Might work. They did it in Baldur's Gate 2 - both love triangle and your loved one dumping you for a period of time

Personally I want....

1. Bigger, more explorable Citadel (like in ME1)

2. More ways to make money (I miss being able to sell stuff....heck I miss having stuff to sell in general)

3. Bring back planet exploration. I am not saying get rid of the scanning (though it would be nice if it didnt take 10 min to make the mofo depleted) but add some planets to just hop on down in the mako and drive around.

4. I would love to see homeworlds....eg Earth, Thessia, and maybe some colonies that you can go to when they are not under attack........also let us revisit the colonies and places we went to (like we could with Faros and Noveria) after we completed our mission

I may sound picky, but *sigh* I just miss some of the things that were in ME1.......(mainly the exploration and awesome locals eg Citadel, Noveria....although Illium and Omega are cool)

1. Epic Space Battles- Who here doesn't want to take control of the
Normandy and kick some Reaper ass. Imagine maneuvering through space,
dodging ships, and firing lasers. All the while **** is blowing up
around you.

2. Love Interests return as squad members- Miranda was awesome.  I really hope she returns as a squad member. Please Bioware put her back into my squad. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. More Loyalty missions- These were easily the highlights of Mass
Effect 2. I really hope for the next game squad mates get multiple
loyalty missions or at least branching off missions based on the
decisions you make.

I've been going over these and it seems we all want more guns, armor, assignments, higher level cap

old biotic powers and genral depth.(And yes I probably missed somthing or put one in somone

disagree's with.Thats besides the point) The rest is mostly personal preference.

[The point]

These are not sweeping changes or new inovative idea's and (as of right now) I cant think of any

So lets we do a recap of the best idea's we've heard beside's those listed above. wich I will call

GAALC=Guns-Armor-Assignment-LevelCap

And Mossfoot I ment the obscene codex amount as a good thing. :)

Personally, I love Mass Effect 2, and I love the direction that the story unfolds in. However, there are so many ways that the story could be taken, and I just thought I would open a general thread reflecting that.

I know that everyone has an opinion on gameplay, and how Bioware should change the style to either more to an RPG or to shooter, and I want to address that before anything else. The bottom line is that the creators are going to take that in whatever direction they think will be more popular with the general public. That said, shooters are the big thing now, and ME3 will probably be a remnant of an RPG at best (Sorry RPG fanboys, this next part is just my opinion).
Even so, I would actually love it if ME3 did go almost completely shooter, and BioWare added multiplayer. (I know I can't be the only one who wants it) A squad based multiplayer that involved RPG upgrade elements (on par, or above that of MW2) would be an absolute hit online. Bio isn't known for multiplayer, though, and my wish will probably not come true.

On to what BioWare does better than anyone else, STORY!

There are three main things that I want from ME3                                                                                                                        (one is a personal preference, the others I'm sure many people  will agree on).

  1. Mass Effect needs to finish what it started, especially with former and current squad members.
ME1 characters simply made ten minuet cameos, which was hardly satisfying. One of my biggest fears for               ME3 is that the ME2 characters that lived are seen walking by on the Citadel or something and Shepard says           some awkward one liner. Then they part ways. Honestly, for everyone to get their way, all squad-mates from             both games will have to be potential squad-mates along with some new faces for players that don't care                  about carrying over the team. I'll leave that up for debate in the thread, since many people already addressed          this.

2.  I have two problems with the romance options in the Mass Effect series. A) You can only have one (Excluding           side romances that don't affect the story much),  and B) No, matter who is is, the romance ends just before the       final mission (again, just talking about LI romance options.) It's is a linear style of romance options that works,       but could be addressed, at least. The romances should be "open," in the sense that everyone is available for         romance (including synthetics, all races, and same-sex options). [Just so everyones clear, I do not condemn          or condone Homosexuality, sex with other species, or sex with artificial intelligence. (thought I'd cover that to            avoid a "Political ****storm" -Consular/Ambassador Udina)]

