The option to actually change the appearance of an imported character when ME3 begins. I understand somewhat the idea of not being able to change your appearance in ME2, but if any signifigant amount of time passes between games shouldn't we be able to change some features.

Oh yeah, needs more helmet toggle. And customized squad armor.Posted Image

Didn't they do this in ME2?  I could have sworn I had the option to change appearance.  Gender no, but I remember having the option of changing my face after I loaded up my old shepard.

Finally we come to see the Migrant Fleet: Hell, I was eager to see some Quarians without masks. We need to see that in ME3. (This is utmost priority!)

Most of this is off topic, but oh well.
I had the Quarians pegged wrong.  I thought they were going to have this really sad story.  Truly exiled from the rest of galactic space both in sense of them not welcomed by other races for creating the geth and also unable to even accept visitors on board the fleet because just having someone on there would risk them to infection (I thought they didn't wear their suits on their ships).  Also that would make their exile punishment they give out be truly cold hearted.  Being cut off from the only place in the universe where you're both welcome and are able to take off the suit.  That would make the exiled Quarian truly a prisoner in his own suit which is also the only thing keeping him alive.  But the impression I got, (not even done with one play through yet) was that they're in the suits pretty much all the time.

But anyway, yeah I'm curious to see what they look like under there.

Ok, i played ME1 then ME2 (4 full run throughs from the intro) then played ME1 again, so i do not have the mental haze of "the good ole days" that some people have.

Some ME1 for a recap

i) The Mako was (and still is) horrible. Driving up mountainous ranges is not an idea of fun and having to use "slomo 5" to get somewhere without dying of boredom is not fun either. The new system of straight drop into the mission area is positive as well as being more logical (100m/20m "emergency" to drop a Mako safely and they drop me several clicks off from the destination point?!?)

ii) The lift scenes were fun (for those with banter among the team, not noveria/normandy lifts) but extremely irritating in slowness (c-sec to docking bay anyone), removal was a definite plus. In ME2, it would be nice to be able to "switch" channels ie to skip to the next news as i already heard the earlier ones. Also the silly ads were missed in ME1

iii) Inventory allowed greater customization but you ended up very likely 1 way. It was always a Frictionless Material X (when you hit the 50s) and something else along with likely sledgehammer rounds (explosive for sniper maybe). It brought 1 thing to mind though. A very varied artwork for weapons and armor. The armor varieties were extremely noticable and increased the fun factor. The weapon varieties were not so noticable but could fit the armor look (example the red sniper rifle (Striker) with the red armor (Mercenary) looked excellent, compared to a silver weapon (Geth)). No doubt some players look to the weapon stats but i believe the mix and match of your squadmate looks is a also a source of fun (Tali in particular looks better in bright colors eg Pheonix/Survivor armor than her standard purplish suit)

iv) Getting a lot of loot got boring late game when you already upgraded everything to your liking at level 10 quality. Slowly changing everything to omni gel was not fun and scrolling through a bunch of items that were not grouped nor sorted (and thus you saw Fusion Grenade upgrade, Incendiary Grenade upgrade, Cryo Grenade upgrade, Fusion Grenade upgrade [yes, again], ad nauseum) was not fun either. Probably someone would blame me for not selling the excess inventory and streamlining the stuff.

v) Missed having the interrupt system in ME1 (like when fai dan shot himself), brought home that it is an excellent improvement

vi) SR1 Normandy actually seemed emptier. I think it was because Pressley just kept repeating the same things while i could check with Kelly to hear some new stuff (everytime a new member was onboard) sometimes. Also the email system in ME2 made the bridge more enjoyable while i was constantly on the galaxy map in ME1.

vii) The removal of "Decontamination in Progress..." and "XO Pressley has the bridge" is a definite improvement. It was interesting for 1 time then became tedious. Not needing to run to the airlock to exit the normandy was also a minor but nice improvement in ME2

viii) Joker was not as interesting in ME1 as he had much fewer lines and no EDI to banter with.

ix) I missed the armor coloration for Shepard's own armor in ME2. It allowed me to use good armor with the color i liked. In contrast, i avoided the colossus armor even though it has excellent stats as i really found the red and black tones bleh.

