What I want in ME3?

Minigame: Normandy's targetting sensors are down, you have to shoot down your enemies manually, que in awesome mini-game!

Normandy upgrading: This was already awesome. Bringing it more in line with the Vigil's Keep upgrade missions in DA: Origins would be even better! Perhaps instead of doing resource gathering you could do a contract for a corporation/military and they will give you upgrades. Would be nice to avoid the "grind".

For the first of all I'd like to see more Suicide Mission styled missions where you have to choose the right people for the right job. Not something that will cause deaths of teammembers, but that can affect your personal gameplay. Simply choosing the right people should make your job easier or give you additional ways to complete the mission.
I'm thinking like this: Each squadmember should have certain "invisible" points in different skills. Leadership, tech, biotics, close combat and ranged combat. Missions that require splitting your squad should be divided into different parts (simple checkpoint system), if you've chosen the right specialists, they will be able to do their job for the whole mission, choosing horribly wrong means that they'll only be able to do it for the first part, a pretty good squad can do their job for 3/5 parts of a mission for example. To shake things up some missions should include the possibility that the right specialists can open new possible routes for you.

This should also tie into your squads view of you as a leader. Constantly making the wrong choices should make them doubt you and your abilities, however making the right choices should make the team respect your leadership and trust you to a greater degree. Thus unlocking behavioural bonuses for team members such as improved cooldowns, better accuracy, quicker reactions to orders etc. Gaining that extra edge that comes from believing in their leader and giving all they've got on the battlefield.

-

Squad reactions to moral choices.
In the squad there should be three different moral "factions". Paragons, Renegades and the undecided. During missions and in dialog you get the chance to show your ideals and thus making one of the factions behave more positively towards you, making it easier to romance characters in that faction for example. But since you can have different views on different things there could be tension in the squad regarding certain matters. Two examples of big issues in the Mass Effect series is Xenophobia and treatment of civilians. This would make for oppurtunities to side with the various squadmembers on different issues, as well as convincing the undecided of one side.
This should also tie in with the respect system and bonuses I mentioned earlier, people that you agree with should get minor levels of these bonuses earlier than the ones you don't agree with, those you'll have to show what a badass tactician you are to unlock their trust/respect bonuses.

-

Sidequests that actually makes a difference.
My idea is that during one of your first missions you stumble right into a conflict where two small mercenary groups have been contracted by one side to end it (colony hiring mercs for retaliatory strike against slavers for example). These groups approach you with an offering of money for your help. Choosing a side and helping them means that their reputation goes up and they get several new contracts. When talking to the merc leader we get the chance to convince him/her of the right way to lead the group (Paragon/Renegade route)  The merc groups leader recognizes that your help probably is what made the difference and promises their help on your mission.

This means that on those bigger missions where you have to split the squad, you will also be able to request aid from the merc group and gets to choose between four specialists, tech, biotic, ranged combat/infiltration and close combat/assault. These soldiers can be used to bolster your specialist groups to ensure their success.
During the game the merc group will send their own requests for aid on different missions, including infiltration missions, assault, defense or even negotiations. Helping them out will unlock the option of bringing more merc cannon fodder on the final mission. Doing every last mission the mercs need help with means that you will get all four soldiers including a fifth who is a leader character, the squadleaders tactical skill and sheer presence with his/her soldiers boosts their abilitys, giving you a further edge in the battle. Doing only that first mission where you first meet the mercs will only give you the option of one of the specialists and so forth.

Bioware should do some stufs like that.

Building on something one of you said, what if some of the missions were time-sensitive? By that, I mean, what if they became more difficult depending on the order you do them in, or if certain missions have an expiration date, if they're not done in good order. They hinted at something like this with Liara, and the dialogue she had when you left rescuing her for last. But what if, say, you couldn't save Archangel, after a certain point in the game, if you choose to acquire other squad members first? Maybe it's a bad idea, but something of that nature, that things get progressively harder or that there are consequences for doing one thing first--and make them be tough choices: save Tali on one planet, or let a bunch of civilians die on another. (I'd save Tali, anyhow, but it's worth a thought.)

