Instead of scanning planets, send a satelite that automatically scans
over a period of time. It can be like Fable 2's ecomony.

Satelites can be bought/sold and upgraded to produce better results. You can hire men/companies and upgrade them to dig.

So, you still need to visit the planets, and it becomes a rewarding management sim.

I personally like the new inventory system. Keep it, but add more (maybe throw in a couple Shepard-unique items based on decisions made,) and give us the same capabilities for our squad.

Helmets - no toggle. It's not my idea, but I loved it - when not in combat, they need to fold up and retract into the armor like the weapons do.

More NPC interacting cutscenes. Miranda and Jack, Tali and Legion - they were awesome. I need MORE of that!

I could see the side missions starting in this direction, but I'd like a few side missions with huge story arcs better than tons of little ones. Fallout did it splendidly - a side mission would take you hours to see through from start to finish. Make them as engaging as the loyalty missions.

I want a space cat that I have to keep away from my space hamster. Please.

On the retractable helmets mentioned above.  I think that would be very cool and a neat way to handle the toggle situation.

Also...

1. More conversations both on ship and when exploring (similar to dragon age and elevators in Mass Effect 1).

2. Ability to skip the beginning introductory cut scene.

Bring back the overheating element to the gun-play, but make it co-exist with the thermal clips. Not only would it better the gameplay, but fit better with the canon.

Example: Instead of popping-out a heat sink, the player can wait for the weapon to cool, BUT still have the option to eject the heated clip with another for a faster way to get back to shooting.

We should NEVER be completely out of ammunition, just heat sinks.

I'll be more then pleased if they just keep the epic feel from ME2.

Personally I just want one thing for them, the good ending. Please don't make the last cutscene something like * kill the main enemy and then fly away in their ship while credits roll*

Put what happened to who (major NPCs and teammates), explain the situation in the universe and put the long cutscene with your romance partner, different and unique for each character.

Driving the Mako is one of the few things that I didn't like that much in the first Mass Effect. For me it go repetitive really quickly I like being able to hid behind something and just keep shooting or using my powers. It's a little more strategic then just being in a tank and trying to out muscle someone.

It wouldn't be a bad thing to have it for one or two missions but thats all that I could handle.

My wish list for ME3:

Generally, aside from the one or two small things that annoyed me purely because of personal preference (stupid little things like Shepard cracking his knuckles) I have no complaints.  The things that pop into my brain for ME3 are as follows:

1) HELMET TOGGLE

2) Proper and fulfilling resolution of romantic subplots from ME1.

3) "Friend" dialogue.  I stuck with Ashley with my Shepard and felt like I missed out on a lot of getting to know Jack and Miranda because all conversation seemed to stop as soon as it was determined I wouldn't be sleeping with them.  And I'd have loved to have been more buddy buddy with Tali too, but same problem.  The non "cheating" people kind of got screwed on character interaction as a whole (what with the small appearance of our love interest and the aforementioned shut down in conversation with everyone else).

4)  Ash/Kaidan as squadmates.  With character development suited to them specifically and not just recycled, interchangeable lines.

5)  Make the game with ME1fans in mind.  It's great to get new players, but by the third part of a trilogy it really should be about rewarding the ones that have stuck with you from the beginning.  This means giving all the characters from the first game their due.  And if that means brand spanking new ME3 characters have to take a backseat, so be it.  We'll all still love them.

I love the combat and story of this series, but my favorite thing will always be the awesome character writing.

:D

I loved ME2 but there are a few things that bugged me.

The main one is that they didn't show the new council. I felt the endgame of ME1 got no payoff. No matter what happened in the first game, it was almost exactly the same scene with anderson. Even if you picked udina. I kept a renegade and a paragon playthrough of ME1 to see what difference it would make to the new game. Turns out, it really didn't change it very much at all.

So I say to the devs. Please give us a decent payoff for the ending of ME2. Show us the new council. Give Paragons and Renegades different scenes or a couple of different side missions. Something to really show off the import feature rather than ME2s tactic of trying to minimize different variants.

Not showing the new council was a real cop out.

Example: Paragon reports to the council for the whole game and aligns with them. Renegade reports to the illusive man after finishing missions. Something cool like that.

Or a side mission to zhu's hope, if you were a paragon and used the gas, the colony looks different to if you were a renegade.

Oh and a back button would be nice on the import feature. Having to wait for the load, then realizing you've picked the wrong import, then having to watch the whole opening cutscene before being able to pick another one. Argh.

I love the first game and I love the second game. I've been waiting all my gaming life for a space opera like this. But the mining planets for resources thing (ME2) was one of the dullest moments in gaming history. Please, please, please change that in ME3.

Oh, and improved/increased squad banter. I would like for team mates to acknowledge each others existence more and play off each other in dialog. I was expecting this improvement in ME2 and came away disappointed -- a lot of the time characters said nothing at all, and third wheels just loitered around with no input whatsoever. These characters are supposed to bring out the best and worst in each other, but aside from one or two scripted encounters between two or three specific people there was none of that.

