I want Don't Fear the Reaper to be the credits song for ME 3. It just fits the trilogy so well.

@StrikeSaber47, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that, it's cleverly appropriate and fitting to give you something to smile about after saving the galaxy.

Also to the angry ME I ****s (German National Socialist Party Members), your opinions reflect a small part of the community I loved ME I through and through, but welcomed the changes. The Mako was the worst designed vehicle in any game I ever used, the heat based system was counter intuitive to how weapons work, and cover system was a waste. ME 2 was a true squeal in that it improved the game and evolved into something greater.

Ummm you do realize the German Nationalist Social Party were ****s right? You just told people they where part of Hitler's regime and incase the forms bleep it out thats N.A.Z.I.S not cool you shouldn't call them that if you've got no proof.

u guys r gunna hate me for this, but i DON'T want the helmet switching on and off in the missions from ME1 back. it doesnt make sense to have it. like in real life where would you put the helmet? would it show him drop it on the ground? i want the game to be that realistic.

I'm pretty sure you could put like, a strap on your hip for the helmet to hook onto.  Or your back.  Or anywhere, really.  Or it could disappear into your inventory like all the palladium and stuff you happen to just pick up as you're walking around.

My wishlist:

1).  Helmet toggle.  Please oh god, let me turn my helmet on/off.
Without going back up to my captain's quarters.  I don't care if I lose the bonus---I probably should.  But I don't need to have a helmet on all the time.

2).  Squad members wear appropriate armor again.
The causual-look/battle-look of ME1 was an incredibly good idea.  Character design doesn't have to die if you put everyone back in armor.  Look at Zaeed, Garris, Grunt, etc.  They're still outfitted to actually fight someone, but they still look unique as well.  Now look at Jack, Miranda, Jacob... Give them some body armor!  Especially Jack! She's like, a sitting duck!

3).  More shoot-the-crap dialogue with teammates.
ME2 > ME1, but in ME1 people's dialogue updated every mission.  It doesn't even have to be serious.  I wouldn't mind joking around about how garrus is missing half his face again.  I think one of the reasons everyone loved Mordin so much is because he was your chattiest squad member.  I always wandered up to the cockpit to talk to Joker, because at least he's going to give me something unique, almost every time I talk to him.

4).  Some squad to squad interactions.
Might be romances, might be rivalries.  The developing relationship between Joker and Edi,  The Tali/Legion, Miranda/Jack thing added a lot of flavor to the game.  Coupled with Kasumi's gossip, I think that was all a massive leap in the right direction.  I would like moar of this.

5).  Continue to shoot for the same game length.
Some people are calling for an extremely long game, but I kind of like beating the game eventually, and then replaying it.

6).  Continue the ME2 trend of really awesome ambience and immersion.
All of the environments in ME2 felt way more alive than ME1.  Everyone complaining about the loss of immersion points to the same few nit-picking details, i.e. elevators, getting on and off of ships, etc.  But truth be told, Omega is awesome--it felt more like an actual place than any of the worlds in ME1.

7).  Returned emphasis on exploration from ME1.
Something about going into a star system, getting updated immediately by Heckett, quickly finding the mission and landing was a little bit more exciting for me than scanning every planet and occasionally finding anomolies.  Coupled with the fact that there was no need to do probe as many planets as there were N7 missions to find tucked away, visiting random star systems and scanning planets got really mundane.  If the scanning system isn't totally defunct, how about increasing the frequency of N7 missions so that I'm rewarded everytime I've discovered 100% of a star system.

8).  Introduce a couple of new squadmates.
Probably more than one, but less than 5.  It sounds like we're going to have a really full roster, and the return of any sort of inventory system is going to make outfitting people a lot more difficult.  So, I'm not asking for a lot of new people, but at least a few.

I would love to see a new armor system similar to Halo's setup. Being able to mix and match would be really neat. They can still keep the % bonuses if you feel like it.

ALSO have a "community" lobby similar to Halo, where your Shepard would be shown among your friends in the main lobby. Maybe throw in some stats about X enemies killed, levels completed, # of playthroughs, etc.

As addition to my old wishes.
  • Please give Reapers a really strong reason for what they are doing, don't make another 'hurr-durr-evil' from them.
  • Less squadmates , more interaction.
P.s When you are going to close this thread?

You should get to choose your team from me1 and 2 characters as well as a bunch of new ones.

Aria as a squad member or I want to fight her!

