Most of ME1 and ME2 crew can return as squadmates for ME3 but you can only choose up to a certain number: half of your crew will be members from ME1 and ME2 while the other half will be mandatory ME3 recruits. In order to fill your "roster" you will need to balance your roster with specialists and leaders (much like how ME2's end battle worked). If you end up recruiting all soldier types then when you go to fight the reapers, you'll be in trouble.
Reason for only being able to recruit so many from the old ME1 and ME2 teams is that the reapers are coming, you don't have time to assemble a big squad. You need to get who you need, quickly, and then move out to take the fight to the reapers - in speculation that is.
Thus a sort of "timer" will be needed. You can do all the side missions you want in preparation but for the recruitment (and maybe loyalty missions?) you can only do a certain number until the time has come to defeat the reapers before they defeat the combined galctic forces - whatever those will be.
Again, very shaky theory that is flooded with holes and built entirely on speculation but... it looks like it can make mostly everybody happy.
Go ahead, flame away.

2. Love Interests return as squad members- Miranda was awesome. I really hope she returns as a squad member. Please Bioware put her back into my squad. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3. More Loyalty missions- These were easily the highlights of Mass
Effect 2. I really hope for the next game squad mates get multiple
loyalty missions or at least branching off missions based on the
decisions you make.
This, plus...
1. Bring back your ME2 squad members if they didn't die. Or else have a damn good reason why they aren't back (not like "oh hey I'm doing something else now, sorry can't join up with you")
2. Continue the story of the loyalty missions from ME2 (example: how Thane's son is doing, perhaps Cerberus is building another Subject Zero-esque facility)
3. Thane.

A full explination of the plot.
A scene where Shepard talks to Harbinger, like how he talked to Sovereign in ME1.
A Curling Mini-game.
Visit Earth, Illos, Hanar Homeworld, and *spoilers* Collector Base provided it did'nt go boom.
Hanar/Elcor/Volus Squadmate.
A sizeable portion of the squad back to be potential Squadmates, (not mandantory, though)
Armor and Weapon and more hair style customization.
I want a Presley "Blondbomb shell" type WWII designs on the side of my ship.
Oh and a optional F-bomb language censor.

2-More armor parts for your char and others.
3-More rpg
4-scanning more like me1
5-codex scanning
6-more open spaces in the planet citys you visit like me1 had
7-drive-able stuff
8-more hair'/beard/make up options
9-more side quest number 2 really lacked here.
10-bring back the thermal ammo like number one had..Or least tell us in a story plot why it was changed up
11-make it more sand-boxed when you land on a planet/what I am saying is least give us more options to venture down more paths instead of one set path..
12-let us make our own custom icons for our armor so we may stand out from others,,
13-bring back special ammo/armor upgrades..(number one had it so you could put that stuff in your wep's and armor..which worked great.
14-fix the cover system,it was a tad broken in number 2..
Yep this about covers my argument of what number 3 need's..To be honest I was not really pleased with number two it lacked in alot of stuff that made number one so great to play.

Moar side missions would be nice/locations and planets that have more value than simply mining
A greater selection of weaponry would be nice
For the love of God, show Tali's face; we all want to know what quarians look like, the suspense is killing us.
Shiala as a romantic interest and party member (in the next game). Her main quest could somehow involve her fully regaining her biotic powers. I like the green skin pigmentation tho, that could be kept to make her more unique.
If you chose an alien as your love interest that isn't Asari, Mass Effect 3 should offer a short dialogue where siring a human/alien hybrid is discussed (genetically engineered, not naturally conceived) Opting for a hybrid child could get you renegade points; I feel it would add more legitimacy to the alien/human relationships. Probably won't happen, but it was worth a shot.
While I'm at it, why not triple the size of the original Normandy and make it a tactical assault carrier; a few fighters, a couple of dropships, cloaking and some serious firepower; these could all be independent ship upgrades that you have to purchase, and perhaps the option could even exist to purchase a garrison of soldiers for the Normandy where their armor, weapons and training could be sub-upgrades. It would certainly make ship-to-ship warfare more interesting, if not more manageable.
MOST important of all, for ME3 a legitimate footsoldier, or footsoldier classes must exist for the Reapers; genetically engineered cyborg Shepard clones, whatever so long as it is a ground enemy that shoots at you and doesn't stumble clumsily toward you like a crack addict trying beat you up for your lunchmoney (yes, I'm talking about husks)

