The only way I could see some of the ideas here coming back would be if they sort of combined aspects of both ME1 and ME2 to make up ME3. I made a poll with some of the ideas I had: social.bioware.com/304000/polls/7156/
Go and cast your vote
But as I said, the developers would definitely NOT go back to strictly ME1 stuff (with the exception of a story focusing on events rather than characters) and combining things would be a good way to move forward.
For example; for the side missions on uncharted worlds in ME3, reintroduce large landscape environments like in ME1 but make them all original and different and make the final goal/destination/mission on said landscape like the side missions in ME2. I felt like you always just landed directly on top of your mission, with no build up, no drama, no nothing. You just landed, got out the shuttle and blew up ****.

The only problem with some of your requests is that it appears you want to almost revert BACK to ME1. As a developer they would never do this for many reasons; mainly because it would make what they did in ME2 seem "wrong" or a "mistake" and many people got into the Mass Effect series at number 2 and so it would seem a step back to many console players.
What you say is the SAD truth. While I really like ME2 a lot, I still prefer ME1 and feel Bioware went overboard with some of the new changes, Ex: Dumbing down RPG elements, completely removing inventory (uh, this is still is an RPG right?), added ammo clips, etc, etc, etc....
Sadly, IMO (please ppl, remember it's MY OPINION), I feel Bioware is slowly selling themselves out just to sell games to the mass market. I know, I know, they are a business and want/need to make money. I just feel they are starting to cater to ppl that were never and will never be Bioware's strongest supporters........

Vehicle:
Hammerhead is fine for me, but it needs few improvments,
-Health/shield bar
-Kinetic barrier
-Alternate weapon like in Mako?
Crew:
Need more interaction between crew/squadmates or whatever.
I don't belive that they sit 24/7 in their quaters and talk only with our cyber-jesus.
They could meet in mess hall and debate about recent evets, past events, play poker, striptiz I don't know what more.
ME2 feels too much like a shooter, I want more dialogue.
Less plot holes, preferbly none.
Tali:wub:
Better textures?
I know that in today's market consoles are the most important but don't treat pc like another x360(no offence).
When I see those blurry textures in 2010, I don't know what to think really.

- New level system, the one in ME2 is bad, because it is too limited...5 dkills? That's to little.
- Looting. It's an RPG so there should be more equipment (but not like in ME1 where there was to much)
- Vehicle...could be mako, but the terrain on the planets should be more flat. No more big mountains like in ME1. The best solution? Mako & hammerhead, but the choice depends on the type of mission. If there are mountains, then we should be playing in hammerhead, and if there are no mountains we should be able to play with mako.
- Normandy - it's good like in ME2 but we should be able to go inside every room, not after we recruit squadmates.
- Squadmates - I would want them to have interactions betwen them...something like ongoing Jacob/Miranda romance, if Shepard isn't romancing witha anyone of them. Seeing more scenes like Tali/Legion fight, and Miranda/Jack fight is also good, but some of them should be just random encounters, where shepard doesn't always have something to say.
- Sidequests - They were good but linear. It was like: Land, Go and kill enemies, find something, return...not much RPG, regardless of the story. Sidequests should be more unpredictable.
- More playing on players emotions. The missions when I was afraid, the overlord DLC...thanks to those I could feel what my Shepard would felt if the game was reality
- Tali unmasked - I want to see her, but then again I don't...because it could spoil the fun. Whatever the developers will decide, I know, that every girl in ME universe was beautifull . (Not including Liara and Benezia, because the other Asari were more cute and they didn't compare to them)
- More characters - No. We have a lot of them, and we don't need to add more. Normandy isn't a zoo, and I am afraid that in ME3 there will be Elcor, Volus, Hanar and Batarian on the normandy...hope not.
- Better levels. In ME1 we had explorable worlds. It was good, but they were empty...lifeless compounds etc. And the "dungeons" were identical. The same rooms in bases etc. In ME2 nothing was the same BUT... the levels were linear. We were exploring a lot of places, a lot of bases, the citadel...and they had only one route. It was going from start point to end point...boring. I would like to sometimes go inside one room, then find out I am unable to go inside the other one, because there was an explosion, an the door shut behind me...and in my next playthrough I could choose the other path.
- More mature content - I know it isn't a porn game with drugs, alcohol etc, but I think since THIS IS a game for older players, there should be more mature content, especialy on Omega. This place was to calm. No gunshots in the background, the shopekeepers to polite...every one was to polite, even the mercs.
- More conversations with squadates - We didn't have a chance to explore others on normandy. Just go around the ship and talk to everyone, then do a mission, and talk to everyone again. Then everyone just run out of topics. The worst part was with romances. Shepard is a RPG hero. All heroes should have their LI, but there should be more to it. Something like optional quest IF a character is Shepard LI.
- Upgrade system...it was good, but could be better. Gathering resources was a pain.
- More economy. We should be able to trade resources for credits, and credits for resources.
- Greater story. ME1 was great and epic...ME2 also, but there was something missing. Maybe it was this terminator-reaper. I didn't like it...It could look just like a normal reaper.
- Indoctrination. Why the hell shepard and his squadmates aren't affected? There should be a mission when shepard or his LI is indoctrinated.
- We should have more playthrought using Joker, and other squadmates. It was fun
That's all I think