I like this idea. I support it.

Me too, it's a great idea.
BW would probably not go as far as letting main characters die because of what order you did things in, but a variation of it would be nice. For example a mission of defending a colony will become retake the colony if we wait too long. And the following mission of a retaliatory strike becomes a slave rescue instead. It wouldn't really change anything but it would give an overall feel that our choices actually has consequences. It would also add tons of replay value if missions could play out differently depending on what order you do them in.

This is something I look for since ME1. Time shoul be a decisive factor in ME3

Thank you. I do my best to come up with these ideas. I totally agree, BW won't likely change it. Therefore I propose a sort of Suicide mission meets Virmire style of missions. For instance, you want to break into a high security facility (like before) and you need a tech expert. You choose Tali and send Grunt along to guard her. Then you find a termina and hack it and that helps Tali hack the doors and cameras quicker. Your choices affect their work. Then, later on, you meet up with them for the final cutscene of that mission and possibly a quick firefight.

It's like you read my mind. Spooky.

Hehehe, this is the second time someone thinks I'm a chick on the forums :D

But this gives me an idea, if we make a female Shep look very masculine or a male shep very feminine maybe some characters should make that mistake in the game too...

That is a joke.

This might have been covered, but take out the arbitrary 'Mission Accomplished' screens at the end of every mission, it breaks flow of the game, as the first one felt more continuous without them. If you really want to have the stats, create a Mission Dossier thing on the private terminal so you CAN view stats of missions, but as an extra rather than 'BAM! This section of the game is over, see how you did'. It makes it feel like a game (It's a game, I know. Belt it.) and not an unfolding epic.

EDIT: Re: the time-sensitive thing, they've done a bit of that already in ME2 when you can arrive too late at the <insert spoilers and events here> because you didn't go straight away and worked on the team. I think it could work if done right, but it'd have to be very finely balanced and not on every mission, as that'd just make the game more linear if you have a running countdown on every mission. And a massive NO to timed missions with a stopwatch in the corner.

1. Bring back the light armor from ME1 please! I felt so weird in ME2 as an infiltrator and having to run around with paladin sized armor on, and visually the light armor just looks so much better IMHO.

2. Also, what I've been asking since Mass Effect 1, fix the character creator. Most people I think want to make their own Shepard, and the lack of options, oblong shaped face options, and dead complexion on the custom Shepard's faces is just damn ugly. I was really upset to see that ME1 and ME2 had identical character creation, no new hair even in ME2.

3. Planet exploration PLEASE. I always loved the Mako and was so disappointed not to see it in number 2. If not the Mako, maybe some other exploration vehicle? Amazing job nonetheless Bio brothas and sistas, keep up the good work!

I think ME3 should be a mix of a good things from ME and ME2.

From ME it should be:
1- deeper character leveling, more skills to improve,  new level should appear as it was in ME not after mission status (I don`t like this screen at all), in ME levelling was really fun
2- inventory (with lot of changes here of course, but still i prefer depth than simplicity)
3-  back to music style from ME (just love the epic feel with Virmir Ride or Vigil, they have that "dramatic feel", in ME2 there`s only one such great theme- Suicide Mission (The Attack is also good and few others :P but I`m trying to say i prefer ME1 music) ...Jack Wall is a genius for me, I believe he can create something incredible for ME3),
4 more interesting main opponents: I think Saren was memorable character, so was Sovereign, unlike those Collectors
5 more exploration with vehicle, I didn`t like controls of the Mako, not a Mako itself, exploration and fights were interesting, new hovertank is nice, just make it more important
6 depth and atmosphere that makes simple walking through locations exciting, that was in ME, i can`t feel it in ME2
7 Story telling- please don`t do it like in ME2, where gathering a team and completing loyalty missions means u almost finished a game, ME has many memorable missions- Ilos, Virmir which have that acomplishment feel, during end credits you feel u made something incredible . In ME2 only final mission is such memorable .
8 Presidium :P

from ME2 it should be:
1 - FIGHTING SYSTEM - love it in this game, best TPP SHOOTER ever, deep, exciting, just excellent
2- upgrades
3 - more diverse characters, it would be great if player HAVE TO choose, which character will join and which not, it should be impossible to get all of them, I think it could be fun
4 - "cinematic" feel
5- more DLC`s, i really like them