I like the weapon inventory system as is. More guns doesn't mean more variety, it just meant more crap to sell. Maybe give us a variety up front and then we could just choose what we prefer for our play style (For example, I like the burst fire assault rifle, putting 3 shots into something without muzzle rise is fantastic, my friend hated it and preferred the full auto and higher ammo capacity AR). That said, the different weapons in each class should have noticeable differences. I didn't use shotguns much, but when I did, I couldn't tell if one was any better than another.
I see a lot of requests for more side quests... I'd prefer more quests tied to the main story or to character development of squad mates, Loyalty quests ruled, I thought I was just going to hate Jack... a psycho murderer didn't seem like she'd fit on a team with Shep (at least the way I played him), but after the loyalty quest and a few conversations with her, I really liked the character.
Especially if ME3 is a huge finale, does Shep really have time to stop at an unfashionable planet in the middle of nowhere to see if a crate full of mechs has a computer virus? He's probably got enough on his plate what with the Reapers and all.
More conversations with team mates. Even in the form of random banter while on missions. Like Tali complaining about the cold on Noveria in ME1, anything to add more little bits of depth to the characters.
I like the customizable armor system, I agree with the requests for more variety.
Resource trading. Let me trade like 5 units of Iridium for 1 unit of Platinum, anything to shore up my supply of elements I had trouble finding when scanning. Also, selling of surplus resources for cash, I would have loved to offload my extra 300,000 Iridium and 200,00 Palladium I had when I couldn't afford the last 2 upgrades on Tuchanka on my first ME2 playthrough
I'll beg here now... please... please... bring back my surviving team mates as team mates... if they must be forced to cameo appearances, I'd hope there is more than one scene with them. I've spent a lot of time getting to know these people, I'd hate to see them all turn angry and stop being my friends or start refusing to help me solve a galactic crisis.
Lastly... I hate mini-games... I swear to god if I have to race and breed Makos for hours and hours to get the ... the Knights of the Round materia..., I will punch a kitten. That said, I am fine with how the hacking and circuit board thingy work now.

Choices made in main plot create more missions in gameplay after the main plot.
Temporary squad members (i,e, small resistence group, group of alliance soldiers) that you control during battle along with your own squad.
more squad members during missions, have three squad mates with you like DA:O
One main choice in the end that determines whether or not your character survives (i.e. sacraficing your self for love interest or choosing time on a bomb that wont let you get out in time but insures it cant be disarmed)

Personally I think that fighting/combat are a part of the story. But I agree that the story should be larger and more emphasis on the plot, I do think, though, that the combat is at a perfect preportion.

I could live with a compromise like that.
I also felt jipped that there were no romance brawls and on a related note that since ME2 romances can die there was no confrontation between original LIs and new ones. Another issue was interrupts. Is it too much to ask to put the word "push" next to a blinking icon, etc? And have in-game moments make sense. If you've imported a Shepard who never has problems remembering previous events, why can't you engage Michael and Rebbecka?

That doesn't sound so bad. The only thing I liked about Fallout 3 was the combat, and this is coming from a gamer who prefers playing Heavy Rain-like titles.

Academic or not, I enjoy this

that developers will listen to public opinion.
Any knowledgeable people around that can shed some light on this?

