- reRPGfied close-up on the story (decisions to make, more than just attitudes to take); more dialogue and/or story-driven missions instead of just shooting things.

- Exploration as a gameplay element - not exploring vast but empty spaces like in ME1's UNC planets, but exlporing stories (I mean the kind where you uncover the secret of a destroyed scientific complex, like Jack's Loyalty mission in ME2 for example), maybe a war-torn citiscape, that kind of exploration.

- reRPGfied inventory - at least having the option of allies wearing actual armor in zero-gravity and/or hostile environments. Not a big deal and makes sense.

- Less emphasis on romance - In ME2 some of the character developments are simply cut if you don't take the romance route. It's not a dating sim, it's an action/RPG, we shall still be able to discover the possiblities, characteristics, depth of the given characters.

- And again a reRPGfied storytelling. The second game was a bit too much Michael Bay'd (as one of the fellow forumitees already mentioned somewhere), with short episodes; an epic story arc serves the series better.

I'd like a chance to fight some of my former crew. For example,if you were Renegade you need to fight Samara when you encounter her,or someone hires Zaeed to kill you if you were Paragon.Something like that would be very interesting.

Okay, adding my $.02 here:

I'm a long-time ME fan, own all the extra-mission DLC, typing this in my N7 T-shirt, etc. I LOVE Mass Effect. Yet, like a lot of fans, I didn't think the original ME was *quite* perfect, and was hoping for some changes and improvements in ME 2. While I still love the sequel, I was...not entirely happy with the results. I prefer ME 1 overall. Still, I do think some of ME 2 was an improvement, so here's my wish list for 3:

1) LOSE THERMAL CLIPS. More than anything in 2 (except possibly the Liara situation), I hated the switch from overheating to Thermal Clips. In universe, they're stupid compared to the nigh-infinite ammo situation in Council Space, and since Shepard is apparently the only being in the galaxy who seems to have to worry about the damn things, I want them gone. This can be justified as being a Terminus Systems thing.

2) Bring back vehicular exploration! Yes, the Mako had its faults, but 2 lost a lot of 1's beauty when it lost those gorgeous worldscapes. (Hint: Overlord was a good start!) Personally, I'd make it a flying vehicle -- I can't be the only one who misses the fighter combat genre -- but the Hammerhead is fine with better shields/armor. As a corollary, NO MORE MINING MINI-GAME. It needs to go the way of the Thermal Clip.

3) 2-style shooting, 1-style powers. I didn't mind 1's RPG-style "dice in the background" gameplay, but hey, even I enjoy a good headshot now and again. The "unified power cooldown" system, however, made some powers -- particularly the defensive ones, except the awesome Tech Armor -- useless to me. Plus, I miss Lift for my Sentinel and Damping in general. I also wasn't fond of the "rock-paper-scissors" system for enemy defense. So if I'm an adept, my powers are functionally useless on the armor guy? Thanks no.

4) Saving Squadmates Must Matter. If I got Thane out of the Collector Base in one piece, he'd better not die in between games just to keep squad numbers balanced. Likewise Mordin, Jack, and pretty much everyone else. They don't all have to be potential squadmates (I can't imagine Zaeed sticking around without someone to pay the bills), but they should at least be around and make a difference to the plot. As a related point, I really want to be able to bring back the old posse: Wrex, Liara and Ash/Kaidan need to be back in the saddle again!

5) More thinking, less shooting. Now I love blowing up evil robots and/or traitors to all life in the galaxy as much as the next gamer, but come on, guys, you're BIOWARE. Give us some puzzles. Make us think about how to deal with obstacles, or at least give us the option of shooting through or sneaking around the security system. The times you've done that were fantastic; give us more!

6) Inventory. Now, there was definitely inventory bloat in the first game. It was fat and unsortable and desperately needed to be fixed. Unfortunately, 2 went too far the other way and cut tech to the bone (no armor for squadmates? Seriously?) rather than muscle. Weapon loadouts don't need much more variety and we certainly don't need the I-X range by the time you're saving the galaxy, but a few models of bio-amp and omni-tool would be nice, and seriously, half the crew needs some gorram ARMOR. Balance, balance, balance.

7) Let us flip off the Illusive Man. Me, I'm usually Paragon all the way. I'm glad that Renegades can tell the Council where to stick it (it'd feel weird if they couldn't), but even though we can keep playing past the "suicide mission," everyone's got those bloody Cerberus logos on their shirts even if you go Paragon at the end? No. Seriously, no. Me, I want to do a lot more than flip him off -- I actually want to blow his freakin' racist head off for lying to me about Liara -- but I'll settle for taking his 100 billion credit ship, AI, and top operative off to work for the Council, laughing in his murdering face all the while.

