Mass Effect 3 Wishlist

2. More interaction between squaddies. Something that's the equivalent of the old elevator conversations, or the banter from Dragon Age.
3. A replacement for the thermal clip system. My problem with the thermal clip system right now is that is feels exactly like the ammo system in every other third-person shooter in the world. As described in the Codex, the guns in Mass Effect are incredibly high-tech, and I'd like it if they actually felt that way.
4. Same-sex romances. I get that Mass Effect isn't Dragon Age and Shepard isn't supposed to be infinitely malleable according to player whim. I get that. But I do think the decision to exclude same-sex romances means that a pretty sizable percentage of your player base aren’t able to feel the kind of immersion in the game that straight players do. And honestly, I don’t think the option of same-sex romances would change Shepard in the eyes of most of your fans. He’d still be the same intergalactic badass he always was, and he’d be a lot more accessible a character to your gay fans.
5. When importing a save from ME2, I’d like the option to edit the imported character’s face without having to start from scratch. I’d like to be able to start with the imported character’s face as a baseline, and just tweak from there.
6. [Fanboy]Let us see Tali’s face, dammit! [/Fanboy]
7. More/better hair for Femsheps.
8. A hybrid of ME1 and ME2 style exploration. I’m not wildly enthusiastic about either ME1- or ME2-style exploration. I think in both cases, the ideas were solid, but the alchemy just wasn’t quite right in either case to make it as much fun as it could be. Ideally, I’d like a most planets to be explored via ME2-style scanning, but with a few tweaks to make the process less passive and more interactive. Then, I’d like a small of those planets to be explorable via some sort of ground vehicle. Perhaps the planets with anomalies could require ground exploration before you get thrust into a mission. And finally, I’d like the planets that you’re visiting on the ground to have environments that are unique and detailed enough that the process of exploring them is enjoyable on its own terms.
9. Ship-to-ship action. I realize that this is probably asking too much, but I’d love to be able to hop in a gunner’s seat on the Normandy and shoot down enemy fighters, or at very least watch the Normandy pwn some Batarian pirate vessels in some kind of cutscene. I love space battles, so much so that I’d like it if they weren’t purely end-of-game type events.

More Dialog!
I know there was already a lot in ME2, but it still felt way to limited. It felt like I only got to talk to each of my squad mates maybe three times before they had nothing more to say to me. They never had anything interesting to say about any of the missions afterwards, unless you talked to them after the end of the game. The only way to get more out of one of them was by romancing them. It felt like I only barely got to know these people. Don't get me wrong I loved all of my squadmates, and each one was a well defined, truly fleshed out person, I just wish I had more to talk to them about.
I should point out the added ambient dialog you heard from random strangers in the various hubs was awesome, keep up more of that.
I suspect part of the issue may have been the addition for more party member, making it difficult to do detailed dialog for everyone. Personally I think you can do more, but assuming this is the case I would say I would rather have fewer characters I can get to know much better then more squadmates I barely know.
This leads right into my next suggestion...
No New Squadmates
... or at least a very limited selection of new squadmates. I refer to completely new team members here, not the total number of teammates in ME3. This might seem odd but there is a very good reason for all of this, and it comes down to story and character development. We already have a huge array of great characters from the first two games, adding too many more characters tends to dilute the experience. You can already see how many people want their favorite characters return. I'd say for ME3 you should focus on just those characters as potential recruits. Thereby allowing the players to get to know them better, see their characters develop further, rather then having to get to know all new people all over again. People that you have no real attachment to.
Of course this assumes these characters are still alive for ME3. But I think that would add more to the depth of ME3. Unlike the previous two games, the number of available squadmates will be hugely dependent on who actually survived. That will give a major sense of your actions and their consequences. If these people died in a previous game the number of potential recruits dwindles accordingly.
Let's assume that Liara and Ashely/Kaiden will be teammates in ME3. That's two right there, the bare minimum needed, though clearly this puts you at a disadvantage. There may be one, maybe two more new teammates available to fill out the details, give the players someone new to talk to, and give you all the tools you might need to complete the game. But that's it. Everyone else will be prior teammates you're bringing back for the final mission.
If you didn't keep enough people alive you will have a vastly diminished crew to choose from.
ME2 was meant to be more character driven, but the character interaction just seemed too limiting to really get a sense of this. A feeling significantly diminished when it came to Garrus and Tali specifically because their prior shared experiences gave then an advantage from a character development standpoint.
More Loot!
The weapons in the game were a bit of a disappointment. The only exception possibly being the Heavy Weapons. All the other weapons pretty much left you with only one option at any time. Once the weapon was upgraded there was no point going back. In fact the option to change back to a previous version of the weapon was pointless. There wasn't even any stats on the guns to let you know why the gun was an upgrade, it was simply pick the latest gun you had and ignore everything else. God that's boring.
I want more options, more meaningful distinctions between the guns. The streamlined inventory worked awesome, don't get me wrong. I love being able to find one gun upgrade and know I could give it to my entire squad at that moment. I also loved that I didn't have to carry around every gun imaginable (when not playing the Soldier), Like my squadmates I only brought the guns I actually use. What I didn't like was never having any real choice about what guns to bring. There was only ever one choice, everything else was pointless.
On the flip side of all this, I did like that you could pick up an ultimate version of a particular weapon on the collector ship. Unfortunately this was a bit boring as well. You pretty much just walk into the collector ship and pick up your gun, and that's it. I kinda wish there had been a bit more involved in that. I would have loved to see an optional side quest to talk to some bizzare weapons expert who can give you the plans for an ultimate weapon as a reward for a quest. Hell that Krogan "scientist" on Tuchanka would have been perfect for the role.
One last note, I notice a lot of the requests here have been primarily focused on the RP elements and not as much on the action/shooter elements. Take this as a sign that you're doing an awesome job on the action side of things. In fact feel free to add even more action, via longer missions, etc. I really do love this combination of RP/Shooter, and do far Mass Effect is the only one doing it right.

