for the Galaxy map, the labels that tell you where stuff is, (like Omega, the Citadel, etc...) make the backgrounds transparent. I find it REALLY FRAKKING HARD to pilot and remember where my ship is when it's behind those labels.

Also, make it where enemies don't have regenerative health/shields/armor/barrier and that they don't flank you, they're a pain in the ass on Insanity.

I think the point of the Insanity difficulty is that it's INSANLY hard :P

I'm with Darth_Griffin on this, wanting the hardest difficulty less... difficult doesn't sound like a game fault.Image IPB

And as much as I hate referencing mechanics in other games that work that BioWare should snatch up, I was very very very worried about the suicide mission as my AI squad mates had not filled me with the greatest confidence that they could hold their own in a fire fight. I had the fear that during the final run if a squadmate was "incapacitated" by sheer firepower that they would not be able to be revived (obviously this fear was groundless) but too many times my squad mates would either:
a) sit behind cover and do nothing
B) fire off one or two shots every few minutes while spending the rest of their time behind cover
or c) (and this is my favourite)
They'd stand up while enemy numbers were thickest, let off a couple of rounds while they are getting shot six ways till sunday and not have the mind to get down until they are put down.

EDIT Note: Forgot to include the initial point I was trying to make Image IPB I think utilizing a "Defensive/Aggressive" stance mechanic with squadmates would be ideal, much like Army Of Two you can tell Salem (or Rios if you went the other) if you want him to advance, take cover, follow you and if you wanted him to do so aggressively or defensively. That'd go a long way to stop my squad mates from biting the dust, I'm not too shabby in combat but I can't kill every enemy in the room in time before my dense squaddie gets LAZORD because he doesn't want to take cover.

Forgot to mention, and even though it's most likely been mentioned 20 times already in this thread.

Ammo system! This needs to be fixed for the next one.

I'm sure somebody already wrote this (but so many people write here that I'm not able to read everythingImage IPB); I'd love it if the LI played a (big?) role again (and many other squad members, at least the most popular ones, too, of course). If they died during the last mission (respectively if Thane was Separd's LI and ME3 takes part more than a year after ME2) you could see Shepard at her/ his burial.

And many, many missions and new NPCs. Image IPB

EDIT: Another way of getting ressources than scanning, please.

I myself had a romance with a squad mate in ME2, but for those that didn't.... Give a big payout to those people who stayed faithful through the game! Make Ashley or someone part of the crew again, if not a squadmate.

(I imagine someone else has mentioned this, or many people, but I didn't bother to read through)

Squadmate Wishlist
All Squadmates from ME1 and ME2 along with Kal Reegar and some new Batarian squadmate.  I would also love some alien crew on the Normandy.  I missed talking to hanar in this game.

More Indepth Romance  This is the last part to Commander Shepard's story.  Please have a bit more in there then talk, talk, flirt, flirt, intimate encounter hours before everyone might die.  It's Shepards last hurrah lets have him/her really fall in love.  Let the love story be part of the central storyline of the game.  That and I'd love to see other people comment on the relationship.

No Bandage Garrus I love the scars but could he get the bandage removed

All Squadmates Available  I loved recruiting people but I missed out on being able to take people on certain missions because of their availablity.  I would love to have all squadmates available or recruitable in the beginning of ME3

Don't Punish the Neutral ME1 and 2 are designed so that your are most successful if you go almost fully renegade or paragon.  Some of us like the gray area.  Is it possible to create neutral territory as well?

I totally agree on the "more indepth romance" point. It was never really a romance, spending the night together before they go out on some "suicide mission".

