Loyalty meter
Let's face it, some squad members are neutral, other paragon'ish and renegade'ish. A renegade squad should disagree with a paragon Shepard and vice-versa.
I want Shepard's morality choices to impact on his squad. A very loyal squad would sacrifice himself for Shepard while a disloyal should betray Shepard.
Squad's personal quests would play a more interesting role. Stuff like recruit back a squad that defect, settle a score with a squad or even switch alignement like turning a paragon into neutral renegade(or maybe full renegade).

Yeah a loyalty meter would be great. Really make it feel your decisions will affect what your squad thinks of you. A larger citadel is a must though. Just going to the presidum and talking to Anderson ans seeing all that area that made the citadel so great in ME1 really was a kick in the guts.

The Mako! I enjoyed driving the Mako in ME1. However, the Mako's handling was aweful, and many of the planets didn't have much in the way of content or detail. Perhaps a hover version of the Mako, similar to the Hammerhead? But with not quite as large of an area to drive in on each planet.
The "Citadel" in ME2 felt like a rather small building to me and not the center of galactic commerce and government that it was supposed to be. ME1 got the Citadel a bit better.
I liked the limitless ammo in ME1, but with the possibility of your weapon gradually overheating, perhaps combine it with ME2's weapon heat management, so when your weapon does overheat you can eject clips, but aren't forced to play that way. Your weapon would eventually cool off again if you didn't eject a "heat clip" or were out of "heat clips".
Heavy weapons, keep them but I tended only to use the missile launcher or the grenade launcher, the other more exotic models never seemed to be effective as they took forever to charge up, by that time I would loose shields and die.
Customization, I loved being able to customize my armor look in both ME1 and ME2, but I think ME2 had far less customization options for the armor, at least in number of armor types. I also missed being able to change the armor my squad wears, found it kind of odd to see Jack in combat with no armor on.
I missed the ship boarding missions from ME1 in ME2, boarding some of the various MSV ships was fun, even if they were all fairly similar in design. ME3 needs more random side missions.

2. I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to see a high drama physical confrontation between LIs. I would pay good money to see Ashley and Miranda have at it......THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!.... a cat fight of epic proportions!!!
3. ME had 1 disc, ME2 had two discs so......................since this is the end of Shepherd's story, why not give ME3 three discs? I want ME3 bustin' at the seams with content. There are so many things that I want to see in ME3 and two discs won't cut it. For example, I think that it would be great if Shepherd became a parent. Also, since Shepherd has saved the galaxy, it would be appropriate if he/she became a new class of operative, some sort of uber spectre......perhaps becomming the first "Master Spectre." I'm just saying that since Shep has done so much he/she should be rewarded with a title befitting of someone who has repeatedly saved the galaxy.

I also like the idea of being able to choose such inconsequential details like lefthanded etc, thats some out of the box thinking that would really bring some deeper feeling to the universe, as well as make Shep really feel your own.

The mako like most people say needs to come back.
The citadel was the biggest disappointment for me in ME2. It was so dark and just layers of retail and galactic news. In ME1 we saw the great presidium. Which was just one single room in ME2. We saw a grassy, waterfall like presidium in ME1 and to just see layers of dark rooms was a completely different thing.
Inventory! Is a must for an RPG. And it was terrible in ME2 that you couldn't find items that could benefit you and your party greatly.
And finally more planets to explore. Scanning an uncharted system and landing on an unknown world is great fun. More of these would be great.

2. I miss being able to click on my team to ask them what they're thinking while on a mission. It would be nicer if they also provided relevant information, perhaps they saw or heard something? [Just realized the person right above me mentioned the same thing]
3. More same-sex romance options would be great. I also really liked the idea of having a date with Kelly (which was only implied)/Sitting down with Morinth at the bar - that sort of intimate interaction really gives depth and opens up a stronger and believable flirting.
3(a). What I really liked about Kelly was she would always have something to say - she would even sometimes ask how I was doing after a mission. She also seems like she needs me - she's not a solider or a biotic and I really enjoyed the drive to try and save her!
4. I love Femshep - I love her more when she's angry. Can she get into more brawls please? I think a Paragon should also be able to get into a few honourable brawls.
5. I liked the inventory system in ME2 - its very simple and efficient compared to ME1. I think even the team members were allotted the better guns automatically, which is great.

Armor needs a little more "pimping" options as some have said.
Also I agree with Icinix, why does Shepherd walk with a limp?

