ME3 needs the right balance.

Very well put. Short simple, and straight to the point. I agree

Hmm yes, I agree too.

1. Inventory System - ME1 = too extensive, ME2 = too breif. Something in between.
2. Assigning points to powers - ME1 = too many options (leading to OP maxing), ME2 = concatenated options (not enough differentiation)
3. Exploration - ME1 = long Mako Drives!, ME2 = Firewalker Pack and Probe Exploration... balance needed!

The Charactisations in ME2 though were brilliant... Jack, Samara, JOKER, Edi, Mordin, Legoin and Kasumi, were all very excellent renditions of personality. (Kasumi was the most subtle!)

It would be awesome if they made it a real monster of a game, like a good 40+ hours of story missions, i know that these games take ages to make and it will never happen, but one can still dream.... oh and it would be cool if you could have like 5 squad mates out in some missions that would be sweet.

Agreed:

1. ME3 should be a monster. 80 hours total. ( effectively the same size as ME1 and ME2 together )
2. Yes, more members in the squad would be cool for some missions
3. Expand on the "multiple teams" from collector base mission where u might have to play as one of the teams members, leading an alternate group.

Just some things I'd like to speculate on:
1. The Illusive Man I suspect is the Shadow Broker.
2. The Illusive Man I suspect is not a Human but in fact a benign Alien from an ancient race (possibly a non-altered Prothean who escaped the Reapers previously) who is fighting the Reapers.
3. Evidence for this comes from EDI's ability to defeat the Collector cyber suite (the Illusive Man's access to technology to rival the Reapers/Collectors)
4. Evidence for this comes from the Illusive Mans eyes - he is digital one way or another - a preserved consciousness of sorts etc.
5. The Illusive Man also says at one point that the Collectors (and Reapers) are the biggest threat to Shepherd and humanity, and the phrasing excludes himself. (initially he refers to himself as human generally)
6. When queried on the quality of his information about the disabled Collector Vessel he says something like "information is my business" which places him squarely in position as a possible "Shadow Broker"

Give each team member a different weapon set to each other, unless of course they are from the same company. Weapons like Grunts shotgun was great. Whilst it couldn't be used Shepard, it gave Grunt his own individuality in battle.

Give them different weapons and benefits for each sistuation. This way missions could be even more different. You could either take the guys who are best suited for that particular mission, or you could take someone less beneficial but have a chance to discover different dialogue.

Here Is My Top Ten Wishes for Mass Effect 3

1. An Inventory system that makes sense, I quote this from someone else, i'm not sure whom but I don't want Shepard to be carrying a shopping cart full of stuff through space, but one like the one in Oblivion where there is a weight limit. here is another Idea from another game i played, many people will hate on me for this, but the bank system from WOW on your ship.

2. A weapons, armour and powers system for all characters, that makes almost everything customizable and upgradeable with noticeable upgrades that can branch off an make each character quite unique. I think I used able words too much there.

3.Keep the story as epic and fantastic as it already is, or make it have an amazing conclusion.

4. Make Earth not only explorable but major cities explorable, so we can see how they have changed over the years, nuclear wasteland for one city, possibly and for the other hub world make them quite in-depth so you can do plenty of exploring on each world/ space station. PS. make some places only unlock-able through different routes in the story.

5. Many many more conversation routes, so the characters can have more awesome conversations like in ME2 + conversations after the final mission, if that is possible.

6. An in-game clock so you can interact with characters at certain times, but not others and so they eat, sleep and move around, like real people. To extend on making things seem more real, have more conversations intractable so Shepard can get his two bits in. The characters on the Hub world should live and move around so they seem alive.

7. More than one way to reach the end of a level but not too open so we can focus on the story but enough to get us the illusion that it isn't linear levels

8. Relationships that are more than sex and three conversations, please have touching moments between love interests during missions, like when we have to make tough decisions also nudity, and multiple meaningful sex scenes.

9.Recruit new, awesome teammates: like a surviving Prothean from a colony deep in space that escaped the reapers, or from a ship that was lost in space and time. Maybe some old crewmates, or a Volus that charged into battle on a hovercraft complaining about not being on the council and trying to sell **** to our enemies. ( that was a Joke)

10. Unmask Tali by freeing the Quarian homeworld or reuniting the Geth and the Quarians, so Tali and her people can breathe freely without masks. have other epic plot twist like that please.

I would love any of these things to come into play so please consider what i have suggested Bioware PS. I don't care how many discs Mass Effect 3 is on just make it as awesome as it can be.

Shepard is still the main figure in the game. Ashely, Miriam and Jack must also be there.
If you play as an male Shepard, I guess you have had a romance relationship with Ashley in ME and sex with Jack and relationship with Miriam in ME2.

