Mass Effect 3 Wishlist

Mass Effect 1 and 2 were both really great games, but I vastly preferred the sequel to ME1. The inventory system was tedious and is a relic of older RPG games. In ME1 we're an Alliance Special Forces soldier and we start off with the worst possible items you can have. It just doesn't make sense. Looting garbage bins for high-quality items and credits is not something that adds positively to the game, it's a ridiculous tedium that BioWare rightly took out of the sequel. Cerberus funding and occasionally salvaging scrap/upgrade plans is much better and actually makes sense. The Council and the Alliance wanted us to hunt down Saren and his Geth, but wouldn't even contribute any resources?
The Mako was cool, to be sure, but it didn't amount to much more than a novelty after the first few uses, and by the time you were nearing the end of the game it was a downright annoyance driving it around bleak, mountainous (couldn't we have driven around a nice plain once in a while?) planets that had no vegetation. BioWare again made the right call in removing it (it would be a guilty pleasure to have some minimal use of it in the third installment, just a scripted vehicular-based land confrontation, but nothing more than a guilty pleasure). The on-planet side-quests were much better in ME2 than the pre-fabricated outposts you found scattered all over ME1.
I think what I'm trying to say is that I trust BioWare. I think they've made an excellent game in ME1 and given us a superb story, and they've only improved upon it with ME2. I'm sure, left to their own devices, they will polish ME3 and give us a perfect finale to the Mass Effect series.
Oh, but get rid of that resource scanning nonsense.

So, who thinks we need to make a new thread with all of the mainly agreed upon points in the first post? This thread is getting to large and I think everyone here wants BW to actually read it.
Sounds great. Put a link to the new thread?

+1, ME2 controls are terrible, even ME1 was better

1)I would like a return to the ability to use multiple powers in a row meaning that each power has its own cooldown timer and not a combined "All Special Abilities" timer.
2)A heat indicator for the guns instead of the lame ammo counter.(they can keep the eject-able heatsinks I just want a heat indicator that will cool off when you are not shooting your gun.) This game is in the 23rd century. Are you telling me that they have not developed a weapon that can fire more then thirty or fourty times before needing to be reloaded? Even modern guns can equip ammo barrels that contain hundreds of rounds.
3)Your teammates should have more then three special abilities. These guys are the elite of the elite and they can only use three special powers at a time?

Show some Protheans.
AGREE! I can't believe I've flown around the galaxy twice and have never seen a female Turian, Krogan, Salarian, Volus, Elcor, whatever. No wonder Asari are mating with everyone: none of the other races seem to have females of their own!
Krogan "fertile females" are constantly being referred to, and I was even teased on Tuchanka with a dead one under a blanket! And sure, they like excuses like, "Salarian females rarely travel off-world blah blah blah" There are also like 300,000 Drell in the whole damn galaxy and I know three. I realize that they reuse 5 character models for every single race, but c'mon; for the amount of detail put into the rest of the game you'd think they could afford the programmer and the space to make a fat stubby human, a maskless quarian, an out-of-suit volus. Let's see what Garrus' sparring partner looks like!
And I totally want to see some more Protheans. The modern iteration of them is quite a divergence from the statues we saw on Ilos. Fix Vigil's damn interface display.
Actually, you can see a female elcor in one of the Hamlet ads on the Citadel. Looks identical to the males, but with a higher-pitched voice.

In fable kids are not essential to the story npcs may have one or two rescue missions for their children your children say hi mom or hi dad and want to play occasionally they run away or get kidnapped but they add realism to the game make it a world having different men and woman also add to the credibility of the world and even if you talk to zero npcs you still know and feel like you're in a world and making a difference for the world.

All the squad members from both games be availible for use or atleast Tali and Garrus
and maybe a collector for a squad member
To have 3 squad members at once instead of two (use the 360 D-pad to command squad members Left, up and right to order them around.. down to return to your location) not to sure about pc controls
Can't remember her name but i want to punch that reporter again in ME3
At nightclubs your whole squad can dance on the dance floor (which would be perfect for legion's robot dance) and if you have your romanced partner with you u can dance with them... (shepard shuffle feat Tali anyone)
also i would like to be able to get other squad members to get drunk too
And most importantly give Tali a homeworld!

- Better story, better villains and better pacing
- Less filler with all the character recruiting and loyalty and such
- Better RPG elements, they barely exist in ME2
- Exploration, but improve it a lot from ME1
- Get rid of the Hollywood-esque music and make it more like ME1's sci-fi music
- Make loyalty mean something, make it more than just a binary number
- Tali and Garrus should be squadmates. Some other should come back, not all but I want Garrus and Tali at the very least
- Make the characters interact with each other more
That will be all. Peace out.

Definatly an Asari squad member would be ideal seeing as i find them amazing. Plus the amount of detail that was put in the Aria and Samaras facial expressions and skin texture were visually great.
More armor custamisations, and the squad biotic and tech powers from Me1. I really liked how many options i had to choose from when leveling up my shepard + squad from ME1.

