about tactical combat:

- squadmembers, crossfire, positioning all should matter more (at least on harder difficulty)
- hand grenades! i missed having something like this in many situations.
- smarter AI in general. squadmembers and enemies should take cover and stay there if they are in danger.
- no more "teleporting" squadmembers during combat.

Absolutely! I can't count the number of times I have used my last Unity, only to watch my squadmembers get taken out again, as they stick their necks out just seconds before that missile hits!! :pinched:

This could be either a great idea or a major fail. Three Player Co-op. Game play wise I see it working perfectly. I'm not sure how it would work with the story though. Maybe there could be some separate missions designed for co-op. I don't see competitive multilayer working though.

It also be nice if we could keep our upgrades on our second play through. Felt like a waste upgrading all our weapons only to have them reset.

I like a lot of the ideas here.
In my opinion, Bioware made an incredible improvement over the first game with ME2 and shouldn't take any steps backward. What I'd most like is a bit more depth to some of the romanceable characters. Jacob and Miranda felt a bit flat to me (aside from physical aspects) and I'd love to be able to love Samara. The gameplay could be improved in boss fights to add more strategy to them rather than shoot shoot shoot. Though I hated the game, Metal Gear Solid 4 effectively used Quicktime events and played around with controls to make boss fights dramatic.

Hey, would like to quickly thank Bioware for doing a great job on Mass Effect 2. I think the critics are right in saying that it is far more exciting and involving that its predecessor, although I am still a big fan of ME1!

I was playing ME2 today and realised that I scarcely use my "big guns". I'm a little scared to try them out in the heat of battle, especially because if I cocked up and they proved to be ineffective, I would get shot to hell and have to reload my game (a nuisance) or use a medkit (a nuisance, especially as there seems to be no way to get more of them on the normandy like there was in ME1(although personally I do not believe there should be an easy way like that)).

I started thinking about how great it would be to have a VR training room on the normandy, where you can set your opponents and their skill, what armour and weapons they have and what your own squad has, and just practice tactics and using your new weapons against them. Hopefully, you'll already have thought of something like this and will be on the way to making it come true for ME3 but if not I think it would a really fun and useful feature.

Oh and I have not finished ME2 yet so nobody take the ****** if this turns out to be already in the game. I am not Nostradamus.

Thanks guys

What I love most about this series is how each game is so unique. me1 was a heavy loot based game that was pretty good for the time. me2 definetly was more of a shooter that wasn't too shootery. The game still had a distinct RPG feel. Concerning the lack of weapons, it makes sense when you think about it. In reality there are no guns that are arbitrarily better than each other. In me1 the guns just felt like an improved version of the other, no truely unique guns. You dont walk into a gunstore and ask for the best gun, because the owner would think you were crazy. That is the same for me2. Take the shotguns for instance, the scimitar has good DPS but the claymore does the most damage, the game leaves it up to the player to decide which is best. In me1 i ended up using the same gun for every mission, whereas in me2 i think about what type of gun i want to use based off of what type of enemy i think i am going to fight. That is not to say that i think the way you get weapons is good, i found it wierd that some weapons were just sitting around, make special side-quests that are challenging, but accesible from early on that reward you for doing something tough. I am thinking something like the hideouts from red dead redemption, that would reward you with the collector-ship weapons or something. I wont mention much about the story direction because bioware knows a lot more than this one about story. I think it will be about building a massive army similar to the way you gain loyalties, but on a much LARGER scale. I want the first mission to be going back to the council and showing those dumbasses some proof about the reapers, especially the turian who say "yes reapers" I know Im not the only one who hates that guy. It looks pretty clear that me3 will have multiplayer, so i want it to be amazing, nay the best thing ever. ranks like bad company2. Different classes that are skilled in there own way, turians are straight soldiers, quarians and salarians are mechanical tech and scientific tech respectively, asari are naturally biotics, and humans could be a jack-of-all-trades or something. A level editor would be amazing. Maybe even throw in some events from throughout the story and before, you all know what i mean. I'm feeling too lazy to write any more, so I'll just say that I have faith that Bioware will make the best game ever, they have never let me down before.

I would love to see..