Bioware don't be such weenies cause it caught some FOX rage last time around. The ME1 sex scene was fine, and still a cool little perk for spending the downtime talking up characters. So what's up with the Headbutt from Garrus or the Tackle by Tali? It's not like even the most testosterone driven teenage boy could do anything with it. Yet it still gave players a sense of "Ah, Mission accomplished." Where as ME2, it was more "What the EFF?!"
Seriously.

Hello, I represent the We Wanna Bang Samara Coalition. I have been selected by my esteemed colleagues to submit this letter to you in the hopes of bringing our cause to your attention. We humbly request that Justicar Samara be seriously considered for a love interest in Mass Effect 3. We here at the WWBSC truly feel that Samara is the best possible match for Commander Shepherd. She is honorable, humble, strong, self-sacrificing and she is willing to die for what she believes in ( just as Commander Shepherd). These are traits that only a few individuals possess. If Commander Shepherd (male) and Samara were to have a daughter, she could possibly become the first Justicar/Spectre in existence.....that alone could provide galactic security for centuries to come. With regards to the 'other' contenders, we shall explain why Samara is the best choice.
Miranda....test tube baby, too involved with Cerberus, can't be completely trusted.
Jack...too much baggage from her past and an all around nutbag.
Ashley...due to her actions on Horizon has completely eliminated herself from contention.
Tali...the obvious health issues, could possibly die in childbirth OR conception.
Kasumi...isn't really interested in Shepherd, has the hotts for Jacob.
Liara...her obsession with the Shadow Broker has completely consumed her every waking moment.
These are only a few of the numerous reasons why we here at the WWBSC feel that Samara is the best choice for Commander Shepherd. So, in conclusion, bangin' Samara is a good thing........a VERY good thing. Bioware we humbly request that in Mass effect 3, you wave your magic wand and let the banging' of Samara commence.
Sincerely,
Prince of Kemet

WEAPONS & ARMOUR - I think they have gone to far either way in each game, ME1 had too much and ME2 had to little, I would enjoy some form of weapon customization, ie physically changing appearance, and upgrading in certain ways, ie put focus on damage, accuracy or ammo capacity. Also the amount of guns to choose from needs to be increased, it seemed as if there were only 2 choices per weapon type in ME2 and there was always a clearly better choice. I really enjoyed the addition of armour design and it must be in ME3, I hated it in ME1 when I got an armour upgrade that was pink and white. Although, like with the weapons, I would have enjoyed more variety in the armour pices i had to choice from.
COMBAT - For me the addition of ammo was a good choice, it makes the game better flowing and you dont end up having to monitor how much you are shooting before a 5 second, or longer, overheat period. I would have liked to see a squad size of at least 4 people, you are trying to save the galaxy and a few extra hands never hurt. I can see the few down sides to this such as your team becoming to powerful but knowing BioWare they could come up with a way to conteract this.
EXPLORATION - Like the inventory I think BioWare has downsized the exploration side of things way to far, but in ME1 there was too much pointless exploring. You need to pretty much double the amount you had in the ME2 but bring back a few elements of the driving found in ME1. The reason people would have disliked driving would have been the amount of wasted time spent using them to explore, put driving into quest situations like it was on Feros in ME1 and people will come back to it.
UPGRADES - In my opinion there needs to be a mix of upgrade aspects from both games, I loved the fact that everyone could simultaniously upgrade their specific weapons without having to hunt down the mods, but I also enjoyed the individuality that having different mods on different characters brought to ME1, you could have people specialize in killing synthetics and others could have the ability to blow people a few meteres away with a single shotgun attack. Bring back mods but keep the general upgrades.
SCANNING - In ME1 you had the option to skip the whole resources hunting process if you wanted to but in ME2 it has become a necessity, although I like the addition of interactivness to it, eventually it just becomes tedious. I don't personally have any ideas on how to improve this aspect as I believe that the resources hunting for upgrades should remain but just have a think about a way to make it more enjoyable in th elong run, or at least not as slow.
POWERS - The way you can evolve powers is a big thumbs up for me, its just another way to help customize your characters to certain play styles, the issue I nhave is there isnt enough skills, but only barely. Basically all I did on my infiltrator was use cloak, incinerate and chuck on an ammo type when needed, there wasn't enough. There needs to be more to customize your class besides the already forced special class skill, (which I loved by the way).
CHARACTERS - The characters in the game have been done to perfection, especially Joker, I love that guy. My only suggestion would be to make them interact with eachother more more, like in the movies with Jack and Miranda or Tali and Legion, you could go to visit someone and walk in on a conversation between the two, just something that makes it seem that they all aren't insolated besides talking to you.
RELATIONSHIPS - Bring back the romance scenes from ME1, they looked authentic without lifting the game to a XXX rating, in ME2 they didnt seem realistic enough. Also make it easier to be nice to someone without actually turning it into a relationship, an example from personal experience would be my main is a paragon Shepard who is already in a relationship with Liara from ME1, because I'm trying to be the nice guy I ended up having to fight off every female crew member just to stay loyal to her which resulted in Jack most likely despising me.
NORMANDY - Make using the Normandy more significant, as someone already said after all the upgrades the Normandy really didn't do as much as I was led to believe. A few player controlled space battles would be nice but even adding a few more cinematics involving Normandy fights would be enough.
BODIES - Something I've found makes a game more realistic and enjoyable is when bodies and descruction remain. Theres nothing better than going through a mission then seeing all the destruction you've caused on the way out. Getting rid of the bodies should only happen in instances where they would realistically be removed, such as if you killed someone in a public area, the residents aren't just going to leave a corpse somewhere everyone can see them.
INTERUPTIONS - I love this new feature, it makes conversations all the more exciting when you can punch a nosey reporter in the face. My problem with it is the paragon or renegade sides seem to be on. Why should electrocuting a mercenary fixing a possibly gunship that may possibly kill you or your friends be considered evil? Possibly adding a neutral form of interuption or make it so you can peform the same type of interuption but in different ways, renegade possibly being a more violent option.
END GAME - As much as I loved the final mission in ME2 storywise I found that it didn't last as long as it should have considering all the build up it got throughout the game. This was supposed to be a suicide mission requiring the greatest minds and soldiers in the universe but instead it was a very quick get in a get out sort of mission in my opinion. I was expecting there to be so much more than what was given, especially considering the 2 discs. If there is anything like that in ME3 make it a long, memorable experience.
POST END GAME QUESTS - I absolutely love it when you think a game is over but it leaves you with even more to accomplish after that finally glorious mission, it makes it feel like it hasn't ended, ME2 finishes in a way where you can still explore but doesnt add anything after that. Think about this in the future
Although it seems like I've done alot of complaining these are just the details I believe could makes this epic series even greater. Overall I loved both ME1 and 2 and cant wait for 3 to be released, they are by far some of the best games that have ever been created. Hopefully some of my suggestions are looked at and concidered. If anyone has any ways of improving any of these ideas please let me know. Also if any of my suggestions lead to changes in ME3 please let me know by emailing me at westin24@live.com so i can brag to my friends.