In ME3 all this three girls should have your children, strong biotic children, that will be with you in your new squad, and they are more powerful than Shepard.
This child shold be powerful adapt children, with new and dangerous power, for your enemies.

If someone has some more ideas, just comment this!! :)

Lol, I try to imagine Jack taking care of a children. You're crazy dude.

Maybe, that is what she need, someone to give her love to. Love she never expired her self. And think what a power biotic child this must be?? *LOL*

Planet Scanning becomes awfully boring after a while. I wonder how that beats the mako exploration in ME1, where besides all else you would get to see new worlds in terms of planetary surface, but most significantly the sky. The skies, remind me of UnreaL. And mako exploration is certainly more gameplayable then a mere click-and-probe minigame...

Adding to that, the exploration system is horrible. There's no reality in dragging the Normandy in a schematic of a sol system or cluster... Besides nobody performs unnecessary maneuvers unless in combat. In transit all you do is plot a course, as it was rightfully implemented in ME1. I hope they fix these gameplay flaws in ME3 even perhaps by introducing sth new. Of course, that would be more interesting, suffice it is not as redundant as in ME2.

Last comment on travelling:They should resume Normandy's docking and exiting through the airlock, at least for the major hubs. I wonder, because they did put an active door at the airlock without any profound meaning since it leads to a dead end. The player may still have business on a world after the completion of a mission and it would be nice to see sth different out of the windows for a change...

One more thing. Having the same button storm and enter cover is a bad idea. Shepard seems to get stuck on well, everything sometimes leading to cheap deaths.

To all of those who are saying something along the lines of the quote below:

You are obviously not RPG players so go find a nice linear straight forward FPS or 3PS to play and leave these bull**** ideas out of the heads of the devs for Mass Effect games.

Mass Effect 1 was perfect! There was not too much content at all.

Mass Effect 2 was stripped down carnage of Mass Effect 1 and was a huge slap to my face.

Mass Effect 3 needs MORE! Emulate the pure perfection of ME1 and add more! More!!!

I don't care if idiots get confused about what to do or where to go or how to level/gain money ect. I don't care. If you don't like a good solid RPG play something else. Quit ruining ME with your ****ty comments.

I can't be the only one who's noticed this: In ME1 & 2, only some species have both genders represented (excluding asari of course), and there are no children. Are people just grown in tanks like Miranda now?

Oh, just as a joke (what with him disintegrating at the end of ME1 and all); Saren, brought back from the dead by Cerberus as a team member (like Sarevok in Baldur's Gate II)

Holy smokes past 150 posts and still going!

Well I'm grumpy and this is right up my alley.

1:) Don't leave the game hanging on a cliffhanger and don't let little skirmishes or big fights go behind the scenes, that just kills the bone thrilling sensation that the first ME had.
I mean the game was cool but really I wanted to see more than Thane or some other person calling me back saying they're doing their best.

2:) Remove the wimp kick, seriously you guys need to watch some kickboxing, just the way he pivots and throws the kick is enough to make the Swarzch-man say: Girlyman.

3:) I agree equipment should be an issue if it's part RPG at least that you can go and get the junk you salvaged to either sell it or use it to upgrade gear for yourself.
And upgrades being available by buying company permits from vendors wouldn't be a bad touch.

4:) Don't ever do the promos with the characters being interviewed they looked like a batch of crybabies, I really had difficulty not killing them after watching the promos while I love playing the good guy.
Instead just make them do the typical team battles like you usually do and make'em strike a pose, this is me ironically being a crybaby...

5:) Bring back the scar system, it's just annoying not having the scar I started of with the look isn't the same now, specially since the hairstyle in ME 2 that I had for ME isn't the same.
I'm sure it's not impossible to make the scar you've chosen for your character's face to glow along with the eyes and otherwise the scar will still be there, just not as devilish.

6:) Having the missions seperate from the explorable areas is kind of annoying since if I skip something then it's done I can't go back other than to restart the mission.
I'd rather have them stay together and have missions like the one on noveria to knockout civillians 'cause ME2 just really puts me off in the sense that I know what to expect which is enemies...

Personal wishlist>

1:) I'd like the choice of having one of the love intrests pregnant let's say Tali and Ash's like, OH NO YOU DIDN'T when they meet up again.

2:) I'd like to see a Volus and/or Elcor companion it'd make for perfect comedy relief if at least for the egineering crew in the ship.

3:) I'd like to see more Martial Arts move from Shep, like some Thai-Boxing, Aikido moves or Greco-Roman Wrestling throws, no judo or Jiu-Jitsu for yoo!