Normandy space battles!

Give Jack some hair (maybe just if you romanced her)

Tali's (Quarians) without the suits.

Go to all of the race's home-worlds!

Saucier romance scenes, like in ME1 and generally make more use of the mature rating in terms of themes, not just a few swear words.

Take down a Reaper single handed!

No more scanning for resources.

More missions not based entirely on combat, like Thane's loyalty mission.

Make side missions have more of an impact.

More loyalty missions! Even two per character, they were by far the most enjoyable and varied missions in ME2.

I'm sure ye will outdo yourselves again for ME3.

Yeah, it's kind of refreshing to do something that isn't talking to people, or fighting with them...

Maybe we should expand the smuggling we did that one time in ME1 into a credit boosting time-sink minigame, where at every hub world you can pick up legals goods there and sell illicit ones that you bought else where.

Would make a lot of sense, especially since you'll probably roam both the terminus systems and council space.

1. "The Fairer Sex"

Before you close the book on Cmdr. Shepard, please, please let us meet:

  • Female Krogan
  • " Turian
  • " Salarian
2. Longer gameplay hours (overall)

A longer main storyline and more sidequests would be awesome in ME3. It would be disappointing if ME3 turned into a race to the finish line; 'Earth's in danger! Quick everyone let's just beat the reapers miraculously fast. Yay, problem solved.' I want to feel the uphill struggle to defeat the reapers.

3. Loading times/screens

If there is anyway possible to shorten and smooth the loading that would be great. If not, it wouldn't bother me much. Personally, I'm with Garrus and miss those conversations in the elevator. (But that's just me.)

I really hope that BioWare takes some of the suggestions in this thread on board and make a really fitting conclusion to the 'Shepard' story.

Addition to my wishes, if not to late:

give Legion additional bodies, so that he would be able to upload himself before missions.

on one mission he can go as Geth Hunter or GEth Prime etc.

More endings only for Shepard!

Perfect Renegade Ending : Shepard as first Emperor of new Human Galactic Empire (with Chancellor, former Illusive Man)

Renegade Ending : Shepard as star marshall of Alliance

Paragon Ending : Shepard as human Ambassador/Admiral (somewhere)

Perfect Paragon Ending : Shepard as President of the Interstellar Federation

...and ending with (totally) death Shepard, of course

- Make Kasumi a possible romance option! She's by far the coolest female character...

- Better and faster planetary scanning system (or design a new, fun and interesting way to upgrade weapons, armor, etc)

- More systems, more plantes, more side quests, more exploring!

- More squad mate dialogue (I got tired of Garrus's calibrations)

- Interactive ship battles, not just cinematics

- Make every single decission affect the course of the story

- Easier ways to make money (On ME1 I was ridiculously rich, on ME2 I had some serious financial issues)

- Lots, lots of dlc!

- Don't spend too much time on Earth, I don't want to see places that I can actually see in real life...

- Make sure that Miranda, Kasumi, Grunt, Legion, and Thane remain in the squad

Stop squadmates from breaking cover unless Shepard gives the command, the squadmates can be real cretins at times, you take out a wave of enemy and they break cover like it's safe to do so, then the next wave hits, it gets very annoying commanding them back into cover!

 1.  Female turians, drells and krogans.

 2.  Female turian and female drell as squad members and romance options for male Shepard.

 3.  Could the female turian also be the chick Garrus mentioned in Mass Effect 2, or Garrus's sister?

 4.  Settle the score with Balak if we let him go in Bring Down the Sky, this time without innocents in danger.

 5.  Help Zaeed bring Vido Santiago to justice, this time without civilian lives in danger.

 6.  Team up with the Geth to fight the Reapers and bring the Quarians back to Rannoch to share it with the Geth.

 7.  Cure Thane of his Kepral's syndrome.

 8.  Heal Garrus's face and help him heal his sick mother.

 9.  Visit the home worlds of the other races.

10. Meet the Raloi race and recruit a Raloi squad member.

11. Cure Wrex and the Krogans of the genophage and help Wrex unite the Krogans

12. Meet Admiral Hackett in person voiced by Lance Henriksen.

13. Have that interview with Emily Wong and request her assistance in proving Shepard's discoveries regarding the Reapers and Collectors and getting back at the council and alliance (except Anderson and Hackett) for betraying Shepard and lying to the galaxy.