Anyway, it seems as if everyone has a different wishlist, but the everyones expectations are not so dissimilar from eachother. So I figured, as a newer member on these forums, I'd give it a shot.
While I loved ME1, and ME2 even more, I feel tat there are a few things that can be added to keep the player on their toes. As you all know, nothing is perfect. It's always difficult to predict a story in a game, but this is what I'd like to see.
As we all know our decisions made in ME1 had consequences and made a comeback in ME2. ME3 I'd like to see some choices play more of a central role in the story, since it is the possible conclusion of a trilogy.
When importing your character from ME1 we are shown what choices played a major role in ME2, such as the death of Kaiden or Ashley, Council Status, who you recommended for the council, if you convinced Wrex to stay in your party, and If you were paragon or renegade.
It seems as if the general concensus also believes that all species will be united against the reapers in the final battle, based on who you keep and who you destroy.
For instance, I feel that the heretic mission with Legion will play a major role in ME3. I believe if you kept the base, it could either hurt you or harm you. Either the geth will reville with the other species, or they will turn back to their evil ways of destruction. Same goes for the collector base. It could either hurt you or help you, think about it, we're not really clear on the Illusive man's motives. His whole dimeanor is just a bit shakey.
After that little explanation here's a brief list what I think should be included in ME3:
-All characters that have played a role in this series. As a trilogy, those who lives who Shepard has touched should make some sort of effort to be on his team. But, this should be choice
-The council: I believe that they will be as arrogant as ever. Since they denied Soverigns attack as anything great, and they obviously didn't believe a single thing about the collectors. I'd like to see Shepard actually be able to acquire their trust at some point in this installment.
-Possibly a Space Station for Shepard with an army at his command. Let's face it everyone, the man has saved the galaxy from slow annihilation not once, but twice, the man deserves something a bit bigger and more advanced in order to fight off the Reaper horde. Maybe this could be a join Alliance/Cerberus project?
-Obviously your love interest from ME1 if you chose to be faithful. I'd love to see a love between Shep and Kiaden, Ash, or Liara actually develop. Also your love interest from ME2. You should be given the choice to talk to/kiss/cuddle with your love interest any time.
-Maybe the ability to alter our appearance and quarters a bit more than you could in ME2. Maybe you can have the ability to buy different informal wear. The ability to mix-match and buy different tops, bottoms, headwear, and eyewear. Obviously a new Cerberus/Alliance uniform.
-If the Normandy is still the main ship I'd love to be able to alter the appearance of your quarters and the actual exterior of the Normandy itself.
-Keep the minigames. I know that a majority of people don't care for them, but I believe the the hacking, bypassing, and mining fit into the game pretty well.
-Weapons are up in the air. It's such a huge variable that we're not sure what Bioware would like to do with them. Personally I like the weapons that we are given now.
-Maybe some sort of training regemine that Shepard can undergo in order to level up. Seems to work well in other games, I think maybe the incorporation of this could be a huge hit. Because this series does require you to level up.
-Last but not least, I know there's one thing that everyone would like to see. Actual Protheans. I know they've reportedly been extinct for 50K years, but remember, they were the collectors. Maybe there's some sort of planet out their containing a lost colony of Protheans. Maybe one that survived the invasion and indoctrination. If not a colony then definitely some sort of flashback movie showing the initial invasion and destruction.
I'll think of more later. Let me know what you guys think.