- Hybrid Weapon system between ME1 and ME2
I would like see that weapons can cool down on their own. Maybe a count of rounds till the weapon over heats but by not firing it it would regernerate the rounds slowly. Thermal Clips should be for instant cool downs.
- Paragon and Renegade Scale Shows Actual Level or Percentage.
I have a problem when my scale is maxed out and I still don't have access to dialog choices. If my meter is full I should be able to do any charm for Paragon or intimadate for Renegade. Also I seem that in ME2 depending on your level the needed "points" needed to charm/intimadate changes. That should stop. I can give specific examples that I'm have problems with if you message me.
- Back to the Old Cover System
I liked the old ME1 cover system better than ME2. I could always enter cover and didn't matter what I pressed against I always could get into cover. Some walls and good positions you can't enter into cover in ME2.
- Squad AI
Squad AI should be smarter than the Enemy AI. I have had problems in ME2 with squad mates not taking cover when ordered or they would break cover before ordered. Also they don't use there power apporiately.
- Better Weapon Placement
It seem like in ME2 if you played as an Infiltrator you got screwed. You couldn't get any decent weapons until half the game was already over making unlikely that I will ever start a new game or ME1 Import again for this class. Of course if the limited ammo wasn't an issue that might change things.
- Better Weapon Damage
Head shots should cripple or kill organics in one shot. Doesn't matter what weapon used.
- Biotics Attack Restriction Removed
Biotic attacks should be allowed if the target has Armor or sheilds. May the Armor wouldn't let them be lifted high into the air but at least should impare there ability.

Bring back Loot. The loot system of Borderlands is incredibly complex and makes each run through interesting with the random element, but still having enough bosses drop specific named items so that the player never bad-off if he doesnt get a special drop.
Mods need to be brought back as well. Even if it is just another selectable. More customization is a good thing.
Please also consider adding armor to squadmates. I always find it a bit humorous that Jack can block a rocket to the body while wearing nothing more then a belt that covers her nipples. So please let us customize squad armor or use special powers on characters like Jack to make it seem like they are protected.
Non-linear research, and maybe even have research take 'time' ie missions.
Dual paths to an object would be cool in a level. One path is better for a sniper the other is better for frontal assault.
For character interactions: Consider linear conversation between characters. I personally like the idea of shore leave for squad members on non-hostile locations, like illium or Omega. Like if you dock at Omega and you take your 2 squad members along, the rest of your squad could be sitting around drinking in Afterlife. Consider taking some of the character conversations off the ship and into the wild.
Still, ME1 and ME2 are very enjoyable. Thank you for all your work.

