Things I Like About The Hammerhead
#1: The Jumps: While the platforming in the Firewalker pack was underwhelming the platforming sections in the Overlord DLC were a lot of fun. The platforming sections in Overlord weren't groundbreaking and the gameplay
wouldn't stand up if you found yourself doing it frequently; but as a change of pace its great. You have fun with it for a few minutes and it makes the on foot combat feel less repetitive.
#2: The Suspension: Switching to a hovercraft type suspension eliminated the annoying super bounciness of the MAKO's suspension which would frequently result in bouncing around or flipping over when you made a big drop. As a result jumping and using the jump jets in the Hammerhead is much more enjoyable and you don't have to worry about little bumps in the road flinging you into the air.
#3: The Speed: Hammering down the turbo boost and getting the Hammerhead up to full speed then using the jump jets to fly through the air is a lot of fun, though I wish the level designs gave me more opportunities to floor it.
#4: The Looks: The Hammerhead is pretty damned cool looking. Though, I would like an option to get rid of those damned Cerberus logos along with the ones on my ship and on my crew. Cerberus can kiss my ass.
Things I Hate About The Hammerhead
#1: The ****ty Autolock missiles: They're absurdly weak, they frequently lock onto enemies you aren't targeting
and they constantly fly themselves into the terrain.
#2: The ****ty Armor: The thing can barely take a few shots without bursting into flames. As a result you have to sit outside your enemies weapon range and wait an hour for your crappy missiles to kill them off or repeatedly pop into your enemies weapon range, fire off a few shots then run away.
#3: The Handling At High Speeds: At low speed the controls work fine for strafing or platforming; but at high speed you can't control where you're going because you can't turn. You can strafe from side to side; but you can't make a bloody turn. So you have to slow down and strafe your way around obstacles like a damned crab. As a result all the fun of flooring the Hammerhead at full speed is brought to a grinding halt every time you have to take a corner or avoid an obstacle.
How I Would Fix The Hammerhead
#1: Have The Enemies Chase Me: All the enemis you fight in the Hammerhead either sit in place or slowly walk towards you. Give me some enemies that will chase me down, enemies that will move to dodge my fire, not just a bunch of bullet sponges who sit in one spot and try my patience.
#2: Bring Back the Guns from The MAKO: The heavy cannon and the machinegun on the MAKO felt powerful and were a lot of fun to use. Yet for reasons which I can't comprehend they were taken of the Hammerhead and replaced with ****ty autolock missiles which take forever to kill anything and constantly miss their target. Give
me back some guns with bite, guns which make me feel like I'm driving a war machine not throwing pebbles at my bemused opponents.
#3: Remove The Scan Function: Hovering over objects to scan them is just irritating. It slows down the action
and worst of all it uses up one of the precious controller buttons which could be reassigned to something much, much more fun. If you want the player to pick something up on the map you should either have them pick it up simply by driving over it, stopping over it, or even getting out of the tank and picking it up on foot.
#4: Reassign The Scan Button (Y on Xbox) to Switch Between Multiple Weapons:
You'd have 3 weapons...
A: The Main Cannon From The MAKO: Just like in ME1 Its Powerful and has a large blast radius; but it fires slowly. So you need to aim carefully and since you can't zoom in and aim like you could in ME1 the weapon becomes harder to use the faster you're going. So its balanced out as a high risk, high reward weapon like a Sniper Rifle. Its devestating; but since the turret on the Hammerhead is always pointed forward you'll either need to slow down or barrell right into your opponent to aim it effectively leaving yourself more exposed to enemy fire. Furthermore its slow rate of fire means that missing a shot can be a costly mistake.
B: The Machine Gun From The MAKO: Just like in ME1 its less powerful than the Main Cannon; but more powerful than the autolock missiles. As in ME1 you can unload with the machine gun; but it will overheat. Since its fully automatic aiming with the machine gun is more forgiving than with the main cannon; but you still have to keep your targeting reticle over the target in order to score a hit. As a result you can aim the machine gun effectively at higher speeds than you can with the main cannon, thus exposing yourself to less enemy fire.
C: A Revised Version of The Autolock Missiles: Tweak the missiles so that they're more powerful and so they alway home in on the enemy you're targeting (enemies can still be obscured by terrain; but the missile won't switch to a different target). The autolock missiles would be the weakest of the 3 weapons; but also the easiest to aim since you only need to aim close to the enemy in order to score a hit. As a result you can aim the missiles effectively at higher speeds than you could the main cannon or the machine gun thus exposing yourself to less enemy fire than you would even with the machine gun.
#5: Make it tougher (Double its Health) and Bring Back The Overlays Showing How Much Damage I've Taken:
The Hammerhead is too damned weak to ever engage my enemies in a sustained fight. As soon as I fly in my tank starts falling apart and I have to retreat, which sucks out the fun. That said the MAKO was a little too tough and made dodging enemy fire less of a neccessity than it should be. I'd suggest a happy medium between the two, say giving the Hammerhead double its current health by adding shields and an overlay telling me how much my shields have been depleted and how much damage my armor has taken; but keep the automatic healing.
#6: More Car Like Controls at High Speed: At higher speeds the Hammerhead should handle more like a car, so that I can actually make turns rather than just strafing around like a crab. It would make the Hammerhead more entertaining to drive since it would be easier to maintain a highspeed by improving your ability to avoid obstacles and terrain at high speed.
#7: Rear View Mirror Button (Mapped to the unused B button on Xbox Controller): The B button on the 360 controller is completely unnused in the Hammerhead. I propose turning it into a rear view mirror button so that
when you hold it down the camera which switches to a split screen view showing whats in front of the tank on top and whats behind it on the bottom. Additionally holding down the rear view mirror button would rotate the gun turret so that it fires at targets behind the Hammerhead.
Now Consider The Possibilities...
Car Like Controls At High Speed + A Rear View Mirror + Enemies That Chase You =
#8: !!! Hovertank Racing For Fun And Credits !!! : Imagine what would happen if the Swoop Bike racing from KOTOR mated with Wipeout. You'd have a fun distraction that would give the player a way to make some extra credits at will; but which players who don't enjoy the racing could largely avoid. Like the Sqoop Bike Racing in
KOTOR you'd have several race tracks across the Galaxy populated by surly racers. Imagine racing around the Citadel Wards, plowing through the Jungles of Zorya, skimming around the islands of Virmire, barrelling
along the ruined highways of Tuchanka or zipping through the vacuum of space as you rocket across the outer hull of Omega. Now imagine doing that in a Hovertank, using your turbo boost and jump jets to leap chasms, unloading your machine gun into the racer in front of you, and using your rear view mirror and main cannon to obliterate the maniac firing missiles up your tailpipe.
Now tell me that wouldn't kick ass.

