i mostly got annoyed by the guns having ammo. on insanity i'm running out all the time.

i actually want them to lower the party member count. i never used pretty much anyone but 2 or 3 people regularly.

the battle rifle... the only good assault rifle. why only one?

more importantly, why only two pistols?

get rid of scions. no enemy should be that hard to take out and can so easily kill your entire team.

if my inferno ammo is supposed to be great at eating up armor, then why the hell isn't it taking out those scions?

i wanted to be able to change class on new game+ but you won't let me..... WHY?

there should be way more armor pieces that what actually is there. the armor should be another layer of spec-ing shep out. as well as having alot of different looks.

i wasn't able to import my ME1 character originally since i had that save file deleted a long time ago. when miranda was asking questions she should've asked more that would've allowed me to let the game know that i let wrex live.

can't think of anything else now.

I'm annoyed by the guns too, if real life heatsinks worked that way we'd be without more things than I could list! Anyhoo just keep it simple keep the system they already have in ME2, but add an ammo regen when your not shooting 'cause you're not building heat if you're not firing your weapon.

I would like biotics to be a bit more effective against shields and armor.

I would like Tali for femshep. I mean, it is so obvious she likes you.

Being able to use some reaper technology. The collectors were cool but a reaper gun would be awesome.

More weapons in general. Only having 2-3 guns to choose from was quite underwhelming.

Being able to take the helmet off of DLC armors. It really made no sense that everyone is able to recognize me while I am dressed as a collector.

Squadmates not being so stupid. You improved them but they still have stupidity to stand up and try and shoot something when they are about to die instead of staying in cover to regen shields.

A whole lot of interaction with our invading mecha monstrosities. They tend to have awesome dialog.

Get rid of the contrived ammo system.

Put back customisation of weapons and armour.

Much more gear/armourweapons to loot/buy/use/customise.

Put back the inventory.

Put back a vehicle.

Add back all the various abilities. Get rid of the shared cooldown.

Have more than a few hours of main mission. I felt as if almost all of ME2 was spent recruiting people. I know it was a vital part of the game, but it felt like it took precedence over the plot line.

More 'reapercussions' (pun intended) for our actions. I kept hearing things mentioned in ME2 about what I'd done, or what had happened. However I never actually -saw- anything.

Tiny areas. Corridor areas. This was a ME1 problem. In fact my only major beef with ME1 was the corridor feeling. It was still there in ME2. I know casual gamers might get frustrated if they got lost, but really, all you need to do then is add a proper map back into the game, instead of having a silly, pretty useless radar.

Breath some life back into the game. On omega there's like one apartment in the entire apartment section and it's locked. "Oh so that's for a mission later." It just sucks all the immersion out of the game.

More interaction between crew members. The Jack/Miranda scene was pretty well done, if a little short.

Focus on what you do best. Make ME3 an RPG, not a console shooter.

Please, please, make ME3 an improved ME1.

Oh, and a toolset, PC console etc. so that players can fully customise the game for themselves would be great.

A chance to explore Shepard's feelings a bit more would be nice. It's a little irritating that all we get to do is explore other peoples pasts' and ask them how they feel. I'd like to characters to show some interest in how Shepard is feeling. Maybe there could be some converstion options with your LI wereby they ask you how you think the mission is going. It'd be a nice change to be able to express any regrets you have, what you might have done differently, who you miss and why etc.

Let's make Shepard more human, not a emotionless robot merrily kicking mercs out of tower-block windows without a care in the world. He's been through a lot, I think it's time he got the chance to show a few cracks in that mental armour once in a while...

I think that it would be nice to be able to hand pick your squad. Being able to choice between 20 or so people would add some depth to the game. I really could have lived without Jack's attitude. <_<

Get to Level 50.

More NPCs fighting along your side. (Even though, they can be weak, just to make it a challenge).

A spa on your ship for some good relaxation.

Uh...am i the only one wondering why the sticky about this is only about Items and graphics?

Story anyone? Or is the edit-function simply gone by now? It's hard to bring most of this up without being too spoilerific, but i'll give it a shot.

There are many great, thorough discussions on the spoiler forum about how to handle the story, or moreso about how not to handle it.

