My advice is to take your time and do it properly. Make this a game that will still be on peoples minds 20 years from now. Aim high because you should.

I want to be able to see the stats of armor, weapons and upgrades. Most of the time I have no idea what does what. The only way to find out is to try these items out. That is not a good thing. What I liked about the old interfaces of the inventory system and shops was that you could at least see some of those stats. That was cool. So, for ME3 I wish that you will be able to see all the releavant stats and what impact the upgardes have on them. Both for armor and weapons.

I would like more squad interaction with each other and the PC. It would be awesome to have the ending/epilogue change depending on choices you made over the 3 games and your LI. In my humble opinion the combat and inventory system in ME2 was amazing as was the level design, it set the tempo for each level almost like an episode of a TV show. Unlike other people I for one do not miss the Mako at all.

While i feel that most of these ideas would really be improvements, particularly a greater inventory of weapons/armor and weapons/armor costomization, a bigger and more extravagent Citadel (definately just a nostalgic sentiment), and some tweeks to leveling and noticeable improvements to character power (obviously in correlation with enemy difficulty) as the game progresses and characters advance in level, I must emphasize that this game really was an amazing display of innovation and craftmanship that truly changed my oppinion and prospective about RPG's and new-age gaming. I was totally engaged and immersed in the storyline from the moment Normand 1 was decimated by Collector adversaries to the final demolition of the Collector mothership and salvation of humanity and all civilized, advanced, civilized space (for now...). Mass Effect 2 really has captured everything I could have expected from this wonderful trilogy and so much more, and is truly a milestone achievment that has set the standard extremely high for all other RPG's for quite some time to come. Congratulations, in my humble opinion, for creating one of the best games ever developed and good luck in creating the third and final game in the trilogy which I, and many other extremely satisfied gamers I'm positive, will be awaiting with bated breath!

