You know what would make ME3 awesome? The butterfly effect. all good and bad decisions dont only effect your battle turnouts or you para/ren meter. But how people see Shepard, how relationships are effect, Liara may not like how you killed an innocent, and not feel love for you anymore. Or grunt may not like your long diplomatic solutions, and think less of you as a leader.

Another effect of para/ren decisions could be making deep choices. Like The ME1 situation where Kaiden or Ashley had to be chosen. One of them were gonna live, one of them were gonna die. How would you feel if Jacob and Tali was put in a life or death situation due to a double agent mission gone wrong, threatened by Shepard's own hands wielding a pistol. Or Shepard was left with the choice to cure the genophage or save the turian Counselor.

I want these type of deep decisions that make you think about being a full paragon, accepting defeat. Or a devious renegade, sacrificing others needs to get what you want.

I'm grateful to BioWare for Mass Effect 2, but it has some room for improvement. Some modest suggestions:

No (or MUCH LESS) planet scanning or anus probing please. Cost of researches should be lowered, probing makes us waste precious game time. And there should be an option to sell the probed resources for credits or trade them with another type of resource you need.

All the vendor bought armor should be rethought as armor upgrades, they should be applied to armor like "runes" in Dragon Age, and there should be much more visual combinations of armors.

Some inventory management for the main character AND the followers. I know ME1 inventory was tedious for many people but removing the inventory altogether was an insult to our intelligence.

More weapons, and with on screen statistics and better explanations than "This is better than the other shotgun, honestly!" There should be weapons of a certain type with, say, better spread and recoil but lower damage instead of linear weapon tiers so that we can prefer to use Weapon A in certain situations and Weapon B in others instead of always using the "best" weapon of a category. Damage, recoil, range, statistics like that should be visible and make us do calculations every once in a while instead of streamlining everything for casual terribads.

O.K. i think its stupid when when a game this big is just ended after 3 releases. i mean look at "Halo", the may have stopped there main line but that doesn't mean they stopped making "Halo" games. and another big game franchise is "Final Fantasy." i mean they just made their 13th game, why cant BioWare do the same with Mass Effect.

Yea i love the idea of having the same team from 1 and 2 and i also like having new characters. its a hard decision to make on what team members to bring back and what ones not too.

Another thing that i really love is importing my character, because if somehow they keep making these games i think it would be amazing to keep the same character and use all the decisions that they did throughout all the games into all the new ones. yeas that will be very hard because all the decisions that are being made but i believe it would make one hell of an impact on gamers and more.

so in all i dont think that BioWare should end Mass Effect. all of us as gamers need Shepard, you cant just end him, that would be uncivilized....

I also think that for number 3 with the illusive man that it would be cool that if possibly there was somehow a way that Shepard found out his base of operations, and the rest well BioWare can take it from there.

I would also like to see more of the Love plot line much longer, i mean yea they were good but i just wish that they were much longer.

Hey, Just dropping in to say I really loved the game, it jumped to no 1 of my best gaming experiences. It seems like you BioWare guys are creating your own game genre and it rocks! All in all I have complete faith you will continue to refine the formula for ME3 and as such I have only one suggestion:

Your games are revered for great stories and narrative. They are great because people get emotionaly invested in them, and their characters.

Use this more - the 'characters' part. Make relationships matter more. Develop them, bring them to a climax, and I speak as much of the romatic as of the very opposite ones. Bring all LI plots to a satisfactory end, especially those from ME1 (people waiting 4 years to see a fullfilling apex... Imagine the outrage if it doesn't happen;). But at the same time bring antagonisms to a climax - with TIM, Reapers, the Council, Anderson, you name it.

In my opinion it's the characters and relationships with them that are  the most effective (but at the samy time quite tricky) way of making players care about the game. How many times did we save the world in videogames? Good character-based plots never get old on the other hand. You've built a great foundation - I beg of you: deliver on it (even more than you already did).

Otherwise - can't wait for the final game!

I loved the romance options in Mass Effect games. I'd like to see more of that in Mass Effect 3. More romance in the game, and more characters available to romance with. Better graphics are always nice as well (not to say the graphics in Mass Effect 1 or 2 are bad). Just saying that its always nice to have improved graphics, that's all. Controller support would be nice too.

So to sum up my wishlist:
*More romance options
*Expand on the romance aspect of the game
*Better graphics
*Support for the XBOX 360 Controller for PC

why should romances only be restricted for the main character? if a love interest remains unoccupied by Shepard it could start to pursue a romance of its own... what about Thane & Kasumi or a more complicated love triangle Tali & Joker and a very jealous EDI ...?

