One other thought

Having to choose between saving two places under attack by reapers, and the other one is left to perish. Like choosing to save either Omega or the Citadel, or Earth or the Citadel. Some massive, game-changing choices like that.

I wish folks would TRY to be realistic. TRY. Just a bit. Not too much. Just T.R.Y.

I'd really want to see that in Mass Effect 3.

One thing that I wouldn't mind is if the quests that are available to you were more determined by your Paragon and Renegade points. An example of this would be on ME1, during the "Rita" quest or whatever (that undercover waitress at Chora's Den). I think that quests like those should only be available to people with high Paragon ratings, because honestly, Renegade Sheppard wouldn't give a darn about the dangerous position that the girl has put herself in, especially if some criminals are going down in the process.

There are a few things Id like to see in ME3 so Ill post them here.

First thing is that Id like to see is a better soundtrack. I loved the soundtrack of the first ME, because it was so spacey. Mass Effect 2 had a bit more theatrical soundtrack. Which is okay at some part, but still, its a bit common. I think the trance like space Sci Fi music from ME was just perfect for the game and suited the whole atmosphere better as well. Not to say it should just be exactly the same soundtrack but something like that would definitely be better imo.

Also, Id love to see the Mako back. Yeah it wasnt perfect like it was done in ME, but for me that was mainly because the planets where a bit boring. Just steep rocks and valleys. Less height difference on the maps and more things like vegetation or buildings or something like that. Because having a vehicle and being able to explore a map in a non linear way gave me a nice feeling of freedom and also added to the size of the whole galaxy. I missed that in ME2 where everything was a bit to linear from time to time.

Also, Id like to see more upgradeble stats and weapons back. In ME there was an overkill of guns and equipment as well as stats, but in ME2 I think there was simply not enough. Id like to see more of it back in ME3. So, instead of 30+ different assault rifles, get 10-15 assault rifles and not 4.

Also, Id really like to see the ability to crouch without having to be in cover back . As well as just the ability to walk instead of almost constantly jogging.

I strongly hope Bioware considers adding more of the RPG elements back into the game. My biggest complaint from ME2 is how little squad member dialog there is complared to Dragon Age. I would love to see squad mates talk to each other like they do in Dragon Age and to have deeper conversation trees.
Bring back armor, inventory(re-designed) and some more flexibility in weapon loadout and class builds.

I also actually prefer the individual ability cooldowns in ME1 to the shared in ME2. It gets very very boring after a while of spamming the same ability because it works better than anything else. Ex. does a vanguard do anything but charge on hard or insanity?

Also please fix biotic powers. Biotics where great fun in the first game. Now in ME2 everything has armor that makes half the powers useless for the majority of the fight. Armor should not stop a biotic throw unless your talking about something really heavy like a mech. On a regular soldier, it should just make him take less damage. I don't see how it keeps him rooted to the ground.

The RPG element.

Drops from what you kill and not just what's in a locker or a crate.

A random stat element to drops of weapons/armour/amps.

A coop mode, with perhaps the ability to trade weapons/armour/amps.

More squad members.

A gun battery to control on the Normandy SR2.5

Co op is a terrible idea...THey already have a heck of a task on their hands wrapping up the series let alone take time into figuring out how to make it so they can have a co op system...

Why do people want every single game out there to have multiplayer? Multiplayer=crappier game at the sake of "being able to play with something" every time....The Resident Evil series was RUINED by trying to implement a multiplayer...

Matter of fact if I hear ME3 has multiplayer..I just might hang it up right here...I am sick and tired of video games these days being ruined for the sake of having to focus on making an appealing multiplayer (most still suck anyways) at the expense of not spending time on the actual game...Very few games these days are single player...and what do ya know...all those games tend to be the ones with the best and most deep and satisfying campaigns...Multiplayer= less depth every SINGLE time.

Wishlist from an old RPGer ...

