Running a tabletop game and need help with a name for a neutral evil female assassin. Will adjust design of character and painted figure according to final name. Looking for something with a hidden or extra meaning to it.

examples :  another name for death
                      another name for the unexpected
                      another name for swift retribution etc etc

Have been DMing since 1976 and this is the first time I have come up with writers block when it comes to an unusual name with a deeper meaning. Any help from any of the gamers out there would be appreciated Want to get into the background for her but really want to base everything off of the name. Would like it to be something elegant yet imposing. have about 4 weeks before I might have to introduce her to the party I am currently painting her figure, planning to do some kind of deep blood red leather nearly black maybe the same for her cloak thinking of black hair light skin maybe almost vampirish or also torn between the sweet innocent look as well.

Thank you in advance for any help and I will visit this post daily for the next few weeks in the hopes of coming up with something. Once i decide on or find a name I plan to use I will post it here. I will also try to get a good picture of the finished painted figure as well.

If you're designing someone elegant but imposing (and I'm assuming very deadly), have you considered naming her after a poisonous flower? A few that spring to mind are Foxglove, Maikoa, Datura, Belladonna, Lantana and Azalea.

You could go by numbers (for example 0, 13, 42 and possibly also 666 can be interpreted as fatal numbers), by colours (white and black can both be symbolic of death, depending on where you live), by religion (Lilith is a prime example for evil women in the bible, Morningstar is a very demonic surname), by animals (snakes, some sorts of fish and maybe also spiders are cold and lethal, cats or reptiles if you want to emphasize the predatory nature)... Form an analgram or translate into another language to conceal everything (I hear French is very popular for this) and you're all set.

One example: Leliel Shiro, combining the angel of the night with the japanese word for white.

just checking in thanks guys for these starters. I find all of them interesting and perhaps a combination of them together...maybe 3 names first middle and last, with the ideas so far you have just created a longer name..something I hadn't thought of till I read these posts. You may have started to break down that writing block. Will check back in again tomorrow. @ Humanoid...actually the black and white thing could be a symbol of her neutrality and could alter her to a monk/assassin which is even more brutal then I had originally planned. Thanks for that idea.

You can check all god and godesses names some are particulary grim in their fonction.

You can use the names of the greek fates Clotho, Lachesis, Athropos or the norse norn Urd/Wyrd, Verdandi, Skuld.
Morrigan's name come from the celtic godess of the same name and mean either "terror" or "phantom queen", other form of her name are Morriga, Morrighan, Mor-Rioghain, Morrigna.
She is generaly associated with the names Macha and Nemein who are aspect of Morrigan and are godesses of war, Nemein being particulary link with blood and sensless violence.

i would like to actually thank everyone who commented for there help in getting past my writers block as well as for the many ideas I can now use for other characters. This has worked out great for me thank you all.