After completing three run-throughs on ME1, and two, going on three for ME2, I decided to take it upon myself and make a thread dedicated to logical choices for the upcoming Mass Effect 3. It truly is a wonderful thought to think that ME3 will be even more polished, and more creative then its amazing predecessors.
First, I wanted to state that no matter what is said in this forum, Mass Effect 2 is THE greatest game I have ever played, and that BioWare has continued to be the leading RPG maker in the gaming industry.
So to start off, lets go with the problems I saw in the game.
-Texture and polish
The game looked beautiful, but at the same time, things seemed scratchy and undefined. Take, for example, the Elcor that is smoking a cigar. It looks as it if is just floating there, and doesn’t belong in the alien’s ‘mouth’. Little things like this don’t truly affect game play and are easily overlooks. My main problem were three things.
-The Illusive man’s cigarette
Not a big problem, but annoying when it is sometimes the main picture in a cut scene.
-Sheppard’s cheeks
Highly Annoying when Sheppard gets angry and he glares, causing his cheeks to point under his eyes. It takes the seriousness of the situation and adds a distraction to the picture.
-Scene loading
Most definitely my biggest problem. BioWare promised this would be gone this time around, yet, it still takes time to load the amazing scenery that they have created. Though a slight problem, it makes a awkward intro to a scene that could be important.
-The Speech Circle
This piece of game play is what made Mass Effect so great. Being able to pick something and not hear it droned out by the character makes for a much more cinematic play through. But when your offered up a investigate option, and go into detail about thing because you fear not talking about something may have an effect in ME3, it takes away from the conversation. A way to fix this could be integrating the actual conversation into the investigate options, as in relaying it back into the conversation to make it more interesting.
Those are the only two things that are really “Wrong” with the game in my eyes. And I have created this post to help other express there likes and dislikes, pro’s and con’s, so that the ME3 team can take into consideration what the players want, like the have expertly done through out ME2.
Now going to the most fun part in my eyes, the characters!!!!
Organized by each game, and new character, this is my list of Team Members that should appearer in ME3, AND original members who SHOULD NOT be on the team will be explained below.
*TM=Team Member
*IKIA=If Killed in action
They were killed in the first or second game and cannot be in the third
*LI=Love Interest
They were a love interest and are in the third game
*DF=Default
For New Sheppard’s in the third game.
*ME3 P =ME3 Possibility
New member opinions from me
*PLI= Possible Love Interest
Mass Effect 1_________________________________________
Ashley Williams (ME1)
ME3 TM:
IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: No
Ash offers no specialty for the team against the reapers, and only should be on the team IF there was a love interest.
Garrus Vakarian (ME1,ME2)
ME3 TM:
IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: Yes
Garrus has been through the whole way with Saren and the reapers, and with Sheppard and the Reapers. Though Hot-headed, the Third installment should show his growth as a person and into a truly battle skilled asset to the team.
Kaidan Alenko (ME1)
ME3 TM:
IKIA: No / LI: No / DF: No
Though a powerful Biotic, Kaidan resents Sheppard in joining with Cerberus. Even can open for a fight, with an emotional ending.
Liara T'Soni (ME1)
Me3 TM:
IKIA: N/A / LI: Y/N / DF: Yes
If Liara was a love interest and was helped on Illium, she joins the team with valuable knowledge of the Protheans and experience from being a Informant. Now
with the rank of Asari Commando
.
Tali'Zorah nar Rayya (ME1, ME2)
ME3 TM:
IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: No
If not in a relationship with the player, Tali returns to the migrant fleet and becomes a admiral in her father’s place, and if loyal, winning the Migrant Fleet’s approval to go to war against the Reapers.
If she is in a relationship with the player, she stays on the ship, still winning the approval to go to war, provided the player had gained loyalty. Having valuable information about Geth and there Reaper gods, she works with Legion to make a weapon to fight the Reapers.
Urdnot Wrex (ME1)
ME3 TM:
IKIA: No / LI: N/A / DF: No
Simply, Wrex still needs time to gather more Krogan clans under Clan Urdnot. BUT, if Wrex did not die on Virmire, he is willing to help against the war with the Reapers, and having a whole Krogan clan would be invaluable.
Mass Effect 2____________________________________________________________
Grunt (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: N/A / DF: No
Though my favorite character has to be Grunt for a lot of reasons. I would see him needing to be with clan Urdnot to help unite other clans. He would make an appearance in the war with the reapers.
Jack (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: No
If the player did not pursue a love interest with Jack, She sees her commitment fulfilled and leaves the Normandy, becoming a pirate in the Terminus Systems. Action may need to be taken.
Jacob Taylor (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: Yes
Having survived the Collector ship, and not being able to go back to Cerberus, Jacob stays with the team
Legion (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: N/A / DF: Yes
Having a Geth as a team member is invaluable. Legion works with Tali to develop a weapon to help fight the reapers.
Miranda Lawson (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: Yes
Same as Jacob
Mordin Solus (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: N/A / DF: Yes
Mordin is a huge asset to the team, being able to study the technology of the collectors to help develops ground weapons to help fight the reaper’s ground troops.
Samara/Morinth (ME2)
Samara: IKIA: No / LI: N/A / DF: Yes
Morinth: IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: No
If Samara survived the Collector ship, she is a valuable asset to the team being the powerful biotic as she is.
If the player decides to pursue Morinth as a love interest, but decides not to have sex with her, she becomes obsessed, demanding to stay on the mission to pursue the man/woman who denied her love.
Thane Krios (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: No / DF: No
Indefinitely, Thane should die after talking with Kolyat Krios, the character being there depending on the love interest or not.
Zaeed Massani (ME2 DLC)
IKIA: No / LI: N/A / DF: No / *Exception
Zaeed, having fulfilled his contract, leaves the Normandy and is hired by the Illusive man to hunt Sheppard.
*Depending on how the Loyalty mission for Zaeed played out, He could come back as a loyal member to the team. This could only be achieved by Zaeed killing Vido, which would mean following the Renegade path.
Mass Effect 3 Additions____________________________________________________
Kolyat Krios (ME3 P)
PLI: Yes / DF: Yes
Having followed in his Father’s footsteps, he join Sheppard after his fathers death.
Kelly Chambers (ME3 P)
PLI: Yes / DF: Y/N
Could be a member of team on player’s decision. Still acts as Yeoman, but unlocks Solider Skill Tree.
Shiala (ME3 P)
PLI: Yes / DF: No
If Sheppard let her live of Feros, and helped her on Illium, she will join the crew with NEW biotic powers as the green Asari.
Anything else, like team members dying, will have to be filled in, or maybe not. But these are my subjections for ME3 character wise. If you visit the BioWare site, you’ll noticed that two more spaces are still ‘classified’ in the team member section. Most likely a DLC and I will have to update the list.
Improvements:
Interruption system:
When a good character does a Renegade action to a Renegade character, Renegade points earned should be reduced, and when a Renegade Character does a Renegade action to a Paragon character, they should earn additional Renegade points.
Plot Ideas:
Here are a few ideas for the plot game play of ME3
Of course, the main focus of the game will be the reapers, and finding people to fight for the cause. The council will need to be convinced, along with the Alliance. IF you chose Anderson for council, Alliance immediately backs your claims, if you chose Udina, the council is less harder to convince. For both, you will need adequate information about the reapers. Some is gathered from EDI when she scanned the ship, and some on the data pad you see Sheppard holding at the end video. This will be enough to convince them to back you up in the War against the Reapers.
You will also need variety, mainly four I can think of.
-Rachnai. IF you helped the queen, and received the message on Illium, you gain her favor in fighting against the Reapers, but, the alliance will cause a controversy, but after the council had been convinced, they join your cause.
*Maybe even a Rachni Team Member to represent on the Flagship, Normandy SR2
-Geth. Assuming you chose to re-write the Geth in Legion’s loyalty mission, you can gain the advantage of having every Geth on your side. Again, this causes huge controversy in the Council, but with an alliance between the Quariens and Geth, the other aliens have no other choice but to fall in.
-Quariens. With Tali being called back to be an Admiral on the Migrant Fleet Admiralty Board, she is a invaluable in convincing them to join against the Reaper Threat. Once a treaty is struck between the Geth and Quariens, they join the fight.
*If Tali or Legion dies, convincing the people to join is much harder, an exception to this would be Tali and Sheppard Love interest, in which she still is an admiral, but travels with Sheppard.
-Krogan. If Wrex is in power, and Grunt survived the Battle on the Collector ship, then this group will be the easiest to recruit. If Wrex was killed, and Grunt did not survive, then these will be the Hardest to convince to join.
Here is a list of other, smaller groups that would join the end battle. By end battle, I mean the Largest, coolest cut scenes in the game, featuring mass hysteria against the Reapers and there drones.
Good Guys:
Feros Human Colony (If helped in ME2)
Citadel Security (If council is convinced)
Cerberus* (Explained in detail below)
-Any more you guys can think of?-
*The story with Cerberus will be another main plot. If you betrayed the Illusive man, he will secretly hire people to kill you, but back the Human force to fight the Reapers. If you did not betray him, he asks you to make sure the council and aliens meet there demise in the Final Battle.
Bad Guys (Reaper Drones):
The Vorcha (As said by the group on Omega)
Husks (New, final version, full capability, gun use and all other types)
Collectors Remnants (Remains of the collectors that were not on the ship) ((??))
Keepers (Not actual ground troops, maybe controlling gun batteries?)
Reaper Drones (Small, human sized Reaper Warriors) ((Just a fun thought

