Remove the Renegade/Paragon points ===> More conversation options system.
It forces you to play an extreme renegade/paragon character to gain the necessary points for solving party disputes in a sensible manner.

WHY WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR ME3? Why can't BioWare make an expansion that improve some rpg aspects in ME2 (i'm not speaking about a skills system... now!)? In NWN They allaw us, whit an expansion, to fully customize ours characters (armours and weapons!!!). This is simple to improve... NOW!
Let us to set the left arm armour different by the right arm armour (like in NWN!)! And let us to customize ours teammate too... Why remove this choice, this possibility? I'm speaking about an inventory/craft system.
I can't understand why we have to use clips for ammo/weapons... this is not the future i've loved in ME1.
I'd like to interact much more whit the npc (like in fallout 3: ok, maybe we can't kill them, ok, but let us speak whit them plz!!! Are npc dummyes? Naaaa!!! I hope i'll see something like, npc's life! Like in Oblivion!).
Why can't we destroy everything when we use havy weapons like the Cain? Why??? I'm speaking about the world's parts, elements (in ME1 i remeber i can destroy much more than in ME2. In GOW2, whit the torque bow, u can do seriousely damage in the "world" behind u -GOW2 use the same engine-).
I've sold my Dragon Age collector's edition copy... because is NOT "realistic" as i supposed it can be. I will NOT sell my copy of ME2. Just because i wanna see if BioWare will improve what i'm waiting 4. MUCH REALISM!
Maybe we can jump (like in GOW, i think...) and crouch...
Let us to have some random encounters against spaces pirates, ghets...and don't let the galaxy "die" when we finish all the main quests or side quests! Have we really killed them all? Make some random encounters to respawn! IT'S A GALAXY!
Maybe we can have some battle whit the Normandy. Let us buy (it's an idea) medigels on the ship. Show us people on Normandy living like in a military ship!
Paragon/renegade system pts doesn't works: isn't all black or white!
And the skills systems doesn't work too! Let me report here what "lukandroll" says: "I believe ME2 is more a shooter than Action RPG like its predecesor. The chance to hit a target is not represented on the character talents, but yours as a player, that's wrong from a role playing aspect; because you are "role playing" yourself, and not the character. I dont have to go too far away for this, for instance, take FALLOUT 3, even when you aim and shoot with a energy weapon, if your character does not have the right amount of "Energy Weapons" talent, he will miss, that's basic gameplay in a action role playing game. Because THE CHARACTER is not skilled enought to use the weapon, in that case It really DOESN'T matter if you are good or not at aiming, that's why you are role playing the character.".
We all hope in less linearity...
What about the Citadel????
Plz, improve the texture quality...

I didn't read the entire thread, only the first ten pages and the last three ones, so if I'm reapeting something, excuse me.
I would like less linearity and more challenge in combat against the badass characters.
Common, the real enemies are the Collectors, but after Horizon they are mainly wimps, since you will have access to better upgrades.
A pack of Blue Suns, Eclipse, Blood Packs and Geth are more trouble to put'em down than the enemies on the Collector station!
One of the most difficult missons of the game are the IFF Reaper if you play it on hardcore mode, not the final fight (don't need it to be on insanity).
I didn't known that husks are the major threat to the galaxy, not the Reapers.
The RPG side was too downed in ME2 too, like trading, conversation, inventory management, etc.
I didn't see Garrus for two years and we have nothing to talk, except revenge and war?
And we know each other, so we have a better intimacy than the rest of the crew, but Shepard/Jacob are more open to each other than Shepard/Garrus?
Common Bioware, you can make it better!
The side-missions are another concern. Go to another planet to blow something or turn on some equipment.
More diversity.
The puzzles in the "N7: Abandoned Research Station" are somewhat dull, I think it will not hurt if at least one of them was a hard one, like the "Tower of Hanoi" in Noveria (don't wanna think? No problem, use A LOT of omni-gel
. In this case Shepard have to spend a substancial ammount of money or minerals).
I've found that Thane's loyalty mission is one of the best, you don't have to shoot a single shot to complete her (except one
). I really would like more missions or side-missions like this one, where you can solve problems without firing a weapon.
Yes, there are somes but I wish there are more.
As the Paragon/Renegade, ME did a great job, since they are not black and white.
Yes, you can convince someone to do or talk something good, but if you intimidate him or her you are still playing dirty, regardless your intentions.
So you gain Paragon AND Renegade points (or a lot of Renegade and a few Paragon).
And the people complaining about the system forget that in the first game you're only able to maximize the two equally if you cheat on Noveria.
As everyone complain, I would also like to use my helmet without have to return to the Normandy!
Imagine this: you are a soldier at war and you are using a cap, but later you want to put a helmet for better protection.
Your entire squadron have to return to base, because you can't carry one with you!
In the load scenes are a message telling me "Armor are not only stylish", but the DLCs armors are only this.
Fashion.
And they look horrible in a female Shepard.
Oh, and I would like a "wait" command for my squadron.
Put them in a cover position an tell them to wait will be sweet.