4:) More Shep and Joker interaction like>
Shep: Joker, I think we need to have a man to man talk. You know birds and bees?
Joker: Shep what're you on about? I don't have a GF.
Shep: Well There's a time when a boy meets an AI and the AI is falling for that boy...
Joker: ...

5:) And most of all more flirting with every female alien to the point where Kirk'd be eating his heart out, no matter big or small, little or tall. Asari, Volus, Elcor and even Krogan need to know you need some internal plumbing fixed, Shep's ready to oil up the pipes anytime.

Yeah, I need to get laid >_>

Migt as well toss in my personal Top Ten list:

In no particular order, well the first one is most important to me:

1) Strong central storyline that ties ME1 and ME2 together and provides a satisfactory conclusion.  We're in the endgame now and Shep needs to be focused

2) Outfits for the crew and squad that don't make them look like a) superheroes B) strippers or c) a sports team (seriously, the grey and black of ME1 crew was way better than the Cerberus uniforms)

3) An absolutely EPIC storyline for the LIs, especially for those who stuck with their ME1 choices

4)  Make the choices we made actually matter.  Not just emails or cameos, actual "boy that decision sure came back to haunt me" consequences.  At least for the major choices.  I know you're looking to make ME3 stand on it's own for new players, but please, for the sake of those of us who import from ME1 to ME2, to ME3, we want to matter!

5) Interrupt system: Briliant!  Expand on this!

6 Loyalty missions:  Also great, but don't make them the main plot this time

7) Balance between the inventory system of ME1 and the armor pieces of ME2 (ME1 practically rained loot, but there were too few options in ME2)  Customizable weapons also a plus

8)  Bring back exploration!  Those were very nice corridors I got to run down in ME2, but it got kinda claustropobic after a while.

9 A truly worthy end villain.  Good idea: Saren  Bad idea: Terminator Kong

10 More skills!  More customization for Shepherd's and squad's abilitties

Minor points: stuff I'd personally like to see but not as hugely important:

A  Would like game to be very long.  Both ME1 and ME2 felt short to me.  Subjective I know

B Customizable design on armor was a good deal (Some of those armors in ME1 were ug-ly).  Should keep this and maybe expand to squaddies

C Would like to revisit some places from the previous games, like Feros and Omega, and see what kind of effect I've had

D) Squad banter

E) Lots of between-mission dialogue with squaddies

Another thing I hated about ME2:

- The fact that your weapon armor customization was completely stripped away from you. The game completely spoon fed you all your gear with only the option of finding "research" projects to strengthen them. This system was just outright gay.

- Making the specialized ammo into "skills" was a complete mistake. I loved in ME1 finding new ammo types and upgraded versions of them as you advance through the game. You could customize each squad members ammo type to suite the current battle and you could change ammo types on the fly for every weapon. That was an amazing system and gave the user more control over how things work.

- No weapon mods. This worked great for being able to customize your weapons and your entire squads weapons for any situation and it was great fun to have control over what mods to use in each scenario. I loved when I finally got my first assault rifle with 2 mod capability. This type of element was not present at all in ME2.

- No armor mods. The same as the above point, it was great modifying witch mods each squad member would use for each situation.

- I guess all of these fall under the lines of no inventory and no loot

This game felt completely controlled and you have no real control over anything as the user like you did in Mass Effect 1.

PLEASE RESURRECT THE GREATNESS OF MASS EFFECT 1 IN MASS EFFECT 3 WHILE KEEPING THE AMAZING STORY TELLING.

One thing I would love to see in ME 3 is the return of my character's love interest from ME1 or the option of having the love interest from ME2 return if you went that way too. It just makes the story line fun and gives it some depth.

ME1 was good but, there were too many items (limit of 150), no thermalclips (just shooting and walking, no tactics). But of course the side quests were absolutly brilliant.

ME1 is good.
ME2 is nearly ok.
ME3 should be perfect.

I mean in ME3 I would like to see some small inventory (wrote about that couple of times already) just for upgrades. More skills, also like wepon skills and things we get thanks to long training (if u use one skill/wepon all the time you get some upgrades and bonuses). Side missions like in ME3 and the main plot more focused on the problem not on team gathering. It sucked in ME2. It was like flying from place to place collceting people and then just hit the collectors base.