I totally agree. I also wish there was more communication between party members outside of the Normandy. An example is when you talk to that detective during Samara's loyalty mission, you can tell her that it's stupid to obey an order that will most likely get you killed. And one of your squadmates says "we're allowed to disobey suicidal orders? Why wasn't I told?" and your other squadmate makes a comment. Stuff like that is really kool.

Like a baldurs gate style dialogue thing? that would be cool.

I want the old level up system back, with more then two power ups.

I would really also like a mix between the old weapon system and the upgrade system. (And the old armor system, would be nice too.)

Also: PLEASE GIVES FEM SHEPS A DECENT ROMANCE BESIDES GARUS, MAKE A HUMAN COOL! Seriously they are either all whiners, annnoying, or Think they are too bad ass to actually talk to you. (Sorry Zaeed)

ME3 needs Miranda back as a LI and squadmate. Oh, and more dialouge with characters and what not. Not just reach some point where it's the same conversation repeatedly.

ME1 and ME2 survivors as squadmates. For the final installment of a trilogy there is no excuse to sideline anyone at this point. A new squad would simply be a stupid choice.

Less scanning and more exploration. First, scanning is rather boring. If spare minerals could be purchased or found in higher amounts this wouldn't be much of an issue. Second, too many sidequests are too linear. The world feels to small and less open because of it. Despite some flaws, the MAKO system is still the better method of side quest travel.

Varying ends to each romance. Weddings/commitiment, parting, pregnancy, and such. This isn't as important as bringing back the characters, but it would be nice to see some variation in how certain actions affect the romance.

More casual costumes. Maybe DLC will help with ME2, but so far I have only used the default costume. The others are either ugly or simply don't fit thematically.

More squad interaction, on and off the ship. ME2 was a step backwards in terms of interaction. The on ship conversations were limited, there was almost no banter off world, and the few scenes of actual confrontation between squadmates were good but too few.

Also... greater variety on strippers and their routines. This is rather insignificant, but having these supposed strippers always wear and dance the same way throughout the galaxy and between ME1 and ME2 (for the most part) was rather jarring. Also, too many Asari as strippers in ME2.

So far, the one and only thing about ME2 that I'm not happy about is the way your imported character's relationship vanishes into the ether. Sure, it's been 2 years, but still, if you had a relationship with someone, they're not going to just ignore you after you come back, or (worse yet), treat you as if you're just an intelligence asset for them to use.

I was very disappointed with the relationship failure on my imported character.

A small, frivolous addition to my earlier big post:

- If you're going to have "fling" options, or what's better, non-squaddie romances, please keep in mind Shiala, Gianna, and Aria.

Someone else will have to come up with the male equivalents... Perhaps Joker? Donnelly?

Mass effect is hands down the very best game I've ever played. I enjoyed the trilogy so far and look forward to the next more than ever. I'm creating this topic as a goal for the community to reach out to Bioware to make mass effect 3 the very best it could ever be. ME2 Seemed to suffer a little bit in areas that ME1 thrived in. These are a few things that I personally would love to see in mass effect 3. Although I'm well aware we all would like different things, it'd be great to have a few things back from ME1. Things that really made it shine, and possibly some new elements in the mix as well. I feel as if ME2 has gone too far into the FPS-Action only, and will probably have hardly any RPG aspect in ME3. If we don't correct it soon, it'll be too late. With that said, here's some things that I would love to see in ME3 to really give us that RPG feel.

Give us levels that make us feel like we've accomplished something! (VERY IMPORTANT!)

What's the point in leveling up a character when you don't unlock
something for getting there, or have a harder time fighting something as
you level up. Let me give you an example. This game levels you up very
well but you have no challenges. Enemies seem to stay at an incredibly
balanced difficulty throughout the game. It'd be nice to have enemies
outside of your level that are too difficult to kill, or much harder.
Another thing would be level requirements for certain ship upgrades,
guns, ammo, armor, etc. Give us the illusion that the higher the level
we are, the stronger we are! IMHO there was no
sense of this in ME2, and half the upgrades we got we never noticed.

Bring back the Inventory (upgradeable sizing)

Theres always a good feeling knowing what's in your backpack. RPG gamers love looting! It's always exciting to pick up something that may, or may not be better than what you currently own. Another aspect of that great RPG feel could be to upgrade our bag size. Looting objects and selling them at different markets would be great. For instance selling something at OMEGA could be more valuable than at the Citadel.

Upgradeable weapons/armor (The NEW fasioned way)

I don't really like the new weapon upgrades as much as the first ME. I think that for ME3 something completely different would be great for everybody who enjoys this game. Give us content! Perhaps a new sniper rifle barrel, or a different scope/zoom distance. Magazine size/Ammo size. ETC. Something that really can make our weapons UNIQUE! Everyone can have the highest upgrade, but with this method of customization there's many more ways to enjoy killing the reapers!

Where did the vehicle go!? Please. . . Give it back!!

I loved the driving aspect of the game. It really gave you a sense of how large the game was. It mad me feel cramped having to walk around everywhere. I'm not exactly sure why, but for some reason whenever I got into the vehicle the game just felt that much bigger to me. I loved it. It may not have driven the best, but it sure was a great part to the game. I heard of talk about them creating a vehicle, but I've completed the game, and explored every planet with no success of driving one, nor did I see a place where one could be used.

