I am really doubting we'll see hanar, elcor, or volus as squaddies. All three are just too slow for various reasons. Batarians, maybe. I think we'll see female S/K/Ts as NPCs at most.
They dont move that slow.
An Elcor on the Presidium had quite a pace to him.

The main thing that worries me is that the two main directions they could take would result in either dropping some of my favorite characters, or their development being diluted. Option 1 is to narrow the squadmates down to a special few, going extremely in-depth and developing on them alone. That's great, but it would probably mean that someone epic would get left out. Option 2 is to include as many squadmates from ME1 and ME2 as are available, trying to please as many people as possible; this guarantees that the best characters will be present, but it also means that they will probably have shorter conversations, less interaction, and so on. Unless the development team takes Mass Effect 3 to an entirely higher level, it'll probably be one of those options.
The main characters I'd highlight are Garrus, Tali, and Legion. By now they feel so completely integral to my experience of the game that it just wouldn't feel the same if any of the three were left out.

Heck, maybe not just interrupts, but branching ways to solve problems in levels in game mode (instead of convo mode).

Ever since I was a kid I have been obsessed with video games, star trek, and star wars. Mass Effect, unlike any other piece of science fiction, combines the best parts of each. Between the combat, the varied locations, and the characters you meet Mass Effect is a one-of-a-kind experience. However, there are a few things I'd love to see in the third game to close off sheppard's story in the proper fashion.
1) more planet exploration: made me feel like captain Kirk, despite some of the repetition in the fighting.
2) varied weapons: while adding weapons in dlc has been welcome, it would be great if each weapon felt different. While full customization like in call of duty would be nice, even minor variation would be an improvement.
3) side mission relevance: the loyalty missions were great, but many of the silly side quests slowed down the story and took away from the importance of the main story
Anyway, thanks for reading. A year and a half to wait for the third seems like an eternity

Basically, the biotic uses mass effect fields to make their fists heavier, and also erects biotic barriers around the fists to reduce self-injury from inflicting blows. Increases melee damage for a limited time, to absurdly damaging levels if loaded full on talent points; allowing you to either pull off 'did you just punch out a whole squad of heavily armed mercs without breaking a sweat' with the extended duration evolution, to 'did you just KO a krogan in one punch' with the increased power evolution.
Especially useful for Vanguards.

What I find hilarious about the elevators is that everyone complained about them at the time, and now that bioware got rid of them people complain about that.
Any change from prequel to sequel will always result in unprecedented amounts of complaining from unexpected parties.
Somehow, there's always someone.

Your shipmates were always doing nothing while you were out on a mission, which is rather unfortunate for them. Getting recruited and then doing nothing the whole time is kind of pointless. So rather than let them do nothing, let there be a beta team. This team provides support in missions, what kind of support is completely dependent on the mission. E.g. sniper support, who has a view over the area (or a part of it) you go through, and helps you take out enemies ; an extraction team, which helps you get out after you accomplish the mission ; an infiltration team, which opens doors for you (like the tech expert on the collector base).
It would be great to have a feature like that, though I realize the chance is small that it'll happen.

also, can Shepard learn some basic Judo? Like how to take down and/or disable an opponent in one or more various ways by flipping them on their heads or ass? nothing too fancy please.
@MadCat221
I'm loving the gauntlet-biotic powerup for melee damage idea. there isn't much focus on attacking opponents head-on, especially with melee. and having intricate ties with CoD:MW2 and knifing, i am all-too-comfortable with getting in an opponent's face and ripping it right off.
and also this. I drew up some designs on what a female turian would look like, for one species. it's hard to imagine a feminine krogan or batarian however.Simpfan wrote...
Ive already expressed my desire for team mates, but Ive been thinking it over a bit more.
I think that they should give us a long roster of characters who we can recruit for our team, but we shouldnt be able to recruit all of them. Set a limit, so if we have 20 characters to pick from, we can only choose 10.
Also I think past actions, such as if you gained their loyalty in ME2, should matter on if they can be convinced to join you. For instance, if you lost Miranda's loyalty, she would go back to Cerberus instead of following you, or if you lost Tali's loyalty, she would still be hurt by you throwing her father under the bus to trust you enough, etc etc.
I believe that we should be able to have the option of picking from all the former team mates from ME1 and ME2, depending on who is alive and loyalty. Ashley/Kaidan and Liara + 1 person from ME2 would be a given, as A/K and Liara survive ME1 and ME2, and you need at least one person alive to save you at the end of ME2. Also, I would hope Thane is not an option. His illness would leave him too weak or dead, and I dont want them going the route of curing him, completely making much of his interactions in ME2 pointless. So this would make for 14 possible teammates.
Next I would hope they would give us a chance to recruit people we have met before. Conditions for these teammates being available would rest on if they survived the situations where we met them.
1. Sidonis, Turian. Available if survives Garrus's loyalty mission.
2. Kal'Reegar, Quarian. Available if survives Tali's recruitment mission.
3. Shiala, Asari. Available if spared at the end of the Feros mission.
4. Maelon, Salarian. Available is survives Mordin's loyalty mission.
5. Conrad Verner, Human. Available if survives his own stupidity.
So this brings the total up to 19
Finally, I would assume that they would add brand new characters into the fold, so here are my ideas.
1. Hanar. Pure biotic since they cant lift anything. Would have amazing recharge time on powers to make up for lack of guns. Only available depending on actions with Preaching Hanar/Opold.
2. Elcor. Slow moving weapons specialist. Has high armor and can use heavy weapons. Only available depending on actions with Harrot.
3. Volus. Biotic/Tech specialist. Only weapon choice is a pistol. Only available depending on actions with Pitne For/Jahleed/Niftu Kal
4. Batarian. Tech and Weapon specialist. Only available depending on actions with Charn/Cathka.
5. Raloi. Always available
6. Female Krogan/Salarian/Turian. Always available.
So this leads to a final total of 25 characters to choose for your team.
also, that would be damn cool if characters we saved came back to join us from successful character missions. I'd let Kal'Reegar finally shoot off his rockeys.

