Searching 300 pages is a bit much, so i'll just add my nags:

- Bring back proper female animations. They were in ME1, why not ME2? Don't skimp on ME3!

- Togglable helmets during gameplay. Again, they were in ME1, why not ME2?

- Proper spacesuits for companions. Seeing characters like Miranda or Jack in space missions is more hilarious than immersive, something that should never have happened in the first place. Let all characters wear proper armor during missions like in ME1, at least in space.

- I hope that choices made in previous games make an actual impact this time around, rather than just being background noise. I'm talking about an impact during gameplay aswell as story, something ME2 kinda screwed up on both counts. I don't want to see my choices during ME1 and 2 being boiled down to just an alternate ending cinematic!

Give us Earth! If ME3 really is the end of the trilogy (better not be!) than at least let us explore our homeplanet. Have the reapers invade it or something. I duno, just bring earth into the picture. I want to see it in the future.

It's working!

My requests:

Use the PC's strengths. Because of limited data storage of Xbox 360 discs, Mass Effect 2's dossier missions were not all available at once. The PC was also affected even though it shouldn't have been. Also, the blurry textures on the Xbox 360 were necessary because of hardware limitations. It is, after all, a five year old console. PC gamers buy new hardware all the time so there should at least be an option to get high quality textures. Also, the prerendered cutscenes using in-game graphics (like in the opening scenes of ME2) were only 720p. This should be higher on PC. Look at how horribly these cutscenes in Kotor aged. And as I say over and over again, Mass Effect 2 didn't have menu shortcuts, double click functionality or even scrolling through text using the mouse wheel. Overall: Mass Effect 2 on PC did not get the respect it deserved and it felt like I was playing on an emulator.

Well, since I wrote this on a new thread, but it got locked down and it was suggested I write it here, Im copying this:

I shall write this with a few very important premises, firstly, I really love ME and what the team at Bioware has done to give us a truly unique game in so many ways. Secondly, I know that Bioware will take their own design direction regardless of what I personally want, but since I know they listen to their fans I wanted to write this. Lastly, this is a list intended to describe some (relatively) minor changes that I would believe Bioware would please their fans 1000x more with if they chose to follow them through.

Realistically speaking, I like anyone who loves ME will play the game no matter what, but I believe that this short list of issues should be addressed if they want ME3 to be the game it can be.

-My BIGGEST point: Give us some REAL planet exploration like what we had in ME1 with the Mako

-Not being able to toggle helmets in-game (so drinks and kisses go to your mouth instead of your visor)

-Being able to customize colors and patterns on dlc armors

-Give us helmets that arent just round pieces of ****, seriously, not a single jagged straight looking helmet in ME2

-Give
us some love scenes like in ME1 where they actually looked good, not
just some random hugging and then fade to black, if I want that Ill go
play Fable. And before you call me immature or dismiss me like you tried to do with your previous media statements, deep down you know as well as I do that I'm not talking about partial or full frontal nudity, if you had the ME1 love scene and everyone was fully clothed, it would STILL be better than ANYTHING that is considered a "love" scene in ME2. Basically, bring back the INTIMACY and the visual/graphical QUALITY of the love scenes that was in ME1.

-Ability to customize the default Shepard face

-Bring
back heat based weapons or give us WAAY larger amount of clips, as
using your favorite type of gun in a mission is impossible cuz you run
out of ammo way too quick

-Let us actually have areas to explore
not just one room wonders like the Citadel how we couldnt go anywhere we
could in the first game (not to mention Omega is basically a big box
with two places to go)

- Fewer squad mates, I mean seriously, the
entire second game was us trapsing around the galaxy to recruit people,
only to then say 3 things to them cuz thats all they said due to
limited resources

-(related to prior point) If you give us DLC characters, we better be able to talk to them and not just listen to their stories like Zaeed and Kasumi, like I said fewer with more interaction is better.

-
give us more cursing, as its completely unrealistic that an
intergalactic battle hardened warrior NEVER says a SINGLE bad word even
when team mates are getting powned or reapers are knocking on the front
door

- REAL renegade choices, give us the chance to be truly renegade, instead of until now just being able to be a jerk. (the only renegade choice I felt was a REAL renegade choice was when in that side mission you can decide to disarm the missiles that go to that base or the colony, but only one location survives)

But most of all, yeah bring back planet exploration and get rid of that crappy as hell hammerhead and planet scanning. IT WAS HORRIBLE, AND YOU KNOW IT.