1. Characters walking down stairs properly, not just walking on air!

2. Some sort of 'figitive' subplot - Shepard and Normandy pursued by Cerberus/Alliance/Council/Shadow Broker/(insert fave enemy here)

3. Geth reunification & resolution to the Quarian's return to thier homeworld

4. humanitys last stand - on planet earth - Shepard & Geth to the rescue?

I just wanted to say thanks! This topic has turned into a huge thread, and every one of you have some really good ideas for the third Mass Effect. I really hope that Bioware will take keen attention to this topic and really help make this game shine. Remember, this isn't about judging what other people want! It's just a wishlist!

Mass effect is hands down the very best game I've ever played. I enjoyed the trilogy so far and look forward to the next more than ever. I'm creating this topic as a goal for the community to reach out to Bioware to make mass effect 3 the very best it could ever be. ME2 Seemed to suffer a little bit in areas that ME1 thrived in. These are a few things that I personally would love to see in mass effect 3. Although I'm well aware we all would like different things, it'd be great to have a few things back from ME1. Things that really made it shine, and possibly some new elements in the mix as well. I feel as if ME2 has gone too far into the FPS-Action only, and will probably have hardly any RPG aspect in ME3. If we don't correct it soon, it'll be too late. With that said, here's some things that I would love to see in ME3 to really give us that RPG feel.

Give us levels that make us feel like we've accomplished something! (VERY IMPORTANT!)

What's the point in leveling up a character when you don't unlock
something for getting there, or have a harder time fighting something as
you level up. Let me give you an example. This game levels you up very
well but you have no challenges. Enemies seem to stay at an incredibly
balanced difficulty throughout the game. It'd be nice to have enemies
outside of your level that are too difficult to kill, or much harder.
Another thing would be level requirements for certain ship upgrades,
guns, ammo, armor, etc. Give us the illusion that the higher the level
we are, the stronger we are! IMHO there was no
sense of this in ME2, and half the upgrades we got we never noticed.

Bring back the Inventory (upgradeable sizing)

Theres always a good feeling knowing what's in your backpack. RPG gamers love looting! It's always exciting to pick up something that may, or may not be better than what you currently own. Another aspect of that great RPG feel could be to upgrade our bag size. Looting objects and selling them at different markets would be great. For instance selling something at OMEGA could be more valuable than at the Citadel.

Upgradeable weapons/armor (The NEW fasioned way)

I don't really like the new weapon upgrades as much as the first ME. I think that for ME3 something completely different would be great for everybody who enjoys this game. Give us content! Perhaps a new sniper rifle barrel, or a different scope/zoom distance. Magazine size/Ammo size. ETC. Something that really can make our weapons UNIQUE! Everyone can have the highest upgrade, but with this method of customization there's many more ways to enjoy killing the reapers!

Where did the vehicle go!? Please. . . Give it back!!

I loved the driving aspect of the game. It really gave you a sense of how large the game was. It mad me feel cramped having to walk around everywhere. I'm not exactly sure why, but for some reason whenever I got into the vehicle the game just felt that much bigger to me. I loved it. It may not have driven the best, but it sure was a great part to the game. I heard of talk about them creating a vehicle, but I've completed the game, and explored every planet with no success of driving one, nor did I see a place where one could be used.

Please, Make the citadel larger.

This one is crucial to me, but I'm not sure how this strikes other gamers. I really enjoyed the citadel in ME1, not soo much in ME2 though. It seemed a lot smaller and the fact that it was just a bunch of levels on top of each other wasn't much for me. I really enjoyed being in the Citadel in ME1 and loved to explore the life in it. The Citadel in ME2 seems lifeless, just a bunch of shops and levels. I guess it's hit or miss on this one with the community, but I though I'd point it out.

While doing missions, make them less linear.

Hard to get lost during a mission, it always felt like a hallway leading with doors to the objective. DON'T get me wrong, I don't feel as if the game is linear, but 80% of the mission are. There's usually only one way to go, one way to complete it, and one way in/out. Open it up! we want to explore!

Keep the Normandy just as exploreable/vehicle

Another big one for me. I think it'd be great to have the normandy land on a planet, walk down to the cargo hold, get into a vehicle, and drive it out onto the unexplored planet. Something tiny, but it's this attention to detail that really makes a game shine!

More Normandy fights!