I also liked the changed upgrading system, to some extent at least. It doesn't make as much sense for a trained soldier like Shepard to improve his accuracy. Instead, it was made into a research system; it made sense to me. The conversation made sense to me too; Shepard, renegade or paragon, is a born leader. The only thing limiting him isn't some speaking skill in persuasion, but whether he's committed enough to a particular path to say what needs to be said.
So those are things which have been complained about which I'd like to see in ME3.
I'd love to see even more interactions between squad members, and not just conflicts. I'd like to see them moving around the ship (even a little bit) and interacting. I'd like to see Wrex greeting Garrus or Liara greeting Tali when we meet each other. Stuff along those lines.
More support roles for the squad members too, and those roles can be something we feel the effect of. Not simply "calibrations." With Mordin we felt impact in what he did.
One final thing I'd like to see is a really imaginative sequence when fighting a reaper for an extended period of time would be to FEEL the effects of the indoctrination. I don't just mean some simple status hindrances; I'd really like to see how Bioware can affect the player, and by extension, Shepard. And to see Shepard TRIUMPH where Saren failed would be awesome.

1) Mass Effect 1 introduced me to RPGs and anything more RPG than that just boggles my brain which is why Mass Effect 2 felt like I had room to breath and just enjoy playing the game...the first two times. I think that the RPG elements got dumbed down to much for the sake of combat but the system works fantastically! Keep the armor customization and weapon loadout system but give the squadmates more unique weapons and as loyalty is gained unlock them for Shepard. And instead of telling us what our armor and weapons are suited for let us use the research station to research an upgrade and then put it in a slot in our weapon/armor a la ME1. And Keelah could we have helmets that aren't ugly?!
2) Another thing is the E-Mail system. I know its an easier way to talk to the player when they want to get information, but where is the gravelly voice of Lance Henriksen as Admiral Hackett? The voice only transmissions were a short, simple, and fun way to quickly get side missions and interact with NPC's without an elevator ride or a five minute jog across the Citadel. It was professional and logical. Why would an Alliance admiral contact you through E-mail? "Geth invading? Hang on Ill give you Shepard's E-Mail address." Lame. And Id rather take a prank call telling me "UR 2 SMALL" than a spam E-Mail.
3) Exploration is tricky. I like scanning planets now. The updates made it a lot easier to do and I think it was probably the most ingenious addition to ME 2. If BioWare keeps it, which i am not opposed to, i suggest making planets that have moderate or poor resources have more rare resources that can buy upgrades like the ones described above that are more powerful. More planets need N7 missions as well. A good balance between Hammerhead missions and the short on foot ones would be acceptable. Hammerhead missions should involve large territory to cover and combat that is suitable for a tank. The on foot missions need more squad involvement. Why isn't Garrus or Zaeed saying anything about Blue Sun activities? Tali when rescuing the quarian? Legion when fighting geth? etc. And let me know in a more direct way that something important has happened on a mission than in the summary at the mission complete screen.
4) Minor wish is less loading screens. Stairs and rapid transit are fine in hubs but I think elevators are better suited for transitions mid missions. The elevator loading screens when recruiting Thane/Samara are agonizing and kill the mood that is so well established before them. Also it gives the squadmates a chance to interact and gives us a breather from the combat. Some funny banter between Grunt and Wrex for example would be great after killing a bunch of turians.