I
want to be able to see space and its planets like in ME1, where we got
amazing AMAZING vistas that I still remember like as if I myself had
gone into outer space. I like so many others, would land on those planets and just stare and stare and stare at the sky, or even better in the main missions when we got Mako segments it was INCREDIBLE, I mean, who among us here will EVER forget trekking on Therum with the lava pools and the blue giant star in the background behind those hills? NO BODY thats who! Please Bioware, I bought the Steam CE of ME2, the box CE for 360 and another Box CE for a friend as a bday gift, not to mention all the DLC for my 360 version and my friends version as a Xmas gift. My point is, Im a true fan, and people like me who REALLY miss all that good AMAZING space exploration are dying hoping and wishing you bring it back.

Just consider two things: you should never play the first game in a trilogy and find yourself saying "wow this is sooo much better than in the second game" which is what happens with ME1 and the Mako when you compare it to planet scanning or the Hammerhead. And secondly, in ME1 even with all the downsides to the exploration, like copy paste buildings low textures sometimes etc. it was STILL AMAZINGLY EPIC. I know I'm not the only one who was filled with wonder and anticipation for ME2 because I was thinking what you would do with exploration, so can you imagine the amount of love and appreciation ME3 would get if you made exploration what it REALLY could be. I mean, cmon... don't you miss fighting thresher maws?

Just please Bioware, give us real planet exploring back for God's sake.

Also: I almost forgot, give our team mates some sort of sealed space suit with a helmet for space / hazardous environments, you can try and sci fi explain it away, but even IF you could (cuz you cant) it still looks F***ing ridiculous.

yeah they most likely are, but thats not such a big deal seeing as how a few simple changes to the ini file can either make the mag capacity whatever you like, or give you infinite mags, effectively making the guns heat based in a way. The real issue I believe is the lack of space exploration and the inclusion of the vehicle like in ME1 in main missions, that gave it a real boost in excitement and variety, and the other things are small but also important

I honestly hope that the Rachni come back to bite us in the arse! This would mostly be applicable if you killed the queen on Noveria. Why? There is a set of quests that opens up in ME1 after you complete Noveria. These quests are:

UNC: Listening Post AlphaUNC: Listening Post ThetaUNC: Depot Sigma-23

Listening Post Alpha is the Starship Troopers mission. After you fight off the wave you go eliminate the Rachni base. Theta is just an old base overrun by Rachni, and The depot is shipping Rachni all over the galaxy. When your driving on the planets for Alpha and Theta, Rachni pop out of the ground all over so I believe that the Rachni are surviving pretty well.

I ignored these mission on purpose! The queen is dead on mine but the Rachni are set up quite well on 2 planets, possibly more with the depot shipping more Rachni out. Can they team up with the reapers please?

BioWare probably stopped reading this thread 295 pages ago but just thought I could toss an idea out there.

Hey why isn't this a sticky anymore!!!!!???

I unstickied it. I didn't do it at BioWare's request either, so please don't take the unsticky as indicative of BioWare's intent. I did it because Mass Effect 3 has been announced. People are discussing their theories all over the place, I don't believe I can continue redirecting them to this thread anymore. However, the thread isn't locked. You can still use it.

But this thread isn't a theory thread, it's a wishlist for mass effect 3 and most of the things on here are basically what the majority wants, as to what all the replies are saying and the success of this thread.  I didn't think Bioware would unsticky it, seeing as they too are listening in on this thread.

Im sure you had reasons to, but this thread is very seperate from the other theory threads, besides the fact their all on about the 3rd game.  I still think this thread would be an importance because it definitely shows what features we want.

EDIT:  Eh, the thread isn't closed at least, I'll have faith in Bioware, as long as the important features, such as more rpg aspects, inventory, upgrades, vehicle, planet exploration, and normandy are being addressed, then I'll be fine.  I hope so, its Ea that im worried about, actually...  They tend to not care about half-assed games, and just push them right out the door not caring.

That's actually what the cnc dev who left actually complained about, you know.

I have one request. It isn't gameplay-specific, but I would REALLY like to be able to toss the "ah yes, reapers" line right back at the Turian councilor, or at least something to that effect.

So I'm playing DAO (a lot less thrilling given the ME bug that's infected me but since I memorized every bit of ME2 I need a change of pace). Anyway a good bit of music that works well with DAO (instead of the stock background) is Two Steps From Hell's Invincible album (Heart of Courage, the song in ME2's launch trailer, is actually from that).

As I'm listening I come across one song that I never paid much mind to but in light of the recent ME3 trailer I think it'd be terrific in a scene where you really are thinking: "Damn you Bioware, this is it - this is really how it ends. Shepard is going to sacrifice himself to stop the Reapers." And I mean they really have you believing it 110%. Anyway this is the song, To Glory, that made me hope we get a moment like that.

Edit: Also AMV with clips of the three games would fit well with this.