- We want meaning to our decisions. Wether we made a good or a bad choice should really get back on us in ME3. And NOT in a sense that Renegade equals stupid. Have believable repercussions. If i saved something that might prove valuable later, don't punish me for it only because it wasn't necessarely the nicest thing to do

- Make it epic. This is actually one of the most important points for me. We don't want to fight another placeholder for the Reapers, we want to fight the real thing. There has to be the feeling that we're fighting a hopeless fight against the biggest threat known to the galaxy. A feeling that was particularly lacking in ME2. Don't have them linger around in Dark Space once more

- Make the galaxy care for once. While it was fun to have all the little ads and newstickers, there wasn't the feeling of menace. Have the Reapers appear, full scale, undeniable. I want panic, i want riots, i want full scale war. Shepard being the only one who knows about and acts against the threat simply doesn't cut it in the final part of the series

- Tie the loose ends. We want to know more about the tidbits of info we picked up throughout the first two games. Whats with the Leviathan of Dis? What about the 37million year old culture fighting the Reapers? Who created them? Give us more lore-dialogues, as with Vigil in ME1

I want only two things:

-give me back my Mako, so I will not have to scanning planets what's boring really

-don't allow EA Poland destroy game again with pathetic voice actors. Give me chance to play ME3 Xbox version with original VO ( eventually with polish subtitles),

Everything the OP mentioned is good.

My own additions:

- Let squadmates from ME2 return as squadmates for ME3. ME2 was all about the stories of the squadmates. To sideline them now, because they had the possibility to die on the suicide mission, would be a disservice to the story and the fanbase, especially with many of the very interesting storylines introduced in ME2 ( Dark Energy, anyone? ).

This goes doubly for Tali and Garrus, who absolutely need to be in the ME3 team and at least Tali should be important to the storyline, for her involvement with the Dark Energy storyline. They are the most loyal companions of Shepard, together with Liara, so having them missing would resonate badly upon the storyline.

Also, ME3 needs more Tali romance.

- More interaction between the squadmates. Dragon Age: Origins did this very well, but in Mass Effect 2 the squadmates rarely interacted with each other. It would have been very interesting to see how Tali and Subject Zero react to each other, or have Garrus and Grunt have conversations. Maybe this could also be still added as a DLC for ME2, I would immediately buy it.

- More flexibility in choosing powers for your class would be nice. The selection of abilities in ME2 was a bit too limited.

Paperghost wrote...

hmm - not overly keen that the very first post in the thread pretty much cries out "please make ME3 almost identical to the first game".

1) what is the obsession with having the citadel back AND making it massive even though the focus of the game has clearly shifted elsewhere by this point? the overly large hubworlds in ME1 were great for giving a scope and feel of realness to the locations, but having to hoof it from point A to point B was eventually horribly boring, even with fast travel.

they've already established scope, no need to redo.

2) also: please, no more mako. it'll just be used as needless padding for main quest missions, or used in combination with a return to cut n paste spamworlds. let's see how the hammerhead DLC pans out and take it from there.

3) Inventory - again, please no. it'll just boil down to obsessive stat hoarding in relation to weapons & armour, which just means a ton of junk and everyone using the same gun & armour combo. what's the point? there's always the risk the inventory will return with a horribly mangled interface again - this would be bad, bad, bad for the finale.

4) despite the crazy calls i keep seeing online for "all of the main mission worlds from the first game" to make a return, please do not do this. i've no idea what the surreal obsession is with wanting to make an identical game to the first one but please just keep doing what you're doing.

5) PLEASE reduce the amount of blue / red prompts in dialogue for the next game. it didn't seem to be as noticable in the first game, but here almost every conversation trains the player to simply ignore other avenues of discussion in favour of the "instant win" red or blue switch.

it would be much more preferable if overtly paragon / renegade choices were simply the same colour as the rest of the dialogue, and let us feel our way through what we think to be the most relevant choices than just "oh....it's blue time again".

i guess this won't happen now though as the system is too far integrated into the game. what's silly is if you play the game with a mixture of paragon and renegade choices, shepard sounds almost crazy - the actor is clearly doing two types of voicework for paragon and renegade, and its particularly noticable with the male character. try mixing up some para / renegade choices in a conversation that allows it, and it falls apart pretty quickly.

