I too GREATLY miss the inventory system. There is nothing more fun in an RPG than getting to a town and spending all that hard earned money on new and better equipment. A combination of ME1 and ME2 would work great, upgradeable weapons and armor that can also be customized visually? That would be awesome. But yeah, we need our shopping sprees.

I loved Jack, Tali, Legion, Thane. Great characters (and I hope we can get a lot more of Legion and his/its revelations and their implications vis a vis the Quarians in ME3.
Basically, if ME 3 is to really be the end of the ME line (very sad...I love me the ME universe) then please make it a BIG finish with 4 DVDs to allow for a much bigger universe, much more dialog, much more interaction. I'd like to be able to play and play ME 3 for a good, long time before having to say goodbye to the whole thing
So, my penultimate suggestion is go out BIG.

Oh, and stop catering to the shooter crowd, they don't know what they are talking about and they have there Call of Duty to play. Leave Mass Effect to us, its a RPG at its core.

Where to begin? Well to start I love the game, as always Bioware delivers quality work. However as nothing in this world is perfect here's my ideas for improvement (caution, as everyone has different ideas opinions may be devided). Some will go over what others have already said... but some things can never be said too often.
NPC/Party interaction: More of this is needed, both in and out of missions. One of the greatest aspects of BioWare games has always the banter between the party members, on and off the field. We need to be able to have more conversations with each of them, but not just one on one. I'd like to just go strolling through the ship, walk into the lounge and see two or three of them just chatting (like Thane and Garrus talking about sniper rifles, or going into engineering and seeing a conversation between Tali and those two engineers). Some you would be able to interact with (give some Paragon/Renegade points, or just for background fluff), others you would just watch to get more insight into you're team members personalities (some conversations could change depending on how you handled their loyalty mission(s), and/or if you're a Paragon/Renegade). Give us a reason to wander around that nice big ship of ours!
Hub Locations: Big areas with lots of sidequests give a nice sense of scale on how big the galaxy is. Don't give them all right away though, that'd just overwelm us. Give us a reason walk through that area more than once, a rumor or crowd conversation to turn into a quest farther down the line, new people showing up after certain events, things like that. Keep it nice and spread out through the entire game.
Vehicle/Scanning: I'll admit I was not a fan of the old Mako, at least not when it came to tooling around on random planet X37. I could only take so many mountains before I got bored. However those missions where we had a specific destination (Faros, Novaria, Vermire, Ilos), those were fun. The mineral scanning was kind of dull, to make it at all palatable we'd need a few more upgrades to the system to be available in game (larger target marker, activating the scan makes the 'planet ball' change into a color coded resourse map, things like that). Also, as someone said we have a crew. Someone should be doing this job for us, and if not we should be able to recruit one! (Recruiting non-party crew members, now I'm thinking of Suikoden:P)
Inventory: I actually liked what they did with this, well mostly. There was simply too much stuff that became completely useless later in the first game (ME1). I mean by the end I had both max omni-gel + Credits, and my inventory was still full of crap I would never use because I'd finalized my gear selection. There was no option to just 'discard all' on the loot screen, just 'take all' and 'reduce to omni-gel'. The new one is much simpler and manageable. The only parts I don't like is that there's only two options for each type (not counting heavy weapons and the few unique weapons some party members can get), and that the second is merely an obvious upgrade of the first. I think each needed around five, with the last three not any better or worse than the others just with different advantages/disadvantages (ie ammo/rate of fire/power/etc). So you'd have a reason to mix and match depending on your play style.
Armor customization: An expansion of inventory, but one I thought deserved it's own part. I liked this aspect, I just didn't think there were enough parts to choose from. Some should have been in stores (both immediately and after 'restocking' later in the game), other rarer pieces could only be found on certain missions (scanned/picked up, like the upgrades).
Party Skills: A step in the right direction, but not quite enough. I like the 'evolved' skill at the 4th rank, but the options need more difference between them. Perhaps 3 or 4 very different possibilities. Could also have more skills available period, just having four or so for each character made the screen kind of empty.
No helmet during dilogue: More of a pet peeve really, but you did it for Dragon Age so why not here? I can understand keeping the helmet on for hostile environments but I'm the kind of guy that likes seeing my characters expression/face when he talks. It's why I always end up taking the little visor thing for the helmet armor option. The +10% damage for headshots is nice, but mostly it's because it's the only helmet that doesn't ubsurdly obscure Shepard's face.
That's all I can think of right now... So anyway wether these changes are included or not, looking forward to ME3!