I'd like to see:

Mass Effect like exploration with the Hammerhead - Make the hammerhead more durable, put a healthbar on the screen, make it so you can enter and exit the vehicle along with better designed levels would be awesome.

Needs more RPG - More depth to character customisation, more guns and customisable N7 armour bits, and more options for skills and abilities. A larger variety of enemies would be nice too.

Less recruiting and no more loyalty missions - Been there, done that. No time for daddy issues, there's a galaxy to save.

Improved Armour textures - On the PC the low res armour / clothing textures really stood out during cutscenes. This will probably stay the same for ME3, but it would be nice to see them at a higher res.

Finally, I'd like to have an option to put a bullet into the head of Jack and Grunt please, or at least throw them out of an airlock.

Almost forgot to add this.

Do not introduce new factions, races or squadmates.

Use what you have right now to develop it untill the end instead of forcing yet more new stuff down the players' throats. You don't want to spend yet another game introducing the player to new things and neglect the old - Make the player feel smart in knowing things from previous games. Reward them for having played it with something else than stats.

Want to know why? One word:

Ewoks.

We need more exploration and a sense of epicness; more RPG elements and customisation; less team mates but more interaction. These are the aspects that really let ME2 down, which is a shame because generally the gameplay was terrific. Oh, and the plot was abysmal compared to ME1, I do hope the next one is better written.

I agree with everyone who said:

1. Companion Armor. While we all apreciate fan service, I'd rather my squaddies keep it practical with their choice of battle wear.

2. I love the cinematic quality of the mass effect games, but I find it lacking in the combat, specifically the melee combat. I don't feel very Bad**** running up to a badguy and repeatedly elbowing him in the face. Cinematic hand-to-hand combat as seen in Uncharted, would be amazing, especially with stealth kills.

3. Tis but a small thing, but: I'd greatly appreciate it if Shep held the SMG like an SMG, and not like a handgun.

4. More customization. More armor componants, more colors, specific coloring of armor componants, more designs, paintable guns. Also some of that for squadmates too.

5. More exploration, with refined vehicular combat.

6. Deeper sidequests. I loved the loyalty missions, but the other sidequests were too straight forward and linear, some felt boring, on subsequent playthroughs.

And lastly:
I'd just  like to say thank you, to the Studio of the year.

In renegade interrupts, have class specific scenes.

ie, if I am an adept, use biotics to knock a fool around, if I am an engineer, use some tech powers, if I am a soldier, maybe throw a punch or a grenade, etc.

pretty simple request I have had since ME1

Same as most of the others; Deeper RPG elements, more exploration and not so linear side-missions, armor for squad mates, more interaction with said squad mates, more weapons and pieces of armor (I'm not asking for a return to the inventory of Mass Effect 1 rather just more weapons for the armory), class specific interrupts, and the ability for the Normandy to fight more. In Mass Effect 2, I spent a lot of time and resources to upgrade my ship and while being able to survive was you know great, I couldn't help but feel like it was a missed opportunity. The Normandy should have had several more fight scenes where the player could have had some control. Having there be some visual differences would also be cool. Some other small things would be an end to the loading screen (I found it to be very out of place), more squad banter, bigger hub's that reward the player for exploration. This is just a tiny thing but every time you leave the a planet and head back to the Normandy it automatically assumes you leave the planet. Then you have to go through the same cut scene and Idk I found it annoying. Maybe if you just walk into the Normandy it stays on that planet till you choose an new one a la Mass Effect 1. Those are just some idea's loved Mass Effect 2 and cannot wait till Mass Effect 3, I know it will blow my friggin mind!

Stats:

• Bring back stat control that governs player’s individual weapons. IE: Sniper rifles, shotguns, pistols and submachine gun damage and reload speed.

• Bring back Charm and Dick stat control. Combined with the ME2 system, a player will be able be the character they want more effectively and quickly.

• Weapon stats in the load out screen that show rate of fire, damage and ammo capacity.

Mods:

• Keep the “God Modding” system for weapons, armor, tech/biotics and Paragon/Renegade level from ME2

• Bring back weapon and armor mods. These could be scanned from downed enemies and rebuilt onboard the Normandy or bought from vendors throughout the galaxy.

• Weapon and armor mods need to have limited slots. 3 for weapons, 2 for armor. This allows the player to individually customize their character and squad according to how they want to play.

• No inventory. All items, upgrades, weapons, omni tools are to be scanned and equipped aboard the Normandy unless the player “swaps” on the spot.

• Ammo types should be reclassified as mods and available on the power wheel with the exception of Warp Ammo unless the character is a Biotic.

Powers:

• Tech and Biotic powers shouldn’t share the same cool down period.