This is really personal taste. For the style of the ME series (sci-fi, realistic), I find the idea of Shepard pushing a cart of all the sniper rifles and armor he's found a little unrealistic. Along the same lines, I find it unrealistic that there are dozens of weapons lying around in Malfunctioning Objects. And why did anyone send a probe into space with a sniper rifle and an Omni-Tool stuffed into it?figuare9 wrote...
Bring back the Inventory (upgradeable sizing)
Yes, there are lots of people who love RPGs with loot. However, looting is not a requirement of an RPG. It's actually one of the least believeable parts of them.
I couldn't agree more with Malastare. I have no desire to get the old inventory system back.
To add a bit: I find spending time digging through on-screen Excel spreadsheets really boring, every hour or two of play time you have to look through and get rid of 100+ different items you'll never use. I thought the new system worked well, weapons were still customizable/upgradable as a group and I didn't have to dig through lists of guns that weren't as good as the one I bought. It was great to change the appearance of my armor, and I think with a few more interchangable parts on the armor (more helmets, more chestplates, etc...) that many people would have been a lot more pleased. And I never had to deal with armor that looked crappy.

Things I'd like to see in Mass Effect 3:
-More detailed worlds/cities to visit. Errand running for groceries doesn't seem like something a Spectre would do or going to find out if there are fish in the water in the Presidium. I want side missions that are more meaningful.
-Other characters to acknowledge that you are in a relationship with such and such. I would have loved if you can tell a certain character that you are not interested in them because you are serious with Liara or Ashley for instance.
-Definitely more convos between my squadmates.
-Make Mass Effect 3 even longer but still full of action and difficult choices to make.
-Graphics were definitely improved but I know can be even better.
-More interaction with environments. I would have loved to be able to lay down on my bed in the Captain's cabin or to sit on my leather couch.
-Make ME3 one of the best video games of all time! I know you can, Bioware!