I wish ME3 Will have:
1.Ride a mech in a battle
2.have a epic moment where your dragging your friend though something who is injured or died.
3.Nudity! Its a mature game for a reason.
4.Gore! I want to blow someones head off with a shotgun. It would be more fun and make me laugh.

what id really like to see im ME3 is adding more to the relationship part all you get to do in ME2 is just talk to them, get them to like you, and then have sex. I'd really like to see them make the relationship part of the game more exciting like making it to where after you beat the game you can settle down and have more interactiong with the crew memmber you've chosen hell it would be cool if you could even start up a family. they should add things that make you play for countless hours more i've beatin ME2 four times already and each one doing everything i possibly could i spent about 10 hours on each one that includes the side missions!!!!

Even though ME 2 was superior to ME 1 in almost every way in my opinion, it still has a couple of letdowns.
The armor system was too streamlined/simplified. I have created a poll about it ,and a lot of people seem to agree.
The poll is at:
http://social.biowar...178/polls/1700/
The planet scanning was also very boring. Also made a poll about that (apparently I just love to make them).
The poll is at:
http://social.biowar...178/polls/1644/
Also a couple of other wishes for ME 3.
Keep most of the characters from ME 2 in your ME 3 squad.
Couple of thoughts about that:
http://social.biowar...05/index/892406
http://social.biowar...05/index/918247
Only a few new characters. A couple of (silly) suggestions at:
http://social.biowar...05/index/899957
And finally my impossible wish, concerning the traditional big decision in Bioware games:
http://social.biowar...05/index/925177
And it may seem I'm ranting, but I think that ME 2 truly is a great game and Biowares greatest accomplishment yet.

The main thing I found so tragic about ME2 was the overall display. In ME1 I used to enjoy reading the codex and and reading the details about the side missions, but in ME2 the text is just so small that for someone with a standard def TV (I played it on my brothers HD as well and it still wasn't easy to read) and not perfect eye sight, it was just too much effort to lean in close to the TV and strain my eyes to read everything. So in the end I felt I missed out on a lot of information because I just struggled to read it.
Also, to echo nearly everyone else on this forum... we need the old inventory back, but improved. Not removed.

Kaidan as a squadmate. I want my ME1 LI back! I wasn't the slightest bit tempted by any of the LIs in ME2. Give me Kaidan!
I'd also like to be rid of the planet scanning. It was cool at first, but it quickly got completely annoying. Can't I just have an autoscan? My mouse fingers will thank you for it...
I vote no on the Mako. I was thrilled that thing wasn't a part of ME2.

I think the team should stay intact and maybe just try and recruit Kaidan/Ashley or Liara. A mission to recruit Liara (especially considering her goals in ME2) has some serious potential.

Having more of the old squad members would be nice (especially Shepard's LI).
True, more customization would be very nice in terms of squad members. But I do like the fact that you can somewhat decorate your own cabin in ME2.
I think I'm one of the few people here who actually like the planet resource scanning. I prefer planet scanning over scouring unexplored planets for tiny bits of salvage/resources.
I also did not like the Mako in ME1. The whole shuttle drop off in ME2 was was so much better.
I like the way missions and assignments are set out in ME2. I don't want to waste my time wandering around looking for the correct route towards the main objective. I am more interested in the storyline than endless exploration. In this case, the linearity wins.
In terms of increasing the difficulty as you level up, the line has to be drawn somewhere. The original post's recommendation of having "enemies outside of your level that are too difficult to kill" would just be incredibly annoying for me since I'm one of the people who mainly care about the storyline, not the fighting/shooting aspect of the game.

Level 60 cap. More armor with customization. Ground battles with the Hammerhead if it is in the next ME. Selection of armor and weapons similar to the first ME. Level up with kills and a skill tree that is a hybrid between Me/ME2 such as more skills but with the chance to evolve them as in ME2. The chance to recruit former team member from both ME and ME2.

Like others have said, it'd be nice to see some more party interaction/banter and perhaps a romance between them or something. It's nice to see that kind of stuff, makes you feel like they are more alive.
Some things that I would like to see:
- More Interesting Biotic powers. I don't have any suggestions at the moment but I'll post some later if I can think of any.
- Same-sex Romance (Yeah, I went there).
- Better romances for females. Specifically, a better human romance. Kaiden was tolerable but Jacob was boring. I haven't tried out Garrus or Thane's romance yet, but I'll get there eventually.
- Keep the team no bigger than ten, like in ME 2.
- I'd like to visit Earth too, like the OP said.
- A new race, or flesh out the Drell.
- Make the large places we visit large (Citadel, Illium, etc. etc.)
I'll come up with more later and flesh these out when I have the time.

