Sidemission
improvement.
There was a great improvement in ME2 sidemissions in
contras to ME1, but I would had liked some more depth to them. Maybe
a sidemission could give us some trivia about the reapers? Some more
dialouge challenges (like the "Major Kyle" mission in the
first game) or something else that has a more noticable impact than
just a "Thank you" mail. Maybe finding a big bad gun or
some dirt on a ambassador? Just something a little deeper. Fallout 3
succeded in this (but hey, two thirds of that game are sidemissions
only).
Visit the Flotilla.
(Possible Spoiler Alert)
Tali's
loyalty mission was one of my favourites because I really fancy the
Quarians, and it would be cool if you could run around some in the
Flotilla in ME3, like you do in the Citadel or Omega. Find sidemissions, talk to people and maybe even aquire an Envirosuit armor for Sherpard. The reason Sherpard are allowed on the Flotilla could be that he/she really did a good impression in ME2? And if you choose to romance Tali it would be most logical to let Shepard aboard. I want more of the Quarians! And with the revelation that all Geth don't hate organics the Quarian really should play a bigger part in the story!
Bigger Citadel
I liked walking around in the Citadel in ME1, and it was a little downer that you could only visit one ward in the sequel, more citadel! Have Shepard help C-Sec some more, maybe let Garrus back as an officer there? Because he could tell Shepard he would rejoin the C-sec and apply for the Spectres in the first game if you made the right choises. More markets, trivia and the return of Barla Von! He could invest money for Shepard in different companies wich later on in the game can give special bonuses? Like, invest in a mining company and you get some resource bonuses, invest in a biotic company and they share some prototypes with you, etc.
Keep the ME2 Crew
Keep the surviving crewmembers as keyfigures and allies in the squad. Especially Mordin, Tali, Jack and Thane! And give Legion some other abilities, he's all too like Tali right now.
Trophies
One of the parts that I thought added some flavor to ME2 was the ability to purchase things for your kabin. I really liked the detail that you could find Shepards old helmet and it was later visible on his desk. More of this please! And also, let Shepards kabin have some trophies from bosses he meet, a special weapon on the wall. A piece of armor or just about anything! A little like how Zaeed keeps stuff from his old missions! Also, let us read the comic that was available to buy in some way. And a pet warren would be apprciated!
Let EDI Scan Planets
Scanning planets for resources was fun for a while, but there should be an option for EDI to scan for resources for you instead. As a side effect you maybe will not get as much resources in comparison if you had done it itself, but the option would be very welcome!
More Romantic options
Honestly, after you romanced someone in ME2 there wasn't that much more to do. Let there be some more dialouge, some more effects than just a stonefaced Shepard cuddling with someone in bed. Let Shepard cheat and then try to get away with it paragon or renegade style. Make him pay if the love interest finds out! Jack's "**** Off" wasn't all that fun to hear after a while. Or let the relationship deepen even more! The possibilities are endless!
Looting
I really missed the looting from the first game. There could had been some more looting in the sequel.
What to keep
The new armor customization in ME2, felt nice to not have half a dozen armors in the invetory.
The weaponssystem works very good too. Keep!
The Crew.
Choises between costumes for both Shepard and the crew, maybe even some more clothes could be added?
Joker and EDI's relationship, let it get deeper. Maybe she could make a Cortana like hologram of herself?
The upgrade system
The new/old love interest as an ally.
Loyalty missions.
Resource collecting (but improved)
The interruption choises
Improve or Cut
The fuelsystem, why would a starship with an element zero core run out of fuel?
Make the little modelship of Normandy more visible on the starmap
Special ammo as a power. Let us add special ammo to the weapons in the locker instead.
I could probably make this wishlist alot longer but for now I'm empty of ideas. ME2 improved so much from the first game and kept the right things so I'm sure that Bioware will pull of the third one too!