In ME2 we don't really use the upgrades for anything at all. We spend thousands and thousands on mats upgrading our ship. . . and for what? A quick dodge at the end of the game? I wanted to really see how the upgrades worked, all I seen was it go through some debree. Some dogfighting would be great.

Give us Earth! If ME3 really is the end of the trilogy (better not be!) than at least let us explore our homeplanet. Have the reapers invade it or something. I duno, just bring earth into the picture. I want to see it in the future.

Keep this as the best game I've ever played, just put some more RPG elements into it!

I hope this can be stickied, and we can all come together as a community to make Mass Effect 3 the best game to ever be released. . . . Until ME4-100 of course. :)

All this and the ending music from ME1.

I want more customization for each character, stats of weapons, helmets removable or how in dragon age it is gone in dialogue, no dlc item buying with cash/points..., epic dlc for ME2 and ME3 that is comparable to GTA4 DLC in size and story, a bigger influence on the final outcome that will shape the universe by your actions, no co-op, harder achievements, and more ports of the original games.

More depth and detail on the story, love, and friendship plots. Oh and no glitchs...
I do not think I am asking for muchPosted Image

But I think I would really like to see relationships to be developed, especially into the gay area,

look, I'm no homophobic, but I rarely see Shepard as a guy man. Even a man at all, I like playing as a women. And if you played as a women, it is perfectly fine to date other women from other species. I haven't tried with any relationship with any human women in the game, but you have to respect that Bioware does allow to ability to be gay. I doubt that Zane, a mercenary thug badass is going to be gay at your will. Even though he might be, and Shepard is quite influential.

Just Kaiden would be fine, apparently the dialogue was IN ME1 just blocked in the final build, it is accessible on a PC but not an Xbox. UNlock it in ME3, NO femLI in ME1, save Kaiden on VIrmire (kill Ashley), stay true in ME2 (no affair with ANYONE). Kaiden learns that you blew up the Collector base (Reaper factory) to keep it from TIM. Kaiden realizes that he was WRONG on Horizion ... and that you are NOT a tratior. Kaiden returns as a SquadMATE in ME3. I played ME1 as a femShep JUST to romance Kaiden (and see how it played out in ME2), BEST dialgoue (longest too), best love scene; got a HUG and an e-mail in ME2.

 Okay well seeing as how this thread is now almost 200 pages long (WOW) I didn't read everything, so please excuse me if someone has already mentioned these.
Okay, what I want from Mass Effect 3:

MORE GUNZZZZ
I really liked Mass Effect 2's simpler inventory system. I know some of the more loot-oriented players liked the old system but I thought this was a lot more effective, and it made every weapon feel a bit more unique anyways. (Mass effect 1 all the guns were pretty much the same aside from their stats...you know its true). Anyways, so I like the new system, and I don't think it should change all that much, but I think it was a bit too limited. Rather than the two/three guns they had for each weapon type, I think we should be able to get four/five. Just expand the weapons list a little you know? Give us more cool ways to blow the s*** out of our enemies with.

WEAPON CUSTOMIZATION
Yes, Mass Effect 2 had a better system for upgrading weapons then in Mass Effect 1. (In my opinion) However, unlike in Mass Effect 1, aside from statistical differences, the weapon didn't really feel any different. I personally, would very much enjoy it if Mass Effect 3 kept the same upgrade system as Mass Effect 2, but, like my guns idea, was more expanded upon. So you'd have the basic, more damage, increased rate of fire, better accuracy etc. upgrades, but you'd get some more unique things too. Scopes, attachments, maybe even like camos. So its like every weapon you get is unique, and then you make it even more unique on your own. (Kinda like Army of Two's upgrade system)

Toggle Helmet
Its not really that important, but I'd really like to see the return of the toggle helmet option. I loved a lot of the armor designs in Mass Effect 2, but I didn't ever use them because, quite frankly, I don't find enjoyment in playing a faceless, robotic character. I spent all the time making him/her, I wanna be able to see their face when I play. And then sometimes, I wanna go on the battlefield looking like a total bad*** soldier with deathly headgear. Mass Effect 2 took away that option, and I had to choose between playing the human side of my character, or the faceless soldier. It wasn't a very easy choice for me. (then again, i'm a heavy RP-er) Anyways, just saying, I'd like the toggle helmet option back.