Other things:
make new, simple but deep mini games, get a rid of those hacking stuff from ME2 it`s boring, same as planet scanning

I got one thing I noticed when i was playing the first game the other day. When you're in combat and running around the camera kinda shakes a little bit. Made it feel alot more intense. But overall the combat in ME2 was waaay better.

And the music... well i thought the music was better in the second one. The suicide theme was sick. The other music was pretty good too but they seem to really be picking it up for the dlc. For example, the overlord dlc... there were more then a few parts where i almost sh** myself and part of it was due to the music. It was real spooky and thrilling and then when the combat hit it was BAM. Epic battle music. Same with the lair of the shadow broker music. Much better then in the actual game. Im a huge music junky and In my opinion good tunes while killing aliens goes a long way. Something bioware is definately improving already.

Oh yea... no more planet scanning. That should have been a no brainer in the first place. But i like how they have deep stories on almost all the planets. Think about how much time that must have taken. Especially since those planetary facts are based on how far the planet is from the sun and how dense it is etc etc. I bet theres some fat guy eating cheetos in bioware's basement researching all that.

I think a lot of things have been told... But not that ! Bioware, you should include this song in the futur Mass Effect :

Imagine the gunfights with this ! Plus, this band Principles Of Geometry sounds already like a ME, you maybe could cooperate with them, that would be great !

NO super hero/overtly sexualized armours for companions it looks ****ing stupid.
Its funny how people on these forums will diss the **** out of Halo saying its for shooter console tards and yet their portrayal of character's visual appearance is far more mature/realistic.
Eg) look at how the Halo Reach character Kat looks.

Some ideas may already have been be placed, so forgive me if I'm re-posting them.

I am still thinking in things to add to ME 3, but for now, the things I want for it are:

*More armors (Pieces or an entire set) to choose.

*Toggle the Armor's Helmet like in ME 1.

*Some missions with that air of "Virmire", but instead of us being the "infiltration team" we are the ones that are diverting attention away from our "sabotage team", a squad of 3 members from our own team that we may choose who will be in there and our choices will make their effectiveness being different. EX: 3 techs can do sabotages quickly but can't fight so well, while characters focused on combat can end it quickly but will take a long time to do a sabotage. We would have to choose if we want a "combat squad" that will wipe out any enemies they encounter, a "sabotage squad" that will destroy their targets (buildings, systems, defenses) but will take some time to end any enemy that might appear or a mix of both. This kind of mission where you have to choose someone to do a specific task would not kill any squad mate, only determine the time required for them to complete/end the sabotages/combats.

*Bring the Hammerhead and the Mako (Or an updated version of them) back. The Hammerhead would be used in rescue missions and "hit and run" situations due his high speed and low armor while the Mako, due his high armor/shields and fire power, would be used in missions where the focus is on combat, in exploration missions in planets with harsh climates and, maybe, in missions when we have to hold a position/city from the enemy threat while, for example, the Alliance evacuate the colonists. In short, The Hammerhead would be the "Stealth/Infiltration-oriented" vehicle and the Mako would be the Combat-oriented Vehicle.

*More Options for Haircuts, "Head models" and scars.

*In the "face builder", have the option to see the face we created in a short animation before the beginning of the game, so we could know if that face need some adjustments. This would possibly erase the need to restart the game and re-pass the intro just to make some minimal alterations in Shepard's face.

*More Casual clothes and the option to customize them

*More options to customize our armors, and by this I'm not just saying the armor pieces combinations, but more colors and art styles for them. If possible, a option to customize our weapons colors and art styles. Making every equipment unique in shape.