I like the "ammo" system. running out of ammo in a fire fight gives it a more desperate feeling so i hope that stays...i hope they add a heat damage system to it....like say if you dont "reload" you can still keep firing..but it can damage your weapons effectiveness, jam it or if fired for too long destroy it, kinda of like if your firing a squad automatic weapon..you can fire it as long as you have a drum of ammo..but if you are not careful it melts the barrel (like the SAW or any current real life machine gun).

i want more exploration. ME1....dispite the wonky controls of the tank had the open planets to land on and explore...although kinda dull cause of no real "life" on the planets....random underground bunker and random warehouse only goes so far...i can understand you cant put fleshed out colonies without having stuff scrpited here and there without some serious effort, time, and production...but it would be awesome to be able to land on a planet see freindly and aggressive wild life and the occasional town/colony..or even a city like the planet discriptions somtimes have.  Especially Earth!!!

Expanded citidel....nuff said.

I like the new normandy the way it is....even the flying around bit...not so much the probing..but its tolerable. i would like to see a ship to ship fight though....dont know how that would be accomplished..but it would be awesome to have space battle like the old colony wars games or somthing like eve online....would give even more purpose to the ship upgrades...frigate to frigate fights.... or fights where your ambushed by pirates in a destroyer or somthing normally too big for a frig to destroy on its own..but your on the normandy and its got more punch than a bigger ship would think it would have.....you damage the ship bad enough and they land on the nearest planet..and bam..you follow them down and take them out...would be cool.

over all length...i hope ME3 is like ME1 and ME2 put together then doubled...heh.

Seriously...just make a huge MMO of this universe and put the kind of production you did with the games..lol.

very tall order.....possible?? absolutely.....Likely?  probobly not..but oh the thought   ::day dreams::

oh....this has nothing to do with it..but come on.....show some love for FEM shepard.  Image IPB

err expand the romance part..to more of a relationship thing....like..you get to know somone....you score..then you have to keep it up or it will go sour....or even turn bad.....would be a neat story to have somone betray you if you dont treat them right.

I think Mass Effect 1 got it right, it was tasteful. I'm not sure they'd want to make it any more graphic than that and push the rating to 18 because then some younger players from ME1&2 couldn't play ME3  and see the final part of the trilogy which would really hack them off.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, because frankly it seems like a rather dumb idea, but as I took a look at couple of other players' Commander Shepards, I was truly amazed at how good/unique their PC's looked. This got me thinking...

What if Bioware had an ally character in ME 3 that you could customize yourself?

It sounds like a longshot (actually, a longshot AT a longshot), and I think most people would rather worry about customizing just -their- Commander Shepard... and in those cases, there would be a "preset" model to the party character. But for those of us who take delight in making our Shepard's look the best they can, I think with the addition of this idea to ME 3, it would really put it over the top in terms of the trilogy.

Potentially crafting the perfect romance character... having them look like whatever you wished them to look like (see: dream girl), or even adjusting them to look like a friend... or that girl you secretly admire! :P

I thought about making a thread on this, but to be quite honest I'm not familiar with these forums at all, and so I thought it'd be better placed here.

Thoughts?

I really like this idea ...guessing most of the female love interests would end up like Miranda. I think species should be a choice.

My 2 cent ...

* Ability to sell / buy resources for credits

* A mix between scanning, ME2 N7 mission and vehicle based missions in the main game

* armor options for team mates

* more weapon options. bring the customizing slots in weapons back instead make it a skill

* better textures in-game for armor

I've finished ME 2 twice now and I MUST say that ME 1 was MUCH MUCH MUCH better!!!

Where are the real RPG elements gone and where did the non-linear story line go? Did they get abducted by the Collectors or something???...

Characters lack... well, character and depth. There's nothing to make you feel attached to any of them. It's all just a bad joke. In ME 1 I was simply hooked to all the stories, from Kaidan, to Ashley and to Liara. ME 2 is just a cheap sequel. The sort they make in Holywood just to make more bucks.

Bioware probably took down the original ME 2 website because they realised that the game doesn't quite measure up to it... They replaced it with the cheap version there's currently online because they probably realised that this is more appropriate for the total lack of quality of the current game.

So, Bioware, if you're planning to make ME 3 some FPS/action type game just let us know so we don't waste our money on it.