What's the deal with everyone wanting more romance. Is it because they can't get it IRL?

Probably. Some romance is fine sure, but it seems a lot of you might be better off playing some weird Japanese dating sim game.

@ BioWare Devs. Get rid of Planet Scanning entirely, it completely kills replay value for me ( i'm not talking about anyone else on here). The thought of sitting there scanning so i can upgrade my stuff is tedious beyond belief.

@ Christina Norman. Bring back the RPG style management will you. You made some good choices in regards to the ME2 intensity/shooter aspect, but but terrible choices in removing the players ability to mange their inventory/mods.

Inventory:

I have no idea why you took our inventory away in ME2. It was difficult creating fantastic weapons (At first), but completely destroying it was the stupidest thing you could ever do. We NEED more weapons. In ME1, you could probably have thousands of different weapon configurations. In ME2 we have no customized weapons. Sure, we have upgrades, but that is not enough. And as it has been said before, we love looting. Don't become one of those companies who cares more for casual games than the hardcore gamers. We need inventory. We need challenge.

On a side note, I don't think it would be a good idea to carry dozens of weapons and armors at once. Actually, keep the actually weapons list smaller, but allow us to find a load of attachments or upgrades. Same for Armor I suppose. Just find some happy balance that exists between the systems in ME1 and ME2. Oh, and most importantly:

Don't you dare bring back Omni-gel. Ever.

Leveling Up:

Give us more abilities to purchase as it was in ME1. I love being able to upgrade all sorts of aspects to my character. It really encourages me to Level Up. Having only a few places to spend points really really sucks. I absolutely love the idea of Power evolution though! (Max a power and choose from one of two "Upgrades" to it)

Experience:

OK, why on earth would you remove experience?! Getting it at the end of missions is stupid. It doesn't reward you for killing your enemies. It would be cool if you gave bonuses for getting headshots, combos, or just fighting effectively. Just don't do one of the ME2 experience things again. Please.

Exploration:

Again, something I miss. If people really complain about it, don't make it required, but I felt that the environments were way to linear. I need to be able to explore and find secret weapons and what not.

User Interface:

Get rid of those "End Of Mission" screens. They are very annoying. Also a search function for the Codex would be nice for some of the hardcore fans.

I agree on everything you said ChessPlayer

I'm a space-junkie and I loved exploring the world of Mass Effect. I loved using the Mako to roam around planets (even though bland and lifeless). You are right. The Mako did really make the game more massive. ME 2 was too Linear for me and maybe that is because I play enough FPS that are ALWAYS linear I come to RPG's and aspect them to be open-ended

I loved the Citadel as well. It may have frustrated some people, but I liked walking around the huge Citadel and observing it. I actually like the long elevator rides because it made it seem that you were actually in a space station in the future

You know in ME 1 I looked at the Codex a lot because I wanted information on the vast world I was in, but in ME 2 I NEVER looked at it because it was just Linear and nothing vast to learn about

Things that I loved about ME 2 was the vast galaxy and how the planets were unique and realistic and how you could harvest from them. I hope in ME 3 they combine the Mako N7 missions as well the harvesting planets piece at well

I think the inventory system was bad and good. I think they should have the whole inventory system available on the ship only. That way it's kind of realistic and you still have the customization. I loved finding new weapons and armor all the time that gave me a boost in a fight in ME 1. The armor bugged me a lil in ME 2 but not that much

Like someone else said, I would like an explorable Earth of maybe a little town or any other planet in our own solar system. Like the mission in ME 1 that was on the Moon. I thought that was really cool as well.

All in all, ME is the best series of games I've played in my life and I love them both, I just love ME 1 more. But I love the shooter aspects of ME 2 as well and I wish they incorporate that and the other positive things in ME 2 with all the things they left out in ME 1 to make a huge grand finale in ME 3

Man I'll be really mad if they don't fix the mining element of the game. They need to either speed up the process or get rid it of entirely.
Another thing is that I want to see more of an impact of the decisions you made the trilogy such as letting the council live or die, not some different recording that occurs in the citadel based on the choices you made before.
For making the citadel bigger that would require more extensive imagery and data which would require longer load times to run at a steady 30 fps with no hitch.
For the vehicle segments if there are any they should have more variety other than collecting data and stuff like in the firewalker dlc pack.
The hacking mini games should also be redesigned from scratch since they were too simple and felt tacked on.
Other than that the last thing I want for Mass Effect 3 is to be able to land on earth and explore it . or if it doesn't happen in Mass Effect 3 there could be a dlc where there's a mission on earth, either way I want to be able to experience it firsthand.