*Bring Back Ashley/Kaidan, Liara and Wrex if he did not died (If he died, then maybe Wreav). I think they, with the ME 2 squad would be enough. But if Bioware want to add some new members, I would suggest a Batarian squad mate or maybe an already-know character, like Feron, Tazzik, Kal'Reegar or even Gavorn. Also, having two characters from the same race, for me, is not a problem. ME 3 will be the last game of Shepard's history and with the Reapers coming, the galaxy will be in an complete chaos. That said, I don't think having, for example, two Krogans in your squad would make every single combat in the game easier for you. As an analogy, It would sometimes be like using "Overload" on a Biotic Barrier. Yes, you could destroy the barrier using it, but that would take too much time.

*More people in the same room. As an example, in Jacob's room we can see a lot of space and even a table with some chairs around, but anyone else in there, just him. Adding some new characters there would "give some life" to that room. We could put, for example, Ashley/Kaidan in Jacob's room while Wrex would stay with Grunt in Deck 4 and see them chat with each other like how Gabby, Kenneth and our quarian did. If we can't put "important characters" in the same room, then maybe some NPC's like those in deck 3.

*More conversations between the characters, seeing them developing a relationship while they talk (Like those chats the squad had in the elevators on ME 1).

*The option to use blind fire while on cover, use some objects as shields to go from one point to another while under enemy fire, biotics using, for example, pull on enemies even if they have full shields (Like in ME 1), Soldiers having a better "storm speed" and weapon damage and shields etc.

*No global cooldowns. This would make things imbalanced? If you put higher/different cooldowns for different abilities like in ME1, I don't think so

*The Mass Effect 1 "Tech Tree". We would spend points in the abilities we want to have. A lot of variations would be at our disposal.

*Before a new game, have the option to make Charm and Intimidate dialogues being at disposal if you put enough points on them in the tech tree or to be unlocked based on your actions during the game. For example, if someone want one or both options he/she will have to spent more experience points on them but they would get them much more quickly, but if they want to unlock them based on their actions during the game, they would take a bit more time and be restricted most of the time to only a Paragon or Renegade dialogue, but they would not have to worry in "wasting" experience points to unlock them.

*New Powers and the reappearance of old/classical ones.

*I don't think "ammo powers" and "grenade powers" would be a good idea. Give Shepard "X numbers" of tactical grenades and the option to put an specific ammo for each weapon (Like armor piercing ammo for an sniper and inferno ammo for shotguns).

*A greater number of RPG elements and a combat system more refined.

*The option to put some of our own musics to play on the Captain's Cabin, maybe?

*More character development, showing more of our Shepard's sentiments. Shepard is still human, so he/she must show the moments when he/she is really confident, scared, in agony etc.

*Love Scenes like those on Mass Effect 1.

*Maybe reutilize the weaponry system from ME 1 mixed with the one from ME 2. We would still have to use the thermal clips, but when don't have any more of them, we would still be able to fire before the weapon system overheat itself. As an example: We have a weapon that fire 16 bullets per clip. When we run out of thermal clips, we can still fire 8 bullets using the weapon's mass accelerator before it's system overheat, making us wait another 10 seconds or more before shoot again. This would give us a chance to fight even when we don't have thermal clips, but would not mean that we could survive waves of enemies without gathering ammo.

*When I see Shepard walking in ME 2 I think...he got some problems with his/her legs. Making an animation more fluid when he/she walk (Like the one from ME 1) would be better.

*Improved AI for enemies and squad mates.

*"Insanity" difficult being "Insane" to beat.

*Wider locations. For me, In ME 2 I feel ..claustrophobic. Making big maps, like Noveria, Feros and the ME 1 Citadel (Or bigger than them) would be...memorable. and give the feeling that we are living in a big society in the galaxy.

*Revisit Noveria, Feros, Tuchanka, Illium, Omega, The Migrant Fleet and go to some new places like Palaven, Kahje and Earth.