New villians. Saren could have had a brother.
Would be cool to find out that Harbinger was a actually a rogue reaper acting alone with the collectors, trying to help the Human Race the only way he knew how, by creating a human reaper. Therefore by killing the human reaper Shepard has royally screwed everyone. The Illusive Man could have known this and is actually working for the reapers. Cool twist.
I'd love a solo mission. Shepard on his own would be awesome.
Zero-G missions like in Dead Space.
If your Shepard is male then your romantic partner from ME1 got pregnant and had your kid while you were being rebuilt. This would be an amazing twist to the story, Shepard no longer has just himself to think about. And if you didn't stay faithful to Liara or Ash in ME2 you'd have a lot of explaining to do.
Squadmates have the ability to come and go as they please. Especially if they keep the squadmates around from the suicide mission. Mission 's over. Maybe not everybody would want to stick around. ****** a squadmate off enough they'll ask to get dropped off at the next planet.
A Squadmate turns on you during a key mission. The squadmate would be decided by how you treat them and how often you take them out on missions. You wouldn't really feel apart of a team if your stuck on the ship twiddling your thumbs everyday.
If they end up using all the surviving squadmates from ME2 it could be neat if they immediately kill off your least used squadmate and your most used squadmate from ME2. Forcing you to play the New Game in a new way and a great twist to start off the game.
On key missions you have the ability to lose teammates for good if you don't make all the right decisions. Not just during the final mission. This makes each mission all the more interesting and important. No mission is a sure thing
Liara as squadmate
Jack grows out her hair.
More romance drama. Maybe a split decision Like they're on a different ship that gets shot down a by slavers and you have to save the romantic interest or chase down the slavers and save the prisoners that they got away with.
More acknowledging of the romance of Shep in dialogue and other missions. For example in Me2 you boink Jack and she dies 5 minutes later during the suicide mission and its like they didn't even spend the last 13 missions flirting with eachother. Just "oh well that sucks. moving on." If i chose a love interest in the game I want it to be a big point in the game. I mean being involved with someone would effect most of your decisions not just an afterthought. Especially when you're constantly in peril. You'd do anything to make sure signifigant other is safe.
Space dating and other leisurely activities
Hangout with crewmate on downtime.
My own heavy mech squadmate. EDI could control it.
Krogans, Quarians, Geth, The Council Asari commandos etc, all join your cause against the reapers.
Nudity. so what i'm a perv. get over it.
Toggle helmet on/off.
Armor Select in pause menu.
A mission where you go outside the ship during space travel and do some repairs.
Save/sacrifice missions. Like on Virmire in ME1.
whatchoo all think

Isn't your post above a COMPLETE repost? I'm just wondering why you reposted it, because I responded to two of your points already and I'm sure others did. Not criticizing you, I'm just wondering your reasoning behind the repost...

I wasn't very impressed with the cuztomization in either game. The faces always looked stupid for the male Shepard, so I always went with the default. Make me want to change up the face.Arrtis wrote...

I think it would be a better experience if you could customize your team's looks; while still keeping their same facial structure. Not only that, but being able to have control of what your team wears, like in Mass Effect 1, but be able to customize it, like in Mass Effect 2. Other than that I don't know how Bioware could make the game better. Every game has been amazing so far.

Peter Molyneux from Lionhead says stuff like "We did a terrible job at *blank* in *past game*." all the time. It's not a weakness to change things in your game to please your fans, even if they make what you did seem like a mistake. Only really thickheaded developers would think otherwise.matt-bassist wrote...