-Earth Mission (this is bound to happen though)
-Better Mini-games
Planet-Scanning was lame, hacking and bypassing were better but they were still unnecessary because they took no skill and they were just annoying. While im on the topic of mini-games...
-Gambling Mini-Game!!
I want Mass Effect 3 to have a gambling mini-game similar to Pazaak from KOTOR. Quasar sucked ok! A card gambling mini-game is the way to go! I was so addicted to Pazaak that I pretty much lost all my creds playing it...luckily I got back to the top the same way
-More side-quest worlds, less systems.
I want to explore more worlds, ME1 had 1 world per system, ME2 had about 1 world per cluser. I reckon the perfect balance would be to make less systems and have at least 1 side-quest world in them. Its even better if there are 2 worlds for a system. I want to look at the sky and see a cool planetary vista and think "I was over there 10 minutes ago!". How cool would that be! Seeing a previously explored planet in a vista! Make it happen Bioware!
-Combat is fine but it needs a few tweaks.
Most TPS have blind-fire and dodge-rolling. I was surprised that ME2 didnt at least have blind-fire! If you want to make combat perfect put blind-fire in and maybe balance out biotics a bit. They arent as underpowered as most people make them out to be but they should work against armoured enemies (except the mini-boss ones like Scions, Harbingers and Praetorians).
-More environmental hazards
In ME2 there was a certain planet where walking into the sunlight burned your shields...that was VERY AWESOME!! I want to see more things like that in ME3...a planet where you have to avoid meteor showers...a planet that is collapsing as you are walking on it...lava hazards...ice hazards...wind hazards everything! Make sure theres not TOO many though, 5 or 6 is good (sidequests included). Maybe make one where theres an achievement for evading the hazard flawlessly! (think of HL2 and 'dont touch the sand' level)
-Heavy Weapons
Heavy Weapons are great! To make them even better would be to have secret areas...which can only be unlocked by using a certain heavy weapon! eg. Cain to blow up a rock wall, Avalanche to freeze lakes/waterfalls so you can access the secret goodies, Firestorm to burn through thick jungle, Particle beam to melt through thick metal walls...maybe make each heavy weapon have its own environmental uses. This would be great for the next point...
-More Exploration!
ME2 was lacking when it came to exploring, this is because the environments were very linear. Fix this by putting 'secret' areas in which hold goodies such as creds, upgrades, guns, resources and anything else!
-Loot
Bring back some loot, dont make it so thick that managing it becomes a hassle...Make everything unique, picking up copies of things is pretty annoying.
Thats about all I can think up for now...Ill post more if I think of anything else.

Change the upgrade system again, preferably to a more balanced version of ME1's modding system. Just only let us mod weapons on the ship and at weapon lockers, have us "unlock" mods rather than gathering thousands of them and give it each mods benefits a draw back that negates it (so modding doesn't make weapons better, just specialized)
Add more variety in Armor and Weapons (not LOADS, just one/two new weapons per catergory and a few dozen armour pieces)
Change the armor and shielding mechanics so they only "resist" powers, rather than just make people "immune"
Make the Heavy Weapons more power full. We only get about a dozen shots for them, they should be totally imba.
Don't:
Revert anything back to the ME1 version.

This would be awesome. All this talk of torfan and we can finally see the place.
I'd love to revisit some old places and see how they've evolved too. It'd be great to check out how eden prime is rebuilding. And Zhu's Hope. Maybe return to Horizon or even something cool like investigating where sovereign was landed on the other side of Virmire. Even if returning to old locations were just short N7 missions, it'd be cool.
I'd love to see some more mission variety. Not every mission needs to be fighting through hallways with random meter high barriers that have no purpose but for cover. I'd love to see more missions like Thane's loyalty and Samara's. Some stealth, some conversation. Assassination. Vehicular missions. Diplomatic missions. Some investigative missions. The new combat system is great but i'd love some more depth to the missions, not just get here by shooting through a small army, repeat.
And yes, I agree with everyone who says bring back the RPG. Take a page out of dragon age's book and up the ante with shops, party banter, exploration, cities and hubs. More focus on telling story with twists and turns, the ME2 story, while fun, didn't really have that much to it.
Also being able to purchase more heavy weapon ammo at a store would be great, especially when it takes 3 missions to build up enough ammo for 1 shot of the cain.
And, like everyone has said, the adept needs to be fixed.

