Along the same lines, give us some stats on the weapons and more on the armor. This would make it so much easier for us the choose one. Rather than; having to pick one, go on a mission to see how it feels, not liking it reloading the save, picking another one.
Being able to remove your helmet for conversations.
I will hold my thoughts on bringing back the Makko, till the Hamerhead DLC is released.
Maybe have times where you'll find squad mates talking to one another on the ship.
For gods sake give us back the health bars and medigel, this regenerating health system is gettting old and tired and have no place in RPGs.
No global cooldown for your abilites.
Here comes my biggest criticism, I loved the combat system hands down the best improvement from ME1. But ME2 feels too much like a Shooter with a great story and a bit of RPG elements, instead of a RPG with a great shooting mechanic.

I also agree on the global cooldown thing. It kills the idea of the game being more dynamic than it's predecessor. Being able of unleashing a killer combo with pull and throw for instance would be great!

My suggestions: Add some variety to weapons/armor not to the scale that ME 1 had bt maybe something like 4 variations on each weapon type for Shepard (depending on class/specialization of course) as opposed to the 2 for Shepard and +1 of one for certain team members specifically in ME 2.
Have upgrades be tactical. I.E. 1 or 2 per weapon at a time with variety possible like having an increased heat sink clip and damage bonus versus say 'old style' heat cool down clip and increased firing speed (or vice versa however you prefer) maybe add a scope/sight for the Assault Rifle or a Silencer for Pistol (jut throwing out thematic ideas of upgrades).
Armorwise: removable helmets, removable helmets, removable helmets. One of the awesome things for me in ME 1 and 2 was seeing *my* Shepard's expression during conversation. This however limited me from using the promo armors from Dragon Age, Collector's Edition, Terminus Armor et al.when I was going to any place I expected to have some conversation, I went an entire playthrough pretty much with just the headset (non promo). Even if it was something as simple as taking the helmet off to adjust my hair or wipe the sweat from my brow before initiating converstion (as a cinematic introduction that would be skippable for my less patient fellow fans possibly?) Or just the option to run around without a helmet from the preset armors normally as in ME 1. Either way being able to use the great looking armors wile still having the option to see my face/head/hair in conversations is one of my few complaints with ME 2 and something that I would hope to be rectified in the next iteration.
Power wise I liked many of the changes to powers from ME 1 to ME 2 (Warp was actually useful for my Adept 90% of the time vs 30% in ME 1). The change from specialization of a class to each individual power was also welcome as it made for some creative and devastating combintions with squad members. At first I didn't care for the global cooldown but as I got to higher levels and decreased the cooldown time I began to accept it. It works as a balancing mechanism for having fewer powers overall but it made life as an early level Adept a little harsher. I would suggest either adding a couple more powers (quantity) available for use early on or returning to individual cooldowns as in ME 1. I did like having the mission-lasting ammo 'buffs' and would like to see that continued with the elemental aspect. The point/xp system was a little difficult to deal with at first due to the rarity of skill points. I can see pros and cons to it versus the first game both had me reeling at early levels and towards endgame feeling like a bad mamba jamba. If I had a choice I would take something like a happy medium between the two. One base 40 versus 50 and 30 in ME1 and ME 2 respectively.
Resourcewise: Personally I preferred the scan to the running over a rock and tapping a timing game on the face buttons (xbox) but it would be nice if there was a little more to do with a planet than just strip mine it or land on a beacon. Perhaps discharging the drive core by landing on a planet and doing a local survey (similar to the linear away missions but more free roam with possible new species to catalog or clues to other planets for more linear away missions.
I classify credits/money as a resource but I want to separate it out: Money was a real pain my first playthrough (used a ME 1 character to start first ME 2 run). I feel there is a need to make it a little more available, either by accepting Council/Alliance/Cerberus missions, raiding a Blue Sun's smuggling base and grabbing a couple account numbers from their ledger or even selling some of those 'tedious' probe readings/mining claims to a Volus trader or something. Possibly even invest in a Noveria-based corporation the way a certain other person had (after all he was a Spectre too before and did it) and get a regular interest percentage returnd after each mission (read: option 1 put away some credits now to make more later or option 2 save it up big early/spend it cash on hand for upgrades sooner). The feeling in ME 1 was from Rags to Riches. In ME 2 it was from Riches to Living Beyond my means, spending all the money in the bank on my ship and having to pay the Medical Bills by mortgaging it even while I was flying around the galaxy. A little too Cowboy Bebop for me.
Finally: Just wishing here: A chance to unite old crew(ME1)/new crew(ME2) mix/add/replace with all new characters. Or to see old crew as leaders of their own groups to unite under my banner (still work with them just in larger scale ops) with new crew on Normandy. Beyond that I would like to see a certain Hanar in action, find out what happens to C.V. see Earth/Turian Homeworld/Asari Homeworld/Volus Homeworld/Salarian Homeworld et. al. Love interests I don't mind new ones, returning to old ones(ME1), continuing 'current ones' (ME2). Customization was great but more would be awesome of course, additional clothing/coloring options for it-crew standard uniform design/color customization maybe. Also want to meet Hackett in person.
All things said I thoroughly enjoyed ME 1 and 2 and hungrily await the third installment Bioware.