PLEASE make the import system better: when you select a save game for import into ME3, produce all the pertainent info right there BEFORE you import it so you can select another save game if the first is not the right one...OR after import, allow for "Go Back" so you can change your selection.
I have several saves from ME1 and even more for ME2, each with somewhat different choices, different love interests. I'd really like to be able to EASILY pick the "right one" for import without having to go by trial-and-error and keep exiting the game until I hit on the correct one.

Being a molecular biologist, I'm a bit of a stickler for my science even in scifi. As for the Protheans...in ME2 Mordin indicates that the Collectors are Protheans so altered by the Reapers that there is no way to "help" them/save them.
But there IS...and it comes from ME1. The planet where you talk to Vigil contains PRESERVED/mummified remains of THOUSANDS of unaltered Protheans. Simple (for this future time) cloning would bring back any number of physical unaltered/wildtype Protheans. As for them being able to regain their knowledge or culture...TOTALLY different kettle of fish unless the means by which Shepard was brought back to life (including memories) can be applied to Protheans.
Doesn't matter if the remains are 50,000+/- years old - their DNA would still largely be intact, especially since they were all in air-tight pods all that time.

The upgrades to the Normandy are critical, actually. Try playing through and skipping any of the upgrades. You WILL lose someone, or someones, if you fail to upgrade the Normandy.
On bodies, while I too would like the added realism of retained damage and bodies, I do not believe it is entirely within their power to keep them around. The more of that stuff you leave around, the more demand is placed on your computer memory and CPU. There could quickly come a point where you are bogging down your system. If it is possible to keep bodies/debris/damage around then GREAT! Please do so for the sake of realism.

That's what I figured too. I mean there are literally thousands of remains of staff, security, and scientists. I can forsee maybe using the lazarus project on one very important Prothean scientist. Hopefully the pods are labeled as far as who they contain.
Too bad Vigil is gone though, He might have proved more useful if they desired to bring back a few Protheans, or a specific Prothean to add to your squad.

I did not really care for the way missions were done in ME2. There was just somthing about getting a mission complete screen and then suddenly finding Shepard and crew back on the Normandy that killed the immresion factor of the ME world that Bioware created.
I would also prefer some more organic level designs. I didn't really notice it so much on my first playthrough but ME2's levels felt like warehouses with strategically placed boxes to cover behind. I would like to see more outdoor levels, a little less Gears of War and more Uncharted 2 for ME3's level design. I want to run throgh forrests, pass waterfalls, run of hills and mountains as well as fight on space stations.
...
More emphasis on the main mission. Not that I did not enjoy ME2's loyalty missions but the main plot felt kind of thin.
Better dialogue intercations with the crew especially LI's. I was dissapointed with how ME2 handled this.
It would be nice to have worlds/levels somewhat like those in FarCry (different game engine but still...you could sneak around in the brush and rocks, you could even sneak PAST enemies and not have to engage them).
I LIKE the side missions. If the game focuses too tightly on the main mission, then it is just a quick in-and-out fight, fight, fight...end of game.
I agree that the dialogue could be broader, deeper, and perhaps the LI interactions more extensive and variable. I'd also like to see a more ME1 style of LI interaction. Getting on with Jack or Miranda or Tali while they are all still CLEARLY wearing ALL their clothes (including boots!) kinda dinks the realism...such as it is.