3. (My personal Preference) I absolutely think that BioWare is wasting something if they do not expand on        t            teammate rivalries in the third game. To expand, the rivalries appear in the second game, after certain                      members of the team become loyal. There are two, or three that may or may not occur. one is with between two      biotics one is with two tech experts, and one is between a mother and daughter (anyone who has played the          game knows what I mean and may or may not count the last one.) Out of the three, one was resolved in an epic      way. I think that the other two should be resolved (considering that both characters in question lived) in even            bigger ways, with even more insane scenes. The two tech experts especially need to have something done            with their rivalry, because they share ancestry on the same home world and could pit total war against each            other, hopefully forcing Shepard to pick a side, use his Paragon/Renegade options to avoid the situations, or         watch them rain hell down on each other and get themselves both killed. (My choice.) Plus, there could be ME1-     ME2-ME2 cross game conflicts. In any case there is definitely major untapped potential in the rivalries.

five things to add in ME3

1 This may seem minor to you but... BIGGER FONT PLEASE! I have great vision and hald the text I could not read!
2 Continue the changing mood. ME2 is much more serious and adult like then ME1. I hope ME3 continues this.
3 Bigger citadel plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
4 ME2 had great shooting and choice making but not enough RPG elements.
5 THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT!!1!!!!!1111!!!!! - WHATS UNDER TALI'S MASK?!/!?!?!Image IPB

More than anything I want the stupid ammo system gone. It doesnt make sense and just hinders gameplay. Switching from the old system to the new one is like switching from a circuit breaker to a fuse box. A hybrid of the two would be best, where once you overheat you can pop in a new thermal clip and keep shooting rather than having it so that each clip can only withstand a certain amount of shots.

I forgot to add one or two bits,
I know it was hated but I liked the elevator rides better than the chart with movement loading screen......I don't know, I just felt more a part of the universe while waiting for my floor to come.

I hope your Love Interest plays a bigger role in ME3 (whether from ME1 or 2)

And with the ammo system, I dont know the heat sink clips are just sort of seems meh, personally I say go back to the cooling system, but maybe with more heat generation

oh and helmet on off option like in the first.........I dont want to keep going back to my room to put on and off my helmet

This is a really thoughtful list. Figuar9 I can agree with you  on many levels. Not so big on teh inventory coming back BUT. #1 the citadel. (too small120% agree) Wtf the coucil is reserved to a balcony now. #2 the desire to have freakish high level enemies and perhaps even places where enemies are insultingly weak compared to you , would be entertaining with the right plot attached to it.

Think of how Superman was to humans. Take Sheperd to a planet where he or she seems physically all powerful by comparison.

(SWeeeet idea , no? Think about it bioware!)

Eitherway I DO however appreciate Biowares minimalist style. Less RPG hording and more plot development and interaction.

I have some minor request that make a major difference.

I found Jack and Jacob almost always have something to say to each other earlier on in the game. It didn't last through out every planet but other characters should really have more to say about or to each other while you're roaming the citadel or well anywhere that seems interesting for that matter. They should be stealing more from their own book. Kotor is where I fell for character interaction devoid of my own desire to hear or trigger them talk.

Last and not least I'd like a few opportunities to really play with the renegade/paragon impulse movements.  I'd like to press R push someone out a window  Press L quickly grab them . Continue a conversation with them while their life hangs in the balance then chose to press L or R to pull the back to safety or shoot them in the face and watch them fall..

Oh and Loyalty to a renegade should result in some options to make my team strong arm or murder the innocent. Just putting that out there. Get the true evil Sheperd experience down pat.

Anyway Mass Effect 2 is an orgasmic game to begin with. They build on that and they're doing Gods work. Or the Devils. Eitherway it's supernatural.B)

Hi I don't generally post onto forums but i hope the devs take note.

The only thing that makes this version of the game actually seem long is scanning for resources. On that note I truly hate that system they have come up with there. bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeem probe away wash rinse repeat on so many many many worlds arrrrggggghhhh. I actually fell alseep doing that lol.
These things I miss :

1) worlds to explore properly in the mako
2) Scanning rocks ( how screwed up is that !!! )
3) Truly self upgradeable weps and armour where I can decide what I want best.
4) Awesome side quests that aren't resolved in 20 mins tops
5) Proper mass effect weps like those from ME1 that you don't have to reload only worry about overheat.
6) Truly awesome biotic graphics and moves not just glowy armour.