Wishlist

i) Allow me to use my customised face from ME1 and adjust from there instead of having to redo using the default face. It may not seem like much but its valuable for those not using the default face, especially since most have probably forgotten how to get their customised face :D

ii) An increase in armor components would be great. Without the DLCs, the armor components are really few. Even with the DLCs, its noticable that several components have very few choices (leggings for example) compared to stuff like helmets (love the visor look but not the BDSM one :P)

iii) Please change planet scanning. I agree with most that its pretty boring but was forced to do it. Frankly late game, i was wondering why i could not simply buy the resources given my amount of credits. One could make a case that my credits lets me buy probes by the dozens so its a form of buying resources indirectly. Still it doesn't remove the tedium nor seem logical (omega should have plenty of smugglers selling resources)

iv) AI can still be improved. I ran though the suicide mission over 10 times through all runthroughs. Sometimes my squad mates were amazing (Jack running spearhead and throwing everyone aside). Sometimes my squadmates left me scratching my head and hoping an interrupt would appear so i could ask them "What the hell do you think you're doing? You lost your mind?!?", like taking cover behind a short cover that has a collector behind it and relaxing there while your tech is screaming "I'm being cooked alive"

v) An increase in the number of power slots, maybe 10. 4/power seems minimal though balanced by the level cap and point gain speed. Level grinders would probably like this more than most.

vi) Medigel to cover the constant time amounts need to let your health/shield regenerate. As long as you could not spam it like ME1, it should be balanced i think. It would reduced the times when you're behind a wall and waiting.. waiting.. waiting... though it would probably have reduced the final boss battle difficulty whose blast slowed your regeneration greatly

vii) Weapons could be increased and differeniated, Currently it defaults to your most powerful one (as in the newest one in weapon order), other than for heavy weapons. Differentiating weapons could be as simple as obvious differences in health/armor/shield penetration before power/equipment adjustments or more complex effect differences. Eg heavy damage/high ammo use disintegration (Cain's visual effects?) leaving no clips/treasure behind, sleep/extreme pain non lethal effects lasting until you leave the map (would have preferred to use non lethal in jacob's loyalty mission, and extreme pain would be peversely enjoyable vs some of the enemies that seem to have your number), confusion weapons (not AI hack but shooting at  the closest creature), movement restrictive weapons (less damage but more shots hit = slower movement, useful vs heavy enemies), etc

viii) Not sure if this is possible as the ME1 save is possibly not very complete in information and not sure if its totally carried forward into the ME2 save, but it would be nice if some of the extremely time consuming collection missions netted at least a minor acknowledgement, especially if you overshot your quota (such as the mineral collection that's supposed to help the alliance fleet expand)

ix) Increase in dialog choices and less obvious hints (currently in both MEs top = paragon, bottom = renegade). An increase in the great voice acting would be wonderful too as ME2 is already way better than ME1 in this aspect.

x) This is probably hard to add in but an increase in the number of  unarmed combat moves would be nice. If not an automated detection system to that i kick when the enemy is on the ground or crouching and elbow smash when he is standing

Minor stuff
i) Controls mismatch. During the planet scanning (if gone from ME3 then its not a problem), Esc brings you out to the Normandy if pressed twice. You need to press Esc once then click the back button. This particular interface is not particular intuitative and causes a lot of misclicks so you need to get back into the galaxy map again

ii) Getting stuck in the environment. Interestingly not as big a deal as it would be in other games due to the save system. I noticed that i happens most when i'm running. I get elevated and stuck unless i can interact with a nearby object which auto sets me beside it.

iii) Sniper rifle zooming seems off. It does not zoom to my cross hair's center, so i have to readjust once zoomed.