And by the way, I'm back to paying the good old ME 1.

My wishlist.

ME2 desicions actually effecting some ouutcomes in ME3. Like if kal reeger was saved or how you dealt with kohlyat. Make decisions like that add more to the next game

More indepth romance and friendshops. In ME2 iwhen I first recruited garrus it fealt like you were best buds or brothers but you can only talk to him 2 times excluding his loyalty mission request. I romanced tali and I very mutch so enjoyed her loyalty mission but her romance was pretty brief and not as interactive as it could have been. I want a better relationship with my crew. Especialy tali and garrus because uve been with them from the begining.

Costimize squad armor. Its nice that my shep is special but it sucks having your squad ware the same default cloths.

Most of the ideas of the original poster are total bullsh*t. It basically says that he wants ME1 back.

I have only two requests. Make ME3 not be like ME1. We don't need all that crap back into our game.  Second. No more stupid planet scanning.

my wishlist...

- more dialogues with your squad mates and LI (plus Joker and Chakwas) → unfortunately we don't have a lot of dialogues in ME2, if you don't have romance with a particular squad mate, you can't talk to them later.. :/  i think, ME1 just had more dialogues..
- activities with your squad mates and LI (something like mini-games such as playing cards, drinking.. etc.)
- more conflicts to solve (between your squad mates - it was really cool in ME2)
- each squad mate should have their own cabin (personalized too)
- squad mates should be more "mobile"; they should walk, not only be at their 'work place', for example -> if you're passing them, they react saying e.g. 'hi'; if you want to talk to them, you contact them by intercom or something like that, then pick the place where you want to meet them e.g. the mess or their cabin. etc.)
- definitely there should be the mess (not like in ME1 and 2 - i mean it should be bigger) and drink bar ;) (i know - more cabins, bar and mess would mean 'a bigger ship', but what's the problem to make it bigger?:))
- dialogues again.. if you chose one option it shouldn't be displayed again.. i think, it'd be more realistic
- Earth! as most people here said - we should visit our planet ;)
- more clothes and better "character editor" (more possibilities)
- more places like big stations (e.g. Omega, Citadel)
- NO planet scanning... we could trade/buy sources somewhere or just make something like "automatic scanner" :P (yeah, i'm lazy)
- adding something like "point screen" (e.g. in your mission computer) where you can add points for all of your squad mates (as far as i'm concerned, there's not anything like that)
- bring back our LI from ME1 :)
- also helmets and armor for your squad mates (e.g. jack, miranda, mordin...)

i'd love to see all of these things in ME3:)

Character development:
  • Higher levels: It would be nice to go higher than level 30. It is perfectly acceptable with the quantity of skills you can have now, but with more skills you should be able to reach higher levels, which is my next wish =)
  • More skills: I like the way they are implemented in ME2 with 4 skill levels but, it would be great to have more skills, because in the end all builds of a class will look the same(or very similar). More skills means more strategic builds and more replayability with the same class.
Gameplay:
  • Planet scanning: Someone said in another thread. Make it something like scan only once, the whole planet, after that all points of interest(resources and missions perhaps) appear on the planet. An upgrade for the scanning system would find more points of interest and/or would gather more resources.
  • Fix the credits system: I don't mean to upset you saying that it is broken, but having limited credits ingame apart from betting games is not great. Being able to sell stuff, or getting credits from missions, but please make it that you are able to buy all the upgrades possible.
More Quests: What it says.
Rich story quests:What happened to the consort and the vision you had that meant the protheans were spying on us for a long time. Give us quests that teach us stuff about this universe, instead of just finding these bleeding mercenaries everywhere .
Story related side quests: Optional missions that give you a greater understanding of the story, and maybe even a leverage against the enemy. Mass effect lore is amazing, please use and abuse it. You can play a lot around the protheans, and other races that fought the Reapers.
Smart up the quests: Smart up == !Dumb down. I apologize for bringing up other games, but since this was made by Bioware, I guess it is forgivable. BG2, yes... I remember when Aerie died, and how I found out a way to revive her by reading in game books, and discovering the forgotten realms lore. It was beautiful, and I felt really smart and fulfilled afterwards :)