While there are many characters, shepard only spends the story with limited to 2. While i can understand adding squad member make things complicated, why dont make the missions less linear and more exciting by involving everybody? Like the last collector mission.
The annoying thing about ME2 and Dragon Age is that all the "efforts" are only to prepare for the last fight, instead of for the whole game. Next ME/DA should learn from, for example Japanese RPG Suikoden. Where the characters recruited and their levels could determine the "battles" that occurs many times througout the main story

Seriously stop complaining they made ME2 off what people like you said, and yet it's not good enough. I love this game, it's my favorite one I own. Just enjoy it, please.
This thread is not complaining, it's a wishlist for what people would like to see in ME3.
And since its stickied the Devs obviously cares, which is a very good thing
And i agree with you, its a great game. But it could always get better right?

Everyone has Ideas for ME3, here's a way to compile them perhaps:
There was a time, not so long ago, when a developer's devoted fans could write or email them with an interesting thought regarding an upcoming game, and somebody at their office would take notice and subsequently utilize the idea in their production. Unfortunately, due to Bioware's soaring popularity and perhaps its acquisition by EA, they are unable to entertain this never-ending stream of ideas at present. There is just no feasible way that the masses can effectively communicate with Bioware currently, and as this group of frustrated mutes continues to grow the problem only gets worse.
This is one such person's attempt to unite this group of unheard aficionados so that they can once again speak to the creators of the games they want to love so much.
The Bioware social network has given us the ability to poll the populace! With enough work and cooperation we should be able to come up with a general consencus regarding improvements to mass effect 3.
At this discussion/poll's conclusion I hope to have 5 key improvements to suggest to the developers on the community's behalf based on their votes.
I will check this discussion every 2 days and update it with the links to the associated necessary polls. Please check back frequently.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We need THOUGHTFUL, CLEAR and CONCISE suggestions for improvements to the unreleased final part of Bioware's Mass Effect trilogy. With any luck someone with some pull at Bioware/EA will take notice.
Please avoid submissions such as:
"Bring back/dont bring back (insert NPC name here)!!!!!!!!!"
Instead point out what you liked or didn't like about the said character intelligently so that the Devs can address your concern if they choose.
"The graphics, music, sounds should be better.."
Be specific! What needs to be improved graphically or auditorily and, more importantly, how?
"The story for mass effect 3 should include (insert your plot outline)."
This is not the place to discuss the story arc. Instead make a generalization of your approval/disapproval for aspects of the story so far. For example "In my humble opinion, the paying customer would be better satisfied by deeper NPC story arcs and fewer NPCs." would be suitable with some justification added for good measure.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please, Please, PLEASE do not add to this discussion unless you have something you believe is extremely valuable regarding the sequel's development.
I have included a sample poll as an example of the kind of questions that need to be asked.
Thanks people. Let's get this done.

for the first question
Nah, seriously you might want to open a thread dedicated to this. Near to no one will read through 26+ pages. Hopefully some Bioware Employee will, but definetely not the majority of forumites, thus only a few will actually come across this.
That way you'd hardly get enough response to speak on behalf of the community
In any case this poll is somewhat limited by only adressing a single point, which, in my opinion is not one of the most crucial. But that's not for me to judge

I'd love to see the homeworld of the Turians, and a chance to have a conversation with Garrus' father would be effing amazing. There's some real potential for hilarity with that scenario, given what we know of his father.
Female Aliens
I get that it's expensive and taxing to make multiple models for the same race, but the disturbing lack of women in the galaxy must be rectified. It's the last in the trilogy, go all out! Give us some female krogan, turians, batarians, drell, salarians, etc. This right here would make so many people happy, you don't even know.
LI Development/Continuation
Whether you stayed true to your ME1 honeys, or fell in love with someone new, you should be able to see your relationship evolve in the next game. I don't want Garrus to be a friends with benefits one night stand type thing. I don't want to hook up with Kaidan and just have everything all hunky-dorey right off the bat. More emotional investment.
ME2 Squadmates Return
Preferably for more than just cameo roles. I can see the departure of a few, but please keep, at the very least, Tali and Garrus around. Please.
More Customization
I love that you guys let us do this, but I'd like to see it taken a step further. Custom casual wear outfits, more additions to the N7 armor, etc.
Consequences
I want to see decisions made in ME1 and 2 coming back to bite me in the ass (or help me out greatly), depending on the outcomes. It was cool to see a few of the key decisions show up in ME2, but there weren't any real consequences either way.
More Gambling
I might be in the minority here, but I loved Quasar. Can we go back to Flux?
The Citadel
I don't want to be confined to one ward and one office this time. I want to explore a few different wards, and I want to see how the Presidium is doing. Also, an option to smack the Turian Councilor would be appreciated.
More Music
The music was pretty awesome in my quarters, but a larger selection of music would be nice.
Spectres
I'd love to meet a few Spectres, maybe even recruit one. It'd also be nice to see how they react regarding whether you took the title back or not.
Post-Game Dialogue
it was awesome that it was included at all, but can we expand on it a bit? Get a couple new conversations post-game?
More Origin Side-Quests
I loved that you had a different quest for each thing you chose for your history in ME1. However, it was barely made mention of in ME2, and I was upset to see that I had no option to lay into Cerberus for what they did to my unit on Akuze. Bring it back!
That's all I can think of right now.