For me the ending of Mass Effect 1 was amazing. You have the great multiple ending options, you have the picture of YOUR Commander Shephard pictured for a few seconds, then the Normandy flies out into space...and we are saranaded by that awesome song. M4, Part II by the Faunts. It was powerful!
For me the Faunts are synonymous with Mass Effect. I don't know why they didn't get to put a song into the credits of Mass Effect 2. For me that would habe been flat out awesome! M4, Part III anybody?
PLEASE BIOWARE INVITE THE FAUNTS BACK TO PUT A SONG INTO MASS EFFECT 3. There is still plenty of time to have it done!!!!
Make the Faunts syonymous with Mass Effect as Martin O'Donnell is with Halo.

ME1 was a pioneer. ME2 was a step back from a pioneering game to a mediocre third person shooter with a nice story but poor RPG-elements - not many more than RTCW. If people want to play this kind of stuff, they may play Dead Space. It is a creepy idea having to finish a great saga as action game, having started it as an RPG. It would be like "Eat it or don't live the finale, RPG-fan"matt-bassist wrote...

I think there should be a thread for each topic...or maby not.
On the Normandy:
I stopped buying pets because they stayed in the captains quarters. I would like certain pets to maby walk around the other decks of the ship.
I would like more random talking from the crew.
I would like the squad members to sometimes come and talk to you instead of you going to them all the time.
Locations (Planets, ships and space stations):
Make some planets explorable like in ME1 (a huge map), but with more flora and fauna. Put the locations that have a direct influence on the main story on one disc and everything else (sidemissions and interesting places) on a second disc.
Populate the areas more and let us hear gunfire every now and then in places like Omega.
Weapons, armour and upgrades:
Somewhere between ME1 and ME2. I felt ME1 had too many and ME2 had too few.
Vehicle:
Havn't tried the Hammerhead yet, so I can't really comment on it. It seems people want to be able to upgrade the Hammerhead.
Recources:
I like the planet scanner. I hated walking around a planet to find minirals.
Just allow us to sell some of it.
Squad members:
Show them doing more than just sitting/standing in one place. Show them talking to eachother/crew mambers or playing cards or in the eating area. Though you can have only 2 squad members on a mission, make it seem like the others also went with on the mission. Maby have them distract the enemy or something.
Maps:
Make more than one rout through an area.
Other:
I want to see a volus and quarian without the suit on.
I want space battles.
Make the LI more prominant and make shepheard seem to care about LI.

Preferences:
-more use of the Hammerhead,it's the perfect vehicle-easy to use and fun to watch-
-NPC's should interact differently with Shepard depending on Paragon/Renegade status.
-more interaction with characters, squadmates and ,obviously, LI.
-our choices should impact our endings.
-full-scale war and epic battles.
-(possible spoiler) solo missions like in Overlord at the end
-keep the interface, inventory and gameplay like in ME2, RPG's aren't about messy inventories, they're about story!
TIP: Don't take word for word our opinions..sometimes not even we know what we desire. You're the best game-developing company, just add your "BioWare magic" and make the game unique!

All armor modular, if they really want people wearing all pieces just put a set bonus like in DAO.
Helmet toggle, take stats off the helms if you have to! Or move stats to eyewear and only force a helmet in certain environs.
More clear/transparent helmets so we can see the character's face.
I wouldn't mind the hammerhead so much if it wasn't a tinfoil covered cardboard box, it's a FLYING TANK for crying out loud, make it TANKY! It needs more durability, choice of weapons, need to be able to SAVE THE GAME while in it, and actually hover over water/lava. I hated the jump between sinking rock islands part of the missions.
Weapons, get rid of ammo powers, and make the weapons themselves completely modular, you can choose frame/handgrip/barrel/etc which changes how it looks as well as stats and functions (range/accuracy/ammo).
Weapon proficiencies: it never made sense to me that while apparently any class can use pistol/SMG you need training for a shotgun. HELLO, they're all over the place here in the US, hunting/home-defense/sport-shooting.
If all the Soldier has going for them is that you're artificially restricting weapon/ammo types then that's just poor design IMHO, and they need things like Miranda's leadership passive, stim-packs to boost pain resistance, or an 'aura of command'. A morale boosting battle-cry, or an enemy demoralizing taunt might work too.
Cutscenes that don't involve weapons popping out of inappropriate places.
Aim-able/curve-able team powers, I hate having the wall I'm taking cover behind getting overloaded by Miranda because while she can see the target, it's not 'perfectly' in my line of sight.
Tali un-masked just for curiousity.
Party banter at random places, and let the crew wander the ship occasionally. At least don't make them stand like a statue in the same place and move around their room.
A way to append a note/biography to a career that shows up on the load menu when you switch careers.
More Squad outfits (with more realistic vacuum rated armor), it would be nice if like Shep, the squad had casual clothes for the ship and Armor in the field.