Please for ME3 bring back the ME 1 combat and commercial system as ME2 has left me feeling that this is now an 89%FPS and 11%RPG game where it used to be really well balanced. In ME 1 it took me months to earn all my awards whilst in ME 2 99% were done on the first playthrough. I must have played ME1 20-30 times but i enjoyed every occasion just for the sheer enjoyment and playability the first game gave me
On a plus the Normandy does look awesome superb so well done there BIOWARE Image IPB

Even if it's only in as an upgrade I want individual charge times on biotic abilities, I was forced to rely on my guns to the point I stopped using biotics even as a biotic specialist.

How about some of the kids my sleeping around should have produced start showing up?

I can just imagine my child with Tali being allergic to himself.

I would love to see the return of light armour; the heavy-looking sets just don't suit femShep. I liked the armour from the first cutscene; also, armour in navy blue, the guardian set was my favourite.

Also a Garrus-style visor would be cool :3

Most of my issues with ME2 are aesthetic, although I do miss the mako, but it's an incredible game. Need a few more skill points too.

I've only played Mass Effect 2 (and it's also been 3 days) but I'm in love with it already. It creates a wonderfully immersive and fun. A couple things I would like to see in the third one:

1. A longer main plot. There are a plethora of side quests and missions which I find awesome, but so far I feel like the entire thing so far was too simplified (few main actual plot points). The aggregation of the squad as one of the main plot drivers didn't really seem to affect the overall plot so far. I like the missions in recruiting people, but I think they should be optional. That way, there's more room for a longer, intricate storyline. I think it actually occured in ME1 but yeah, there was too much of a focus on collecting everybody in ME2 imo. The main plot elements are great so far, why not emphasize more on that?

2. More armors/weapons. I've played around 10 hours and I've gotten about 3 pieces of armor. I change colors every time before a mission so I feel like I have more sets. The DLC armors look cool but the majority of people do not have access to them. Also, some more casual outfits that can be unlocked would be nice as well.

3. More to do after beating the game. Something that can entertain once you've unlocked everything. Maybe like a mode where you can replay missions/enter a place and fight off endless waves of enemies.

Rebuttal to first person combat: 3rd person was fine, cover system wouldn't really work with first person. If you want an FPS go play bioshock.

-LI's need to return and be recruitable (assuming you didn't let them die) (ME1 & ME2)

-Char's need to be a bit more reactive to what's going on (in terms of dialogue) and have a bit more interaction

-Skill/Ability tree could be a bit more fleshed out, though I prefer the hack/bypass system of ME2 rather than skill dependant one

-Longer main mission (though I do love the loyalty missions, the main mission seemed a bit short in ME2 by comparison)

-Multiple endings are obviously going to be in there (I would assume), but while people seem to love the sad and dramatic these days, a "happy end" option (including your LI) should also be included/attainable for hopeless romantic goody-two-shoes like me ;)

that would be my wishlist anyway :)

I enjoyed the game except for some elements of combat.

For ME3 my wish is a for change to the combat controls. It's extremely frustrating to try and sprint out of a crossfire only to get stuck on the side of a box. Or be ducked behind cover and try to sprint to another location only to find yourself climbing right out into a firezone. I visit the Critical Mission Failure menu plenty due to my own mistakes. Please at least split Sprint from using the same button as Use/Cover. In fact, it might be useful to have a pure duck/crouch button. There are several spots in the game that look exactly like other spots you can use for cover but don't allow you to crouch down.

Another wish for the combat system is to allow toggling to a 1st person perspective. There are multiple spots in the game where if you try to zoom in with a sniper rifle, your view to the target becomes blocked. There's no real way to tell when this will happen, but rest assured, it will certainly happen when you are in the middle of an intense firefight where every second and shot count.