Expand the game, build up on what you have, DO not take even more away (the citadel is smaller then my flat, big deal).
Though the areas are not that repetitive as in ME and fun, everything seems smaller, even the "primary missions".
I miss exploring the planets, most people seems not to miss it because the planets were boring. Heck what do you expect from a wasteland-rock/vulcan/icy world anyway? The land textures were great (look at other games, when not using grass or something similar.... the games use 256x256 textures that repeat way too often, when you look at a plain it have a chessboard-mosaik-design, not so in ME) and ME had the best skys.
People are bi....ing around about the Mako. I know the console controls werent that great, but they are better on PC. And, I never had problems with the Mako... again, what do you expect? When you drive at full speed over a 90° cliff and the Mako falls on the roof, whose fault is it, BWs because of the bad controls, or the players?
I can only agree with Euno17. For ME3, BioWare should add and build up on what they have, fix and improve whats not working (at all or partialy) and NOT remove stuff completely.
When you look at ME2 it becomes pretty obvious it was designed for console only and console-gamers in mind. Btw, reading through various posts it becomes quite clear, who is a console gamer and who not

@Euno17, I agree with you wholeheartedly on what you said to Taxonomical. The final Mass Effect needs to be more expanded, not simplified for a shooter-only fanbase. Its people like that that give the Halo series WAY too much credit.
I'm a console gamer, but I have no idea what that means to any of you, but what I do know is that Mass Effect 3 needs to be the best of the series. End it with a bang. So there is no reason anything that was RPG-esque should be removed entirely.
Sorry. I have another idea which will come after this, but I needed to say this first

I saw a couple posts here about the possibility in ME3 of Shepard FINALLY losing his cool in some instance or situation. I like that, and I have an idea to expand on that idea:
So say at one point both your ME1 and ME2 love interests are in serious trouble and there's a point where one of them dies (either by a choice you were forced to make or by someone else's hand). Shepard could get extremely depressed and act out in rage; make unreasonable orders afterwards. One of your squad could confront Shepard, a fight could ensue, and eventually Shepard realizes that as of right now he's unfit for command and temporarily relinquishes command to one of your other squad (has to be a loyal member), and you take over as that squad member for a brief amount of time.
I borrowed the idea from the confrontation between Spock and Kirk in the newest Star Trek movie. I think it would add a whole new level of emotion to Shepard.

Shepard needs to die or a pull a Revan at the conclusion of ME3. The Commander's life would be unfulfilled as a living symbol or some sort of diplomat, even as a military leader quelling splinter group uprisings.

Bring back big missions with more story
ME2's missions are all very similar- Get from point A to point B by shooting through waves and waves of enemies.
Mass effect 1's missions had far more story, mystery, and interest. The missions unfurled as you played them, slowly revealing why the colonists on feros were acting strange, or what is going on on noveria. Yes the combat has improved for ME2, now bring back the RPG story elements. I want mission variety, with plots, and more than just shooter action!
Also more missions like Thane's Loyalty quest and Samara's quest: Missions without combat that are about espionage, dialog, exploration and negotiation.
Also, where are all the Hanar NPC's gone? More Hanar PLS. A trip to Kahje would be awesome, even as just a side mission.