I'd like to see more customization of armor and weapons. I love where it's gone in ME2 and I hated the overload of items in ME1. I just want more: more abilities, patterns and colors to choose from for armor and more choice in the weapons. The Kestrel DLC is a great example - it's the first DLC armor that I actually use because you can add pieces into your customized look. It'd alos be great to get some feedback from the gear-up screen on what the armor, shields and damage values were that you've just put together. At the moment you're not really sure what outcome your custom set of bits has given you.

I'd like a little more variety in the biotics for your team mates. It always seems weird that Jack and Samara's cutscenes have more powers than you can access in the level up screens. How about major and minor powers? So only some can ever be developed fully developed? Meaning you don't get the choice to go beyong level 1 for some powers on some characters, while they have massive kick-ass ability in something else that your charcter can't get. It'd give your team mates more character.

The combat system in ME2 is addictive, really enjoy it. But some of the best things are really few and far between, like doing a biotic charge between levels of a building or from the ground to a bridge. I'd like more 3D feel to the combat levels, more chance to knock opponents off ledges. I'd like to be able to make use of the terrain.

And I really hate having enemies in positions you can't get to. If they're standing there shooting at me then I want to be able to stand there too, punching their lights out (favorite Vanguard tactic: charge-fire-punch-fire-punch- ...).

There have been a few posts about making the Citadel bigger and so on. I think what might help is giving the areas more ambience - so more grand vistas, wierd alien moons, the long precipice from an Illium tower, and enemies being thrown off them. Make the areas feel more open, even if there actually isn't more to walk/fight through. The way that the areas in Overloard play is a great example of how well this can work.

I'd like more plot links in side quests. Nothing critical, just references that make side quests feel like they are really part of the main quest or at least related. As an RPGer from many years ago (dice on the tabletop), it seems weird that when you're in a hurry to save the galaxy that you'd stop off to do something that is not even vaguely related. Don't get me wrong - most of the side quests are pretty cool to play, but relevant?

How about expanding the news and message feeds? Maybe more ambient conversations on the Normandy or in areas. Sometimes areas can feel a little lifeless when you're wandering about. Some of the news items in the Main Menu have that ominous tone that says "Something Big is Coming". How about pushing that into the Private Terminal.

Heres a thought...

the ability to "roll to the side" some fps have that ability...

bring back rpg, you know, buy and sell items...

online multiplayer/ co-op, for example, team deathmatch on omega or the citadel, or capture the

protean ruin...

to tell you the truth, i don't care if the game happens to be a 4 disc affair as long as everything we

love from the first 2 games are brought back...

Problem is RE was changed so it could have co-op, plus it was changed in many other ways too, while Mass effect has always supported teamplay. 2nd and 3rd player could control Shepards current followers. It could work nicely even in split screen

It would be a great feature, but I agree it would probably make the rest of the game worse and isn't worth it. ME3 has enough stuff to fix and add as it is. Maybe for a spin-off.

Three things:
1. Team: Hasn't been all that good in either game. More dialogue and random comments, make them smarter and able to revive me, make them able to control some parts of the vehicles like additional guns and navigation systems. If I have a tech expert in my team I can tell him or her to hack the terminal so I don't have to play the mini-game, just like I can tell a soldier or biotic to fight for me.
2. Choices: This game is all about them. The events of ME3 should change lightly and heavily based on all the decisions I can make in ME1 and 2. On top of that ME3 itself should allow more customization. We don't have just 10 people to fill our crew of 10, but we can choose who we want in our team. Time to only save 1 city and other drastic and conflicting choices.
3. Believability: Like already said teammates should be more believable. On top of that things like weapon clips, reduced inventory and skills and mini-games damage the immersion. I'm all for optional mineral probing or ship piloting, but as a Commander I should be able to ignore those tasks and tell other people to do them. The believable way to do things depends on where ME3 is set, but I'd guess adding more skills makes sense as Shepard was rebuilt in ME2. The galaxy should also have more weapons, some working with clips and some not. Oh and don't forget the elevators and other "loading rooms"

Resources trading and selling. We scan all of these planets and gather a bunch of resources. It would be nice to be able to sell them or trade for the resources that you need.