I felt that ME2 was a better game as far as the combat, graphics, and character development was concerned. But i felt that there was more content to ME1, and i became more involved in the storyline than in ME2.
Things I would like to see improved in ME2 DLC and / or ME3
1. Vehicle Exploration
People seem really torn on this issue. I agree that the mako was cumbersome and the planet missions were long and trivial. But I also had way more fun exploring planets with the mako, then i did simply landing on them via shuttle and going directly to and from the Normandy.
However, the Hammerhead DLC is slated for release soon, so I reserve any judgement until then. Biowares done a great job so far, and Im hoping the Hammerhead will provide at least 15 new planets to explore with some side missions.
2. Character Continuation / More Storyline Altering Decisions.
Bioware did an awesome job incorporating Garrus, Tali and Joker into ME2, The Wrex cameo was also well done. Liara was a let down as far as depth of coversation was concerned, but understanable that she would not be included in a more active manner. It would be nice to see a solid continuation of that into ME3. Perhaps Miranda turns into an Enemy or Ally depending on decissions you make at the end of ME2?
It seemed like in ME2, which i have done 2 playthroughs with (One from scratch, and one with a import of my ME1 shepard), that most of the critical decisions made in ME1 did not result in serious changes. Im excited to see what bioware cooks up for us in ME3, It seems like a return to the Alliance / Council is an option vs continuing to work with Cerebus.
It would just be nice to see the characters in ME2 and ME1 continue into ME3, and have all of your decisions that you made playing the game over and over, lead to REAL tangible changes in how the game plays out in ME3.
3. Customizable Loadouts (Armor and Weapons)
I agree with Bioware and many critics of ME1, the original inventory was a pain.
However, more customization is urgently required in ME2!!
Weapons
The evolution of your weapons load out is un-exciting and un-immersive. There are no opportunities to really customise the kind of attack your guns will perform outside of the ammo skills. I've always been a fan of biotics / tech characters, but the reduction in the number of weapons and the customization of them has dissuaded me from playing the soldier class at all.
Keep the current upgrade system but allow Shepard to choose different types of upgrades for different weapons, and allow this to be applied to each sqaud members inventory just like in ME1.
We dont need the inventory back, but we could at least have some immersion in the upgrades menu.
Armor
Visually the N7 armor is very customizable. There is no visual customization (So far) for the DLC armors.
The N7 armor allows a small amount of bonus customization. Simply build on that, and expand this to the other armors.
Bring back the toggle Helmet option!!!!
Increase armor diversity, like in ME1. Allow the Player to purchase armors on other planets (Illum / Citadel / Omega), not just upgrades to the existing lot.
Looking at the big picture though, Bioware did a great job with the new armor. Refining the small details for ME3 would sell the experience that extra little bit.
The biggest flaw for me in ME2 was the decrease in immersion to increase the speed of play.
4. Restore the Citadel to its former Glory + all the other cities too!
Some people dont like walking places, some people are all about getting things done. This is totally fine, and ME1 and ME2 both offered that option when it came to the citadel; Rapid Transit.
In ME2 the citadel seems more like a Marketplace then an Inter-Galactic seat of Government. You cant walk anywhere except to the places required for the missions. There is no free flowing feel anymore, you cant even walk to the embassies to punch Udina in the face.
For those of you that dislike walking.. take rapid transit. But please bioware, bring back some of the glory and expand upon all those random almost meaningless side quests that used to pop up all the time in ME1. With an exception of the two that show up on the citadel in ME2 *Cant specify because of spoilers* But what about things like Nassana who sends you on a mission accross the galaxy?
I think this applies to all the cities. They need to be bigger and allow the player to really get immersed in the culture or beauty of the locations. Everything was very quick and dirty in ME2 and there just wasnt as much content.
5. Side quests (Whered they go?)
Mass Effect 1 was full of side quests. Practically every single star System had a side quest. ME2 was very focused on the main quest. Even major hubs like Illum, Omega and Tuchanka had no more then 2 or 3 side quests. The citadel had that many side quests on its own in ME1!
Like the vehicle thing, im reserving judgement on this until the release of the Hammerhead DLC, but either way it would be nice to see more side quests in ME3 (For those of us who enjoy a thorough play through and not just a quick and dirty encounter). I paid 60 bucks afterall, and there is no Multi-player, so content must be a big concern for the player.
6. Can we Finally Explore Earth or what?
The title says it all....