A good example that touches on what I'm talking about is the new mining system. Everyone needs to do it to a certain extent to provide materials for upgrades, but for some players it is a whole other game to explore alongside the main one. I'm one of those player who loves methdocially scanning a world, feeling satisfied only when I've completely scoured it (including the several nodes you can find after the scanner reads it as depleted). If I've got an hour to kill of an evening I'll throw ME2 on an just spend it scanning and mining. I feel there's more than could be done with it, though. More anomalies to be found, more unusual features to explore, options for Mako-missions, ground-based exploration, ancient ruins, etc.
Beyond expanding the scanning/mining/exploration system I think there is an opportunity to add a completely new adjunct gameplay layer to it in the form of a resources trading a la the BBS-based Trade Wars games of the 1990s. Instead of simply harvesting resources they could be bought, traded and sold at various worlds and markets througout the galaxy as well as all manner of trade and cargo goods that exist solely to fuel this optional mini-game. A dedicated player could make a killing by creating and maintaining their own trade routes and monitoring the galactic commodity market, buying cheap in one market and selling dear in another.
Sure this isn't the kind of thing that will appeal to everyone, but that's the whole point. This is just one example of modular player-guided gaming that could deepen and expand the game for a lot of people providing additional dozens, or even hundreds, of potential additionl hours of value-added content.

This is my wish list for ME3:
- Dialogues
Dialogues are an important part of the game, the soul of the role.
Dragon Age, NWN2, Baldur's Gate are an example. Morrigan, Leliana, Alistair, Sten, Khelgar, Grobnar (He's fantastic) or characters like Torio, Anora, Aerle Eamon they make you understand that a game it's not only "take a mission and Kill every enemy".
Characters like the illusive man, Aria, Miranda, Jacob and above all Thane and Joker have got their good story, psychology but during a mission this magic disappears. For example, in Dragon Age you take a mission, you can speak with your squad members, you can ask advices to Leliana, Kiss Morrigan, listen conversations about a place, but in mass effect you can't find all this.
Mass Effect is a game, I know it, it's not a movie but I think that also a game, like a movie, can give emotions with his history, dialogues and romance.
- for me it's a good things, when you finish the suicide mission, that you can continue playing but the dialogue are always the same, the feeling is that the game is over now.
Mass effect 3 will be the final chapter but I hope however that once you will complete the final mission, this fantastic world doesn't stop
- I like the combat system and other things of mass effect 2, maybe in the third chapter, if it's possible, to insert more armor, weapons, also for the squad members .In mass effect 3 I prefer to keep this squad members and to have into squad team, characters like Wrex and Ash or Kaidan. I hope that Miranda, Thane, Garrus, Tali and Jacob doesn't disappear in me3

I like them all, even those I don't like
I completly agree. There were just to many charectors and I think it really effected the dialog. Unless they were romanced they all had very little to say besides mordin.

Also, maybe this could still be instituted into ME2 but I wouldn't mind more conversation options once you are finished the game, or more conversations once you hae romanced someone. I don't want to go back and have the exact same conversation I had with someone before we had our romantic encounter or just finished they game (Example, once I finish the game, I want a reaction from the citadel).
I also really liked the few instances where npcs were fighting each other. More instances of that in ME3 would add more depth, especially if choice came in to determine who you help...
alot of people have already commented on this, but the mineral scanning can get a little tedious.
Lastly, I want to see female turians, salarians, volus (not in a sexual way but in a general way, all their characters seem male, they don't have to look much different, just female voices or something) I sick of only seeing female humans, quarians and the asexual asari. Alsohaving children runing around getting into trouble would be a good to add depth to places you go.
ME2 however was a spectacular game keep up the good work.