I felt the soundtrack was greatly improved since the first game. The action sequences gave off the feeling of me being inside a fast-paced high-end action movie and the epic orchestra during massive cut-scenes gave me goosebumps. The techno tones from the first game really didn't do as much for me.
Now, im not saying that the first soundtrack wasn't good for what the first game was, but i think we've gone beyond that now. The music changes as the games change.
In ME1 we didn't know about the Reaper threat in the beginning and thus a soft, spacey soundtrack suited the game just fine. In ME2 we are thrown right into the action, we know the stakes as well as what kind of scale we expect our adventure to play out on and it only feels natural to me that the music has changed atmosphere as well.

The Mako was fun at first... then it turned out to be rather dull, seeing as how you repeatedly went to planets solely to collect datapads and infiltrate the same smuggler base for the umpteenth time.
I might agree to have the Mako back in some way, but not at the cost of the story simply for the sake of exploring.

In regards to the weapons, I'd like to see some middle-ground between what they were in ME1 and ME2.
ME1 went WAY overkill with the status-changes. Every minor detail constantly needed to be tended and the stocks of old weapons or add-ons that simply needed to be discarded or sold was a pain in the ***!
But ME2 went the other way and drummed down the weaponry to a laughable amount. I loved them and what they did, sure, but i would like for there to be more of a variation.
I would also appreciate the ability to actually RELOAD on board the Normandy.... <_< sheeesh.. hey Bioware, there is a reason it's called an "Armory"..?

Walking was a good idea. That bugs me whenever Shepard is in a town and he runs :S ... come on... its not as if he is under attack. You in a hurry to the bathroom or something? ^^

Hit a nerve?

Having multiplayer doesn't instantly mean it has to be part of the main story line, it could just perhaps be a little skirmish or a few multiplayer only levels  with friends not affecting your single player play through, that way people like you can still play on your own. And people like me can enjoy an evening playing with my friends.

Unless you work for Bioware, and i'm guessing you don't, you have no idea what their task is, what their plans are, so don't give me that old tosh.

The single player experience doesn't have to  be compromised at all. Infact even if there's some kind of multiplayer/coop experience DLC that comes a long, that would be a massive bonus.

Now listen, this is my wish list. I'm still going to be more than content if they blow any multiplayer/coop idea out of the water.

Go calm down.

more of a request than a wish but, please dont bring back the mass effect 1 inventory menu and item customization, i mean yeah it was cool but it gets so annoying constantly swapping parts and ammo types out when you get new items, i like mass effect 2's customization and ammo abilities better, also please keep the guns the same as mass effect 2, i like having only a few different weapons than a ton of guns that are useless and look slightly different. just add in a variety of guns like 4 or 5 different kinds of guns under each category instead of 2 or 3. seriously i want a freaking revolver in this game already also it would be so badass and you added ammo in so it works now anyway.

Please allow blind fire. Sometimes I find myself in a situation where I'm close to death with an enemy bearing down on me and all my squad powers are on cooldown. In these kind of situation I could either:

Run away, which would lead to death since I am already on low health. or

Duck out and fire at the enemy and hope that I can kill him before I get shot by anyone.

Having a blindfire option would help in giving the player more flexibility on situations where they are pinned down with without powers at their disposal.

Oh also, please consider restocking the players supply of heavy weapons ammo at the beggining of each mission. I feel that if this is done then players could be persuaded to experiment with them more. I say this because I often found myself hoarding my heavy weapons ammo since I never knew when I would get more. Perhaps my proposal could be balanced by taking away ammo crates and also capping ammo at say 50% upgrade instead of 100%. Lastly, I just found it to be odd that the Normandy could manuafacture all sorts of weapons yet cannot recharge heavy weapons. Also, by using the "find ammo in crates" system, there will come a point in the game where no more heavy weapons ammo can be found. It just seems odd to me that a player would not be able to use heavy weapons anymore because the GALAXY ran out of crates for them to look through.

