I agree with everything OP said especially
-less linear main missions and less linear side missions (I don't like going from point A straight to point B.. let me do some exploration).
-bring back planetary exploration.. just keep the worlds smaller and more diverse (We dont need 50 planets of open nothingness.. 10 extremely diverse planets would do!)
-More area's to explore on the subworlds and more important side missions on each hub world
-More hub worlds!

I'd keep the combat practically the same but add more armors and more armor upgrades...and better weapons upgrades..it felt like none of the upgrades really improved anything..

AGREE TOTALLY AGREE.

Mass Effect isn't that kind of an rpg.  Your'e thinking about an mmorpg, where your character can take any path, but Shepard is slightly defined.  Unless your thinking about a lvl similar to the one before you enter the relay where you take control of another character.  I would  like Mass Effect 3 to have more levels similar to that one.

Things I would like back from ME1 or ME2:

More/bigger citadel levels/wings
mako like vehicle to give back feeling of actually exploring a planet and its vast landscapes.
Admiral Hacket (also meeting him)
Legion as crew member from the beginning on.
ME2 combat system
ME1 fleshed out story
Shepard finding his/her way back to the alliance and being a spectre
Customizing crew members armor
Crew member missions from ME1 like Tali’s pilgrimage, not silly loyalty missions where the story is always the same (someone close to the characters heart betrays/disappoints he she it whatever) ME1 characters not loyal to Shepard in ME2? Silly
The Awesome 70’s 80’s synth/electro score of the ME games

New things I would like:

A mission on Earth
Hannar, Volus, Elcor crew members LOL
More gameplay, like DragonAge for example
Tali unmasked or another quarian for that matter, but due to fan outcry Tali would be advisable Image IPB
Mass Effect Relays deployed as weapons against Reapers aim and accelerate some space junk at the speed of light KABOOOM!!! :P
Oh and almost forgot, show a Krogan female Image IPB

edit: I forgot to mention to leave out the immature gags like the one in ME2 Uranus + probe gagImage IPB

i was thinking they could set ME3 years after ME2 and having Shepard in control of Cerberus.

MORE EXPLORATION!!!!!! On a serious note, I think a simple merge of ME1 and ME2 with a little refinement would do just the trick. You'd have the tighter combat of ME2 plus its many fixes and improvements (the armour system etc, although they need more options) and you would have the freer mission choice (ie Mako style and the controlled linear type missions also whihc allow for more detailed locales.

I think Bio should have for ME2 and definitely should for ME3 have a merge of the two, that way the more "shooter"inclined = happy and so do the more RPG inclined players because all the staples of the genre will be there (and for christ's sake do not worry about multiple discs for bloody Xbox, if it need to be 3 or 4 then damn well make it 3 or 4!!)

Exactly , if multiple discs make you not want to purchase a game , you should stop playing games period.More discs mean more story and mission's.

Satisfying endings/closures for all the romances please!

Hear hear!

And please no sappy unavoidable "save galaxy or save loved one" thing, it's been done about 100 too many times. If it must be included at least give it a twist like being able to unlock the option "I reject your options and chose my own: both" ;)

I agree, and maybe add a choice some point in the story where both your ME1 and ME2 love interests are in danger and you have to save one or the other, as well as give you the option to try to save both.

More involved/longer/detailed romances. Liara makes a reappearance again and a good romance there storyline permitting. Wider variety of on world missions and bars and areas to visit. More customisation of character in any way possible, jewellery and collectibles (I love my ship collection and fish and the hamster is cute). Some really strange new alien races - push the boundaries....if you think the hanar are weird.....and make them romanceable lol etc. More humour... when Mordin sang I nearly wet my pants laughing. I'd like more choice of equipment and more loot. Choices pertaining to spirituality or lack of.

I'd like to see all the characters from ME1&2 but definitely as party Liara, Mordin, Garrus, Tali, a hanar.

I'd like more squad banter on planet leave so we get to know the characters better.

Of all the suggestions that were posted on this topic, a gameplay with battles in space is one of the most important suggestions. The lack of gameplay in Mass Effect 3 would leave a huge void in the trilogy.

I think that gameplay can be perfectly executed. The Unreal Engine 3 was able to put Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago mounted Reavers for a great air battle in Gears of War 2. The Bioware can do something much better.

The story of Mass Effect has the space as a major theme. Not good in the whole trilogy of Mass Effect the lack of gameplay based on space combat. (Shepard is a fan of ships - The Captain's Cabin in Normandy confirms SR 2).

I hope that Bioware do not forget this point.

Space combat would indeed be very fun as long as it is not overdone. However, I kind of see a reason that it wasn't used in ME2 since there was only one (1) ship that was real threat to the Normandy. Throwing in a bunch of space pirates to fight just for the sake of it would have ruined the feeling I think.

I am one of those who does not want to visit earth. There are enough future earths depicted in all kinds of media; we really don't need another one. Besides, where should Shepard land? In the US somewhere? Of course, since most players most likely are Americans - and then souring the mood for the non-American players. Outside the US? Of course, but then souring the mood for all the American players... [/rant mode off] Thanks but no thanks, I have enough of the earth as it is.

I agree with you. My suggestion is to Mass Effect 3. Mass Effect 3 is the only episode of the trilogy with a huge range of space warfare. Everything is there. The Bioware was brilliant. ME 3 must have gameplay with space combat.

I totally agree. Since ME3 is the end of this trilogy (I wish it weren't, because I can't imagine ME without being a spectre... or shepard just yet despite wanting to play other races) it would be nice if there were more missions in ME 3 that had a greater impact during the ME 3 gameplay where team mates could die etc because of carelessness or something difficult. To sum it all up: high impact action where the role of each squad member can help determine the outcome.

I would like to see a balance between the ME1 and ME2 inventory system. I love not having to juggle a ton of weapons in ME2, but I would like to see more diversity.

I know ME1 got a lot of crap, being called a "sex simulator" and whatnot, but I'd like it if the lovin' in ME3 was a little more adult. I'm not saying I want something explicit, but something better than clothes-on dry humping.

I would love to see something like the Mako come back.

I'd like to see some more roaming abilities. ME1 felt so much bigger because it was easier to roam around. ME2 feels too limited in where you can go.

Oooooh! OOOH! I've got one thing I definitely can say I want. I may have said this is one of my other posts though...

Whatever.

Okay, I don't mind regenerating health that much anymore, but it's kind of...easy. I'm sure many posts in this topic whine about "RPG elements!!!!" One way you could make those people happier is by adding more stats and numbers. One thing could be giving each suit of armor a set health fill amount...like wearing the N7 armor refills 30% of your health. They'd all have to have a set health regeneration bonus too, otherwise you'd have to bring back medi gel.

I suppose I have to touch on something else though, the armor customization. The N7 armor isn't really one suit of armor. That black stuff underneath the armor you change I guess makes up the base N7 armor...that would have to be the item you apply the health regeneration bonuses to.

1.) No more stupid spam mail in game. Or allow us to hunt down and kill the people responsible for sending it.

2.) I'll umpteenth agree with the more interaction between crew members. Add to that the ability to talk to people over a comm system, or call them up to your office, not have to run around just to be told they are busy. Like one person said, it makes you feel like a sad loner desperate for friends.