As for other posts I must say that Prothean team member would be cool. Maybe after the fall of collectors some others relised what they did? But still they are now geneticly modified. Ot maybe we will find something like Ilos where they are still asleep. But really I could do with the squad I have now. I really like those people, the only ones which I don't expect to see are Zaheed, Samara and Jack. They accepted to join just for Collectors. Maybe they will stay but we don't know that. I gues Mordin will stay, he has now acess to the whole human technology. And the rest like Garus or Tali are easy to guess. But what troubles me is when we will get the posibility of recruting a prothean we will have the posibility to sleep with him. Gush, it was horible in ME2. How the hell big lizzards and reptiles has the same way to love as humans do? I understund Assari lovers but Thurians, Drells? I don't know how it goes for quarians but they have rather humanlike lookout but nevertheless they are aliens.

I agree. As WhatHappenedToMe said a game like this should have extensive ingame customizability, like weapons and armor, mods to them and a multiplex skill system that define each and every player as they choose all these... As for the recruitment missions they are the ecuivalent of the first 3 in ME1 only way more in number. I ust say, for an RPG such diversity is welcome if not needed, but maybe there should be some linking of sorts always depending on the course of action you take.
What I would like to see in ME3 (since in ME1 we got from 6 squad members to 12) there should be a sea of available recruitments, lets say around 20 and you only have room for ten, so you will have to choose which of the old squadmates you would take (ME1 & ME2 perhaps) and which of some new possibilities. Also each squad member should have more than one "loyalty" or "get to know you better" missions but restricted availability. For example you can choose to spread loyalties evenly among all 10 squadmembers or go through all 5 loyalty missions of some one in particular and give lesser or no attention to others (or sth in between). In that case, the love subplot would present itself more as a challenge since you will have to go through all 5 loyalty missions of that person (5 is just an indicatie number).
Overall that would bring some great diversity in the game, alot of playthroughs and postgame playing as well: when all is over, you might want to go take care of those remaining loyalty missions (which will be plenty), now that there's no pressure.

...or sth like that anyway...

EDIT: Lets say you have an availability of 18 loyalty missions, you could either go like this:
  • 2 loyalty
  • 2 loyalty
  • 2 loyalty
  • 2 loyalty
  • 1 loyalty
  • 1 loyalty
  • 2 loyalty
  • 2 loyalty
  • 2 loyalty
  • 2 loyalty
or complete the Paramour ach.:
  • 2 loyalty
  • 2 loyalty
  • 1 loyalty
  • 2 loyalty
  • 1 loyalty
  • 1 loyalty
  • 1 loyalty
  • 1 loyalty
  • 5 loyalty (love interest)
  • 2 loyalty
or be extrimist:
  • 0 loyalty
  • 3 loyalty
  • 0 loyalty
  • 5 loyalty (survives campaign no matter what you do with him*)
  • 0 loyalty
  • 0 loyalty
  • 0 loyalty
  • 0 loyalty
  • 5 loyalty (love interest)
  • 5 loyalty (survives campaign no matter what you do with him*)
Total 18 before you will need to rush into the main campaign which might not be just a mission and not even a linear course since it will depend on what objectives you choose to accomplish and what squad members you loose in the attempt (also defined by the above distribution as much as the assignment themselves).

*whereas for lesser loyalty you must pay attention to the abilities of a specific squad member.

Oh boy, there are a few things i would like to see in ME3....

Customization is always good(just like about everyone before me stated), i want to have further exploration...and i never thought i would say this but....i miss the Mako. I was one of the few who didnt actually mind its terrible handling and insane vertical climb ability. I also miss the Presidium... i guess that ties in with more exploration...but its missing and i want it nonetheless, did I mention customization??? I want that. A lot more side quests would be good to, and a lot more intricate ones would be nice to. A lot in ME2 seemed to be like, "Hey, go talk to person A for person B, persuade person A to do something that will benefit person B then go collect and award from the said B person. Along with being able to turn on person B and side with A." This has been done before... a lot. Some of the quests were entertaining(like Partriarch on Omega) but still...for me there is more to be desired.

Customization. Now for the customization. I didnt like at all that you only had 2 suit variants for your squadmates. that seemed kinda blah. And dont go and call what you could do to the spaceship "customization." Customization means its custom and unique to only you. There was only a certain amount of upgrades for the ship and since everyone could only get the same thing, thats all it was...upgrading, not customizing. The only decent customizing we could do was with the armor and I will admit, that was awesome. Although i think a bit more design templates would been nice.

But yeah, thats what I want.....whatd'ya think???

The thing I liked about the Mako and the Elevators that everybody else seemed to hate was: The seamless experience. In ME1 if the planet did not have a port to dock with, you get dropped in the mako and you find your own way to the objective. In ME1 when your going from one part of a zone to another you use the elevators. While elevators are not all that exiting, they added to the seamless experience rather then just using a loading screen. Who wants to stare at a loading screen?

