1. Have scanning more fun or just get a new resource system (but i like the upgrade system)

2.Have the citadel be larger.

3. Have big chooses effect from ME1 and ME2 have a bigger effect then they did in ME2 for ME1

4. The Reapers better have a cool back story on why they do what they do.

5. Epic ending that feels like the story arc is over

6. Have squad mates from ME1/2 have a bigger part in ME3 or put them all in your squad

First of I'd like to say I loved ME2! Great storie, great game.
What I really liked was the way you could choose different tactics in some areas. Like either dodging from cover to cover, so get as close as possible and then Shotgun to the face. Or sneak around and take cover on high ground, and then snipe your enemies. Unfortunately it was only possible in a few maps, so I'd really like some more of this!
Sure its hard to gain tactical advances right after you've walked into a trap, but I still think a lot of the maps were to linear. A voice in my head kept repeating:

"Don't worry about the way! There is only one!"

Surgestions and/or comments:

1)

Tali unmasked.

"The grass is always greener on the other side."

Please do NOT unmask Tali!

Not knowing how she looks is part of the mystery, and a very important part of why she is so facinating!
I would lose interest in her as soon as I saw her face, as it would be so big a turn in her character that I wouldnt be able to recognise the person that came out on the other side.
However I support the surgstions that "demand" more conversation. So if you romanced her in ME2, and had to dialog her about what you thought about her/it, (which would make sence as she seems very insecure around Shepard), you could bring up different comments on it. Like "You have beautiful eyes"(Paragon) or "I'd never guess that you'd have vorts"(Renegade)

2)

"Take cover behind thoese boxes! No, not 5m behind them.."

I like the way you have to control your team mates too, in order to have them be usefull. But it can sometimes be hard to get them to stand right where you want them.
Often if you want them behind a barricade, that you yourself is infront of, they will either stand far behind it, or on top of it, because your camera angle dosn't let you see the floor behind the barricade.
So if you could have an option to either change view while on Pause, so that you could see and "aim"from your hencman's pov. Or add some kind of tactical overview.
I dont know how many times Ive gotten Garrus killed because he prefers to snipe from the middle of the path, instead of from behind cover.

3)
The mini games was fun, but after my 3'rd play trough, pining different symbols, finding the same hacking sequence, or just searching for minerals, gets a weee bit boring.
So I'd like to see some kind of "upgrades" that you could buy. Either after yor first play through, or for a high price somewhere midgame. The upgrades would then do the boring stuff for you.

Examples:
A Super Scanner, that would scan the whole planet as you approached, and then pinpoint the resources with color dots. The more color, the more resources.
And then a Super Hacker or Bypasser. Something that would just unlock stuff as soon as you connected it.
By making it as Purchased Upgrades, its up to each player if they wat to continue doing the minigames, or just want to skip this part and focus on the storie.

4)
"They're all dead! Now shut up!"

Its been stated several times, but more dialog would be nice.
For example if you go to the Living Quarters on Normandy you find 2 NPCs discussing one's family. It would be nice to go over and either comfort him, or mock him (Para/Ren). Instead of just being a spectator to something which obviously concerns one of Your crew members.

What I really enjoyed:
1)
"Now where did I put my tampoon? Im sure I saw it somewhere between my Battlecruiser and my Sunday outfit"

Keep the ME2 inventory system please! Having to loot 10 bodies after each firefight, just because you might miss out on some important plot item, slows the game down A LOT.
I liked having just a few items after each fight, and the usefull ones got stored on your ship for easy acces, and the rest just got converted to money right away. Nothing about going through an area again, because you forgot to empty your bags before setting out, and you need the money to buy a surtain upgrade.
And lets face it. For your bags to be remotly usefull, they'd have to be silly big, and absolutely NOT fit for fighting over your life, to save the univers.

2)
The diversity in the maps!
Everything from mining shafts to half build towers to cargo bays. It was great to see so many scene changes, instead of just plain old boring walls all the time.

3)
The limited ammo!
It gave the game a more tactical input, where you had to actully think before pulling the trigger!
Instead of just spraying all over the place, then wait in cover for your weapon to cool down, and then repeat.

I would like to find a planet for the Quarians to live. And after the romance with Tali'zorah... I would like to see Shepard asking her to marry him :) And I would like to have MORE SHOPS. Especially when I travel to the Flotilla.

More possibilities to build weapons out of the sources we get from the planets. And Tali'zorah is the best for the job :)

In-depth dealing with Geth/Quarian problems, at least in finding a good short term solution.

(Though a ME game past the trilogy dealing with Geth/Quarians could be interesting)

More of the Citadel. ME1 style upgrades (but only if can be done in a unbroken way)

Don't force concluding the story in ME3, if it needs one more game to finish the Shepard/Reaper story in a fulfilling i am sure people will buy it. But if it can be concluded well, great

I think the lack of homosexual/bisexual romance subplot options in ME2 was disappointing, so that needs to be rectified in ME3, but at the same time, make sure it MAKES SENSE. You don't automatically need to just make Tali automatically romanceable to femshep or Garrus for maleshep, for example, as character development has obviously made each heterosexual and a sudden change wouldn't make sense in the story. Focus on potential new characters who are exclusively homosexual or bisexual, and if a player REALLY wants to romance a particular squad member from ME1 or ME2 that wasn't homosexual, then the player has to really WORK at it, and be one hell of a good persuasion expert/seducer, and have charm/intimidate factor into success of converting the potential LI. Thats probably the best way to handle this situation IMO

Hello All,
There seems to be quite the laundry list here, some I agree, some I disagree with.
Loved the game, not much I would change but...