Instead of completely removing inventory and item sales, allow us to select multiple items at once to omni-gel or sell. Streamline out the number of more useless items as we rank up to reduce inventory if you like, but don't remove it. This not only limits our thrill of "then next great item" but also our ability to mod the item for the situation, during the situation.
Banish planet scanning from existence. Forever. Then eject thermal clips right after it.
Return romance dialogue options to "interested", "Neutral or Involved" and "Not Interested" instead of "I want to screw you" and "I want to screw all of you". Only being able to tell a respected, long term friend like Tali "I only want you" or "I don't want to be exclusive" instead of adding a neutral "I care for your Tali, but not in 'that' way" was immature and did not allow me to be "my Shep". I mean Miranda did say if Shep is anyone but who he was before, the Lazarus Project would have failed. So let us be who we are and not who you want us to be.

Seconded. Hell, I'd like to take it even further with dialogue options based on your other romantic interests.
I was romancing Miranda at the start of the game, but once I picked up Jack and did her loyalty mission I find her much more interesting and it is she whom I want Shepard to romance. It irks me that the only options are tell Miranda to hit the bricks or that I'm hers forever. I'd like to be able to have Shepard break it to her gently, to let her know that he has feelings for her but that he has a special connection to Jack yada yada yada.

Dear Bioware
I don't think it was wise of you to clearly state in the Codex of Mass Effect 1 that there is endless ammunition in guns using mass accelerated metal fragments as ammunition then alter the combat system in Mass Effect 2 with these so-called "thermal clips" which are basically ammunition and need to be reloaded once they are empty.
I understand you wanted to avoid weapon overheating, but it should have been working like this:
One can fire at will until his/hers thermal clips last, but in case one runs out of them, the weapons should work as in Mass Effect 1, because there are no more thermal clips to prevent overheating. Overheating should not cause permanent malfunction just a short break in combat.
At first I thought eliminating the inventory from the game, reducing the skill system and reducing (or removing completely?) the XP for enemies wasn't a good idea either. After finishing the game I'm not sure about that.
However restriction of armor (including helmet) and weapon changing to certain places is not a good idea in my opinion. If I want to see my character's face during conversations I cannot use the helmet in missions.
Liara was my favourite character in Mass Effect 1. She's sweet, clever and her voice sounds goood. I hope she will be available for the mission in Mass Effect 3. Her hunt for the Shadow Broker could wait for a few days, I think.
I missed the opportunity to replace Samara with Morinth although Morinth said she is as powerful as her mother and she would serve Shepard. Could have been a serious renegade choice.
After the suicide mission the surviving team members told me their opinion about destroying the Collector base. After that they seemed to forget what happened and they switched back to their normal dialogs from before the suicide mission. (i.e. Miranda asked if Shepard is still interested in her, etc.
Was it absolutely neccessary to pack all team members (at least 10 person, including a big krogan) to a little shuttle (capacity: approximately 4 person) at a certain point in the game? That was a pointless tactical fault from Shepard and the Collectors kidnapped the whole crew. I was so sad when they turned Yeoman Chambers to fluid. (Of course that was your goal.)
So Mass Effect 2 is a fantastic game, but it could have been better.
By the way will there be 3D space combat simulation in Mass Effect 3?
There was an interesting feature in a great strategy game called Dune 2. The player's mentat (advisor) followed the mouse with his eyes and blinked if we clicked on his face. I would like to see this feature implemented in the game so I could play with my character's eyes on the statistics page.