- Feron as a squaddie
- Kal'Reeger as a squaddie
- Giana Parasini as a squaddie
- A batarian squaddie/resolution to tensions between batarians and the rest of the galaxy; colonist Shep should get a mission to crack down on batarian slaving.
- More customization for casual clothing
- Tali's face
- Cure the Genophage
- Cure Kerpal's syndrome/save Thane
- Help the Rachni rejoin the galactic community
- Resolve the conflict between the Quarians and the Geth (Loved Tali's loyalty mission btw, meeting all the different quarians was extremely interesting, and I hope we can delve into quarian culture even more)
- Visit Kahje
- Visit Earth
- An even bigger fish tank. I want like, an exotic pet shark. Also don't make them die so quickly. I go on one mission and my fish are mysteriously dead when I return.
- Make sure Joker sticks around. I used to hate him, but he really grew on me.
- In renegade path, Udina taking over the galaxy.
- More cool critters on random planets like that neat dragon thing.
- Better font for SDTVs
- Find out about what Inamorda was up to on Noveria in ME1
- Meet Mordin's favorite nephew who got tenure as a geneticist somewhere
- A complimentary episode of Blasto the Jellyfish to go with the CE

The only thing that I want on my wishlist for ME3 would be that you could have both Wrex and Grunt on your team. Two Krogans on the same team would be completely ridiculous and the greatest idea ever!!!!! To have your character from the first two games and then to have two krogan is just amazing

Please give us in ME3 a FSAA support, DX10+, my own custom music collection to import into Normandy's Shepard's 'apartment'. More cRPG & exploration elements. Please :-)

Like I said in the thread I just started, please DO NOT reset Paragon/Renegade scores at the beginning of each new playthrough!

The "Mana" could be 3 or 4 cool downs bars which recharge like the system in ME2, but you can use multiple powers like ME1. (sorry if someone has posted some thing like this already). I would love to hear what everyone thinks about this idea.

A really important addition would be to mix up where the paragon and renegade choices for dialogue show up on the dialogue choice circle. For example, when trying to max out my renegade points, I would just hold my left stick to the lower right. If the choices were randomized in location, I would have to actually think about which one would suit my character, making the game much more immersive in dialogue decisions

I am not going to read through 50+ pages so this may have already been discussed.
I do miss the elevators. After going through the boring load screens with the wire frame schematics at all points they need to find a way to balance this. Additionally, I felt as though I was taken out of the moment too often by a mission ending abruptly and going to a mission recap sequence. For this to be an epic which keeps you in the moment, this sure does break it up and makes it feel awkward. Please go back to us having to return to the Normandy and be decontaminated.

I wish ME3 to have romance at list like in Dragon Age: Origins (where I had a lot of fun discovering how to make my crew pleased). In ME2 the future love comes on last place. I wish ME2 to had some opportunities to make romance stories between your crew members (imagine Grunt giving Miranda hard time with some poetry or at list some extraterrestrial roses), or to have options for romance in the biggest locations from ME2 universe (no "kinky" hotel/motel in the hole GALAXY, just some lousy strip movements?!?). I mean I enjoy romance relationships and story in RPG games where is a party involved. I hope to find that in ME3.
A little list:
- some "pink" messages (emails or audio files) form NPC or crew members, wich you can gather for an achievement
- some romantic or casual relationship between your crew members (I wonder if Jack was not having sex with Joker all the time I shot my guns on different planets, without her on my party)
- more opportunities for casual or romantic relationships on the biggest locations (I did not found any "pinky" hotel/motel on the entire galaxy. If you did send me the address :-) I wonder what happened if Grunt get on krogan's women village and had the option to stop the genophage!?!
- possibility of buying or finding gifts for your crew members (ex. "Grunt, I found this big baseball bat on my grand-grandfather garage. I like you to have it. Use it carefully thou... It is not a ******!" or "Tali, I found ingredients for our special dinner. I will make "PIZZA" for you tonight, before killing those extraterrestrial insectoids who make me sick")
IF THOSE WISHIS WILL BE IN ME3... BioWare will be THE BEST... EVER in the hole GLAXY and beyond!!!

One of my favorite moments in ME1 was who should live and who should die (Kaidan/Ashley) on Virmie. I was a little disappointed that you could have your whole squad survive. I would like at least one dire choice to appear in ME3 where I have to sacrifice a team member for the greater good!
Other things I'd like to see improved on is a greater scope to LI's, team banter (especially to older ME1 people who are still with you) as well as some conclussion to Geth/Quarian & Krogan Genophage.
All in all, ME2 was a damn fine game, just felt like it was one long prologue for ME3 (rather then a seperate 'episode')

I most certainly miss the exploration provided by the Mako(do Not miss the repetitive side missions that took place when you did explore, though). figuare9 made a good point in stating that the planet exploration allowed you to witness the grand scale of the Mass Effect Universe, as so much time was put into making the different planets beautiful and complete with identification and brief description. The planet scanning in ME2 certainly allows for more ease of resource gathering, but you never feel as though you have actually accomplished anything by doing so.
In Mass Effect(1), whenever I added health regeneration upgrades to my armor, or Tungsten or Shredder rounds to my rifle, i could immediately perceive the benefits they had on my gameplay. I would like to see that sort of gratifying customization again in Mass Effect 3.