I'm pretty sure the squadmate recruiting and loyalty missions of ME2 were in no way meant to be filler but very much part of ME2's narrative with consequences for ME3.
I mean, would you qualify the alliance forging journeys of Dragon Age Origins filler?

I'd like to see tougher choises in ME3. Not like fable 3 where all the interviews said you had to make a "tough" choice at the begining of the game. tbh i actually lol'd when i played it.

Heh. That choice WAS funny.
I'd like to see more individual characterization in missions. Something unique to the individual characters. This would probably not be simple, but what made the loyalty missions stand out was not just the personal connection to the characters but also the character's reaction to events around them, something you didn't see often in other missions in ME1 or 2. I'd give examples, but that would constitute rather heavy spoilers.
Basically: give the characters more of their own unqiue dialogues. Something the other characters don't or can't say.

Have the Reapers do a pincer move targeting the Citadel with half their fleet and Earth with the other half. Then make it like ME2's last mission where you choose which people go where, except in this case it's fleets of different species( or whatever new weapon you use to fight them in your plan) and you order them to go fight in different instances. But have it be VERY grave repercussions. Like, for example, the Reapers are tearing up Earth. Do you really send the Turians or Krogan to go help Humanity? Turians, by the way, would be bad because they are still suspicious from the first contact war and Krogan, lets face it, they won't save a single human they'll just fight the Reapers for kicks. Then, because you were an idiot, The REAPERS tear apart 11 billion humans because you didn't send the Alliance to help Earth. And it needs to end on EDEN PRIME. That is a necessity. It all started there it needs to end there.
Game play request: Okay, ME2's combat system was amazing. I love the Gears of War style cover and movement but I DON'T like how you don't have infinite ammo. I liked the old ME1 ammo system better but you should keep Heavy weapons on Ammo otherwise I'll just spam my infinite Cain at the reapers. Give me a sprint ability that either lasts longer than a fat guy's jog or is a decent speed. ME1 did this nicely. ME2 the sprint lasted the same amount of time with 1/4 the speed. Fix this.
Collecting: Keep the new system of bypassing stuff and hacking. Before, in ME1, you punished me for not having Tali and Kaidan in my group 24/7. Now, I can collect everything I can find. I like that. Make more variables for that though, like some added tricks to trip me up occasionally. But for the most part, nice improvement.
Missions: I agree with the person who made this thread. There should be multiple paths to choose to complete a level. The last level in ME2, you scratched the surface of this with customizing how to pick squad mates and outcomes, but you didn't make multiple paths to pick to get through the mission.
Dialogue: I like the way you took out charm/intimidate and replaced it with the new point-solely based method. I also LOVE the interruptions. One thing in both Mass Effects I noticed was that squad-based dialogue was a little generic. Like if Miranda talked at all during the missions, it was just a Miranda-version of what Jacob would say. It should be more personal. Drag out squadmates' emotions. And when you actually talk to a squadmate, you got five lines and maybe two more if they are your LI. Give me more. Stretch out what they have to say. Don't just do a post mission synopsis of what they think. Allow me to communicate with them and hear this dialogue whenever I want. Not just their cheezy banter.
Inventory: I liked how you decreased the Huge amount of weapons/armor you could have. 3 types of armor per species, four weapons, spectre gear... blah blah blah. Okay, you did the right thing but know it is not enough variables in the customization. You need to hit that middle ground where you have 5-7 models of each weapon. Not 3, (ME2) not 15(ME1).
Concept: Last time it was a perfect protagonist(Shepherd) vs. antagonist(Saren). Now it's an undefinable enemy. I mean, we know it's the Reapers, but before we felt the feelings of the other side. Now, it dosen't feel as much as an RPG. I do know the second addition is always the weakest part in most stories, but that still means that you can deliver an epic story since you didn't lose sight(for the most part) on the ME2 story.
Enemies: Both Mass Effects did virtually the same things with enemies. Like 5 factions and like 4 different types of them. Example: Rachni Warrior, Rachni Worker, Rachni Brood Warrior, Rachni Queen. Blood Pack Trooper, Blood Pack Pyro, Blood Pack Heavy, Blood Back Boom Squad. This is a fancy way of saying,"We're not creative so we changed some letters and gave them new guns." Give them diversity! I want them to have some differences besides weaponry. Change their health, how fast they move, their looks, their fighting tactics, etc. For example, every Krogan charges me with a shotgun. Change their name and they do the exact same thing. Do like a free for all huge battle, like in Mordin's mission where the Blue Suns and Blood Pack are fighting in the streets and you have to momentarily take a side.
Allies: This is a biggie. All allies do the exact same thing. They run right next to you and switch weapons when appropriate. Good start as this is a necessity, but have Jack use her powers without me telling her to at least more than once every 10 minutes. I don't want to babysit the AI. Make them more independent. But the real issue is they all have the same uniform styles of fighting, with the exception of Grunt, who goes into a blood rage. Have them all have a signature style. Each one has a unique way of fighting, different from the others.