6) only being able to change armour by going to your cabin is a horrible idea. the number of times i wanted to change mid-mission (or right at the start) only to find i couldn't was silly. also, many times i'd buy some new stuff or upgrades for my suit then completely forget to go to the cabin before going into the mission. not sure what the thinking was behind this, but if you can have immersion breaking "weapon change lockers" in the middle of alien ships or stuffed into completely unlikely locations in general then i should be able to do the same with armour.

7) i love that some guns you pick up earlier can still have a specific advantage over one you might pick up later in the game that is of the same type. HOWEVER - please, please, please REMOVE the system in place that automatically changes the weapon you have to the newest one in the same weapon class. many times i'd specifically select a heavy weapon, only to have it taken away from me and replaced with the newest one I'd just picked up - often miles away from a weapon locker.

8) finally, please no "explorable" worlds in the manner of ME1. randomly generated worlds get boring fast, and anything you spend time on designing for this will just eat up precious disc space in relation to the conclusion of the story. i want every last byte to tell it as it is, not have it diluted so people can get all nostalgic over something that wasn't very well implemented in the first game. if you want "exploration", just throw in some more N7 missions and keep the disc for nothing other than material directly related to the conclusion of the trilogy.

i really, really couldn't care less about "exploring" randomly generated maps, pushing lightup buttons or pretending to hack derelict spaceships for some iridium when the third game rolls around.

storyline only content, please.

Amen!!

Story comes first!

ME2 is lean and allows the player to concentrate on the story (even though its story is pretty weak). A few more meaningful sidequests besides the usual "stop the pirates", "destroy geth outposts" would be okay something similar to the Cerberus side missions in ME1.

Wishlist? .. hmm.. let's see.. Well, an improvement on all these issues which i have already stated. (contains spoilers)
AND.. as you can see in my signature, i want Earth. Give me Earth! I NEED EARTH! ^^
Come on. After all, it IS the capital of the Aliance, and Shepard's a human. He MUST visit Earth on occasion, its as simple as that.

I haven't read all this thread.

But I would like for old team mates of ME1 join the crew again.

Sheppard returning to the Alliance (at least give us the choice either Alliance or Ceberus at least)

Major plot point and mission on Earth, Mars.

The Citadel returning to be a major location like it is ME1.

Everyone has Ideas for ME3, here's a way to compile them perhaps:

There was a time, not so long ago, when a developer's devoted fans could write or email them with an interesting thought regarding an upcoming game, and somebody at their office would take notice and subsequently utilize the idea in their production. Unfortunately, due to Bioware's soaring popularity and perhaps its acquisition by EA, they are unable to entertain this never-ending stream of ideas at present. There is just no feasible way that the masses can effectively communicate with Bioware currently, and as this group of frustrated mutes continues to grow the problem only gets worse.

This is one such person's attempt to unite this group of unheard aficionados so that they can once again speak to the creators of the games they want to love so much.
The Bioware social network has given us the ability to poll the populace! With enough work and cooperation we should be able to come up with a general consencus regarding improvements to mass effect 3.
At this discussion/poll's conclusion I hope to have 5 key improvements to suggest to the developers on the community's behalf based on their votes.
I will check this discussion every 2 days and update it with the links to the associated necessary polls. Please check back frequently.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We need THOUGHTFUL, CLEAR and CONCISE suggestions for improvements to the unreleased final part of Bioware's Mass Effect trilogy. With any luck someone with some pull at Bioware/EA will take notice.

Please avoid submissions such as:

"Bring back/dont bring back (insert NPC name here)!!!!!!!!!"
Instead point out what you liked or didn't like about the said character intelligently so that the Devs can address your concern if they choose.

"The graphics, music, sounds should be better.."
Be specific! What needs to be improved graphically or auditorily and, more importantly, how?