Iwould be great if ME3 used a standard FPS control scheme for movement in combat similar to games like Borderlands, Crysis or Quake. Just to be clear, I'm only talking about for combat movement. (Although mapping selected weapons to buttons would be cool)

ed: spelling

Since you're making sleazier and cheesier romance sublplots with each new game, give us a full blown roman-style orgy that would make Caligula blush. It should be a very difficult thing to unlock, but if you do all the right steps in the right order, you can have 40 crew members greased naked on the bridge, a donkey, a midget and various toys. I also want a harem like Gaius Baltar in season 3 of Battlestar Galactica.

Crossposting, as my suggestion for ME3:

Does anyone here like to see more large-scale combat scenarios in Mass Effect 3 (or Mass Effect 2 DLC for that matter), i.e. combat where two large groups of people actually engage in combat instead of taking on entire battalions with just a single fire team of 3 people? While Mass Effect 2 does give us one of the largest combat groups seen in both games with the suicide mission (provided you actually got all the people you need), they were still simply part of a cutscene, and not an element you could see/interact with in the actual combat segments. Gameplay wise, you only had knowledge of the other fire teams being present, but you never actually see them in action. Unavoidable given the story, but I do wish for more combat scenarios where you're actually engaged in a firefight at at least platoon-level (in military parlance, numbering 25-50 soldiers). Even seeing at least a couple of more squads assisting your own in combat would be nice.

Case in point are combat scenarios present in ME1 and ME2 where there were other allied combatants supporting your troops: For example, fighting with Alliance Marines against a Rachni Hive in ME1, or Kal'Reegar supporting you in ME2 (should you have chosen the option). However, these are still small engagements with only a handful of support at best. Given that Mass Effect 3 is supposed to be the epic finale to the trilogy, having ground combat on a larger-scale might definitely help set the mood for more intense and more satisfying combat.

I'm not asking for EVERY engagement to be large-scale (which given Mass Effect's nature is simply impossible). However, there is a certain satisfaction to be had in knowing that you're actually maneuvering against a large group of enemies with numbers of your own, rather than the feeling that you're smashing through entire armies with just 3 people (mind you, that sort of us vs the world combat gives a different feeling of satisfaction).

I think the closest we're getting to what I'm describing is the Archangel recruitment mission: Even as you just walk around you can still see for yourself that there are other people already engaged in combat, like Vorcha firing out from cover or a freelancer getting shot right there on the battlefield instead of being part of a cutscene.

My suggestion is more a presentation issue really, rather than an actual gameplay mechanic. And it's not like this hasn't implemented in Mass Effect before: the Virmire battle is supposedly a large-scale battle where you have Salarian STG working together with your fire team on the same objective. Now what if you could actually see the Salarians you're actually fighting with, maneuvering and firing in the combat space, shooting and getting shot in return, rather than just being radio transmissions or cutscenes? Wouldn't that be a somewhat more exhilarating combat scenario than just the 3 vs 20+ firefights we've had until now?

End Of Mission:

eternalnightmare13 wrote...

Get
rid of the 'End of Mission' screens that recap the stats of the mission
I just completed. UGH! Way to kill the immerision factor Bioware! Why
not just list this under the options where it can keep a tally of how
many kills etc etc etc. In DA:0 there's a seperate page for all that.
Please get rid of it, I feel like I'm playing friggin' Splinter Cell or
some **** and not an immersive action/rpg.

I actually like it, maybe have the "End of Mission" as a toggle option? It helps me know what effect the mission had. What
completing the missions gives me or does. I like the insight of the
Illusive Man on the events with the occasional reference to spying on
the people for future options.

Spectre Gear: (Could be DLC for ME2)

I AM a Spectre (Just ask the Council), Why am I not referred to as such. It feels like I'm working for Cerberus in ME2, that I'm just a Alliance soldier in stead of a "spear of humanity". I would love to get some spectre weapons and armor.

Also,
Where are the other Spectres? All we've met so far are a deed turians.
I'd like to meet and perhaps compete with another Spectre. Imagine, if
the Council truly believes you went wrong, they would send another
Spectre to find out if you are and to stop you.

Opposing Force:

This
goes with the Spectre idea, but I would like to feel like I'm competing
against the enemy. In ME1, I felt like I was playign catch-up with
Saren, in ME2 I'm searching for the enemy, but in ME3 the climax is going to occur. The Reapers are going to have a plan to do something against the galaxy.