Make our choices have bigger meaning:I know that is probably what you are going for with all your companions being able to die on the suicide mission, and pushing the Quarians vs Geth war, and having the genophage research from Mordin's loyalty quest, etc... But I got disappointed when I found out that it didn't matter if you killed the Council, or not, the only thing that changed was the conversation you would have. So, you only chose who would ****** you off on that conversation really, council, Anderson or Udina :P. The same with the Ashley/Kaidan conversation in Horizon. Ok, I understand that you are telling a story with multiple choices, and doing the way I wish was done, would make the game exponentially bigger work-wise. But that is why this is a wish-list :kissing:

Edit: More conversations like we had in the elevators: I guess I am one of the not so few that liked the elevators. The dialogues were great, and Garrus + Tali homage in the citadel was very funny.

Other than that, the game is perfect, thanks Bioware for these great games<3

More places to explore in the third one would be nice but so far I've thoroughly enjoyed these two games.  What I really hope to see above all us is the ability to recruit any of your previous teammates, providing they lived of course.  Particularly being able to recruit those involved in the romantic side quests.

I'd also like to find out if we can track down the Batarian criminal Balak in the asteroid x57 dlc from the first game.  I chose to let him go to save the hostages and it would be nice to finally be able to nail the freak.

I think I'm fine without the mako though I do agree that some of the mission's in two are too linear.  Some more locale variety would go a  long way to making those missions more intriguing.

I would also love to become intricately involved in the Quarian / Geth conflict.  Solving that to save the galaxy would just be cool.

And finally, I hope that the Reaper threat won't just be some weak easily seen solution.  I hope for something extraordinary to happen.  I don't know what.  Surprise me.  Just make it one of those "OMG" moments.  =]

As much as people are complaining about the plot in ME2, we don't know how any of the events are going to progress in ME3. If the Hammerhead DLC is any indication, the story is probably not done yet. The tank is free and to me that means they're going to use it as an integral part for the new content from there on.

My suggestion for ME3 is more missions with assigned task groups, like the Suicide Mission. If every main story mission in ME3 was like that how intense would that be? Since the galaxy's fate is at stake anyway, why not up the ante and make every little decision during a mission matter even more?

I would recommend whatever paid content Bioware comes out with to have that format for ME2, like if you're taking down the Shadow Broker and finding out his connection to the Collectors / Reapers. Split the team into a tank group to take out the air defenses, a security disabling group requiring a tech specialist to shut off the base lockdown, an shadow team Shepard leads through the back with Liara, and a diversion team that Garrus/Miranda/Jacob leads to keep the base defenses thinking they're attacking the front. You make a wrong choice and that part of the mission fails and SB gets away, forcing a restart or having to deal with SB's info not being available from then on. ME3 implications.

Of course, it would be kinda cheesy if you have an easy time of choosing the right people so at least one Virmire kind of choice of pick one and lose the other should come up too. Do I see a Kaidan - Jacob or Miranda - Ashley choice coming up? How about a Garrus - Tali choice?

In addition, make gathering information prior to and during missions beneficial, providing small XP bonuses for asking people questions in conversation and maybe mid-mission bonuses. A good ME2 example would be Tali's recruitment mission with Kal'Reegar. He tells you the layout of the battlefield and in this method, you'd gain a small health bonus for knowing what to expect.

If you think about it, you could pick the right options on the conversation wheel, which advance the conversations and get you back in the action, and you'd be just fine without knowing anything other than you have to kill stuff and reach end objective.

There was a little bit of this in ME2, with Samara's loyalty mission and how talking to the Admirals with Tali's changes your paragon/renegade speech, but more of it would make the player have to pay attention to every conversation and the rewards would make it easier on you (or essential on Insanity hehe).