Specter / Cerberus Operative
In
the first two games the story/world tells us that Shepard belongs to
these big organization, yet once established they offer very little.
Couldn't the council or the Invisible Man offer up 3000 credits so I
could get those nice upgrades to save the universe? Is that too much to
ask for saving all living beings?
How about we give Shepard a
corporate card to buy things, or have her scan things and request them
from acquisitions, built in the armory, or just found/acquired in the
story? This way i don't have to break into wall safes, steal peoples
accounts, or hack into banks.
Give me a mission where I liberate
a mining operation from a band of pirates and Cerberus operators come
run the mine and produce a steady stream of minerals for me so I don't
have to scan planets, heck make it so I direct them to find certain
minerals to go after upgrades I decide on. I mean I am this big cheese
and I can't delegate someone to scan a planet or get the cook some
ingredients?
Summary, make the game elements fit the story.
Use the same mechanics but put them in context. I am Shepard, commander
of a ship and crew. Not a miner, not some one who has to pick pockets
of dead people (Thane can do that)
The World
Can we
make the world a little more... alive? Can you make it so people move?
I mean that bachelor party has been going on for days, that Turian has
been hitting on the Quarian with no luck he should give up! What I
would like to see is people walking around, different people during the
day and night. I don't think we need to interact with every one but
just make the places feel alive versus static objects.
Helmets/Armor
Wouldn't
go into combat with out one, but would sure love to see my characters
face when the talk/drink. When we first meet up with Garrus and he had
the nice armor and removed his helmet that was very cool. Why not have
that animation for everyone? Shepard walks into the bar and takes her
Helmet off and places it on the bar top. Or like the guns, the helmet
expands over her head during combat but folds up when not in use.
And
bring back the companion armor in some form. I myself would be happy if
companions have a social and combat look that we might be able to color
but at least two levels so that they fit in both portions of the game
world. So Miranda has her outfit aboard the ship, and wears Cerberus
armor when fighting, that sort of thing. The color part because I like
looking like a unit, heck the Blue Suns looked more organized then my
group.
Again back to game play, Shep goes into a bar in her
casual outfits with the team and only a pistol, a fight breaks out and
now combat has a different flavor. Light shields and a pistol versus
other light armed foes. I don't need to have Cain on my back all the
time (oh and an option to -not- take a gun if I don't want it. The
heavy weapons sucked, don't think they lived up to the "kill a person a
thousand times" like they thought, faster to use a regular gun)
Heatsinks/Ammo
I
think you threw out the baby with the bath water here. The lore was
good, the system became unbalanced. Remove frictionless materials,
don't put in uber Specter guns, and make the weapons have
characteristics. Shotguns have short range but track fast for close
quarter combat, assault rifles have distance but track slower, pistols
move very fast when aiming.. etc.. and the different variations play
with these variables, a compact assault rifle that sacrifices range and
accuracy for faster tracking. If your going to look at the shooter
games, look deeper and harder they have depth.
Boss Fights/Monster closets
Really?
If they can have huge bosses that defy the story and world elements,
why can't I just have Normandy fire from space? Don't increase
difficulty but tripling health or a gun that fires a million bullets a
second (that I can't pick up off the ground and have for my own after
they are dead) just have them have harder AI, they take cover more
often, they use the world around them.
Which leads to my next
bit, why is it ever two bit mercenary is a crack shot? Make them miss
every now and then, and the sound of a bullet wizzing by for near
misses. Make the bosses aim better, but the trash mobs? They fire less,
they get supressed and run when under heavy fire. Right now, crack
shots, fearless to the point of stupidity...
...
I think
that is my wall of text... but in short, tell the story through the
game, make an rpg that fits the story. Don't try to cram rpg elements
without relation to the world.
QFT.
G'night for now all.

My only real fear is that I think they may do the wrong thing and change the game away from its original feel. Take Resident Evil & Halo for example..... I was all about the first couple resident evils when they came out and the very first halo when that came out....then makers, developers, whoever you want to point the finger at....seem the need to make more and more changes or "improvements" along the way. Now resident evil is no longer a horror/thriller that would keep you on the edge of your seat & gasping for bullets, but a multiplayer action adventure. Halo has been inconsistent with every game they made and I don't even know what I'm playing anymore or if the story line even makes sense when I pop in a new game. I just hope they don’t go down this dark road so "if" Mass Effect 5 or 6 comes out years from now I would hate to the game play like something it's not. Next thing you know you’re playing mass effect 5 multiplayer and the story mode is co-op driven, you drive vehicles like you’re a drunk mad man cause they're completely different, and you could care less about your stats, because now there's no more lvling!....ya, that would suck.
Anyways, yes they seemed to make the game more action packed and a lil less rpg'ish...is a good thing? I guess, it's an improvement on the combat system for sure, no matter how you look at it. I think they should keep the mako & have the planetary scanning as well, and be able to upgrade which you prefer...that way you get the freedom to move about planets, but don’t have to waste 30 minutes getting up a damn hill to get a lil resource that’s tucked away, underneath theses rocks, behind this..... ya, you know what I'm talking about. I think they did GREAT with the characters, and love that they are really big on DLC which can only make games better! I would like to see the skills and equipment be a little better (customizable) for sure, which I hear they're doing for the next game. Someone said about the powers not really being all too different once you get stronger....totally agree. What you see in the trailers and commercials with them getting flown around, tossed, and just pummeled....ya, that’s what I wanna do
None the less, I'm still a fan of what they do.... I'll still play the games, read the books, and whatever lil clever things they put out there because I'm a fan of the Mass Effect characters & world. I sincerely hope they keep it true, but hope the best and will continue my journey as Shepard either way

Since they have greatly reduced the rpg aspects in order to achieve more action it would be nice now if they realised they need to appeal to their rpg fans more in me 3 rather than going for a 'general' game to appeal to the 'general' audience for 'general' cash and make sex scenes that appeal to ea's 'general' legal department