"The story for mass effect 3 should include (insert your plot outline)."
This is not the place to discuss the story arc. Instead make a generalization of your approval/disapproval for aspects of the story so far. For example "In my humble opinion, the paying customer would be better satisfied by deeper NPC story arcs and fewer NPCs." would be suitable with some justification added for good measure.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please, Please, PLEASE do not add to this discussion unless you have something you believe is extremely valuable regarding the sequel's development.
I have included a sample poll as an example of the kind of questions that need to be asked.

Thanks people. Let's get this done.

Head to:
http://social.bioware.com/422131/polls/2015/
for the first question

Switching disc is not a problem (at least ME2 style was good). Make it 10 disc if you want, it does not matter as long as there lots to see, many npc to talk with, lots of huge locations to visit, more thing to be done.

Pleople were playing ME for the past 4 years, and at a time when ME3 will come out it will be only longer, so make the last part epic!

I asked for it when the official Mass Effect 2 suggestions topic went up on the old forums, and didn't get it, but I'll try again for Mass Effect 3.

Please for the love of all that is holy and good put in a weapon and armor crafting and upgrading system. You had all the underpinnings to do it for Mass Effect 2, and now there are even stronger infrastructure points after Mass Effect 2, but you got to take that extra step.

It was the one thing that I thought Obsidian did better than Bioware in KOTOR 2, they really opened up the item and weapon creation system, the whole finding items and the way you could create and upgrade your weapons and lightsabers, it was really great.

Sort of like Dragon Age has, but with more focus on the armor and weapons, not so much on traps and potions and items although adding the option to find components and build say an omni tool or biotic amps would be just fine. .

It's already kind of there with the research programs, just too limited, and I'd really like to see the ability to research a weapon upgrade, then if it's an external upgrade, like say optics or a new barrel for a gun, then have that actually show up on the skin for the weapon in the game, so you can create very unique looking as well as operating weapons and armor.

To me it adds so much to a game, really opens a whole nother realm of character personality. Makes the character that much more yours, and if your willing to put in the time and effort into a system like that as a player, it lets you show that off and feel your efforts in the combat. If done right, it's just a very valuable and deep enrichment to the experience. No one does it anymore, not on console games especially, and with the technology that is out there now, this is the kind of thing that we should be getting all the time and can really be shown off.

After reading through the forum I can't help but shake my head in agreement with a good deal of your ideas and critism.

Storywisw 1- I would like to seen a big and final conclusion with a li. I wanna see talis face (cough).2- Give my squad mates more to say. Talking to them was intresting the first or second time but then they really don't have anything to say after that. In me1 I liked talking to my team to see what's new. In me2 there convos run dry pretty fast.

3-I would like to see atleast one more mission like the suicide mission where I give orders and tasks to my team. I really felt lik a comander.

4-When selecting diolog options I would like the choice wheel to be a little more spacific on what my charector will actually say. Sometimes the renigade option looks more apealing only to see my charector randomly yell at somone or remark an extremly rude manner.

Gameplaywise 1- I think the inventory could be a LITTLE bigger. Only a little.

A longer game. 2- I found that a great deal of my squadmates got overshadowed because of how late I got them in the game. I really didn't have enough time to use them all witch is a shame. In all my playthroughs I've never finished my convos with legion.

3-The cover systom is great but it still needs touching up. A great many of my deaths had to do with me trying to jump over an object and get to safty only to see that it won't let me.

4- I think some classes need touching up like the infiltraitors cloak witch I barey ever relyde on. Its a nice feature but nowhere neer as advantages as the sntinals tech armor witch could constenly be repenished after its cooldown. No matter how long you can hold the coak it goes away not long after you attack and I can never seem to activate it intime for another hit. Not being able to heal while cloaked left me extremly vulnerable and I was better off not using it as often as the sntinals tech armor or the sodiers adrenilen rush ect.

Hi Guys & Gals

I finished Mass Effect 2 and all I can say is well done Bioware I was totally blown away I thought their was so much attention to detail in Mass Effect 1 but in Mass Effect 2 you have exploded it thank you.

I don’t usally comment or suggest things on forums I only do so on games I really love and the Mass Effect games made me an RPG or Action RPG gamer I am now and I know Bioware has a excellent reputation for listening to fans so here’s a few suggestions if I’m wrong in some things please feel to PM me but I’m going on what I saw and thought about on what I’d like to see in Mass Effect 3 and additions if possible to Mass Effect 2.