MORE ARMOR
Pretty much the same deal with the guns. I liked the system in Mass Effect 2 for armor, I just didn't think there was enough variety. I'd like to either see more armor options, or more armor upgrades. (I never really wore armor for the stats, I wore it for how cool it looked lol)

KEEP THE HAMMERHEAD
Or whatever that hover tank thing was called. It was fun. Much better than the Mako, which, as repetitive and plane as it was, I missed in the second game. I think the Hammerhead is like the perfected version of the Mako, and I think it would be a shame not to include it more in the third installment.

CAPTIONS ON RENEGADE/PARAGON ACTIONS
Another minor thing. I really liked the paragon/renegade actions in Mass Effect 2, it added a sort of flare to the dialog. However, I really never had a clue what clicking LT or RT would do (or whatever buttons PC and PS users use). Sometimes I'd ending up doing something I didn't want to. So, since not everybody is devoted to playing a pure renegade or pure paragon player, and a lot of people actually just wanna play out their own choices, I think it would be a very good idea to put (short) captions for what they do. Like shoot, or punch, or save etc. rather than blindly pressing a button, having no clue what it will do (even if half the time its pretty cool :D)
HARDER CHOICES
Mass Effect has tons of choices, really it does, and I love it. However, most of them are relatively easy to make, you don't sit there thinking over the possible consequences. I think it would be good to have some heavier choices to make, akin to the save the rachni/drive them to extinction one in Mass Effect 1. It adds more diversity to the gameplay, puts a bit more shade over what's morally right and what's neccessary (a great plot element by the way) and just makes the story more fun to play along. Ideas for such a thing could be like...take sides with Cerberus (they're kinda evil, but they get things done) or the Alliance (they're the good guys, but they lack guts) or side with the Geth (who are plane out cool, and weren't exactly unjustified in their actions) or the Quarians (who really got screwed and kinda need your help to survive) or maybe even have it so that when the Reapers come, you have to choose which races to save, and which races to leave to die. :devil: (that would actually be pretty freaking dramatic, I'd love it at least)

HOME PLANETS
I guess its because Mass Effect did such a good job at creating this immersive, unique universe with tons of amazing, creative life, but I was a bit disappointed when I didn't get to visit the home planets of any of the species. I just think it'd be really cool to pay a visit to the Asari home, or the Salarians, we already got this with the Krogan (which was awesome...they're my favorite species) so why not keep it up? It would even make sense given the story, Reapers are coming, Shepard needs to gather the races to fend them off.

EARTH
Probably the biggest hope I have for Mass Effect is the setting of Earth. It would be dramatic, a Reaper invasion would be emotional, stirring, plain out awesome. And I'm interested in knowing what the place I'm from looks like in the future. I think it's a no-brainer that Earth needs to be included, especially if this is the last in the series.

HARDER ENEMIES
I know there's difficulty levels for this, but thats not what I mean. Because I'm not saying the AI isn't hard enough, or that I want the common enemy to be stronger. What I'm asking for is that if we're so far advanced in the future, you'd think there'd be some pretty scary weapons out there. I'd like to face them every once in a while. Like that one battle on the Tali recruitment mission where you have to face off against a tank (what's it called? An armature? Something like that) it was a dramatic battle, made it feel like you were on the battlefield, a soldier taking on impossible odds. I loved it. I'd like to see more stuff like that. Maybe have things where you have to face off against vehicles on foot or more battles like the one with the thresher maw, ones where your actually outgunned and have to think in order to survive.

REAPERS
I know the story's probably already written, but if its not, I'm begging you bioware, PLEASE don't make them lame. In the first game they were this enigmatic, dreadful race that we had very little understanding of. Kind of the unimaginable threat, they were almost metaphysical in nature. The idea that they had advanced so far that they exceeded our comprehension was good, it made them not only threatening, but cool, interesting. I kind of want to keep it that way, if not, at least come up with a really unique story as to why they're doing what they do and how they came to be. If I get something like "reapers are jealous of organic life" or "reapers are afraid of organic life becoming more powerful then them" or "reapers use us as fuel/building material" or anything else cliche like that) I, as well as probably a lot of other people, are going to be very dissapointed. I'd say either keep it a mystery and skim along its edges, or, as I know bioware is capable of, create a UNIQUE and INTERESTING story to it (maybe the reapers even turn out to be the good guys. And we're just a pestilence on the order of the universe). Make it cool, unique, twisted, If I can predict it, it's not good. That's my rule of thumbs for stories.