8) Tali. Let's see her face. Seriously, Shepard (potentially) knows what she looks like, and we don't? Personally, I blame Evil Chris Priestly. :D

Under the "nice to have" category: More Joker and EDI (maybe she can get an avatar body?). Some kind of space combat -- I want to core a Reaper Joker-style! A Big Damn Armada moment for Paragons, where all those allies you've helped out in the previous two games show up to make the Reapers ****** their genocidal metal frames. Non-combat biotics, where you can levitate stuff for puzzle-solving or just plain fun.

Thanks for some great games! :o

1) While you are on the Earth stopping the Reapers, there should be boss fights against some of the less powerful Reapers where you can call in a limited number of air strikes from the Normandy and the upgrades you've done to the Normandy's weapons affect how much damage the air strikes do, or maybe you could control the Normandy for the whole fight.

2) Make it so you can drive tanks and other armed vehicles around the streets on Earth, maybe having helicopters and other army style vehicles.

3) Bring back the benefits you got from the achievements, ME2 may have had some but ME1 had more and better ones, like how if you got 150 kills with an Assault Rifle in ME1 you could train in Assault Rifles as a bonus power for other classes.

4) Combine the side missions styles of ME1 and ME2, so that you can drive the Mako, or other vehicles, around on the planets but the planets are a lot more complicated and each one is unique, like they are in ME2.

5) You should be able to pick between the Alliance and Cerberus, changing things like who you have on your squad or the weapons and equipment you have available to you.

6) Bring back Medi-Gel as a healing item, or make something else for a healing item and keep Medi-Gel for Unity, a healing item of some sort will be necessary if you are going to be taking on Reapers.

7) Maybe bring in giant mechs, with missile launchers and jets so you can fly, you can control for some of the harder fights.

8) You should be able to find civilisations while on planets, where you could find people to help you against the Reapers or something. Also you should be able to go into buildings, especially while you are on Earth, but the buildings should be in some way destructable, maybe if the Reapers or other powerful enemies blast it to get to you.

I know nothing about programming or making games so these are all just things I think would be awesome to see in the game, I have absolutely no idea how hard some of these ideas would be to add but I can imagine most of them would be quite hard to program.

I think an interesting addition would be class specific conversation options or interrupts, along the lines of the Paragon / Renegade choices in ME2. Seeing Sheperd slow a fall with biotics in one scene, or landing hard in another would really give you a sense that class matters outside of battle too. Or, if not supplied by Sheperd, then by the squad mates you chose to take with you.

Agree on above... especially the thermal clips.  I know it logically doesn't make much sense, but I liked it more in ME1, not running around looking for the darn things.
The rest I've probably mentioned in my earlier post.

1. Armor selection for teammates would be nice. I'd love for my squad to look they actually belong to the same unit (in terms of color schemes, etc. - think having everyone outfitted in the same armor brand in ME1). But also keep the option to keep them in their unique uniforms.

Ideally, just a similar setup to Shep's armory setup from 2 (with the customizable armor and their unique uniforms falling under the "Type" category - much like the custom setup versus the full armor sets Shep has). Most of the aliens would just use the human-looking armors anyways (drell, asari, batarian, all the human squaddies, etc). For krogan, quarians, solarians and turians the same armor model but with the ability to change the color scheme would work. But I don't know how truely feasible something like this is, so...

2. Give our "reserved" squadmates something to do. The times where you get to assign unused squadmates to do something or lead another squad somewhere else were great. It's weird to go through all this trouble to recruit someone just to then have them do nothing. Maybe even spots where the second squad covers you or relieves you when you're pinned down from the building across.

I don't know, just give them a life outside of powers and dialogue options =P

This my .2 cents. Take out the the whole ammo power. I should have to buy it and equip it if i want to use it. That power was usless. The squad using more than 2 guns cause i want to be able to say who is good with what weapon. ME1 level up system was good they dumbed it down to much in pt.2. Customize guns form ME1. Hybrid guns form both games meaning i could shot as long i want intill my gun overheated. As soon as it did i would have to put in a new thermo clip or something but those would have to limited. Squad with armor. Toggle helmet on or off. To kill aria, but that is just my opinion i really hate her.

I'd really like there to be an option for 2 bonus powers in ME3. 1 related to loyalty and another, like ME1, that isn't exclusive to loyalty or a specific class power (ie. Charge, Cloak, AR, etc.)

Ex 1: If I was an Infiltrator, I'd get a tier 1 bonus power (like ME1), and get Push or Overload. A tier 2 bonus power (exclusively loyalty mission unlockable powers) would be Reave or Energy Drain, etc.