I think in ME3 it be cool if Humans adopted the face painting that many of the races do. It would add another level of customization to Shepard which is always good.

In my opinion both the Mako part with mineral gathering in Mass Effect 1 and the mineral scanning with probes in Mass Effect 2 was a good part of the game. I liked it most of the time. (Mineral scanning can be relatively fast, if one does not continuously hold down the mouse button - a simple trick most complainers didn't think about, I guess). Of course people who just want to shoot all the time don't like these, that's understandable. What I didn't like in Mass Effect 2 is the lack of inventory, restriction of armor/helmet customizing to certain places, and of course not having Liara on my team. I hope these will be fixed in part three. Oh, I think the thermal (I mean ammo) clips wasn't a good idea in the way it was implemented into Mass Effect 2. (By the way, there were some kind of weapon mods in Mass Effect 1, with which my characters were able to fire almost continuously at higher levels. So there was no real need to use thermal clips, just the proper weapon mods.) The best decision would be: implement both thermal clips (or heat sinks) and the overheat system. One can fire at will until one's thermal clips last, after that one's weapon start to overheat. I had to conserve ammo a lot of time in Mass Effect 2, because there wasn't enough clips on many levels. So I had to use biotic powers/melee attacks and my squad too much, even if I didn't want to, because I had no other choice. Oh, and I had to "scan" the floor most of the time on the levels to see if there is another thermal clip around. Those fights were not good. I would prefer to look at the enemy, their tactic, and not always worrying about my soon-to-deplete ammunition.

There are two things I would like to see in Mass Effect 3 which weren't in the previous games and I think these ideas fit perfectly into this universe:
1. 3D space combat simulation. At the end of Mass Effect 2 we can see a massive fleet - I think great space fight scenes could be achieved with a good simulation algorithm. (Not the one in KotOR 1.)
2. If we have to split our squad it would be a good idea to individually control both groups. (Like in KotOR 2.)

There is one minor feature which I saw only in two games so far (in the Freecell card game and in Dune 2) but it's a good idea in my opinion. It would look so cool if my character and squad members would follow the mouse pointer with their eyes on the squad screen.

Well, I am not reading this entire thread so I think I'll just post my ideas even if they have already been posted by probably more than 1 person considering the size of this thread..

1) One of the first things I want changed in ME3 is the color scheme, I hope BioWare realizes that Orange is not the most appealing color for Menus, Armor, Computers... I preferred ME1's Blue color scheme, it seemed more futuristic and sci-fi'ish.. They don't have to completely irradicate that color, but I would prefer it was used less.

2) Upgrading your armor, weapons, gear etc. needs to actually change how efficient your gear is. If I am stuck with 1-3 weapons in a weapon class, I would like to be able to upgrade certain parts on the weapon and see a difference in efficiency unlike ME2. I also want different ammo types back.

3) It'd be so cool if your team mates actually talked to each other during missions, or see them hanging out on the ship. This would add so much depth and immersion to the game, and it would make you feel a sense of comradery.

4) Less loading screens and no more mission complete screen. It is a huge immersion breaker and makes the open world feel, well... Not feel so open world.

5) Leading from suggestion 4, More open world style missions, Linear missions get boring after a while. There is no sense of discovery.

6) Loot is something I greatly missed in ME2. Bring it back in some form as well as an inventory system. Pull a gearbox and make it so we can find like 800,000 different weapons.

7) Economy in Mass Effect 1 had the right idea, ME2 screwed it up, and now ME3 has to take ME1's economic system and improve it.

8) Stat upgrading. I loved the huge amount of stats you could upgrade in ME1. Bring that back but enhance it with ME2's system. I like how once you fully upgrade a specific power, you can choose 1 or 2 different branches.

WHAT IM REALLY ASKING IS, PLEASE BRING BACK THE RPG ELEMENTS!!!

Alright a few things.
I know Mass Effect 1 had a blue color scheme because you are with the alliance and Mass Effect 2 had reddish because of your involvement with Cerberus so maybe in ME3 it should be purple like a reaper.

