking ship because of it.

Then Shep will have to take the fight to Timmy to get his ship and crew member (EDI) back.

I think a paragon Shep will let a lot of the crew go back to Cerberus if he blew up the collector base since Timmy could punish them by harming their families. If the crew doesn't leave, I can see missions revolving around helping your non squadmate crew deal with their problems like keeping the family who was moved to earth by Cerberus before their colony was attacked safe.

inb4 heroic sacrifice reapers were protecting us all the other cliched stuff and dark energy, that dark energy set up was as subtle as dual welding cains.

From the ME3 trailer that's showed up recentley its confirmed that a major (if not THE major) battle will take place on earth

If this is true then i would love for humans to be on the verge of defeat...then...a Quarian and Geth amarda shows up and kicks ass <<< that would send goosebumps down my arms (yes...I know...very sad)

Then out of no where a fleet of all the united Krogan clans comes along and kicks further ass.

AND THEN...the rachni appear aswell and kick evenmore ass

of course, these all depend if you completed Tali & Legions loyalty missions in ME2 and if they survived, if you saved Wrex on Virmire in ME1 and also let the queen Rachni loosed on Noveria in ME1.

Also maybe your parents show up of your character is a Spacer ??