I also would like to see some class related dialog options. To often their was a point where I was going "I'm a biotic why do I have to play dumb and ask what an L2 is?"
I'll add more to this eventually but those are my big want to see's.

Use Weapons Training instead of Ammo Training:
When you think about it, ammo training doesn't make as much since. It comes out to what type of bullets you can use and then how effective said bullet is. The characters should be allowed to alternate between different ammo types as a way of adapting to different opponents. Each gun, on the other hand, has different handling that must be considered when using them. Just because you've been taught the basics doesn't mean that there isn't room for improvement. Practice makes perfect, right? So weapons training should be available in Mass Effect 3, and ammo types should be interchangeable. If necessary, they could limit the amount of improvement available in this area if they feel it will make gameplay more reasonable.
Allow previous unique abilities to return:
In Mass Effect 1, characters received different benefits based on the class that they chose. Soldiers could reduce damage taken, Engineer's could improve their shields, and biotic powers had a wider range of effectiveness. These traits need to come back as they were important in establishing differences between different classes. They provides different incentives based on one gameplay preferances. I kind of wonder why they reduced their effectiveness. In ME1 you needed a tech specialist with you if you wanted to obtain extra items and the like. A biotic could provide better support by more effectively disabling enemies. They could use these to add to the uniqeness of each class.
Allow more options for the obtainment of Weapons:
In the first game it was felt that there were too many items that you could find. It seemed to pile up and only overload the players inventory. But in the second game there were too few options for obtaining better guns. They should allow you to find, or buy, more guns in Mass Effect 3 but limit it from the overwhelming options of the first game.
Allow more options for weapon upgrades and customization:
I liked the research projects that were available to improve the performance of your weapons. But I also liked having the ability to add modifications to my weapons to make them more effective. I think that they should combine the two, let the player research a few projects for different upgrades but also allow changable modifications so the user can have more unique weapons.
Allow more interactions between characters and allow continuing romance:
I think it would improve the story overall if the characters were to talk more often while you travel with them. They don't seem to comment enough and could use more conversations with the player and with each other. More conversation would allow different personalities to be shown more completely and add to the experience. Romances should be carried over to Mass Effect 3 in a way that allows special continued conversations to those who sought them in the first two. More conversations would make relationships mean more plotwise.
Allow more choices for Armor/Weapons for you and for your squad:
I liked how they did the armor in this game, There were more individual pieces, each having the possibility to contribute different things, and the option to customize color and appearance. I think that they should expand upon this by adding more options and allow you to also customize the armor choices of your team members. You should have the option to improve each member of your squad and achieve various results.
Allow there to be a romance scene like what was in Mass Effect 3:
I know that there was some criticism regarding this but I don't think there should be much of a problem. That scene was a powerful tool in conveying the depth of the relationship and contibuted greatly to the plot. It wasn't something done for the sake of perversion and was kept modest. There weren't any objectionable details in the scene, just the passion itself so there would be nothing wrong with having a that kind of scene in the third game. Other games have gone further than that without causing any major problems.
Allow something like the Mako to return for missions but keep the planet scanning:
I think that this would be a good combination of both games. The Mako was missed in the second game as Planet scanning/probing took its place in finding resources. Most would probably agree that scanning/probing is a better means of finding resources, but miss being able to fight through some missions with a vehicle blasting its way through. I suggest creating some missions where the Mako is used to compensate for this loss and return the experience to the gamer.
Some things that I hope will be in Mass Effect 3:
I hope that they reveal what the Quarian people look like. As a person who romanced Tali I think it would be a great contribution and I eagerly await this revelation. The mystery of the Quarian people has persisted for long enough, hopefully Mass Effect 3 will grant this new insight.
I think those who romance someone should be able to address the issue of marriage. It could even be a personal side quest to introduce your character's love interest to your family, even meet theirs. I realize that there will be important battles coming up, but such personal moments should be enjoyed, especially in times like that.
I also like the idea of Shepard being able to have a child that is shown at the end of the game, especially a cross-species child. This would allow Shepard to be more than just a soldier, gives him another role to perform. He'll then have to balance out protecting the galaxy with raising the child/children.
I hope that Bioware considers the suggestions that I have made. As a fan I eagerly await the release of Mass Effect 3 and the suprises that it will have in store for us. If I think of any more suggestions I will add them to this forum or to other forums. Hopefully these will work for most gamers out there and create a truely spectacular game. Best of luck Bioware!