Also let's revisit old locations, even just as side missions, to see how they've developed. Revisiting feros, for example, would be cool. Perhaps if you were a renegade in ME1, the colony is struggling, and if you were paragon, the colony is thriving.
It'd be cool to have a system where not all squadmates are recruitable on each playthrough- Perhaps a squadmate who will only ally with you if you're paragon, or one that will only join if you're renegade. Or Wrex, for example is recruitable, but only if you saved him in Mass Effect 1 (this could apply to any killable squadmate from me1 or 2) This system would reward multiple playthroughs. As would making locations such as Feros, the Citadel etc look different depending on your previous choices.
ME2 was all about the combat. Now that combat is brillaint, let's really put the icing on the cake and have ME3 master the story and rpg elements!

I want boxes. Lots and lots of boxes. And I want Tali to sit on those boxes. Then I want Tali to eat a box of wafer sticks. Afterwords, I want Tali to wear all those boxes and transform herself into some sort of walking, cardboard box Gundam-esque creature. Then she gains new powerful abilities such as growing 6 stories tall, and shoot laser-beams out of her eyes, while carrying you and your squad on her shoulders.

I want surpressesd weapons for the infiltrator class and stealth to play a major role when playing that class. In ME2 over the radio you hear about shepards mother who was offered admiralty from the alliance, it would be cool if she excepted it and we finally get to meet her. And Talis home planet needs to be liberated.

Wow, what a huge topic. I wouldn't really know where to begin except to tell BioWare to take their time with ME3 because with all the expectations and build-up from ME 1 and 2, there is so much to cover.
I hope to see all of our main characters from 1 + 2 come back in ME3 with significance. And while they took some aspects away from ME1, and replaced them with different things in ME2, primarily the Mako and Inventory, I'd like to see some of that come back; I'd like to go for a few spins in the Mako, but not have to spend endless hours *having* to drive it everywhere, and I'd like to have the variety of armor, weapons and upgrades back - yet I don't miss having to sort through the absolute piles of items. I sort of wish both of those things were moderated a little bit rather than being completely eliminated in ME2.
I just posted this in another thread, but probably worth mentioning here... I don't know that this would work with ME3 since it's the cap for the trilogy on Shepard's story, but I think what was done with character creation in Dragon Age would be incredibly well suited for the Mass Effect 'verse. I didn't really get into the gameplay and environments (read: graphics and linearity) of Dragon Age, but I couldn't help but think and hope that the character creation was a warm-up for BioWare to possibly use in a future ME game. To be able to create your own Turian, Quarian, or human character with adept, infiltrator, soldier, etc. class abilities would be so awesome. And to have that character give a unique perspective to the story, as well as different ending potentials, just as it was done in DA, would just be incredible. Just keep the graphics, combat system, and everything else from ME the same please! And don't make it an MMO. I'd like to see a real non-MMO KOTOR 3 as well!

I strongly believe that if Bioware put the time and effort they could create a strong multiplayer component that could surpase CODMW2, maybe a downgraded version of what there doing with The Old Republic since ME has such rich characters and such a massive and complex universe, Im not saying they should do it but its worth considering as long as it doesnt take away from the main story.

As a general rule i was very happy with the changes to ME2, the only things that could have been even better were the character interactions - i want more!!!!!!! Only having like five convos where what they have to say is different isn't enough for me, i want the ability to have more convos more often and just plain more in depth!
Other than that the only thing i REALLY didn't like was the inability to customize the color of my squads clothes.... i wanted everyone to match but when you're wearing black/red but Garrus is wearing black/blue and then Miranda is wearing black/orange it just really doesn't look good....

Looting and taking drops should be counted as a Renegade action. RPG gamers have ignored the moral implications of looting so long since it's such an entrenched game mechanic but it's literally stealing the possessions of people you've killed. As an alternative to cheap easy loot, Paragon gamers should be able to sell minerals and research contracts as well as build good relationships with merchants, who can supply stock for their whole ship. That's one thing that's been bugging me.