I imported my save from ME1 for the 360 and I could not change a thing. You can make a custom character when you start new in ME2, or you can use the default face. If i'm missing something go ahead and explain to me in all seriousness. I'd like to change at least my hair for ME2 if it's possible.

first i didnt read the 30 pages so somethings i will say might have been mentionded before.

i finnished my first playtrhought a few day ago and i got to say the game is great, but like all things , its not perfect!

so here are a few things i think need some improvment :

- cities , i mean com on , we play on a galaxy scale and they are just so tiny

-scanning planets, well that was fun at first but got borring after a while. and what is the point in keeping on scanning anyway. you need only a few full system to fully upgrade so i think some kind of commercial trade would be nice

- the normandy, i loved upgrading it and i think it would be nice to go further with that . another thing, i want some battle in space ffs its suppose to be a kick ass ship and you only explore systems to scan planets with a prob

-RPG well yes its suppose to be an rpg too i think the lvling was uselees here , i mean either make a real rpg or dont , but dont do this poor useless halfway thing

-sidequests , still not enought of those and i would love lil sidequest that could actually make a difference in the game

-the final line, when you finally get to use the omega 4 relay you have ( no spoleir ^^) anyway i think its too short. you play the alll game getting ready for it so i would have liked it to last a bit longuer and come on , when you see the size of the base , it just feels rediculous how fast you get to the heart of it. so my point , next time make it last, espacially if it's the grand final

I'll check when I get home.  But I'm pretty sure right after I imported my Shepard, it went to a list of the major choices I'd made, and then to the customization screen.  If you hit A right away, you'll use your same Shepard, but there was an option to recustomize her.  I thought that was the whole reason they went with cloning Shepard rather than reanimating her corpse (zombie style).

Anyway, I'll try when I get home and reply back to you letting you know.  Unless someone beats me to it of course.

A mobile avatar platform for EDI, enabling her to be a usable sqaud mate like Rommie from Andromeda. Would also be an amazing excuse to make it look like Tricia Helfer. Now she would make an amazing love interest!

...And when you select the option to recustomize, you get a generic custom face, not your old one. What I believe yuncas wants (and me too) is for the custom option to START with your face, and let you edit it, instead of switching to a generic face and making you rebuild your old face.

As for my wish list, I'd like toggleable helmets. I have several sets of bonus amor now in ME, and they all have their helmets welded on, which as cool as some of them look makes them completely unuseable for me. I like to see my character's face when they talk/interact.

Also, more random character banter between squadmates a la Dragon Age would be cool. And a bit more interactive dialog. Garrus said like 3 lines to me and spent the rest of my 60 hour playthrough calibrating the ship's guns. :P

Edit: For the record, I use the +10% headshot visor, as it both counts as a helmet (thus giving a bonus), and lets me see my face. If toggleable is not possible, then I would like to see a wider selection of visors like this. :D

More interection between your squadmates on a mission. When you take Legion to the fleet he says nothing, while they want to kill him (kind off). He's just standing there like nothing is happening.

Ah, I got you.  I misunderstood then.  i thought he was saying he could only use his old Shepard's face or the default face and that was it.  My bad there yuncas, didn't meant o get your hopes up.

I've only just started this week but here are my thoughts so far:

Striker257 wrote...
being teleported back to the normandy blows.

Big time. Having to reland on Omega 3 times to finish off all the missions there was more tedious than trying to get to the Prothean data sphere on Eletania. I see that there is a "Stay or Leave" system implemented, but why can't we truly STAY and finish up any side missions after completing a main quest?

I also miss the skill tree. It definitely could have been pared down a bit from ME1 (i.e. combine fitness & first aid into one), but it feels castrated here.

I am also one of the few that seems to miss the Mako. I replayed ME1 last week to refresh my memory and level up my import character, and it was not so bad this time around. If the steering was tightened up on it, it would be perfect. There were some long drives, but hey, that's life, right?

I miss that each power/biotic had it's own recharge time. Seems like we're fighting with one hand tied behind our back being forced to only use one at a time.

The jury is still out on the inventory. On the one hand, I am thankful that it is more streamlined, on the other, I liked pouring through my loot at the end of an assignment. I not a hoarder, so I would keep my stuff to a minimum and sell/convert stuff after every mission, which helped with the management.