Shepard
needs to feel like the missions is just one false step from giving the
enemy an advantage in the battle to save organic life.

Mass Effect 1 Love Interests:

As mentioned before, The love interestes from ME1 gave shafted for the new LI, which is basically every member of the crew. I want to see and have my character.
It feels like my relationship with them is gone. No one even asks if
I'm in a relationship. But if I pursue a person, then they are all for
it. Heck, the LI in ME2 will go after me even if I didn't flirt with
them.

I want to have my ME Love Interest treat ME like a love interest and not some yahoo.

Mass Effect 1 Choices have an effect.

Yes,
we have references to some things and cameos by small characters. But
the bigger decisions just don't seem to have any affect. yes I ran into
people form Feros & Noveria, but aside of the Noveria Experiment alien, there is nothing of particular meaning for the wider galaxy.

I
was even expecting to go to Feros to protect it from the Enemy...nope.
Liara just sits around. And the only mission with meaning seems to be
the one of Noveria with a character that states they will help us in
the battle of our enemy. Which is hinted to be the Reapers.I would love to see that in  ME3.

t
no matter whether the Council is pro-human or saved from death, they
still put down the truth and hide my real accomplishments. Not to
mention no trust or materialistic support.

Fix Plot Holes:

As a spacer Shepard has family, but they are no where to be seen in ME2. So much for the big reunion of the son/daughter they thought dead.

As
a sole survivior, Shepard's team got destroyed by an attack
orchestrated by Cerberus. in ME1, Shepard meets a friend of his that
escape testing. But in ME2, that is all
forgotten and not even mentioned when Shepard is confronted with
working with Cerberus. That isn't even reconciled, it's just dropped
like an unwanted child.

More Ship interactions:

I love having Kelly aboard as my assistant. But I'd like to have more scenarios where I would work with my XO (Pressly in ME1, Lawson in ME2) to fix the ship, motivate/direct the crew, perform duties Captains of a ship.

I want an improved upgrade system for the Normandy, instead of a one-way system, i'd
like branching choices for choosing the kind of focus you wnat the
Normandy to have. Improve Stealth, Defensive Combat, Offensive Combat,
Research/Scan abilities, other upgrades.

Less Loading Screens:

kai769 wrote...

There needs to be no break in game play
for loading screens, it is better to hide loading time with animations,
like the elevator rides and the door scanner, it would be really great
if lets say, you walk up the boarding ramp to the Normandy, you go into
the airlock, the door closes behind you, the scanner starts, it scans
you a few times, the inner door opens, you go onboard, NO apparent
loading, it should be the same with landing on a planet, the ship
arrives in orbit, you go to the armoury and get your gun and armour,
you get on the lift, the lift goes down, you get off in the shuttle
bay, you walk up to the shuttle, open the door and get in, the shuttle
takes of and flies into the planet, with you sitting in the cockpit,
when it arrives at the open map you take control, and choose where you
land, you get out and start the mission, once again No apparent loading.

Mineral Mining:

spcul0 wrote...

On the other hand I enjoyed detecting anomalies planetside, if the
mining game had used this sort of technique, eg a rich planet has 4
major resource deposits and you use the anomaly detecetion method to
find them it would have made it feel more tolerable.

I like using the minerals versus the flagging of the first game.

Maybe
as someone else mentioned, have a few projects set as primary where the
resources would be allocated automatically. So that people don't have to go back and forth from the map and research terminal.

Weapons:

Less Linear progression of weapons and more details in the Weapon selection for them. Such as Fire rate, ammo capacity. I cannot be expected to remember that.

Character Customization:

Why is my Spectre wearing Cerberus uniforms? I want to change the uniform to NOT CERBERUS! My character would not wear Cerberus uniform nor would they wear the Hercules getup.

I
want to be able to show who my Shepard is by what he wears. Shepard is
a military person, they would wear military uniform. Especially if they
have a bad history with Shepard.

The N7 Armor is iconic I know,
but the armor needs to be fleshed out. More armor pieces to mix and
match. The DLC armor NEEDS to be as customizableas the DLC  ARMOR. At least the color.

