1. Being able to choose who you align yourself with. Take a look at my poll and you'll see most players are heavily divided on who they want to work for, it should be are choice.

2. No more space mining. It's really, really stupid. Why would a warship mine it's own materials?

3. Each power has a separate cool-down time, like in ME1. I liked how in ME1 you didn't need to use your guns all the time, it was an original aspect to the gameplay. Forcing us to rely on our guns 99% of the time in ME2 basically stripped away the original combat elements.

4. Seriously. No space mining. Don't try replacing it with some other boring and meticulous minigame either. Trying to pad out the game-play time with boring bullsh*t like this isn't cool. It's stupid.

5. Epic space battle. Seriously. I want to see Shepard rally the forces of the galaxy together to make one giant vanguard armada. One that will take on the reapers the moment they leave darkspace and force them either into retreat or into extinction.

6. Shepard negotiates a peace treaty between the Geth and Quarians, allowing the Quarians to return to their home planet. The geth don't want it after all, and they'd probably welcome the Quarians taking over the burdensome stewardship of that planet.

I want to see vehicles get the same treatment that 3rd person combat got in ME2. Refinement, enhancement, and improvement.

Bring vehicles back, make them smooth and fun to control. Refine the gameplay and refer to games like Rogue Squadron, Starfox, Unreal's vehicle sections and such.

I'd also love to see the Normandy get some manned thannix turrets (much like the millenium falcon) so we can participate a little bit more in those epic battles.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, a Submerisble and a Space/air fighter, on top of a hovertank, would be amazing. But only if it's refined and done right.

This. Being able to choose to report to the Council, Cerberus, the Alliance, or fly solo would be awesome. I know it would take heaps of work to create four different story structures but we can dream, right?

Also, yes, we should see more female aliens. Give us a female salarian squaddie! Or the fiercest, most pre-menstrual Krogan female in the galaxy.

The technology must be there to alter the number of squad members you can take/or are needed on a particular mission. The suicide mission in ME2 (I know everything built up to that) was epic. So many games I have played where you build a team and only get to take 1 or 2 members on that final mission. ME2 was perfect that the entire squad I built contributed to the last mission, and if some weren't loyal, they didn't come back.

I would like to see more missions where you get to assign some people to specific roles, such as the tech expert, or the 2nd fire squad leader.

And even progressing onto this, missions that require more than 2 squad members. The tech must be available now.

Maybe a more upgraded Normandy. Maybe having the Quarians engineer on it making it more high tech.

Miranda as my XO and LI

More people down in the engineer deck. So empty with only two scottish people.

Chakwas as a LI.

Bring scars back for character customization!

No multiplayer of any kind.

Replacements for Tali and Garrus. Male Quarian, and a Old Biotic Turian voiced by Client Eastwood. Koleyak replacement for Thane. Return of Ash or Kaiden. Marriage of LI. Liara turning evil. Miranda in a more sexy suit. Vorcha or Batarian squadmate. Same armor customization from ME2 in ME3.

Actual good Heavy guns like Arc Projector. Conrad saves Shepard from something.

It wouldn't be that complex. You'd do the same missions, but you'd report back to a different groups or none at all.

I agree, the suicide mission was not an anticlimax for me (too short!) due to the fact that you had to make smart choices about the whole team, more of that in different variations for ME3! And as you say, it made running around the whole galaxy completing various personal tasks for people make a whole lot more sense.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the loyalty factor, but I would like to see more than a new power for making someone loyal, like them actually gaining some combat prowess.

Hmm, christmas wishlist for ME3...Let's see.

Keep the loyalty system, preferably flesh it out so that you actually have to talk to people and gain their trust and not just complete a side mission and suddenly they would die for you.
I would also like to see that you can lose/gain someones trust due to the actions you take in specific matters. For example: Jack would'nt mind you beating up a civilian for information, but Garrus would, on the other hand, he would probably not like seeing you go soft on a criminal.

More missions of the "Suicide Mission" style where you get to choose different experts for various tasks outside of your own part of the mission. Choosing for example a bad leader for a second fire team should make your part increasingly difficult as the second team might not be able to complete their tasks, also this should tie into the loyalty system, giving someone a chance to prove themselves in one way or another should get you off their ****list, and outright ignoring someone who want's that chance should effectively put you on it.

A hybrid of the weapons upgrade system from ME1 and ME2, I want to be able to customise my characters and my allies armor and weapons to better suit missions, but I'd rather see the research of upgrades and making them available for all team members instead of having to find and/or buy a gazillion of the same upgrade to fit my whole team with it.

Armor for all characters on missions! The only characters in ME2 with armor worthy of the name was Grunt, Garrus, Zaeed and of course Legion. Seeing the others running around in a bulletstorm with their various outfits was for me to big a step away from ME1, especially when you're in combat with heavily armored mercenarys or Geth. Not that I mind good characteristics but let's just say that Jack's original outfit did'nt guite feel combatworthy :D

An update on melee. The simple elbowwhacking to the head just does'nt feel as something you would do to defend yourself against a charging krogan. Timing a melee attack right should go into an evasive/blocking move depending on who you're fighting and opening for a follow-up counterattack.

Vehicle exploration/combat. I was'nt a great fan of the Mako but it was crucial in making ME1 not feel too repetitional. Some type of hovercraft like a more beefed up but less mobile Hammerhead would probably solve the problem of the Mako looking ridiculous as it bounced around and the Hammerhead being all scrawny and too fragile. Maybe even some heavy-vehicle action, seeing that large Tonkah (is that right?) on Tuchanka made me think of tankcombat in other games.