The combat is VASTLY improved. The cover system in much more fluid now, and the addition of vaulting is great. Although I do kinda miss just pressing up to a wall, but I'll get used to that.

Health regen is much appreciated. It was a bit frustrating to have to keep looking down at the squad health bar in especially hectic battles.

Graphics are ridiculous (kudos to polishing the framerate and texture pop-in!), voice acting is superb, and I love how everything from ME1 is referenced in the sequel (news reports, Cerberus updates, reoccuring NPCs, etc)

The interrupt mechanic is awesome as well.

As for the Citadel? I dunno, it feels like the Ward that we visit is roughly the same size as in ME1 as far as number of shops and stuff is concerned. Frankly, I don't mind not having to jog a 1/2 mile between stores. I think because we don't really access the Presidium in this one is what is messing with people's heads.

Since 2 years has passed between ME1-ME2 and some time will undobtedly pass between 2&3 it would be nice to see the progression in technology that the alliance uses.(firearms, armor, tools, ships, etc.)

I will declare this once more. The codex gave us a very detailed explanation of how skirmishes in space work (Long range, ship to ship, dogfights etc) but next to none of it seen in the game.

So, Dear BioWare

As you play the Captain of the ship, can we please feel as if we are altering the outcome of a skirmish. Something like a basic "control the ship" (I do feel that this wouldnt be accurate as the captain is not the pilot/helmsmen) or giving commands to the rest of the bridge crew (If anyone played SEGAs Skies Of Arcadia, this was a perfect example...and it was the bollocks).

I loved the cinematics but it seems a shame to command a vessel and at the same time do f-all with it.

Oh for those complaining its not a RPG, ME2 is a 100% RPG. Stats do not make a RPG, mechanics do not make a RPG. It can be part of a RPG but not required. Google LARPing and see what pure RP actually means

I kind of found myself missing the customazation you had with your party members armor in ME1.  Made the characters feel a bit more unique as their looks would continue to change as you moved through the game.  ME2 severly limited this and simply put in an option to alternate character costumes, which was kind of lame.  Missed opening up a container and finding some kickass warlord armor for Wrex, or colossus armor for Tali.  Would have been kind of neat to have different armors for different members, or something like the customazation armor be used to change Shepard's armor as well as your party members' armor, just so you can give it your own touch if you want.  Would like to see something like this in ME3.  But whatever Bioware decides to put into their game, I'm sure its going to be an epic conclusion, to an epic trilogy.

1.) Bring back the Mako but this time with really well made surfaces and no identical colonies and structures. Adding fauna and more hostile envirnemntal hazards like Thresher Maws.

2.) Inventory like in ME 1 just with better optimized loot

3.) At least double the amount of available skills

4.) Remove ammo

5.) Improve on the heat system. Add more complexity to it.

6.) Complete the universe by adding all the lacking content like female turians.

7.) More to explore. We are in a gigantic universe yet we can nearly literally dance on the head of a pin only (Yoshimo quote for the win)?

8.) More skills. At least double the amount of skills in ME 2 or about 50% more compared to ME 1.

More options for specializations.

9.) Refrain from making so many illogical romances and add more depths to the ones we had since ME 1. Why oh why do most species think Shepard is so sexy that they want a hard ride on his rod (if male).

10.) More NPCs and liveliness in the cities. Actual cities to explore for real.

Just a quick brainstorm from my part.

I've really enjoyed ME1 and ME2. ME1 seemed richer to me. I loved the Mako and the exploration of the alien worlds. It was totally immersive. Yeah, there were bad planets, but if you paid attention to the topographical mapping and drive around things, you could avoid 90% of the problems.

I think that ME3 should have the concluding battle with the Rachni saving aliens and humans in the end against the Reapers with the chance that Shepard gave the queen in ME1 (if you selected that option to save her). It would be poetic justice.

I do like the advanced training ME2, allowing Shepard to change his top skill (I really like Reave or Geth sheilding). The option to redeploy experience points for the rest of the team would be more enjoyable too.

I found more poignant moments in ME1 than ME2. I hope there is more complete writing of ME3, more in line with ME1 than ME2. To me, the story line is everything...