When it comes to relationships, why is it either, I want to take you to bed asap or I don't want anything to do with you? I mean really, we are not all 13-15 year old boys. The character should be able to let every one of his people know he or she cares about them, but not necessarily want to boink them.
For instance, Jack. I would like to be able to help her work through some issues with trusting other people, and let her know that people care about her without wanting something (sex) from her. It's a lot healthier relationship I think.
The other characters, I feel the same way about.

As an adult who likes to play these games, I would also like a profanity filter option. Yes, it's language you hear every day, and some use everyday, but that doesn't mean everybody wants to hear it all the time, or pay to hear it.

Thanks,

JB

My list, in no particular order:
  • Seperate Persuade skill, like ME1. It doesn't need to be divided into charm/intimidate; just a persuade skill instead of having to do paragon actions to do other paragon actions etc. Sometimes you are barred from defusing a situation by making decisions that seem right to you but are deemed either paragon or renegade, meaning you might not have enough points even though you still did the same amount of stuff.
  • Automatic scanning, or at least a resource trading system, where I can sell resources I don't need and buy ones I do.
  • Weighty choices that have impacts within the same game, such as choosing one squadmate at the expense of another. Making us choose makes the squadmate more meaningful, and increases replay value exponentially.
  • More weapons/armor customization options. Perhaps, instead of making more customizations for one type of armor, you could make more armor types with a handful of options for each? It'd be cool if we could tweak weapons similar to the ME1 system to fit our playstyle. My infiltrator would stack damage at the expense of heat capacity, for example, while my sentinel would go for sheild/armor/barrier damage. A soldier might sacrifice movement speed for damage protection, etc.
  • Keep the RTS-style-tech/upgrade-tree. I thought it was cool, and just expensive enough to require me to work for them, and each upgrade had visceral effects in combat. Unfortunately it resets every playthrough and I have to do the stupid scanning to get the upgrades, making it a pain every time after the first.
  • More inter-squadmate interaction. I'm suprised Samara didn't try to kill Jack or Thane yet. Tali had absolutely no reaction to Legion for a while.
  • No fuel/probe limit. I'm sorry, but that was just annoying.
  • Keep the combat! I thought it struck that perfect balance between tactical and action-y. Squad AI needs some improvement, still.
  • More skills for squadmates! 3 active, 1 passive wasn't enough for me.
  • Paragons need to feel their decisions bite them in the back sometimes! Letting Balak go at the end of ME1's BDST had absolutely no consequence, even though in real life a fairly large percentage of enemy combatants captured go right back to fighting the war once their internment is over. Paragons could charm their way out of anything, which is annoying.
  • Renegades should not have less content than Paragons! Although Renegade options in ME1 were sometimes ridiculously stupid--executing people for no reason, sometimes--they should not be punished by having fewer sidequests to do or less dialgoue to experience. Being told how stupid you are by everybody is punishment enough. No, getting Terminator eyes does not make up the difference.
  • Romances should not be talk, do quest, talk, then sexytimes. They seemed shallow to me; good, but still a little empty. I'm not saying remove sex, but is it really the main objective of a romance subplot? Cameos from ME1 romances kind of sucked too. IMHO.
  • Edit: Have the radar available in realtime! I mean, why not?
I didn't read anyone else's but I imagine most of what I said somebody else already said. It doesn't hurt to say it again, though!

practical issue: have the x button, which skips dialogue, not also select conversation options - I keep accidentally saying things by pressing x one too many times when someone's talking.

Only one wish for Mass Effect 3: Bring back the Mass Effect 1 LIs as squadmates! And on a related note...

I am begging you on bended knee, Bioware, to please give the romances the justice they deserve in ME3. The romances in ME1 caught a fair amount of flak for feeling very rushed and unnatural but playing through the Jacob romance in ME2 (Just to see what it was like) made me want to replay ME1 just to get the bad taste out of my mouth. And don't even get me started on the 5 minute cameo of Ash/Kaidan. Romances needed to be a step up if anything, and instead they were a decided step down. I'm going to hazard a guess that this may have something to do with the fact that there were about 7 new love interests in ME2 on top of  the three from ME1. Having to spread resources too thin resulted in mediocrity all around instead of focusing on the ME1 love interests and maybe 2 or 3 more and having each of those relationships be up to the standard of what we know you are capable of. So please don't let this happen in ME3.

Great RPGs are great because they leave a mark in people's memory.

ME1 is a fantastic game, I will never forget the hours I spend exploring strange new world on my little rover with a gun, shooting alien live to stay alive, I will never forget the time I spend hanging around citidial, enjoying the little walk while appreciating the option of mass, quick transit.