What I think should happen is a mix between the ME1 system and the ME2 system. What im meaning is, that we can loot weapons, and armor and customize it but we can still get the upgrades for it too. Also instead of planet scanning it'd be great to pick the required materials/parts for these upgrades, and/or possible assemble weapons and armors out of these materials. You would get these materials and parts from side missions so there's more of an incentive to do them, rather then some credits. An example of this would be if you killed a Thresher maw on foot or something, you could harvest and skin that Thresher maw's natural armor to egineer a suit of armor for your crew. Kind of like killing a dragon in BG2 and making armor out of it's scales(except you wouldn't pay for it).
For the loot system I'd really like to see some uniques. It'd be great if these uniques could be random loot that drops off of a certain enemy, and a fixed drop from a boss. However if there would be a random drop right, it would have to be high enough to drop per playthrough without grinding, so the game doesn't turn into a grind fest. As an example, say you went a mission were you fight Geth, one of those geth during that mission have a chance of dropping a geth rifle in that mission or another one involving Geth. For the fixed drops I'd really like to see them drop off of really hard boss battles, like the Thresher maw example I mentioned above. Also it would be awesome if the bosses could have a unique design, like an experimental husk like creature, or an advanced gunship, and the list goes on.

auto remove helmets from the unique armor sets when in conversations, odd to kiss Liara while wearing a helmet. or better yet only have the helmets/head pieces only appear when in combat areas.
Since the Mass Effect 1 Sirta foundation mission seems to be set to fail no matter what the player does, a side mission to make it possible help save(paragon) or eliminate(renegade) the possibility of Sirta foundation buyout / merger from another company in Mass Effect 2 so Sirta Foundation will continue to exists in ME 3
access armor selection from the docking door when outside the Normandy 2 so as to skip unnecessary loading. so it appears under Board Normandy and Request Crew Member button.

The thing I like most about this series is that its like playing a movie. Here is what I want besides what I already like:
1. After story play - I wanna be able to tie all the loose ends up while having TiM and Cerb after me because I blew the base up. So make something like that.
2. Miranda
3. Miranda's sister
4. Bigger important to the romance part of the game - I would like the romantic choices to effect game play earlier on and in bigger ways.
5. A homestead - I think being able to own some properties would be cool (Think Fable II)

I hope that the combat will not be as foreseeable and Gears of War-like in ME 3.
In ME 2 everytime you saw some cover you knew that a horde enemies was rushing out of some doors, a fight ensued and when the game autosaved you knew you had won.
I wish for a more organic, realistic combat experience which doesn't follow the same forumla every time.

Please bring back the original HUD radar showing party member and nearby enemy movements.

Let's see.....
- More explorable planets and cities. On ME2 the Citadel seemed really small compared to ME1 and that was kinda a let down especially knowing how big the Citadel really is.
- No more probing planets for resources. I think I rather deal with the Mako because probing planets become really boring. Fast.
- I guess in someway I miss the elevator scenes instead of having a loading screen. It was entertaining to hear my team mates talk to each other and listening in to the news reports.
- More noticeable background music. I really loved the music from ME1 but I noticed that in ME2 when you walk around the cities there is no music (well, besides the clubs of course). I guess what I'm trying to say is that ME2 sounds a little too quiet.
- Also, a pet Varren would be nice too!

BioWare,
You guys are smart, so I probably don't need to say this, but please ignore all these people that are requesting you to unfix the things that you fixed about the original Mass Effect. The Mako controlled horribly, scavenging planets for resources sucked, and the inventory system made me want to pull my hair out. You made the game leagues better than it was.
The people that are complaining on here just don't know what they want, so they are romanticizing about the past and thinking that (somehow) that was better. Just ignore it please.
Now, that is not to say that the new ideas that are being proposed on here shouldn't be considered -- those you definitely should consider. I'm just saying (and I'm sure most others would agree) please don't use Mass Effect 3 as a vessel to take us back to Mass Effect 1 (when we all agree that Mass Effect 2 is much better). Take us to new ground; show us new stuff.
I like the idea of visiting Earth. I like the idea of having more ways of customizing your crew (while still keeping the systems simple and easy to navigate). I also like the idea of dog-fights in space (though the Normandy doesn't seem very agile).
Anyway, just wanted to say that Mass Effect 2 rocks and anyone who thinks the last game is better (in any fashion) is absolutely nuts.
Also, just as a side note, this thread is getting pretty huge. Any thoughts on breaking it up into categories (like HUD, weapons, customization, etc.)? I'm tempted to do it myself, but I'm not sure if once I do I'll be greeted by a giant uprising of forum trolls screaming at me because my actions have unhinged the balance of the time-space-continuum.