How were you disappointed in me2? Not angry with your opinion, I'm just curious because me1 was a disappointment to me, but me2 exceeded my expectations.Wreckerrick wrote...
i want nothing more from the mass effect universe. I was so greatly dissappointed in me2( my opinion - bugger off, i'm entitled) that i will not be playing the third installment regardless of any "improvements" are made.

Also this one feels more movie then most of the game itself does I loved how they brought back that classic bad guy feel. I hope more opportunities to be frank w/ crew members in 3 will come up! And the water works was a nice touch by the way I like how it looks very nice mechanics.
Also I like the costume changes Liara gets 3 or so that would be nice to bring over into 3 if you change your clothing like you're on the Citadel in your casuals then Garrus says hey you're meeting my mom so you go meet his mom somewhere lets say on Illuium but you show up in your dress clothes or something that'd be neat.
Loved the car case could we get more vehicles for 3 to drive it was fun using a brand new type of vehicle. And zooming around through all that flying traffic was very 5th element to me.
Some one suggested a glitch or comm jam where all translators go down and you're stuck trying to talk to your squad mates w/o it I like the idea but I'd like to hear their languages if they're not human and also maybe they have to spend a night or two w/o comms on world and you get to try to interact w/ them there too.
Let's see w/o giving it away the thing Hackett is trying to avoid can we get that to occur? Sure its creepy for me but it would be neat anyway to have happen.
I like the new SB toys keep advancing them all combine advancements and new material w/in future dlc and also in 3 give them a big kick.
Thanks for listening so far BW

Love the idea, maybe a reaper/shepard clone. I can think of a few great story idea's, part of the back story is already set up in the latest Mass Effect Novel Mass Effect Retribution.
And maybe the colectors were making a human reaper because Shepard was the only one who defeated a reaper...

Eg: Kick arse solider armour that only soliders can wear or a helmet thats awesome for a engineer. Or different types of omi tools that make you a better ai-hacker or better at using overload for example. Or some type of weapon only a class can get but not implemented the way it was in ME 2... I cant use AR oh wait im on the collect ship hang on I can now! WTF????

Anyway yes loved the banter between Shepard and Liara MShep kinda sounded worried which was good I wish Tali or Garrus would've chimed in two I hope at least during large fight scenes in 3 they keep the squad banter like lets say you're fighting 100 mercs then your squad mates and you can all talk sass to each other, yell at the mercs, I can imagine Kasumi taunting mercs while shep is screaming at her not to antagonize them more and such.
Also w/o spoiling...let me help Garrus I was sad and upset he didn't come to me about that if I'm going to Palvin in 3 also let me help him thats all I can say w/o spoils.
Yes I agree w/ comment on for 3 make a movie style plot ME2 felt like a TV show so make 3 epic w/ lots a plot and maybe several bosses in addition to the reapers you're getting that movie feel back in SB DLC so keep going.

Have them moving around and actually doing something. Walking to another section of the ship or room, you know? You'd think surely their feet would be hurting like hell after so much standing in one friggin' spot.