ME2 greatest failure is it's predictability, the UI gives you all the percentage and sign and mark every where to tell you 'You missed something'.  The story line is amazingly weak, there's hardly any surprise, every step in the plot is told or strongly hinted.  I'm so shockingly disappointed when I finish the story, this is a screw up guys, this is so down graded to japanese RPG.  Prince wake up day 1, old wise man tell him the evil castle is at the other side of the world, get in there, kill the bad guy, end of story?

Mass Effect is a class of itself, at least ME1 was,  please don't ruin it,   in ME3 I'm looking forward to see...

- The restoration of citidial
ME is a BIG game, this distinguish ME from any other RPG, small, confined space is so not ME.  Bring citidial back please, make a few small upgrade here and there, so sign of the attack maybe? damaged section you see big hole to the outside?

- Revise the UI, remove all hints of incompletness in micro level.
It was a mistake to put a percentage mark in per local star cluster,  it simply kill the reason for revisit, why I should spend the time exploring more if I've already completed the sector?  Having the name of the planet tagged is good enough to mark I have been there.  Member's UI as well, remove all those place holder please, you don't need to tell me I have yet one more surprise member to come, just surprise me please.   Don't make door non accessiable until some body is in it, give them a puropse then refit it into a living quarter later when the guy comes in.

- Bring planetary exploration back
This scanning mini game is an insult to the game IMHO.  you replace the driving with a rotation ball?  what kind of sick joke is that?  You can easily make the game more reachable by providing option, if you are lazy, fire a reusable probe and let the probe fly around do the scanning, but you get only certain percentage of the resources, which can be improved by upgrading the probe,  the probe can come up with hard to scan area, where we can choose to drop down to the planet and drive around, with more surprise and with effort, more reward of resources and story learning option.

- Tech blue print should be better used
Don't just hand them out as teammate story reward, blind more story to the technology.  new teammate can remember places and people who has the right stuff, and requiring specific skill another team mate you might need would gives the story a whole extra complexity in story and need of relationship building to work on.

- Better use of normandy
It's a battle cursier, not a shuttle bus.  find some action for it please, fight the pirate or be a pirate, make all the upgrade more useful, please give the ship more purpose.

- Give me reason to replay the game
The game is worth replaying only if there's some option I missed and I have no way to recover unless I play it again.   People's relationship is one, if I don't take this guy out often, don't show me the little secret and don't give me the special mission or this new tech or new weapon or maybe even DLC?

- Let me arm my people.
Let me put some steel plate onto my people like in ME1, it was fun, and it gives more reasons to shop around and purpose to use the money.

though I have lots of complain with ME2, it's still a very good game, I love the idea of bigger normandy, having a smart AI and R&D capability is a brillian idea, picking up better gun from one shop other than another doesn't make all the sense, discovery tech and build it in ship is a perfect idea.  The game is still a lot of fun, keep up the good work, looking forward to the ME3 content.

well hopefully we can. i kinda noticed a independice day feel to me2 wich was fine cause i just love these games. i think what really needs to be in mass effect 3 is either a battle on earth or a battle on mars since humans found the technology on mars according to the me opening

here's a thought I had for ME3, for a male Shep. Assuming that the male Shep had a LI in ME1, it's then revealed in ME3 that the either Ashley or Liara had a kid (could explain why Ash was so pissed at Shep in ME2. Hmm). that kid could then be kiddnapped by the Reapers to get to Shepard. Could also be worked to be from an ME2 LI.

again, just a thought.

I would like to be able to talk to my companions without having to worry about activating a romance that I don't want. It always seems like if you're nice to the companion, you activate the romance. If your neutral or a jerk to them, then your not. How about a option to be nice to them but remain friends. I would also like it if all companions were able to really open up to you without the need of romancing (e.g. Thane and Garrus). When I watched the youtube video of especially the thane romance, I was sitting there wondering why that couldn't happen to my maleshep minus the actual romancing part.

In short, I want to be close friends with my companions. Not LI's or people that I treat like crap in order to avoid activating a LI. I also want for companions to really open up to you without the need for a romance (e.g. Thane Garrus).

I'm going to mention this because I don't believe it can be said enough.
I'm sick and tired of Paragon automatically meaning dorky and peace loving. For ME3 i'd like to see a Paragon that doesn't risk his life trying to save every bad guy while staring down a gun to the face. There should be more action behind Paragon options. Instead of telling a cornered whimpy bad guy to leave and hope that he does that whimpy bad guy should attempt to pull a gun on Shepard only to have his arm broken or end up with at least a bloody nose. Being a Paragon doesn't mean you spare everyone the pain of being in your way....it just means you won't take delight in setting them on fire as opposed to shooting them in the knee.

I also think that Renegade actions should become even more evil. Draw a distinction between the two moral options. A Renegade would set up an automatic self destruct on an unattended ship to prevent pursuit. Given the same choice a Paragon messes up their targeting and flight controls so they fly down instead of up or right instead of left.

It should be fun to play a Paragon too!