Space combat!!! Damn it! We've been flying around the whole fricking galaxy in the two most advanced warships ever seen in known history for two games and all the actual action said ships has seen is some quick dogfights in cutscenes?!?!?!? Let's treat the Normandy v 2.0/E.D.I. and Joker as squadmembers and let them do some real battle. In space of course, we would'nt want poor Jeff breaking his fingers firing a pistol or anything, it would make E.D.I. quite angry that we put her brittle darling in danger :P

On the story I would love to see the Council and Alliance thinking you've gone rogue and going after you, preferably with Kaiden or Ashley as new Spectres charged with the mission to bring you down/in. This opening for various interesting encounters as you have to struggle to stay alive while being forced to get help from other outcasts such as Geth, Krogan and maybe even Batarians against the reapers since your former allies have turned on you. (Missions like making peace between Geth and Quarians, helping to unite the Krogan clans or even curing the genophage in return for their help would be lovely.) Of course the council would'nt take lightly to some of these actions and drawing lines between Saren's shenanigans and your desperate work to save the galaxy. In short, an even more perilous journey and being pushed even further into the moral grey areas.

That's just my opinion though, no need to go spreading it around.

The Loyalty system will probably stay in order to gain the loyalty of the other species such as the Geth, Quarians, Rachni, Turians, Krogans, etc.  Space Combat would be pretty boring though, because you might run into random ships that want to try to scavenge off your ship and take it down.  Customization must be fixed in ME3 and should have more options, while still being streamlined as possible.  A better final boss battle is needed for ME3, since ME2 the boss was like a rip off  of Terminator Salvation or the X-Men 3 movie.  Another thing I might add is that Garrus would not mind at all since in ME2 he showed his ruthless nature toward Sidonis and favors a renegade approach.

For ME3 please keep these things in mind:
The Mako! I enjoyed driving the Mako in ME1. However, the Mako's handling was aweful, and many of the planets didn't have much in the way of content or detail. Perhaps a hover version of the Mako, similar to the Hammerhead? But with not quite as large of an area to drive in on each planet.

The "Citadel" in ME2 felt like a rather small building to me and not the center of galactic commerce and government that it was supposed to be. ME1 got the Citadel a bit better.

I liked the limitless ammo in ME1, but with the possibility of your weapon gradually overheating, perhaps combine it with ME2's weapon heat management, so when your weapon does overheat you can eject clips, but aren't forced to play that way. Your weapon would eventually cool off again if you didn't eject a "heat clip" or were out of "heat clips".

Heavy weapons, keep them but I tended only to use the missile launcher or the grenade launcher, the other more exotic models never seemed to be effective as they took forever to charge up, by that time I would loose shields and die.

Customization, I loved being able to customize my armor look in both ME1 and ME2, but I think ME2 had far less customization options for the armor, at least in number of armor types. I also missed being able to change the armor my squad wears, found it kind of odd to see Jack in combat with no armor on.

I missed the ship boarding missions from ME1 in ME2, boarding some of the various MSV ships was fun, even if they were all fairly similar in design. ME3 needs more random side missions.

Face it buddy the Mako isn't coming back, the Hammerhead is the new potential vehicle for ME3.  Customization is very much need to be fixed for ME3 since there were a far less amount of things to customize.  I would like to sell my armor and buy other armor than sticking with the same armor the entire game.  A better final boss battle is very much needed since in the end of ME2 the boss was a letdown and was something that felt ripped off of X-Men.  This is the end of the trilogy for Mass Effect after all and they need to finish stong and go out with a bang if they want to top ME2.  Some areas in the game should have some more variety and should be bigger.  The Citadel felt very lifeless and often wasn't as grand as the old citadel in ME1 was.  I understand though this is due to technical limitation and progamming limations too, but please Bioware make that extra effort to make the Citadel more believable.

I second the removal of space mining.  It still felt very annoying that you have to research a ton of planets to get the resources you need to prepare for combat.  It should be banned from ME3 and should never come back.  One thing I also second is the female salarian, turian, volus, drell, and krogan.  Those are the things I want to have in ME3.

I dont' know who the poster of the original quote is, but out of what was said there, I would actually like to see:

1. Batarian squadmate of any kind (I really don't get the Batarian hate. I think they're a fascinating species and the story of their grudge against humans makes them more fascinating. Plus not all Batarians are human-haters)

2. Liara becoming evil. I think thats where Bioware may take her story and I would support it because it would add more depth to her character.

OTHERWISE I don't care too much what they do out of the rest of the stuff mentioned

but Tali and Garrus absolutely do not need to be replaced!

I agree, scrap the planet scanning completely. It's so frackin' useless. If Cerberus has so much juice, why doesn't T.I.M. supply Shepherd with all the weapons and upgrades needed to complete the mission?.......DEATH TO PLANET SCANNING!!!

I might be alone in this (not reading 174 other pages), but I'd like the elevator rides to come back in a shorter form. It really helped make places like the Citadel feel like a single, cohesive environment. That's the only place ME 2 let me down. The loading screens really broke up the flow and made it feel less like a seamless world that you could live in.

A faster method of resource gathering. I liked how you needed to gather resources from planets to manufacture upgrades, but it took too long to do in ME 2.

I'd also like to have your love interests play a more important role. Like if you stayed faithful to your ME 1 LI in ME 2, you get rewarded for it in ME 3. Also, if you cheated, that needs to be brought up in ME 3.

Apart from that I'd prefer the old travel system... I found it molesting having to fly around the Normandy and buying gas and probes and so on,