- More, in-depth PC to NPC *and* NPC to NPC dialogues / conversations. Imo both ME1 and ME2 fell a little short on that.
- Choices from ME1 & ME2 should have a *tangible* impact on ME3. While I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of choices that carried over from ME1 to ME2, I found it disappointing that almost all of them came down to simple changes in/ new dialogues...would have been nice if they would have had an actual impact on your quests (or even add new quests) in ME2.
- A more frequent use of the interrupt system. I actually thought it was a great addition to ME2.
- Perhaps more quests that don't simply end in "shot stuff up". Imo ME2 was a tad bit too action centric (though I guess that was what you guys were going for).
- A satisfying (in terms of content quantity) continuation of your ME1 and ME2 romances. If you should decide to -again- dump almost all of your old crewmembers, at least give our old romances more screentime in ME3 as you did with the ME1 LIs in ME2.

2. I would like to be able to respond to messages, perhaps with renagade/ paragon responses.
3. No more than maybe 2 new squade mates
4. Some sort of reward for playing the same character from 1 to 3
5. Ok if we still have to mine for resources, how about being able to sell or trade for cash or vice versa?
6.The main theme of the third installment should be concequences of what Shepard did in the other games.
7. Going back with games economy. I think it would be cool to be able to purchase items on your ship via your computer or atleast be able to know what a store has. The first game drove me nuts with stores' random inventory system.
8. Having a fireing range to test out your weapons before you go out to fight would be cool. I would like know how weapons work before i take them into battle

Give us levels that make us feel like we've accomplished something! (VERY IMPORTANT!)
What's the point in leveling up a character when you don't unlock
something for getting there, or have a harder time fighting something as
you level up. Let me give you an example. This game levels you up very
well but you have no challenges. Enemies seem to stay at an incredibly
balanced difficulty throughout the game. It'd be nice to have enemies
outside of your level that are too difficult to kill, or much harder.
Another thing would be level requirements for certain ship upgrades,
guns, ammo, armor, etc. Give us the illusion that the higher the level
we are, the stronger we are! IMHO there was no
sense of this in ME2, and half the upgrades we got we never noticed.
I disagree ..... IMO only soldier had this problem. Adept on hardcore or above doesn't have this issue. Some enemies are easy some very difficult.
Bring back the Inventory (upgradeable sizing)
Theres always a good feeling knowing what's in your backpack. RPG gamers love looting! It's always exciting to pick up something that may, or may not be better than what you currently own. Another aspect of that great RPG feel could be to upgrade our bag size. Looting objects and selling them at different markets would be great. For instance selling something at OMEGA could be more valuable than at the Citadel.
Again I disgree ....... ME isn't about collecting, its about using what you have effectively. RPG is about choice not collecting. In ME2 you are a member of Cerebus and have money coming out your wazoo.
Upgradeable weapons/armor (The NEW fasioned way)
I don't really like the new weapon upgrades as much as the first ME. I think that for ME3 something completely different would be great for everybody who enjoys this game. Give us content! Perhaps a new sniper rifle barrel, or a different scope/zoom distance. Magazine size/Ammo size. ETC. Something that really can make our weapons UNIQUE! Everyone can have the highest upgrade, but with this method of customization there's many more ways to enjoy killing the reapers!
Again I disgree .... weapons upgrades are fine. Better to focus on using what you have effectively. In RPG style improvement would be having to do something more than pick it up to get an upgrade. A simple example would be to identify an alien ruin, explore it, and actually have to figure something out to get the upgrade. This is way above the RPG capability of devs currently
Where did the vehicle go!? Please. . . Give it back!!
I loved the driving aspect of the game. It really gave you a sense of how large the game was. It mad me feel cramped having to walk around everywhere. I'm not exactly sure why, but for some reason whenever I got into the vehicle the game just felt that much bigger to me. I loved it. It may not have driven the best, but it sure was a great part to the game. I heard of talk about them creating a vehicle, but I've completed the game, and explored every planet with no success of driving one, nor did I see a place where one could be used.
I agree, give us a vehicle AND interesting planets and quests to use it on. Both or nothing.
Please, Make the citadel larger.
This one is crucial to me, but I'm not sure how this strikes other gamers. I really enjoyed the citadel in ME1, not soo much in ME2 though. It seemed a lot smaller and the fact that it was just a bunch of levels on top of each other wasn't much for me. I really enjoyed being in the Citadel in ME1 and loved to explore the life in it. The Citadel in ME2 seems lifeless, just a bunch of shops and levels. I guess it's hit or miss on this one with the community, but I though I'd point it out.
Agreed, but only if it is well fleshed out and has something plot related to do
While doing missions, make them less linear.
Hard to get lost during a mission, it always felt like a hallway leading with doors to the objective. DON'T get me wrong, I don't feel as if the game is linear, but 80% of the mission are. There's usually only one way to go, one way to complete it, and one way in/out. Open it up! we want to explore!
Agreed but this is above the level that Bioware can deliver with current technology and voice acting. ME2 is about the least linear we can expect in the current gaming climate. Simple put Bioware would rather make one game and charge 60$ than make 5 games and charge 70$. Non-lenear means that you need to make 5 games in one.
Keep the Normandy just as exploreable/vehicle
Another big one for me. I think it'd be great to have the normandy land on a planet, walk down to the cargo hold, get into a vehicle, and drive it out onto the unexplored planet. Something tiny, but it's this attention to detail that really makes a game shine!
I think the devs time would be better spent elsewhere.
More Normandy fights!
In ME2 we don't really use the upgrades for anything at all. We spend thousands and thousands on mats upgrading our ship. . . and for what? A quick dodge at the end of the game? I wanted to really see how the upgrades worked, all I seen was it go through some debree. Some dogfighting would be great.
If you were watching just about every upgrade had some purpose. They didn't change the course of the game though.
Give us Earth! If ME3 really is the end of the trilogy (better not be!) than at least let us explore our homeplanet. Have the reapers invade it or something. I duno, just bring earth into the picture. I want to see it in the future.
Noooooooooooooooooo .......... too risky
Keep this as the best game I've ever played, just put some more RPG elements into it!
If Bioware wants to go more RPG give us more choice and more impact. More dialog options and more outcomes.