5) Side missions are big. How we get them is crucial to the environment of the game. If you can talk to someone, it needs to relate to a quest. I don't care if its minor like getting Rupert better food, the repercussions of that quest are noticeable whenever you walk by Hawthorne's table. The best example of what I mean is Ish's quest. he stops you on the street in Omega and gives you a quest that takes you to the Citadel and Illium. Then you can do one of three things, give him what he wants, convince him its to dangerous, or give it to someone else. Although i forgot that quest quickly, it is notable for its requiring me to remember that I have something else to do on Omega. The missions where you find something someone is looking for but don't know it until after you've gotten it seem cheap an easy. Let me know I need to look for it before I go on the mission and then make it a bit harder to find. Lastly, avoid making a go to person. Going to Aria for information in order to progress in a quest made her seem powerful yes, but it also made her claim that Omega has no ruler kinda flimsy since nearly everything I did there had me asking for her help. Captain Bailey plays a similar role on the Citadel. Talking to those two after completed quests would be more interesting. I wanna see how pissed Aria can get at the things I've done and how much Captain Bailey is willing to let slide. Those things fuel the characters of people who we get to know then become static and stale by our third visit.
6) More HANAR! Where the hell did they all go?! I saw three in the entire game! There are more keepers than there are hanar! If you say you cut them because they're big stupid jellyfish I'll have Blasto cut off your quad and sell it to a krogan! Dont be tools!
7) My seventh point is the decisions. 1000 decisions from ME1 and ME2 are being imported into ME3. Fantastic. Thats awesome. But dont do it like this! a) E-Mail. Your love interest wouldn't send you an E-mail saying that the two of you are still alright. They would have a private conversation apologizing to you and maybe having a little holo-sex. JK but seriously dont make me read something and then try to say it mattered. Obviously it didn't because it wasn't spoken and had no impact on Shepard's character. Toombs is upset? Im not gonna explain myself unless he calls. b)Same situation, different interaction options.. Why is Conrad saying he learned to shove a gun in peoples face from me when I basically helped him like he was my autistic brother?(see what I did there?) I was the greatest guy in the world to him and I treated him with respect and he acts the same as he does on a renegade playthrough? A minor difference in Shepard's dialogue is all that reflects a prior decision. The same goes for your LI from ME1. My least favorite thing in the game is that disregard for variation in conversation and character. Plain laziness. c) Galactic News? WTF? d) I would rather get a Facebook notification saying Ashley and I are now in a relationship than I would an E-Mail. Seriously. Id dump Miranda on the corner where I paid her and be back in Alliance space before you know it. I REALLY hate the E-Mail system.
8) Crew Interaction. Kasumi and Kelly constantly say stuff about the squad. Same with Gabby and Ken. Let's spread a little bit of that round the Normandy. And who the hell is Burt? I hear he's been checking out Kasumi. When I find him his ass is spaced. Just sayin.
9) Keep the funny dialogue we eavesdrop on. I love that. Maybe comments on things I've done like at Hock's party. Beats Galctic News. Seriously. WTF was that?
10) My final point is one of encouragement. The previous nine points have pointed out what is lacking in this game. But this topic is about what we want for ME3. So here's the bottomline: Listen up BioWare. Keep the great storytelling, gameplay, energy, choice, customization, devotion, and love that you guys poured into ME2. We all love you guys for the amazing games you make and the treatment you give us whiny fans. Im so much of a geek that even if ME3 was conceptually the same as ME2, I'd still shell out 70 bucks. You guys have earned it. You're like the Christopher Nolan of video games and you constantly one-up yourselves. I am proud to own your masterful art and saturate my life with it constantly. I <3 BioWare and Mass Effect!!!!
P.S. Kal Reegar for ME3 squadmate!
P.S.S Galactic News? WTF?

I would like to see earth and if we see it at all (braces for rage)) would be if anyone ever saw Star Trek the voyage home or heck even Star Trek(Chris Pine as Kirk) I would like ME3 to begin with the court martial of Shepard given the past of Cerberus and despite Shep saving there tails twice, you can easily have a alliance political or military with a bug up there butt to try shepard for treason. We see earth and gives us plenty to begin with . I dunno just spitballin really

A court martial would be interesting.
I was just thinking a few minutes ago before reading this about a teaser trailer for ME3 could start with Anderson and Udina arguing about Shep by bringing up Cerberus and his/her relationship with the Geth.