14. Solve the murder of Executor Pallin.

15.  Meet the Rachni again and team up to fight the Reapers.

16.  Will any of the planets with the strange objects in Mass Effect 1 be involved in Mass Effect 3, such as the Leviathan of Dis, Crypts of Light on Klencory, that gas giant Ploba that has the supercomputer/hidden weapons and that planet with the mysterious disappearing lights?

17.  Updated versions of Blood Dragon Armor and Terminus Armor with changeable armor colors and helmet visor colors.

18. Customizable appearances, colors and upgrades for weapons.

19. Being able to pilot the Normandy or at the very least take control of the weapons like the Ebon Hawk in KOTOR?

20. Return planetary exploration with a vehicle hybrid of the mako & hammerhead.

21. Adopt the varren Urz and bring him onto the Normandy.

22. Help Mordin Solus cure Joker's Vrolik Syndrome.

23. See Engineer Adams again.

24. No more graphical and gameplay glitches and no more sound drops in in-game dialogue and cutscenes.

25. Characters and squad members walk and talk to each other freely while on the Normandy.

25. Visit Shepard's home or place of origin and visit planet of Shepard's military profile.

26. Find out what happened to Admiral Mehrkuri at Pressha.

27. Go to Shepard's apartment and possibly use it and pinnacle station as bases of operations and head quarters, and meet Ahern again.

28. Give us the option to add a third squad mate at any given time.

No idea if this has been posted yet of not, I don't have time to go through 300 pages of post. The only thing I would like to see is Bioware ADD controler support for the PC version of the game. I even have a petition people can sign to make their wishes known.

Ok, let me start with the small things first... They've probably already been mentioned, but in case someone is keeping score on how many times the request appear, here it is again:
  • Old inventory system and weapon upgrades... I just finished playing Mass Effect 1 & 2 again and that was the first thing that bugged me when I started playing ME2.  I like having the power to customize (and sell stuff for extra credits).  Perhaps just increase the inventory limit since there are more characters.
  • I also liked the trading system with the different brands, start off with cheap stuff, then sell the junk you pick up and buy the proper brands.  This goes for the armor / squad armor as well.
  • I really preferred the skills / abilities from ME1.  You had more choices / powers per character and although I do understand why it was changed, the characters are a bit too light.  Certain power combinations that I had in my ME1 character is now not possible in ME2.   The ammo powers should also be ammo types again (configured in inventory)
  • Add more Joker quotes.  I find myself running to the cockpit after every mission to check if he has something new to say.  The guy is hilarious.  Just add some more jokes, some additional comments on each of the squad members and perhaps even some comments on current events... that's all I ask.  Seth should be able to quickly do this in one afternoon :-)
  • I also liked the ability in ME1 to crouch regardless of whether I'm in cover or not
  • Length of the game is fine as-is, although, more content is always welcome.  Just don't make it shorter.
  • An extra alien race or two will also be welcome
  • The small talk between squad members (like in the elevators in ME1 or like Dragon Age) could also happen more often.  Humor is always welcome.
  • Keep Aria in ME3... I liked her.
  • And then, the Mako... I think the big problem with the Mako was that it was kind-of all over the place.  Make it a bit more stable / better control, give it the ability to get over high mountains quickly, and that should solve the issue.  The concept of the Mako and the guns provided is fine further.  I saw the concept for vehicle used in Shadow Broker, and it is nice, but not for planet exploration.  The one in Overlord didn't really do it for me... I liked the ability to get out when I want to like in ME1 as well as the two separate guns found in the Mako.
  • Bigger citadel for sure... perhaps combine the ones from ME 1 and 2.
  • +1 on everything the Uszi said
For me however, the thing that sets ME apart from all the other games I've ever played and that made me addicted when I first got the game, is the rich story, my influence on it and rich backgrounds of the characters.  Going into the final installment, I would really like to see the choices made in ME 1 and 2, to have much much bigger impact.  In fact, based on certain decisions, I would even like it if the game could have multiple endings.  When I say multiple endings, I don't mean like ME2 where you just have a different outcome based on your choice there and then.  I mean different end battles / paths depending on previous choices.  (I know, I'm asking for a lot)