Bring back how the elcor talked in ME1. I didn't like how they sounded in ME2 in the slightest.
Give the squad members more talents. The best of the best in the galaxy, whose abilities are legendary...have only two powers? I know that it's not how big the stick is, it's how you use it, but come on.

also it'd be nice if certain items (such as ammo clips) showed up as tiny blips on your radar, it's kind of annoying having to waddle around looking for every clip.
or better yet, an entirely new ammo system for combat would be even better, and create a fun little "trend" for the trilogy to make each game feel unique. (Same for planetary exploration and scanning. make the third game be something completely different)
One thing I'm really interested in is if the 10 or so guys from 2 will show up in 3. Also it'd be nice if liara and kaiden/ashley grabbed their pistols up again. (although really who cares about kaiden m i rite?)
it'd also be cool if you could organize your non active party members into other squads that you could give broad commands to from afar, almost in an rts sort of manner. depending on how you set up thier party will alter how quickly they progress. (Obviously the idea that non player party members could "**** up and die" would be a horrible situation) so rather it'd be better that it's more like....how quickly they complete thier objectives, perhapes having those objectives effect your path.
for example like....some place is attacked by batarian terrorists, you have two secondary objectives that effect your mission, rescue the hostages and destroy the power generator (to make your mission easier). if you pick the right team let's say...send tali, grunt, and jack after the power generator and it can be knocked out quicker because of the skills of that specific group would combine well for said mission, destroying whatever eletrical defenses are in the base to make your job easier. then let's say a really good rescue team that you can put together could be....garrus, thane, and mordin, so the hostages could be busted out, thier wounds tended to and could be quickly rescued, giving you the upper hand when you confront the terrorist. something like this could really give missions a grander scale without taking the focus off of your active squad.

Dont have human machinery, crates, objects and human writing on world humans are not meant to have touched or have been in contact with humans.
Have alien architecture alien designs and objects on more than just the enemy ship's/world and the odd wall marking there are manyaliens in this universe but oddly they have no material culture of their own.
Hire a fashion designer! This is a galaxy with billions or trillions of people and apparently they are dressed by one fashion house that puts out 4 or five designs for men and women that stay in fashion for years. They must be the richest corp in existence
Allow exploration :
ON the galaxy map allow us to go through uncharted/ unactivated mass relays. If that is incompatible with the story allow us to explore already open clusters and star systems. Flying to already known ones is ok but finding new ones would be better imho.