No space combat please. But... A scene were you fight on the hull of a massive ship (maybe a reaper) as it is in combat with other massive ships so there are huge ships flying above your head and getting destroyed would be really cool.

No loading screens. Go back to the Mass Effect 1 style of loading but use less elevators. Im sure there are other things other than elevators that could happen while something loads. The seamless transition from area to area makes the game feel so much larger. Say you are finished a mission and you get in the Kodiak. Commander Shepard sits down and you can talk to your crew about the mission and out the window you see a low resolution and low polygon environment as you take off above the clouds or just artwork and then as this happens it loads the Normandy and you end up in the cargo bay.

Remove the mission after report. Instead of that you can make it so Commander Shepard can go to his or her cabin and look at it on the computer.

Bring back infinite ammo but keep the thermal clip reloading. Also allow passive cool down so after a battle you don't only have one shot left before it automatically overheats.

SOME SORT OF PASSIVE MINING. Allow the commander to launch a probe on a planet, leave, comeback after a mission or two, collect the resources from the probe, profit.

I liked pretty much all of the changes from ME1 to ME2. I'm kind of surprised so many people want the inventory system back, to me it felt like a huge waste of time. I wouldn't mind the MAKO back, but I would prefer the hovercraft tank they introduced in the DLC (Hammerhead I think? Not sure what the tank is called)

I'd like a little more variety in the minigames. I liked the memory game and the searching for code, I wouldn't mind seeing them back, but maybe throw in a few more or even bring back the frogger minigame from ME1.

Most of all I would like to see the Hanar world explored and the Elcor world! Please show us the Elcor world, they're my favourite race, they're hilarious! I love that advertisement for Elcor's performing Shakespeare. I liked the introduction of Batarians as well, but we didn't learn much about them, and we need to see the Volus world! I guess what I'm getting at is that I'd like to see the world of every race. And hopefully we can see something really different and unique rather than an analogue to human society.

I hated yet loved the upgrade system in Me1. The cluttered organization, and having 50,000 of the same upgrade deserved all the hate it got. The entire weapons upgrade should be like in ME2, but we should be able to upgrade parts like in ME1. (at least bring back the chemical rounds. Those bring happy memories...)

Joker as a main romance. Not like Kelly's. I know the writers can make something funny yet meaningful.

Better romance scenes, not cookie cuttered or bland. And at least let us talk to them afterwards about it, not just a one-liner were you don't get to respond. Screw Fox News.

More conversations. Or at least for Joker and Garrus, and if you still must have the turian alledgedly "calibrating weapons" at least give us the renegade interupt of punching him across the face. Or smashing the console, whatever. Or let us sneak up behind him to discover he's been watching porn or is on level 247 on tetris.

Let us hunt down the Illusive Man and kill him. The Overlord makes me want to pull out his spine through his freaky eyes. (btw, what is up with the eyes, and why do they remind me of Saren's?)

Please, for the love of Mary, reopen the citidel. And open up more places to explore. Even on missions. And get rid of the horrible planet scanning mini-game.

Totally get the Normady to fight more often. if some people want a vehicle in the game, let us have control of her in a dogfight. might be a little weird to have a noob make Joker look like the worst pilot in the galaxy, but the noob is also playing as the greatest warrior i the galaxy. Just don't give us horrible controls. Oh, and if we want to, we can skip over fighting ourselves, and let the computerized Joker do the fighting in a cutscene.

Loading screens are awful. At least in an elevator, you could spin the camera around and listen to news and your crewmates bickering. if I had my choice of painfully slow elevators and loading screens, I'll pick elevators. But don't make them longer than absolutely nessecary, even if you have to have the crewmates be cut off or continue the conversation outside the elevator...

I love my team. Please tell me we're keeping all (at least the ones we saved) of them.

If the Council is about to die by the Reapers, the renegade option must be imitating the turian member, failed air quotes and all. "Ah, yes, Reapers."

Unmask Tali. Don't make her look like an elf.