- No new squadmates; Initially I was alright with the idea of a few new squaddies, but after playing ME2 some more I'm doing a 180 and hoping that ME3's squad is ME1 squaddies + ME2 squaddies.
- Bring back the Mako. It seems many people's issues with it was that the planets were bare, so the solution seems to be have fewer planets that have a lot more stuff i.e. settlements, wild animals that want to eat your face, pirate hideouts (and maybe have a few that DON'T want to kill you at first sight), etc.
- More powers / skills. I like ME1's skill system, except for the weapons and armour. I like ME2's system, except for the power evolutions which were either "power has a bigger AOE" or "power is stronger" ( I would've liked to see more variety ). So whichever system gets used, I'll be happy, just gimme more powers to smite mine enemies with.
- Tali'Zorah
- More Armour customization options for Shepard and the squad. Squad outfits were underwhelming, so I want them to go away
- More weapon customizations. By the end of the game, everyone that upgraded their weapons had the same weapons; the same look, the same damage, the same performance. In ME3 we should have the ability to make personalized weapons. We should be able to choose what they look like (model, colour, lights, apperance of projectile, sound it makes), their performance (accuracy, rate of fire, damage of each shot, distance, size of clip, max zoom), and anything else that would make the weapon "ours". These upgrades should be permanent and you should not be able to fully upgrade all aspects of the weapon. Now tha I think of it , it sounds like a mix of ME1 and ME2 upgrades.
- MOAR inter-party interaction. I want Tali'Zorah and Garrus to strike up a convo when we're doing a mission aboot how this is reminiscent of a previous adventure we all had; Or Miranda and Jack to get into a catfight 'cuz they hate each other. See DA:O for clairification
- I NEED the Council to apologize to me for not believing me sooner. It should be painful for them. I should be able to gloat a little, even if I pick the Paragon option. I should be able to make the Turian councellor do the apology, with the rest of the Council either proddiing him on or quietly smirking.
- There should be a playable epilogue. Pretty stright-forward.
- As inconceivable as it seems, Joker should somehow be made more awesome.
- Harbinger should taunt us throughout the game like Irenicus did in BG2.
- MOAR easter eggs / in-jokes aimed at us forumites Like this or This or a Blasto cameo
That's all I can think of for now, so I'll finish by endorsing everyone else's suggestions, except for the ones I disagree with:P
edit1 : NO PLANET SCANNING!!!! IT SHOULD BE DRAGGED OUT BACK, SHOT, AND BURIED IN A SHALLOW GRAVE. DO NOT WANT!!!

Honestly I'd just love to see more of Garrus being awkward.
Also- once again I know this will be a pain- I'd like to see some different combat methods for the characters. Grunt has his charge, but how about Thane executing a quick melee combo on organics that get too close? Or Mordin, when not ordered to hold a position, chains back and forth between cover delivering quick, accurate shots with his pistol. Have Jack and Samara do some incredible things with their biotics. They don't need to be frequent things, but it'd be nice to see characters do something drastically different every once and while.
On that same note, we know Jacob and Miranda have a past, and Tali and Garrus were with us in ME1. How about some combat-specific banter? I could see Tali and Garrus arguing over who's giving who covering fire, and Miranda and Jacob tossing light-hearted insults at each other.