Loot might be somewhat unrealistic and unbelievable at times but this is a game, not a science book. Games are supposed to be fun. Things like characters surviving in hazardous environments with just a breathing mask while showing bare skin is a much stronger immersion breaker.
When people say they want an inventory back they dont mean a copy of the ME1 inventory. Everyone knows it turned out to be more work than fun sometimes (like ME2 scanning ALL THE T'IME). But how about something better? How about a fast an easy to use inventory with optional auto management? Its not just black and white, 1 or 0. There are ways in between, combing the best from both systems and adding more. Just have some imagination!
Loot is fun if done right. Something like the Diablo series is so pupular mainly because of loot. The hunt for next better item, the hunt for something unique and special. It is fun, gives you a feeling of acomplishment and you feel empowered each time you improve you characters equipment, specially if you have a whole team.
Ofcouse there need to be several aspects take into account.
1. is the inventory organized, intuitive, fast and easy to use
2. is the ammount of dropped loot properly balanced; there should not be too much crap and too many identical items, but every once in a while (like every 10 minutes gameplay outside of dialogues) you should find something usefull for atleast one in your team
3. are there enough unique items that give you a sense of beeing special, specially regarding the looks
4. you should not always end up with the same stuff each play through

What I'm thankful for...
1) Awesome shooter gameplay.
2) Awesome story.
3) Great cast of characters.
4) Graphics are amazing...it rocks visually.
5) The depth of story twists from ME1 decisions. The integration of multiple game decisions is very cool!
What I wish for...
1) BRING BACK THE LOOT: Loot is important to true RPG fans. Unless you have a short attention span which ME2 seems to cater to...the rest of us miss the vast array of weapons and armour you could collect to prepare for the Reapers. I don't mind the new ammo clips versus the overheating issue, but leveling up and searching those stores with new licenses to get the best of the best was immense fun.
2) BRING BACK PLANET EXPLORATION: Mining planets is not an improvement over the Mako search. At least hunting with the Mako gave us some exploration options...I just wanted better looking planets/cities to explore not probes. If you could keep the map system from ME1 and introduce the visually amazing level layouts for bases and outpostsfrom ME2 it would be a nice win/win.
3) SCRAP DIFFICULTY SETTINGS: Go old school instead...think Zelda. Certain areas are restricted until you level up or have the skill to beat. SO instead of making me play the game 15 times, make sections next to impossible until I level up (tougher bosses, variety of difficulty on planets, etc...) to appease the unskilled and the skilled. A great example from ME1 was the Alliance computer base that developed AI. The missle launching drones made it a tough level until you were at a certain level/ability then it was cake. PLUS this is a way to award some cool weapons/armour/upgrades for the really difficult levels. So no more "novice through insanity"...just make certain areas worthy of insanity players. This approach to gameplay adds more strategy to preparation for the really tough missions.
4) ADD AN EXTRA LEVEL/MISSION as a reward for beating the game. I keep playing because of this insatiable desire to max out my characters but an additional level or planet to take on as a bonus would be much appreciated.
5) TELEPORTERS: Ok ditching the elevators should have made my list of things I'm thankful for, but needed it for making my point here. If I can use biotics to zip across the screen then maybe by ME3 Cereberus can steal some Star Trek tech and allow us to teleport from Normandy to planet or Normandy to station. Maybe I'm breaking a sci-fi cardinal rule but it would be a nice add to cut down on some of the travel time.

First of all: nice thread, love reading it! I hope Bioware pay much attention to the wishes of the community.
I think the most important for ME3 is: long main story line. ME2 was better than ME1 in this part, but I still feel its a little short. I speak about only the main elements of the story now, side quests are attractive in ME2 imo, Bioware accomplished it better than in the first game.
Leveling: I think Bioware made it really good, in ME1 there are a lot ot unnecessary skills (big five star for making hacking and security bypass available for all classes). Re-talenting is a really good idea too, i enjoyed to make experiments whick build is the best for my vanguard.
Inventory: yeah, inventory makes the game more RPG like, I doesn't really miss it from ME2, but I would be happy to see it again in the third part.
Upgradeable weapon/armor: I like the version from the ME2, in ME1 there are a lot of useless upgrades you found. In the second part you must make choices: what to upgrade, and from what -> credit has a meaning (in ME1 I have a lot of credits that I can't spend on anything). Good way Bioware, keep it up. Just make it more varied.
That's all for now fellows, have a nice evening or day, determined on which timezone are you.