Some of the choices that I think should either have a big effect or change the whole ending, should be:
  • How the Rachni were handled in ME1
  • How Legion's loyalty mission was handled (or if it wasn't done)
  • Decision regarding the collector base at end of ME2
  • And then obviously the number of survivors from ME2 should have a big effect.
Other things that should either have a big influence on the overall story or be a quest in ME3:
  • The results from Bring Down the Sky.  If Balak got away (or if the DLC was not done and the rock crashed into the planet), there must be a chance to go and hunt the bastard down.  Alternatively, if he was killed, perhaps some political fallout from the council or something?
  • The decision regarding the council at end of ME1, should somehow have a greater influence than in ME2.
  • It would also be good if the decision regarding Wrex in ME1 could make a difference.  Perhaps determine whether the Krogan will provide support for the battle or not or something like that.
  • The Illusive man... Perhaps provide the choice to become allies with him or hunt him down or something and let the story play out in different ways depending on the decision.
And then finally, just some random ideas:
  • Perhaps to get involved in the Quarian / Geth situation would be quite interesting.  Either to start a war, resolve the issue diplomatically, etc.  Although, I suppose if done properly, this could be done later as a DLC.
  • Getting my hands on a Prothean would be awesome.  Especially if I can add it to my crew... the conversation should be very interesting.  Perhaps one was revived or extracted or something from somewhere or who knows.
Anyway, that's my ideas / wishlist although, I'm not sure how much it will be considered since the release date is in a couple of months.

This is however, by far, still the best games I've played.  I usually only play games during December... now I play as-and-when a new Mass Effect is released and then I just replay ME in December.
It's a pity that ME is coming to an end, but as some wise guy once said, all great trilogies come in threes. :-)
This story and concepts are very well thought out and I really hope that you keep this "universe" to develop future games.  Just add new races (to the existing ones), planets, characters, start with fresh story (nothing related to Sheppard / Reapers except maybe for a couple of jokes / loose references / news), etc.  ME1 reminded me of the old Star Control games in a way.  There ain't a lot of good space-genre games available these days.

hmm what would i like to see in ME3.. a stats system thats a little more like ME1 a little more variety you know. What i would really like to see is a bit more canadian voice talent, i mean for a game made in edmonton you'd think they'd use more voice talent from their home base. I myself am situated in BC near vancouver and we've got lots of voice talent. don't get me wrong i love the voices in the game but id of thought theyd use more canadians but theres only two. Mark Meer (Male Shephard) and Jennifer Hale (Female Shephard) and she was raised in the states. other than that i personally think mass effect is a great series and its been a long time since we've seen a really good single player only game.

A very important wish for me is: Bioware don´t create a second Gothic 3!

Gothic 3 was a disaster, a bitter end for great game series.
This game had two major problems:
1) There wasn´t a story. Gothic 3 was a endless chain of side quests. After several playing hours the story was in  the same place like in the beginning.
2)Many, many bugs. After only four patches there remained many bugs. The reason for this: the game was released to early.
Bioware don´t make the same mistakes. When you need time, take your time. The game should be released only when it´s done. Nobody needs a second distaster, if they are called unpatient players or investors, that is not important.

Not_Zero

P.S. Bioware don´t oversee bugs. Don´t oversee great ideas. Take your time.

Make every weapon like the heavy weapons.

By that I mean give them all a very specific use. It doesn't need to be every weapon completely unique and different. It is okay if there are three different types of machine guns, but make it so that they are noticeably different in gameplay and each with a very specific strength.

But it would be fantastic if every weapon was completely unique like the heavy wapons were. Biggest problem with both ME and ME2 is that the differences in equipments were too modest. What makes for good RPG customization are the trade-offs having a significant impact. Take Diablo 2 as an example, the game isn't afraid to let you have a 500% damage bonus, but the game does not let you max even half of your skills.

Also, bring back driving. Mako's controls were awful and the topography of every planet seemed randomly generated. However, it was still immensely satisfying to explore a planet, specially because each planet's atmosphere was unique.

If you guys can add large non-randomly generated areas for exploration would be amazing. Like a mix of ME2's approach to side missions making them absolutely unique with ME's expansive environments with several landmarks.

Too many ideas have been posted here for me to care to post any of my own. :P I just imagine that sometime within the next 6 months this thread will be closed because once they reach a certain point in development it'll be too late to change much. Just a guess though so don't get all hostile about it. :)

If there is anything I would suggest be put into Mass Effect 3 is that we have the option of having an "all is lost" ending where your past bad decisions enable the Reapers to win in the end like we had a bad ending  in ME2 due to your actions and decisions. THAT would really hit home the fact that our actions had real consequences in the ME universe.