How about this for ME3?

Give us back a mixture of squad mates, who survived of course, from ME1 and ME2... maybe a couple new ones as well, and then for ME3 have us go around and recruit the different alien species for a final encounter to save the galaxy.  Have us go to the Turian homeworld, the Salarian, The Elcor, etc, etc, and have us recruit them for this epic final battle, and depending on who we are able to recruit and how loyal they are to us and the fight, depends on how we do in that battle.  The council doesn't really like us, most species don't really like humans... I think that could be interesting... anyways, just a thought.

That's a good plan in ME 3 of recruiting more squad mates to take on the reapers, but consider how big the normandy would have to be in order to fit all of them in one place.  Maybe there will be like a headquarters or some command center, I don't know.

Very true about the planet scanning KazuyaWright.  They should have a different way of upgrading your weapons and ship in ME3.

The mods and inventory should be redesigned from the ground up for ME3 otherwise the fans might go in an uproar.

Better Graphics?? I mean? How much can the Xbox 360 chug out to have better graphics? I  mean if they do that for ME3 then its going to have to be 3 disks!

Casey Hudson has said they will go to Earth at some stage, they just want it to be this grand awesome thing and get it right, so they didn't want to do it too early in the series.  Since Mass Effect is a trilogy, that would mean it will be in ME3.

I like the RPG elements in Mass Effect 1+2. All they should just do is import the Combat from mass effect 2 , Import the RPG elements from Mass Effect 1 , and just make one big SANDWICH

BUT NOTHING LIKE LEVEL REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTAIN ITEMS This isn't an MMO

The combat system from me2 was beyond... bad. In me2, no matter what class you are, leveling and skills just seem to be extras, all you'll do is shoot, and use your skills as support, as opposed to me1 where if you were, say a biotic, you COULD play through the whole game without firing a single shot, not that it's too wise, but certainly possible. It's a shame class, skills and level barely have an impact on the game or your playstyle in me2, a real shame. Not to mention biotics is just plain broken on me2, I won't even get into the armor/shield/barrier thing...

It just feels too much like a shooter, and even then there are shooters out there with leveling systems that have more impact on your character and playstyle than me2, even though this one is supposed to be a RPG.

Also, I don't see what's wrong with level requirements, although skill requirements would make much more sense (considering you use me1 skill system or something along those lines).

With all this said, I pretty much agree with the op and GarrettTheHung.

While I was irritated by the mineral scanning like most people, the exploration on ME1 was also flawed. I prefer the 'anomaly > land in shuttle > complete linear mission' to the shoot out with Geth over a landscape of amorphous blobs or the raid on the identikit underground complex. The ME2 system kinda backs up the feeling of a race against time so Sheppard has to concentrate on what's important.

As for the RPG/Shooter divide, I'm happy going with Bioware on this one: having played the KOTORs to death i reached the conclusion that it's the character and story development that was done well. In ME2 thats what they focused on, and mostly it worked; there really was a sense of something bigger than the player at work.

I particularly liked the sense of NPC characters who clearly had their own agendas, Liara and Wrex spring to mind.

While the new leveling system was a shock, I am willing to accept it since the gameplay does allow you to 'customise' the way that you fight, in the sense that I could choose to take down any particular group of enemies in several ways rather than that I could improve my skills/weapons/team in several ways.

I dislike returning to the Normandy, they can fix that, don't mind the mission complete screen, but then I quite like the Illusive Man, so his feedback is pretty fun. They can have less systems with nothing but resources, and larger cities, but not at the expense of the excellent firefights; when I want freeform I'll play Oblivion.... again.

Thanks

ME2 should have ditched armor all-together. There was no substance in the armor customization at all. Better to leave it out. Still miss the armor from ME1.

Bring back whole armor sets from ME1, with the color customization from ME2!!!

I think we need to have longer and more complex character missions. Some that could involve more than one character at once with different interests, joining to different worlds in the same mission and having changes to loss loyalty/romance and even regaining it before re-joining to the Normandy.

Or different missions in wich you could create/loss some new affinity with characters and re-gain it (or loss the previously gained) in other mission played several hours later.

Some kind of complex/volatile long relations with other characters.

I would have loved to have strong difficulties to re-gain Tali's trust in ME2 after joining Cerberus needing some missions for it.