1) Samara as a love interest.
2) But not just that... for relationships with your characters to have a direct impact on the game. Similar to that of Dragon Age. Maybe some kind of percentage bonuses to certain stats or something.

However, on my second play through, the enjoyment of combat has reduced quite drastically, having 'mastered' the game. ME2 has the recurring pattern of throwing groups of enemies at you. Sure it was fun initially, but after 40++ hours of playing it, it kind of felt like it was bordering being filler combat. It was only then that I wished there were more depth to combat than what we have for ME2. By that I mean, introducing three things.
First, more enemy dynamics. An example of enemy dynamics in ME2 is the Harbinger and Collector Drones. Tactically speaking, it's usually better to kill all Collector Drones present before slaying Harbinger, so as to starve him of bodies to take control. Otherwise you'll find yourself having to fight him unnecessarily more often as he reappears back in the body of another drone again and again.
Second, introduce unique set piece battles like those of Dragon Age.
Third, randomize enemy strategies, AI, positioning and make up, so that combat would not be the same on any two play through. Sort of like what you see in Bioshock or STALKER.

I kinda wanna see some of the "missing" people.... Like where are the Turian Females? Salarian Females? Or even Krogan Female? I wanna see how Bioware has envisioned them. I mean all the Asaris are nice and all but where's the rest of em?

@figurae9 100 % agree!
And for romances, I quote myself:
Rappeldrache wrote...
(Sorry for my english!)
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DEAR BIOWARE!
- Please make better romances. Not so MANY, but with a better quality and a bit longer.
Romances like in Dragon Age please! Where is the person who made the romances for females in Dragon Age (Alistair & Zevran) - they are GREAT! Please take this person to your team. Give him / her more money, your cars, your souls, everything he / she wants!
- Please make better male romances. Give us Han Solo, Jack Sparrow or Brad Pitt, (young) Clint Eastwood, George Clooney - males. Give us a good-looking AND cool man. Most of us don't want to date strange looking man - human or not.
- Please give us the KAIDAN / Ashley / Liara romance (back) in Mass Effect 1, 2 AND 3. Give us a DLC for ME2 with a Liara / Kaidan / Ashley romance possibility. In ME2 they can not come with us and must stay on citadel / Illium. Everytime we want to love-talk with them we must fligh to citadel / Illium.
- Please make romances for F/F and M/M. I'm female and hetero (so I would not play a romance like this), but I think everybody should have a nice romance in this game!
- Please look at the nice ideas here in the forum for Mass Effect 3: Marriage, children and so on. Most of us LOVE a nice, classical relationship AND happy end. Give us a chance to get it.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DEAR BIOWARE!

If that's true then I wish to bring it back for ME3.

Just to summarize my previous points:
-have multiple ending missions/campaigns in ME3 the way Dragon Age has multiple starting campaigns, based either by choosing a plan of action at the Point of No Return or determined by your major past choices (perhaps choices made through ME1, 2 and 3)
-make a Special Edition of ME1 (and possibly 2) after ME3 comes out that adds the improvements of 3 to the previous ones to make a more consistant series (maybe add some bonus material to ME1 to boot)
But talking about romance and character interaction has brought to mind something. I know you're the hero of the game, but that doesn't mean the universe has to revolve around you. I'd like to see more interaction between other characters between each other, not just with Sheppard.
Now, on the one hand you have what they did in Dragon Age, with idle banter between characters as you ran from mission to mission. That's good. There's a little of that in ME2 (Garrus and Tali on the Citadel), but I'd like to see more.
But what I mean is, well, why does every conversation have to revolve around you eventually trying to hump every female character (or male if you're female)? I wanted to get to know people better, but not necessarily get in their pants (I was playing it faithful) and I found that most character interaction got cut off once you did the "let's be friends" talk.
Wow, guess Billy Crystal WAS right in When Harry Met Sally.
But aside from that, why couldn't you perhaps interact with other people in other ways. For example, Kelly expresses interest in Garrus at one point. It would be neat if you were able to hook NPCs up if you felt there was something there. Some hookups might work out, and others might actually end badly. What if instead of pursuing Miranda you thought she and Jacob deserved another shot together?
Guess what I'm saying is it would be nice if there was a sense that people had lives outside of how you fit into it.

also in me 3 can we make asualt rifles a choice to be semi auto cause tht one asualt rifle in me2 pissed me of cause i just fired 5 shot burst all the time and died i like to empy full clips into my enemies not 5 shots and more ammo to if were gonna have ammo i mean i had the best asualtrilfe and the dam ammo runs out to fast
and the last thing i would like to see in me3 is more ammo on the dam powerful snipers the annoyed me to i just kept M-97 Viper Sniper Rifle becauseit fired the fastest and had the most ammot but was fairly weak i liked the M-98 Widow Anti-Material Rifle it was a powerful sniper but you could have gave it as much ammo as the M-97{smilie}

Please add the double click to select items in lists (including saved games). A rusty PC user like me is so used to it that I keep using double click and keep wondering why it doesn't work.