Well, that's all I can really think of right now. :pinched:

(I apologize in advance for my poor english. As I said many times, it isn't my mother tongue.)

This thread has become huge, and I don't know if some guys at Bioware will ever read the first ten posts, but I have a simple wishlist for ME3 (I think I covered some other people's wishes, but I have no time to read a thousand posts or so).

1. What I'd keep from ME1:
- The interface: more practical than that one in ME2, relaxing blue, with keyboard shortcuts for journal, codex, inventory etc., and it allows far more than 50 saves;
- The scoring system, where those bars increase one point at a time;
- The traveling system in the galaxy, with no worries about running out of fuel;
- The weapons that need only to cool down to start shooting again;
- Weapons, armor and mods that can be purchased or found here and there, and can be sold or transformed in something else;
- The ability to switch weapons and armor at any moment, not only in some places like the Normandy;
- Liara: she really has to settle the matter with the Shadow Broker and join again Shepard's squad. (Well, I have nothing against Samara, but she's too cold; Liara is nice and friendly);
- All the Presidium at the Citadel - in ME2 we can only see Anderson's office;

2. What I'd keep from ME2:
- The new Normandy: I don't want to see it destroyed at the beginning of ME3;
- Planetary environment: too many planets in ME1 look as they were made of Lego bricks; in ME2 the environment is more accurate;
- The Hammerhead, but with the chance to save the game during a travel;
- Some squad members: Tali and Garrus (who came from ME1), Miranda, Kasumi, Mordin, Grunt. Well, this is my personal opinion about these people;

3. What I'd wish to see:
- Shepard can explore the WHOLE galaxy, not only an half as in the first two chapters;
- A quarian without his/her helmet: genetic therapy, nanotec or other treatment can give a quarian a new immune system;
- Female turian;
- Female salarian;
- Female batarian;
- Female drell;
- A guided tour to a krogan female camp on Tuchanka: Shepard deserves this;
- Children and elder people of any species;
- Ugly people of any species: many people can't afford genetic therapy or cosmetic surgery, and many people don't want to; someone can be a victim of an accident, a battle, a failed assassination attempt (well, something worse than Garrus' scars);
- Volus without their suits: a human with his/her armor can visit a volus world and meet its inhabitants as they are (and Shepard visited worlds that are worse than a volus world in his/her travels);
- Some mass transmitter which leads to another galaxy (oh, yes: why have we to be forced to remain in one single galaxy?)
- More tactics while in combat; the squad may be composed of four elements and use complex tactics (as in Dragon Age: Origins); the squad may be led by anyone, not only by Shepard;
- If Shepard saved the hostages on asteroid X57 and let the batarian terrorist go, he/she has to settle the matter with this   a s s h o l e;
- Shepard may want to change his/her hairstyle, make-up (if female) or beard and moustache (if male) during the game; he/she should have more clothes in his/her wardrobe.

i think that they should include the armour from mass effect 1 for allies whilst stil having the customisation from mass effect 2, weapons should be of a bigger variety and therer should be more things to buy. mass effect 1 has a massive amount of armour or weapons and even upgrades for the weopons and armour. now all i have to do in ME2 is research! thats boring!! an RPG should have lots of buying and shops involved!!!

Yeah, that was a joke. It was specifically in their not-funny parody section. The same section also says that Bioshock 3 will have Big Grandpas in addition to Big Daddies and Big Sisters, and Nintendo's next console is a fusion of the Wii and the DS.

Agreed.
Last game I had Garrus just stand there shooting at a wall, and Tali and Kasumi stood on top of an exposed position during the final boss.

-Kevin and Gabby should get together and have a relationship.

-Space Hamster should be a squad-member.

-Joker should marry Kelly Chambers.

-Mordin should host a Normandy karaoke party for all the crew.

-More easter eggs.

-Less retarded AI.

-Longer DLC (Also for Mass Effect 2).

-More pleasure mini-games like Red Dead Redemption has such as pool and poker.