*Places like the Citadel need more people talking about their lives and the things happening in the Galaxy as the game proceed, I think. Right now, I think everything is so ... quiet. Also, I think places with a lot of people  (Citadel, Omega, Illium and even the Normandy itself) need to have some music playing in the Background. The music gives the place a "mark", something that distinguishes them, something that make every place unique and remarkable. Some themes to hear while walking around would help to make everything more vivid, more "exclusive" between the planets/locations.

*A long campaign.

*The awesome history that this game deserves, making every moment (most of them, at least) memorable.

*More (A lot more) main missions.

*More "interruption moments", but, maybe, varying the scenes. EX: In an interruption moment for a Soldier he could shoot someone in the leg to immobilize him, while a Sentinel/Vanguard/Adept would use his/her biotics to break this guy's leg. These interruptions would have the same result in both situations, the only thing that would change would be the method applied to get the result.

*More (Unique) Bosses.

*More soundtracks. The ones we have until now are all amazing, specially the song "Suicide Mission" in ME 2 and the Sovereign Theme along with the "Breeding Ground" in ME 1. Masterpieces, all of them. Also, maybe use another song from Faunts? M4 Part 2 was just...perfect. Sincerely, the ME 1 credits was "Mythical."

*Maybe the option to customize some things inside the Normandy, or maybe just put some ships models, paintings and statues in some places of our Normandy?

*For the Intro we could, maybe, have some "flashbacks" retelling us about the things we did (the most important ones, of course). Everything being told in our Shepard's own voice, obviously.

*Maybe some "finishing moves" when the enemy's life is low enough and we are at close range or some "melee fight scenes" when using the melee attacks against an specific kind of enemy?

*Interaction with new species of aliens.

*Maybe the option to recruit some people/aliens, not to fight with you in the battlefield, but some NPC's that would help The people on the Normandy, like engineers, mechanics, supervisors, a cook and maybe even some humorists.

These are, for now, my ideas/suggestions.

Bioware, please, take your time to make this game. Don't rush it's production and make this last game of Shepard's history something to be remembered. We will wait it's release, so don't worry about this. It might be frustrating to us to wait so long, but we will "hold the line". We've being waiting for "The Lair of the Shadow Broker" and we were rewarded with an awesome DLC, so I know the wait is worth. It doesn't matter if it will take 3, 4, 5, 10, 15 CD's, just make...quality. Something I know you can do.

bring in the comms system from ME1 but also give us the ability to communicate with characters from off of the ship

one channel goes to liara
one to the council
one to anderson

and so on

they can call you when needed or you can call them

also have the council send Shepard on special missions that would be nice

one more thing shepard is a spectre but he/she almost never uses the benefits of a spectre like being able to view crime scenes or going into restricted areas or something

most noticed the lack of spectre status during the samara recruiting mission

Unstead of just changing stats on suit armor/pieces, why not have special traits attached to some pieces, got some of the ideas from DoW:

Unshakeable = Recovery time from being knocked back by a melee hit or concussive blast is vastly reduced

Counterattack = Being hit by a melee attacker will randomly give your character a free counter attack which will be carried out automatically. This attack will count as a critical hit dealing triple the damage than a standard melee hit (May work with certain weapons)

Aegis Shield = If hit head on by weapons fire, some projectiles will reflect back at the attacker (Only works with certain projectiles)

Firewall Defensive System = Hit by a melee attacker, the attacker will be stunned by an electric charge for a duration

A vehicle with traits between Mako and Firewalker

Admiral Hackett Reveal

Loyalty Mission for Joker + Possible Romance between Joker and Fem Shep with "Repercussion"

Confrontation with Miranda's Father

No SR3 (I don't want to lose EDI!)

All classes get access to all weapons, but bring back all the weapons unique attacks (Carnage, Assassination etc) to not weaken the soldier as a class by losing one of it's class bonuses.

A line where, when the Citadel is under attack by the Reapers (or whatever) you get to tell the Turian Councillor "Ahh Yes, Reapers..." when he pleads for your assistance. Then merrily tell him no and go and save Earth!