ME2 was not seamless in any way and everything was plotted out for you in advance.

ME2 they should have just dropped the RPG genre title and gave you a mission list like any other shooter game. Because thats what it was.

I don't understand how BIOWARE can justify starting a game such as this, a RICH story driven RPG with innovative 3rd person shooter combat system(Mass Effect 1) and then completely remold the game into a completely different game and continue that same story line. Its like going to see a movie that becomes your favorite movie, but it leaves you hanging waiting for the sequel at the end. When the sequel comes out you find that all the original actors have been replaced yet they are playing the same roles and following the same storyline as the first one. It is a completely new experience and it is not welcomed on a continuation of a storyline.

I think the only way ME2 is even justified in its inventory, equipment & loot system is the fact Cerberus is funding Shepard this time around. Don't blame Bioware, its Cerberus' fault! For the sake of the entire game of ME2 I just kept saying "Why can't Cerberus let me personally pick my weapons & armor like my team... wait nevermind they picked them too..."
All jokes aside, I really do hope they bring back the ME1 inventory system & just touch it up a bit. Maybe add in a few sorting buttons for the collectors... pun intended...
Maybe let us "bank" the countless items on the Normandy so we don't feel so encumbered when we look at our inventory?
I know Shepard can't carry hundreds of items because he does not have a magical backpack, maybe put a limitation on how much loot we can carry so we empty out on a regular basis. Kind of, make us pick & choose to bring certain things.

Off the topic of inventory, I must say the thing that bothered me most in the story of ME2 was the other characters. Shepard is smart enough to wear armor to protect himself against the many planet environments but seeing the other members, lets target Jack for a moment because she's only wearing straps. I'm on a toxic planet, fully geared. I look to my right and Jacks dead already. Why? Well because before we left the roach, she said "I'll be fine, I don't need a F*n suit, you can take that suit and-" and before she could finish I kicked her out onto the planet with her cute little girly gas mask. Planets toxins just ate her up... don't you ever sass Commander Shepard again!

Who even made that decision?? To NOT let the other party members get planetary armor? Who said "Helmet Toggle, cut it!" ? And who eventually said "Um.. that's not even realistic" and got fired because someone else wanted to stare at Jacks tattooed body while they played. It killed the immersion & created a larger emphasis on "...well That's not plausible"

Jack doesnt need armor for toxic environments...her life was toxic enough already and she developed immunity and a very thick skin. Thats why she can get away with wearing very little on hazardous planets. :) either that or the developers like having party members wear scant clothing as they like subjugating the meek NPC’s by reminding them of their lowly status....mmm maybe the last option is better.

More evil options for Sheppard in ME3

-With character creation more facial features + gray hair color would be nice. Dragon age seems to have a larger variety of facial components, something like dragon age.

- I hope shepard will be again a specter and return to the alliance or at least leave cerberus behind, playing a cerberus operative as paragon is a bit far fetched for me, especially after the events of ME.

-Loose the ME2 story based on the same type loyalty mission template ([insert squad mate name here] has been betrayed by father/child/co-worker/friend/whatever, I mean c'mon you can do way better than that).

-Actually loose the complete linearity of ME2, ME1 gameplay in story sence was way better.

-I liked the mako missions more, no hammer head linearity, gave the sence of real exploration of a planet.

-would be nice if all the squad mates could be aquired and play missions without being forced to start the end game.

-summing it all up, return to the ME gameplay but with better graphics plus ME2 combat system.

I think Combat powers shouldn't be powers like the tech and biotic powers, more like equipment. ... Well Adrenaline rush is cool, I'll give 'em that, but things like Concussive shot, Inferno grenade and Flashbang should be simply equipment. Or, they could be renamed as Grenades.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Concussive shot should be fired from the Assault rifle, and usable only when you're wielding the Assault rifle. That would make it an exclusive "power" to soldiers. You could research or buy upgrades to improve the damage, cooldown etc of grenade "powers".

There could be other grenade projectiles fired from the assault rifle. The soldier could choose which grenades to use on the assault rifle at the start of a mission, or he could change them on the fly, whichever. They could include explosive, concussive, incendiary, etc. Flashbang would remain handheld, but incendiary grenades could be handheld as well for other classes. Grenade ammo would be picked up from heavy weapon ammo containers or such.

Finally, ammo powers should be equipment too - like in ME1. It's a bit silly that ammo is class-restricted, when in ME2 it functions like equipment in that you can give your ammo power to squadmates, but you can't actually use it without your squadmate which is silly.

what i really want is for bioware to do is NOT LISTEN TO HALO OR GEARS OF WAR FANS