• Allow for 3 powers to be chained. IE: Singularity + Warp + Throw= Biotic Nova.

• Allow Tech powers to be chained or to have a greater AoE. IE: Overload + Body of water= Big Zap.

Gameplay:

• Keep the combat from ME2. More animations, some further refinement to squad AI. No blindfire. Squadmates should behave more like their roles. IE: Snipers hang back, tanks press forward.

• More exploration ala Overlord. Less platforming and no strange wobble parcel pick up. Allow the squad to exit the Hammerhead.

• Hammerhead needs a HUD, shields, an upgrade system similar to the Normandy’s in ME2. Missiles should be lock-on and fired in a salvo as opposed to pew, pew. An additional heavy machine gun should be added also. These could all be upgrades that are either purchased or researched. Hammerhead should be used for fast and hard strike missions.

• Bring back the Mako for heavy assault missions. Fix the handling, fix the hover, fix the repair function and increase the cannon’s rate of fire.

• No multiplayer. If it must be; then co-op or something similar to Demon Souls. No online deathmatch or its many iterations.

• Planet scanning needs to be simplified. One click on the planet and all minerals and resources are harvested. The scanner crosshair should be kept for pinpointing signals/beacons etc.

• Load screens should be replaced where applicable by elevators and decontamination (don’t need the elevator inside the Normandy). Squad banter ala Dragon Age should added in these spots and throughout the game.

• Ditch the Mission Complete screen.

• Squad and crew interaction.IE: Thane, Garrus and Zaeed talking headshots in the mess. Legion and EDI playing chess. Miranda and Jack settling their differences in the shower. Tali, Ken and Gaby working on the engines.

Squad:

• Casual outfits and combat outfits. Each should be unique and have benefits specific to that character. Attention should be paid to areas regarding breath masks, helmets, visors and total coverage where applicable. IE: No exposed skin or eyes on a world with a chlorine atmosphere or a sterile environment like the Flotilla.

Story:

• ME1’s style of story driven narrative with ME2’s character driven style tucked inside.

• Reveal some of the mysteries posed in the previous games. IE: Players can visit Junthor or Armeni and see the ruins/ graves of extinct species, let’s see the Leviathan of Dis or who the hell is Armistan Banes?

• Don’t let us kill the Reapers with a virus.

• Please don’t make humans the chosen ones or the descendents of some long lost race.

• Turian. Councilor. Needs. A. Punch. In. The. Face.

• More like LotSB.

Misc:

• Environmental hazards need to return from ME1. Temperature or toxicity, things like that. Rain, snow or sand storms from ME2.

• Night time missions or missions that are in near or total darkness. Flashlight style mission(s) like Alan Wake or Doom would be awesome.

• More indigenous life. There’s got to be more creatures than Thresher Maws, Pyjacks, Varren, and shifty looking cows. A world or worlds where the player might get their ass chewed by wildlife would be enjoyable and add variety. There was a planet where all the life forms had biotic abilities of some sort. Very dangerous. Let’s have it.

• Add some unique drops and rare drops. Every now and then some high level boss or enemy drops something special.

• Add unique items. IE: A REAL Geth sniper rifle. Goods that actually carry unique characteristics of the race that made them.

I think they should keep the Mass Effect 2 inventory system because it’s 10 times than Mass Effect 1. Like OpiumThoughts said “You get what you need and salvage the rest”. The new armor system is awesome. Being able to customize the look of your armor, the color, and making each armor piece benefit you’re fighting style. But they really should add more weapons and armor pieces in Mass Effect 3. Also I loved the leveling up system when you fully max out a skill then you can be able to evolve the skill into something that gives you more damage from weapons or biotic or give you more Paragon and Renegade points.

This. This is perfect.

I also agree with companion armor and class-specific interrupts (for both Paragon and Renegade, though).

Here's the suggestion I really want to make: Maybe not an elcor squadmate, but an elcor army. With back-mounted artillery. They're shaped perfectly for carrying massive cannons.

I would like to see every race fighting the Reapers in the end (except maybe the volus, unless you're Renegade and use them as kamikaze troops).

Who knows for sure they might include the "old school" weapons as well as the new thermal clip using ones, and since there isn't too much time difference between ME1 and ME3,i'm sure some come still be laying around.
I know its a wild guess but Bioware might include them again in some way for those who liked to listen to their guns beep at them Image IPB

I said it in another thread, but I'll say it in this one too, just to be sure.
1. No high heels! High heels are not practical in space combat. And I don't see any men in them either. It's ridicilous, c'mon!
2. Female aliens.
3. A little bit of looting would be nice :) Maybe some special armor?