Ex. 2: If I was a Vangaurd, I might get say, Disrupter Ammo as a tier 1, and Barrier as a tier 2.

Tier 1 bonus powers would only be available after completing the game once (like ME1), and tier 2 bonus powers were be available via advanced training immidiately after gaining someone's loyalty, like ME2

This way: The power wheel wouldn't be too cluttered, it wouldn't hinder hotkey options much more than they already are, and it the classes wouldn't be incredibly overpowered, but increase survivalibility. I don't understand the empty slot on the power wheel in ME2 other than the fact that modders can put another power there.

1. That every possible character seen, and mentioned appear in Mass Effect 3. (Literally "Leave no one behind") Leave no holes in the story.

2. Return of vehicle usage. (of course don't make the trips as boring as ME1)

3. Return of inventory system( But try to improve it a little), don't make it too simple.

4. ME1 style leveling, but slightly improved( ME2 was acceptable, but was a bit too simple)

5. More weapon variety and weapon customization( Not like ME2, it was fine but still too simple) Example:Customizable sights, color options, return of grenades(Like in ME1, not a power), etc.

6. More variety to powers( If possible of course)

7. Improve squad mechanic.

8. More varieties of alien races if possible. Not necesary, because i don't want to clutter the game with too many species.

9. Have a more meaningful way to beging the story. I just don't want to have the feeling of starting fresh at the beginning. (Make the survival of the Normandy crew be meaningful and useful for starting, as well as have your Squad be accessed immediately for use. Not throw them away and then recruit more characters.) We have enough characters as it is if we saved them all. And why not have all the powers you trained yourself from the start.

10. Customizable Normandy.

11. Larger main story.( Both previous games hae the tendency to have a short main story, try to make it longer)

12. Add a "Fog of War" feature to the planet scanning, that way we can easily determine where we previously scanned. Mainly to avoid the repeditiveness and the confusion of "Did i scan there before?"

13. Space Battles, not cinematic, but actual gameplay.

So far thats all i can think of, please look and respond. Bioware PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT MY SUGGESTIONS.

1. I want most squaddies back from ME2 in ME3.

2. DEFINETLY Improve computer AI on highest difficulty level.

3. Better more advanced weapons.

4. Possibility to import our own music into Normandy.

5. Space Battles as a part of gameplay. I'd love to take part in battle during the Earth counter-attack invasion as a pilot.

6. Less bugs in game.

7. More intelligent squad-mates, i.e. they should take cover immnediately instead of waiting exposed to be killed (which usually happens)

8. No level & skill restart as it happened in ME2. Good solution would be to increase level cap to 60 in ME3. Those who import their save, give them some cash and resources bonus and keep the imported Shep level with all his/her skills and equipment.

9. Raknii, make their come-back epic! They're supposed to take revnge on the Reapers for mind controlling and forcing them into, as we know, The Raknii Wars.

10. Allow remnants of human fleet join the counter attack on Earth.

11. Decisions imported from ME1&2 should have serious effects and decide on succeeding in the Reaper War. That means, create alternate ending with entire galaxy being wiped out, but with better warning and proof of Reaper existence and tech schematics left on the citadel for another space-faring species so they could succeed in the war.

12. The Final battle after retaking Earth should take place on Reapers hiding spot/planet which they use as a gateway to the milkyway. That means organic races counter attacking for the first time in Reaper extinction cycles through the unmapped (again xD) Citadel-Mass Relay.

I don't get why people want this? You are Shepard. Not a pilot. I'd of course want space battles and I want them big and epic.
My vision:
Before the final confrotation you meet with every representative of every huge fleet and ground force. It will be a big strategy meeting with old friends and new allies (depending on choices throughout trilogy). You then have a big discussion on how you are going about the final attack and you as well as others make some good arguments against and for certain strategies. In the end though, you get to decide where and when someone attacks. Final battle happens and not everything goes according to plan. So you are on board the Normandy and and will be contacted by individual factions about help, support and strategie decisions. Again you have to make big choices: reinforce that front, retreat there or send the Turian fleet to help as well as what the Normandy does. It should feel like you are in control of the space battle BUT not by active gameplay but by choices. That's what I wish anyway.

From my other thread:

Hello, I'd like to add my wishlist to ME3. I am an avid PC player of Bioware games, especially the BG/ME series and I'd like to throw my 2c on what I think what might be good for the sequel. I was also credited as top beta tester for several AAA titles, so that reduces the chances of my feedback being.. well, useless or invalid/unbalanced. All I want is to help make ME3 a better experience than the last two titles (barring storyline). Suggestions based on all game difficulty modes including insanity.