More patterns for the Armor. More colors like black for the pattern.

Allow players to edit the features of the imported characters. And allow us to add scars without being an ugly Renegade.

Other Stuff:

-Skorpious- wrote...

4) Don't sideline the characters of the suicide mission

I will reiterate, bold, and cap to ensure my point will get across - DON'T SIDELINE THE CAST OF MASS EFFECT 2.

However,
since potentially every teammate can die on the mission, this is a very
delicate situation. I would be insulted, and quite frankly, turned off
if the entire cast of ME:2 is thrown away in the third installment
simply because of the nature of the suicide mission. What would be the
point of Mass Effect 2 if the characters we spent our time recruiting
and getting to know end up getting replaced by a cast of unknowns?

5 ) Bring party banter back

In
Mass Effect the elevator rides were enjoyable because of the
conversations between squadmates. In Mass Effect 2 however, your
teammates barely even acknowledged each other. It really irritated me
that Liara and Wrex recognized Shepard but ignored Tali and Garrus.

Edit
- DAO did an excellent job with party banter, and is something that the
Mass Effect team should take notes from when designing ME:3.

No Fuel, with less opportunities to earn money, the fuel just hinders the ability to find missions further.

Better font for SD tvs. Better background for subtitles and conversation choices. Sometimes the font is obscured due to the background color matching the choice.

While playing, some things came to my mind that would enhance the player's experience. Hope some of them make it way to ME3 ;P

1) SHOOTING STUFF

a) Thermal Clips aren't a bad idea: It makes perfect sense that someone would create a system to prevent overheating the weapon. The problem lies in the fact that you can't shoot at all without a thermal clip. It should have been made so that you could shoot too without thermal clips, but then your weapon would overheat very fast. Not being able to shoot doens't make much sense according to what we know from the codex

B) Do i really need to stand behind a cover before jumping over it? This approach is similar to Gears of War, and imo isn't much confortable and seems kind stupid when you have to jump over a some covers to progress.

2) RPG STUFF

a) Stats: what happens to guns stats? how i'm supose to know which is better, which is more accurate, etc. ME1 was perfect in that sense. Also, showing all the stats that your current armor has, including upgrades, would be nice, so you don't need to run around all the armor parts or upgrades to know how they are going to perform in battle

B) Level Points: imo, reducing the abilities number wasn't all that bad, afterall it gave oportunity for more unique characters and powers (love the "evolve power" at max rank). BUT having to spend more than 1 point to upgrade a power is kind a let down.. it's preferable to improve point by point, in a way that you see you getting better as you progress through levels, without having to wait till you before points or whatever

c) Research: Research and mass producing weapons is very cool indeed and makes sense in the universe, but it should not be at the cost of shopping. I think it would be better to have the ability to buy and sell stuff, upgrades included, and maybe the research could give you different paths, making customization of weapons more variable and personalized.

3) CHARACTERS

a) More relations, conflicts and conversations between characters. I loved Garrus picking on Tali while on Citadel, things like that should get expanded, it gives you more immension and enhances your experience of a vivid world. Conflicts like Tali and Legion and Miranda and Jack where amazing too.

4) EXPLORATION

a) Plat Scanning: while very cool at first, it gets very boring at the end of the game. IMO it takes too much time to explore a planet and get all of its resources, and even then you don't get much. Anomalies are cool, and maybe the way to go. Having a planet have some anomalies, like 5 (more or less according to planet resources), and in each, an amount of resources. It would be faster, as cool, and you wouldn't have to spend much time scanning a planet until you get it 'dry'.

B) "Side Planets": having planets outside of the main quest events, where you could shop, talk to people and get some expansive side quests. It would enable for more place to visit without sacrificing the main story events.

5) HUD

Just an opinion. Maybe i missed something, but even after finishing the game once, i still don't know what the "white bar" or "white 1/4circle" means on squad members stats. Being able to see their health and shield more clearly, like in some early developtment screenshots we got of the ME2 would be better
-----------

I guess that's all at the moment. Would love to see some of the other players input on some of my opinions.