Squad Customization
Have team members wear some kind of armor in combat, and clothes/uniforms while on Normandy. With the exception of course for Quarian, Volus, or Krogan members. It was just so weird in the game where the team went into environments were it forced Shep to don the N7 Breather Helm, but Jack could run around half naked with a plastic mouth piece as her main protection.
Change the "Cycle Appearance" Y button choice in the Squad Status with a "Customize" choice. Team members could get armor upgrades, bonuses, and other customization bonuses via exploring and completing dialogue with team member, and/or via mini-quests and perhaps vendors. This would make it convenient to customize members as you have personal consoles on the CIC and captain's quarters. Two well frequented spots on the Normandy (none of that long trek down the elevator to the cargo bay in ME1).
For example: Ashley Williams would have her iconic Phoenix armor that could be customize like Shep's in ME2 by advancing in dialogue with her and so forth. This could also unlock shared armor upgrades/pieces for Shep to use on his/her N7 armor. Liara T'Soni could sport a slimmer asari commando-ish armor, kinda like the light armor in ME1. Also they would have the same options to customize color. For those players that do not want to be bogged down by this type of squad customization, then the game could auto upgrade like it does with weapons in ME2.
Weapon/Armor Customization
I like the new weapons in ME2, but would like to see a return of the weapon upgrades. Because in ME2 it was just use weapon X until you find weapon Y. Maybe use the "click Right Stick" for weapon enhanced zoom. This would allow for minor scope zoom upgrades for battle rifles and handguns (although that may make it too Halo-ish I guess). It would be cool to see some kind of stats (sort of like in ME1) for the weapons, and would reflect enhanced stats for upgrades (such as: Damage, [Ammo], Accuracy).
It may be trickier now to add in upgrades with ammo now an ability, but you could still do upgrades that add X damage bonus with Y ammo/accuracy(weapon kick) penalty or vice versa. Perhaps weapons could have 5 "enhancement slots". And enhancements could be ranked in levels 1 thru 3. Where level 1 takes up 1 slot and level 2 takes up two and so on. Thus a weapon could Have 1 L3 upgrade and 1 L2 or 2 L1s. Also it would be cool if you could customize the color as well (that way you could sport your own" Spectre Black" guns).
Well the armor customization was really cool in ME2, the customizable N7 armor was so cool that I never used any of the exclusive armors. Just add more options. In fact, if you could do to weapon customization like what you did to armor that would be awesome. Only real suggestion here, is if you could put in the combined armor bonuses for the configured N7 armor and a little text summary would hurt either. The lame exclusive armors had this, it would be cool to give the N7 this perk as well.
Squad Interaction
You guys tricked me in ME2. First time I saw that "Press A to speak with [X]" while walking around. I thought it was gonna be like in ME1 were you can have a special conversation with Ash and Kaiden on the Citadel, but instead it just makes [X] Member say some dialogue. Which was what they did all by themselves in ME1 (like when a member entered Chora's Den for the first time), but now I have to hit a button to do it. WTF?
If you are gonna put in special dialogue spots in the game, it would be cool if you could polish them up like the Citadel one in ME1 or just have them say it own their own. Otherwise it just comes off as kinda lame. Also after playing Dragon Age, it would be cool to see squad members have more dialogue as in the game. Call up the DA team and have a nice chat and take notes. It would be awesome to see that kinda of interaction in ME3.
Planet Scanning
Needs to have another look taken at it. The changes to terminal hacking and security bypassing worked really well. But planet scanning wasn't so good. Sure I guess it beats the pointless Mako rides, but after the first play-thru it was like pulling teeth. On the second play-thru I only got the bare minimum resources to allow for the critical Normandy upgrades. It did however make me want to play mine-sweeper though. Not sure if there is a way to make this fun, but could you see if you could make it less painful to endure?

Weapon customisation:
It was'nt perfect in ME1 but did'nt really need to be cut out completely.A balance between ME1 and ME2 would be nice.
Basicly a few more weapons and ammo upgrades. There does'nt need to be 7 levels of everything and you dont need to find 13 diffrent things evey time you open a crate to make it work.
Mako:
Again not perfect in ME1 but it would have been nice to have a few missions with a vehecle of some kind just to get that feel of exploration back.
Basicly for me a nice balanced mixed of ME1 and ME2 would be the perfect game.
Also, loading screens...mission complete screens breaks the immersion imo

No please. The thought of carrying a realistic amount of weapons around and switching between them is much better than having 100 weapons in your inventory and being able to switch between them at your leisure is super weaksauce. All we need is to compensate for our lack of inventory by being able to heavily customize our weapons and armor before we head off to our mission.