So without further ado, my humble wishlist:

Cooldowns - while I think the ME1 power spam was definitely out of space, the shared cooldown has, imo, made the ME2 gameplay a bit one-dimentional. For one, you couldn't combo your abilities by yourself, you relied on other squadmates to do that. While promoting teammates certainly has its merits, the limits that are put on the player for using one power are just too restricting in ME2, imo. I suggest that once a power is used, the power has a normal cooldown attached to it, while the other powers get a lower cooldown on them. That lower cooldown can be based on the level of the power used, for example, shortening based on rank. So in the end, you can pull > detonate on your own instead of having to pick specific teammates that you may or may not want otherwise on your team.

Barriers and powers - the introduction of barriers was an intersting one, however, I think that just disabling most powers if the barriers are still on does not make for good gameplay. We've all seen what the biotics do in the cinematic moments. Unfortunately, during actual gameplay, most of their powers are sitting in timeout until you reach the health of your targets. At the very least, you could make biotics affect armored foes if the biotic power has reached a certain rank, or affect them to a smaller degree. After all, once you've gotten to the health of an enemy, the hard work is mostly done and you're just cleaning up with your biotics rather than using them throughout the fight.

Weapons and ammo - the inventory system was just horrendous in ME1. Bunch of icons with different stats, with weapons having little difference visually. ME2 has improved on the formula, but at the expense of customization. What I would do is keep the current weapon system, maybe 4 weapons of each, but being able to customize certain features with weapon attachments. Weapon attachments can be found/researched and what they do is either increase magazine size, increase fire rate, have bigger penetration against shields or other things. They can be either all shared in the same weapon class or you can make each weapon have specific attachments.

Diversity - with just 5 powers for each class I feel the classes are pretty restricted as far as gameplay goes, especially considering that 3 of those powers can be passive (2 ammo + class passive). I feel this is the case because of the shared cooldowns. I'd say adding one or two extra active powers would reward gameplay and combat variety. This could be also achieved through the same base power, that would lock out the other alternative. For example:

One final Cloak version is Cloak of Assassination - same as the current one, but the alternative is:

Cloak of Subterfuge

Increases movement speed and adds an additional multiplier when hitting enemies that are taking cover on the wrong side of your attacks or when you are hitting them in the back.

What this means is that the gameplay style of this sort of Infiltrator would be to cloak, then appear behind enemy lines and gain a significant attack bonus when attacking the exposed enemies who are taking cover from your teammates on the other side. The enhanced speed would make sure that you are able to get where you want to (this can either be speed or added cloak time) and the attack bonus would serve to let you take down enemies who do not expect you there.

All for the sake of more variety in the same class, while still keeping the core gameplay mechanic.

More combos - There should be more combinations in the game, apart from just using a biotic power and then warping someone to oblivion. For example, a frozen target should get shattered by any concussive ability and be extra prone to headshots (except bosses). More combos will prove beneficial to the game and allow more viable teammates.

More unique abilities to followers - In addition to the damage resistance and regeneration, I think it would be quite interesting to have your Krogan follower (crossing fingers it's Wrex in ME3) to have a charge ability. This would be of extreme tactical use and it would make a unique twist on having such teammates around.

Other ideas would be to have Garrus a sniping shot (in addition to his concussive shot), Liara to knock people out of cover with chairs and other inanimate objects (doing damage and bypassing all resistances), Jack having a powerful slam or punch biotic power etc.

Let us play with our 2 teammates of choice - for at least 50% of the game. I don't think we can do that in ME2. Loyalty missions are a great way to add a personal touch to every crew member, and I enjoyed most of them quite a bit. But there is a downside to this - between recruiting and doing loyalty missions, you actually miss out on playing the game with the squadmates of your choice, which is something I really enjoyed in ME1 - playing with 2 teammates you really like the most.

More female genders - we're still left with no Turian, Salarian, Krogan, Battarian, etc. females. I know it's an effort to make the models, but so is paying for the game. I think it's just ridiculous to go over hundreds of planets and NEVER encounter a female version of the otherwise male infested races.

How about no more import data bugs?

Currently in ME2, the consort related quests, the samesh bhatia quest, conrad verner, a number of others would only import one way, and did not properly load some of the choices.

How about more testing on that front?

I agree with all those in favour of depth and options from inventory to side quests and exploration. It's not about dumping the ME1 one stuff back, we want to see those systems improved for the new games. Bigger AND/or better, not less and easier.

Yes absolutely, and it must be in the background making faces during a romance scene. I also want dialogue references to its hilarious antics with Joker and EDI.

Also the Cain being able to fire more than one shot before you have to go find more ammo.