Please, Make the citadel larger.

This one is crucial to me, but I'm not sure how this strikes other gamers. I really enjoyed the citadel in ME1, not soo much in ME2 though. It seemed a lot smaller and the fact that it was just a bunch of levels on top of each other wasn't much for me. I really enjoyed being in the Citadel in ME1 and loved to explore the life in it. The Citadel in ME2 seems lifeless, just a bunch of shops and levels. I guess it's hit or miss on this one with the community, but I though I'd point it out.

While doing missions, make them less linear.

Hard to get lost during a mission, it always felt like a hallway leading with doors to the objective. DON'T get me wrong, I don't feel as if the game is linear, but 80% of the mission are. There's usually only one way to go, one way to complete it, and one way in/out. Open it up! we want to explore!

Keep the Normandy just as exploreable/vehicle

Another big one for me. I think it'd be great to have the normandy land on a planet, walk down to the cargo hold, get into a vehicle, and drive it out onto the unexplored planet. Something tiny, but it's this attention to detail that really makes a game shine!

More Normandy fights!

In ME2 we don't really use the upgrades for anything at all. We spend thousands and thousands on mats upgrading our ship. . . and for what? A quick dodge at the end of the game? I wanted to really see how the upgrades worked, all I seen was it go through some debree. Some dogfighting would be great.

Give us Earth! If ME3 really is the end of the trilogy (better not be!) than at least let us explore our homeplanet. Have the reapers invade it or something. I duno, just bring earth into the picture. I want to see it in the future.

Keep this as the best game I've ever played, just put some more RPG elements into it!

I hope this can be stickied, and we can all come together as a community to make Mass Effect 3 the best game to ever be released. . . . Until ME4-100 of course. :)

I love most of what you said and agree. I think ME3 with end up being some were inbetween ME1 and ME2 mixe with a few new add ins to hopefully in prove on a already kick ass rpg/shoter hybrid (note rpg 1st shoter 2nd) hens the great store invloment. with that said keep in mind that ME is a pre-pland triligy. it's just a matter of mathod of dilivery. so far so good ME1 was kick ass in it's own way to have made ME2 just like it would have worked but you have to apeal to the fans so some changes were made some good some bad. but the only thing that is a constent between both is for as vast of a world you have made in Mass effect it lacks in personal content. good add on with the models and pets,  but add more clothes for when not on mission. And deffently more up grades don't push power over verity. more is better even if a lot of the buffs are redondent it's the flavor, the personal touch a player gets with there avitar even if there is a set over all outcome.  give us side games like gambling on omaga in a card game of skilan5  or we can buy and sale stock on illuim and  more city's or space stations to inner act with and explore. even if there is not much to do but one or two side games or quest. and maybe a side job to help exlpore existing or new station/city's in more dethep (I.E. bounty hunting or cargo hauling jobs.)  the list can go on and on there just make it fit the mass effect universe bioware has made.  And last is more levels. just like now you don't have to max out to beat the game but it's nice to have reward for doing all the extras content and doing more then just the story. that going to lead to replay value.
Now as far as earth goes i hope to see it in ME3 and think it would be a huge misstake if it's not in ME3! I see plain as day diraction with the story but still expect to be suprized with ME3. a lot of this content talked about could be future DLC for ME2. the team has worked hard makeing the game they deserve some time to rest and reflect on there masterpeice before hitting the programing rooms writting new DLC less then a month out on selfs.  and if they make us wait 2yrs or more for ME3 they better have some pretty cool DLC's for ME2 this triligys has the ability to give us a lot of filler via DLC between releasing's. They should use it to help promote ME3's story with hints and clues as to what may lie ahead in ME3 as well as save based bonues like with ME1 and ME2.
With that said I leave you to injoy your ME2 playing. Injoy

For ME3 I would like to see more power evolutions, 2 choices, relatively insufficient, but if moving to say higher levels than 4 using the same system, maybe improvement choices based on the previous ones also. I like the new leveling system as when you finally earn something it makes a difference where in the original ,everything was so small and incrementally insignificant leveling up was pointless.

I would like the inventory to stay gone, it was just a mess of weapons whose differences did not matter in ME1, this streamlined version was much preferable, no point in having 50 guns that all do the same, the 3-4 we recieved that were different in function of each was much preferable.

Research - Would like to see some branching instead of just linear, otherwise enjoyed the system thoroughly.

No Mako = good , enough said

More interupts, can never have enough, love the ones that were in the game.

I liked how the optional quests were all kinds of odds and ends, lots of different mission styles, would like to see this diversity kept or expanded upon. Although the missions were linear, I did not feel funneled due to the good backgrounds and cut offs, the levels were well designed and allow functional use for the classes, without making you wander around doing nothing searching for upgrades, I don't play games to grind or waste time.

Still want to see a controlled space battle, but won't be upset if we don't get one.

I agree with some of these points, but we don't need the inventory back and the RPG elements are fine.