I want Kaidan back. DA:O style banter. It's hilarious. (Who want's a fluffy tail?) Kaidan. No scanning planets. Kaidan. Less ****y come ons for my femshep. (I was trying to be all paragon an almost accidentally started a group orgy on the Normandy.) A sentinel whose name rhymes with Aidan.
Oh, and since I've been very paragon this year, BioWare, I would also like a pony. And a red rider BB gun!

A big one for me is for mission areas to feel fully developed. What I mean by this is that EVERY area has one way to get from the starting point to the end with one exception. The fact that virtually every transition blocks the way back makes the areas FEEL very small.
I don't like the "walk through a door, get a cut-scene, turn around and find the way back has been closed off" that you see in ME2. It wouldn't be bad if there were a storyline reason for not being able to go back(explosion caused a collapse which prevents going back), but that isn't the case in ME2. An industrial complex for example might have some maintenance tunnels running under it, as well as going through the normal area, and a large building might have all sorts of ways to get to the top. Do you go up the service elevator, the regular elevator, or take the stairs?
Another thing that would be nice is if crew members would be a bit more proactive if they want attention. A message might be used by some people, but others would just show up in different locations based on what is going on. People in engineering might show up on the crew deck from time to time to eat, or there could be other little romances and relationships between crew members that would bring them to different areas for this and that. It would just make things feel a bit more...alive.

1. Squad banter
2. Elevators that let you skip them once the area finishes loading (full with news announcements and awesome music)
3. Entering and exiting the ship
4. More ME1 like quests on places like the citadel and more fun random encounters
5. Citadel and other areas to be as big as the ME1 citadel
And yeah. Thank you.

Character interactions
I love the story telling of Mass Effect, but there is a glaring flaw in the teammate dialogs. I feel there is very little of it and what little there is follows a distinct formula. You chat and gain trust, help them with their problem and then hit a wall. You are forced to fall for the teammate or cut them off and never speak to them again. The ones that aren't love interests give you more dialog after their mission, but telling a love interest you want to be friends kills the conversation. I really would love to see Mass Effect 3 allow for development of teammates as friends as well as love interests. It especially mattered in Mass Effect 2, where I wanted my character loyal to my first love, but it made the interactions with the potential love interests much less gratifying when I hit this wall.

I like the new clip system in ME2. Its much better than waiting for cool down on your weapons then in ME1. But wouldn’t it make sense if when you were out of round it would start overheating like in ME1, instead of just not firing? This way you could reload quickly in a fight and change cooling cartridge, or if you in good cover or out of clips, wait for it to cool down. I think ME3 could immerse combat better with the science if they used the heat monitor instead of rounds, so it feels like your picking up coolant clips instead of just ammunition. If you fire one round and wait for 10 minutes, a thermal clip could be cooled or vented, instead of having to be ejected 30 minutes after a fight. The background of the thermal clips was explained well, I just think the original cooling system paired with the new system makes more sense scientifically.

1. The main wish for ME3 is to keep the atmosphere of the ME2. Dark scenes such as the Collectors' ship, a screaming woman pulling in the elevator by that goddamn husk during the attack at Normandy, all those "****s" by Joker, e-mails from characters from ME1 - all this details make the game alive.
2. Please, make more plot quests. Loyalty ones are interesting but there're too many side quests compared to the number of the main quest missions. It doesn't feel like the suicide mission is our greatest objective, more like we live, travel and accidentally do whatever the Illusive man says.
3. Return the planet vehicles. There can be missions where we need some "heavy artillery" stuff to get through hostile nature or even heavy mechs.
4. Resourсe scans are tolerable enough to be kept. For me it's kind of meditative, leaving alone the fact (thank you, THANK YOU!!!) that you don't have to explore every last resource point in the galaxy to have all upgrades.
5. You did the right thing to throw the old inventory away, IMO. In ME1 you grab a big gun and carry it until you find a bigger one. It was unnecessary to have something else. In that case the ME2 upgrade system is more mature, 'cause there're is no nerd-specialized weapons or enemies to carry a particular gun for each.
6. Maybe it's off-topic and better for EA forum, but VERY IMPORTANT in terms of localization!!! Keep under the strongest control the localization process in Russia and please keep the English language in the game installer for all your games. I played the English version but seen Russian translations. It's utterly terrible!!! Wrong meanings, misprints - it's like they did it at the last moment as quickly as they could! After so many bugs in Russian ME1 and Dragon Age I thought our soft companies learned something. BTW, if there's no English version in the installer, the buyer would better download it from torrent instead of twisting his brain with unreadable texts of the licenced one.