Planet Scanning & the Resources Management:

Great idea I love scanning I know some people don’t like scanning but that’s what you do in space so forgive me for saying “get over it it’s space it’s part and parcel (lol)” I love that level of detail. Also it helps improve the ship and tools you use so it’s worth the scanning it could be life saving. My suggestion in this area is after I finished the game I still had resources so I can use for upgrades but how about in Mass Effect 3 if you keep the Scanning and Resources system which I beg you please keep it how about in Mass Effect 3 instead of just using the resources for upgrades why not let us go to Space Stations or other Facilities and sell the resources for money/credits. Once you done all the ships upgrades etc why not let us sell the spare resources to get money so we can buy weapons, armour, new vehicles etc also in the Mass Effect universe I would think they’d keep a certain amount of resource separate from the main tanks etc to refill the ship’s/crew’s ammo stocks I don’t know if anyone noticed or if it’s a bug when you start a new mission you start it with the ammo amount you had after the last mission so you have to be careful with the firing so why not keep some of the resources to automatically restock all the weapons for the crew after every mission to be ready for the next mission .

The Citadel:

I love the Citadel I like the new areas but I would of liked to of gone to the Presidium (sorry if I spelt it wrong). After the attack and being away for 2 years it would have been nice to of seen how it has changed i.e. new shops, bars etc to replace the old ones either destroyed or the owners killed it might even look totally different after the attack so it would have been nice to see the fixed/retrofitted Citadel. But I suppose you could put it in DLC to let us explore the Citadel again unless they can’t for some technical reason but if that’s the case I’d like to see the retrofitted Citadel in Mass Effect 3.

Characters:

One criticism I hear from a few people is that some of the previous characters are not as friendly and in certain circumstances are hostile/indifferent to Shepard. I have to agree in some regard I can see why Ashley was the way she was with him that’s fine but Councillor Anderson telling you he can’t trust you with certain information while your with Cerberus is a bit wrong in character in Mass Effect 1 he praised you and said you’re a hero in his book but if that’s the case why not except the devil you know approach and help a friend and man who gave him a new lease of life and say “Hell I don’t like it Shepard but I trust you”.

Side Missions/Loyalty Missions:

Bioware the Side missions/Loyalty missions in Mass Effect 2 were freaking awesome keep them as they are the side missions were between 10 to 40 minuets long with interesting and hard choices to make in some of them and the Loyalty missions are just under or over an hour kind of time and I thought that was a great balance between them and you did it perfectly I look forward to seeing it again in Mass Effect 3.

The Crew:

I liked the interactivity with the crew and talking to them but expand it a bit more you had 3 side mission things to do but why not a few more or for the other crew members after those of have the games completion and also why not do some of the side mission stuff for your team mates not loyalty missions but other things like Garrus for example his Armour got messed up why not after the mission or after the games completion why not go on a quest or mission to buy him or find him some armour or go on the Turin Homeworld to his family house to retrieve his old armours etc and have a story mixed in with it etc. I must say with some of the crew it was nice to have a laugh and tease with the old crew I hope it continues in Mass Effect 3.

Past missions from Mass Effect 1 & 2 into Mass Effect 3 and currently in ME2:

I love the messages or help I got from people or from past mission related people I helped etc I’d like to go to some of the things they talk about the Tera Nova Colony after the Asteroid nearly hit they offered you to come and see it after 2 years for a celebration why not let us go there it can be a speech type scenario and also a new mission could start up or unfinished business shows up etc or after some loyalty missions I heard some of my friends went down the other choices and got things or upgrades I had to get another way cause I didn’t got that way and made that choice why not after the mission or the games completion we could fly back to the places and land and collect what we missed and see the areas we missed etc.

Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3 or even better Mass Effect Trilogy:

I know there were rumours and still are about Mass Effect 2 coming to Playstation 3 either way I own both and I must say I would love to have Mass Effect Universe on the Playstation 3 and I would buy them for that as well as the Xbox 360. I don’t know if EA/Bioware have an exclusivity deal with Microsoft but if they can’t give us Mass Effect 1 or the rest till the end of it I think people and Sony gamers would buy them for PS3 so please think about it you’d have my money and I bet you’d have a lot more people who’d like it on Playstation 3. Why not do a Pole when you or the exclusivity ends I bet that would tell you what or if it would be wanted on PS3 and I think it should be called Mass Effect Trilogy that sounds epic...

Downloadable Content & Avatar Items etc:

I know Mass Effect was a bit let down in DLC I loved Bring Down the Sky but I didn’t buy Pinnacle Station for the simple reason of it being a War Room simulator like in X Men Origins and Mass Effect deserves more than that (My opinion no offence to anyone who got it) so for Mass Effect 2 and 3 like Bioware said if theirs a demand we’ll do it well there is Bioware I want loads of mission’s and weapon/armour packs for Mass Effect 2 and in Mass Effect 3. I don’t know what Bioware can do with Mass Effect 2 DLC but if possible I’d like to be able to get back my old crew and bring them in to the new team or rebuild the friendships in some way ready for Mass Effect 3 and for other contents please give us Premium Themes and Avatar Marketplace items I want ME2 Armours and Weapons for my Avatar and a flying SR2 Normandy flying around my head.

I wish I could think of more but I can’t right now I’m playing again cause I just can’t get enough. If I come up with anymore ideas I’ll post again I don’t know if these ideas will get to anyone at Bioware or the Team but I hope they do especially the Resources suggestion I think that would be a logical thing to put into Mass Effect 3 I bet they didn’t think of doing that if anyone knows they read my ideas and liked them let me know it be nice to know.

Take care and enjoy the game guys and gals I know I will.

A sticky wishlist for ME3? Thanks, BW, I'll try and keep it short and to the point:

The TOP 3 Wishlist:
----------------------------

Make more believable places/less fragmented places/less linear levels/places revisitable!
This is all one issue. The indoor levels in ME2 look too much like shooter levels and too little like believable places. Believable places are very often bigger, but most importantly they don't consist of one linear tube of a level that's seemingly disconnected from the rest of the world and which you can't ever revisit even if they haven't been destroyed in a mission.

Let the player move more and be moved by the game less.
In ME1, you had to go to places where interesting things happen. In ME2, you're often teleported there. Missions are even fragmented by teleportations, as in that one where you have to shadow a turian from above in a Citadel hallway. You're also teleported away when most missions end. Things like this reduce immersion and should be used only where they are absolutely necessary. The ME universe felt much more seamless in ME1 than in ME2. I'd like that seamlessness to return in ME3.

Let us keep our ME2 love interest characters in our team this time - if they live!
I know it may be hard with all the possible combinations. But: please make it possible. It was hard to lose them from ME1 to ME2, and it'd be harder to lose another. One time is an event, but two times adverse effects story continuity. Severely.

Other Issues:
-------------------

Make fewer team member characters but more story for every one of them!
I like them all, even those I don't like ;). But there really are too many. It detracts from the story.

Devote more, and/or longer, missions to the main plot!
As much fun as the team member missions were, I felt I was playing a game about collecting team members, not about stopping the Collectors. I'd like that to change.

Keep resource collection as part of the exploration of places - but differently:
In ME1 resource collecting got boring fast, took a lot of time, but was completely optional. In ME2, it also got boring fast, took a lot less time, but was not optional. The latter is worse. I suggest these guidelines: (1) If resource collection is not optional, it must not be as repetitive as in ME2, even if it takes less time than in ME1. In this case, the majority of resources should be placed in the bigger and more intricate places ("levels"), I suggested above, not in places it takes scanning or long exploring to find. Exploring planets would be optional again. (2) If resource collection is optional (as in ME1, only for collection quests and money), then these restrictions need not apply. (3) If you want to keep it as in ME3, let us at least buy resources if we have money to spend.

Make a more believable end boss this time!
Not to spoil anything here, but the whole thing about the end boss, how it came into being and why, and its shape, and how the enemies' missions on human worlds tied into it, was completely unbelievable. Like straight out of a trash movie. You have proven you can tell better stories. Several times. Do it again, please.