ME1 did have too much loot, but ME2 has too little. Re-addition of armour/weapon mods would add a lot. I do not miss the overflowing weapons-and-armour inventory, but it IS nice to * get stuff *. So while I don't mind the removal of excessive loot, I do miss real stores, and I do really miss choosing what me & my squadmates would use, instead of only having 'starter weapon or improved weapon' to choose from- thus removing the 'choice' completely. (Boring.) I also really, really miss armour & weapon mods; I was often swapping those around depending on the situation, and I really liked that. That's the kind of tactics I enjoy- planning and preparing. I think I could be quite happy with our current setup, especially if we could see more stats...IF we could see a return of something like the ME1 mod system, so we could tweak our gear choices to our preference, either at any time, or even only at weapon lockers.
I don't miss the Mako, but I miss what it represented- exploration. The Mako was a hard to control Tonka Toy bouncing weightlessly over jagged, bland landscape after jagged, bland landscape, but it was still exploration, and it still had that (very important to me) random discovery element. You just don't get that with the scanning. The scanning is just 'Oh look, EDI found an anomoly here.' We didn't really discover it- EDI did. I don't mind the scanning, but it's kind of excessive and quickly gets boring. It needs a little something extra, or it needs to be used only for a few specific things, I think. It's not as frustrating as the Mako was for me, but it's simply repetitive and boring.
Add something back to the character-building process. The shooter combat isn't why I enjoy this game, (shooters are a genre I typically hate, so I won't go into detail of my dislike for some of the shooter aspects), I enjoy it because of the story & characters. (Also because BioWare are my Canadian Overlords. Truth.) ME2 feels a bit...stripped down character development-wise. It feels like I have far less choice in how to level my character & my squad... far fewer choices means there's not a lot of variety. I can't see myself replaying ME2 nearly as much as I replayed ME1.
*The new characters are great! I hope they and the ME1 crew all have important parts in ME3- so please don't introduce another large squad! It seems so strange for me to be saying that, but the already introduced squadmates (from both games) are important to Shepard, so they should be an important part of ME3.
*I miss squadmate banter. There was a little of it, yes, but it adds a lot of life to the game, so I wish there would have been more.
*I hope the Citadel is repaired enough for more exploration in ME3.
*I didn't really like always knowing where fights would be, due to senseless, inexplicable barriers appearing all over the floor. Jarring.
*I love the new Normandy, especially EDI!
*I somuchlove the interrupt system!
*I love being able to select my armour pieces & their colours (for that reason alone I never wore any of the DLC armours I have), and I love selecting my casual outfit- though I wish we'd have been able to purchase more at the various hubs!
*Bring back keybinds for weapons, screenshot, etc. If I want to go from weapon 2 to weapon 4 I shouldn't have to CYCLE THROUGH weapons 1 or 3 first, or 'hit shift to bring up the hud and manually CLICK on the weapon of choice'. I shouldn't have to load an outside program to take my screenshots for me, either.
I apologise for the terrible mess, but my thought structure is always very disorganised.

So in the next game I'd like to see a longer, more in depth and complex main campaign with a better build up (do all your mucking around until you're ready to go through the relay then there's the climax and that's it, isn't good enough). Maybe some missions linked into mini campaigns would be good (similar to what Oblivion did). Like maybe someone's assassinating specters aroud the galaxy, and the specters call you in to help them find out who's doing it. So you have to go from planet to planet investigating what's going on and tracking down the assassin. That would be good because it would remind you that you ARE still a specter, in more than name.
And since I'd very much like to serve the alliance again, either as an alliance officer or a freelancer, maybe there could be a mini campaign where the alliance is trying to crack a powerful pirate fleet, and you do a series of linked missions for Admiral Hackett (who it would be great to meet in person and Lance Henricksen's da man) to that end.
In short, I just don't think a series of short, unrelated missions making up the bulk of the game is good enough for a game of this budget and quality.