Squad member possibilities from all known races (except Vorcha, just doesnt seem to fit). So that would mean possibilities for Volus, Batarian, Elcor and Hanar.

- Volus could be tech and biotic based. They dont seem they would make good soldiers, but they do join the turians in military campaigns as auxiliary troops, so they have to have some abilities.

- Batarians we have already seen in combat, tech and soldier

- Elcor, soldier, shoulder mounted weaponry, maybe ability to have heavy weapons

- Hanar, pure biotic, no weapons usage at all (cant lift anything). Maybe have some sort of special Hanar-only biotic ability that can act as gun, OR just have amazingly fast recharge times for their biotic abilities to make up for lack of weaponry (just imagine in battle "I strike this one down in the name of the Enkindlers")

Possibility to choose from all previous team members, plus new members, with a few restrictions:

- Cant pick dead members (of course)

- Actions that could have PO'd them in ME1 and ME2 may make them not available

- ME2's not being loyal may make them not available

- A cap on number of squad mates you can choose. So lets say you can have a total of 20 available choices, you can only choose 10 to occupy the Normandy and be available for the game.

Customizable armor for everyone. Maybe not as many options as for Shep, but at least maybe 3 helmets/torsos/legs/arms choices for the squads. Oh, and more patters for the armor, and equal color options for all parts. One stripe - two stripe- camo gets very dull after awhile

More weapons in general. Loved the heavy weapons, but would liked to of had more than just 2 or 3 of the other types.

More alternative missions. Timed, Specialist, One person, Two Person, etc.

More Council worlds. We have seen the Traverse and the Terminus, lets see where the good guys live. Not necessarily a homeworld, would be fine if done the same way Illium was done. Not a homeworld, but very much so an Asari planet. Specific worlds Id like would be an Elcor and a Hanar world.

Visiting the Geth/Quarian homeworld.

Finding the Prothean homeworld.

New races. I saw in the Cerberus News that an avian race was just made contact with, so Id like to see them, and maybe a few other Citadel races we havent heard of yet.

Based upon trends in the United States Military, and most military ideals around the world, I believe that any future combat vehicle systems (FCVS) will be modular in design, thus making them able to adapt to changing situations. Therefore, it would be a rather simple toss of the imagination to believe that in the semi-far future (2183 ish) that modular assault vehicles would be the primary IFV types.

Therefore, I humbly request that the M-44 'Hammerhead' Infantry Fighting Vehicle Prototype, when it enters full productions in Mass Effect 3, be re-designated The M44B 'Hammerhead' Modular Infantry Fighting Vehicle, with the option to change the loadouts to either suit the mission style ('Recommended' Load-outs, Saved Loadouts, etc), or personal preference (For instance, for those who thought the only problem with the Mako was the maneuverability (like me), and thus think it is sad that the Hammerhead, apparently so technologically better, relies on Fire and Forget Missile systems only, with no backup armament).

In addition, When the Hammerhead hits full production, I humbly ask that the shield generators present in the original Mako and Hammerhead design be installed, allowing at least 50% more survivability for this vehicle. While, according to lore, the shield unit was removed in favor of the Combat Repair Sub-System, this has reduced survivability by 50 to 75% in combat scenarios, with the Hammerhead being shredded by Geth Infantry Weapons.

The vehicle itself is not flawed or a failure. The way it was implemented into the game merely raises a few eyebrows. If this is a Cerberus designed vehicle, then it would, more than likely, have the bleeding-edge technology apparent in most Cerberus vehicles, weapons systems, and bases. Furthermore, since it was designed by humans, and with how much we humans love making things modular, it should and would have optional load-outs, with a few presets, which I will drop ideas for here:

'Light Recon, Anti-Infantry' - Dual Mounted 50 Caliber 'Minigun'
'Light Assault, Anti-Vehicle' - Guided Missile System (Current), Co-axially Mounted 50 Caliber 'Minigun'
'Light Assault, Anti-Air' - Same As Above
'Heavy Assault, Anti-Vehicle' - 200mm Co-Axially mounted Mass Accelerator Cannon, Co-Axially Mounted 50 Caliber 'Minigun'

Thus, with these basic Ideas, I present to Bioware, the Mass Effect Community, and all, as a whole, for consideration.
