I absolutely agree with figuare9!

Increase the inventory. More inventory than in ME2 (which was nothing), and less than ME1 (My GOD how many weapons you collected!). I missed the selling in ME2. By the way; I would absolutely LOVE to be able to customize my weapons! Assembling different parts of the weapons would give us (players) a feeling of great freedom! There was no such thing in ME2, but in ME1 you could assemble small, small things (there was great results!).

About the levels that makes the game more challenging: I sort of liked the sorts of levels that were in ME1 (Electronics, Sniper Rifles), but they were too many (sorry). By the way, there were difficulties in ME2. I would like to give an example, but NO SPOILERS ALLOWED Posted Image

The vehicle. Loved it! I did however not enjoy the long rides. I only liked the driving when I had a goal. Just exploring a planet for minerals or anomalies was boring, but it was fun when you had a goal.

The Citadell: YES! Make the Citadell larger! My god, I suffocated in ME2.

About the linearity, I would love some crucial choices; such as if you should take on a fortified position, held by enemies, through the main entry, through a "backdoor" or by using a more explosive way.

One of the things I did not agree on was that the Normandy should land. GOD I hate not to use references (SPOILERS)!

Another thing that I personally think would be great for ME3 is to re-introduce the long walks/trips. Like, when you dock/land you must exit the Normandy and take some elevators down/up. The elevators gave me (as a player) the feeling that everything was big and had dimension. In ME2 you just told when you wanted to go, and voilá, you were almost INSTANTLY there!

There are two things I considered really bad in ME2:
1. When you were on a planet/station and made progress, you were automatically sent to the Normandy and the Normandy just took off! It happened that all I wanted to do was to change weapons, customize my armour, and when I got on board the Normandy the ship just flew away! I think that the ship should only move when you actually TELL IT TO!
2. When you got a new team member, there were only one or two (will not name them!) persons that greeted him/her. I think that the entire team should have been introduced. This problem gave me the feeling that the team-members actually do not have any idéa who they are with. I wanted to see them more together. Maybe see them discuss something and bond. Sure, sometimes they were together, but it was either too little or too hostile.

I hope that someone in charge of making ME3 will see this post. I want the end of the trilogy to be an epic experience!

I would like to see more squadmate interaction, especially from squadmates from ME1. I'm really sad Wrex and Liara didn't say anything to Garrus or Tali.

I miss being able to click on my squadmates and them having interesting comments during missions too.

Counta, you covered a lot of what I would add. Unfortunately, I doubt we will get most of that. Why would they revert to ME1 mechanics, after all? Some of those points are so obvious it's hard to believe they missed/removed them.

Something I would like to add, though, is the lack of dialogue with the opposite sex that does not lead to romance! I am holding myself out for Ashley in ME3, and all I want to do is make friends with my crew...but all they want is to have sex with me O.o

I think ME2 needs more depth in the following areas:

1. Leveling up. This could be like the system in ME1, perhaps with more opportunities to evolve your abilities as you progress.

2.New game plus needs more features. Right now it feels tacked on, with no real way to level up or track your progress with an experience score after beating the game once. It might be nice to be able to replay the missions aside from the story as a new game plus option, allowing you to get straight to the action. A more comprehensive list of achievements would be nice as well.

3.open world exploration. Doesn't have to be size of Oblivion, and it doesn't have to be the focus of the game, but having free reign in a large, populated area would be real cool. Maybe its just one planet. It would tie in nicely with the Hammerhead as your means of transportation.

4. More naked Asari. I think we can all agree on this :)

Provide in-mission incentives for using investigate option during conversation on missions.

The axiom 'Information is power' rings very true in the ME universe, why not have that apply to the mission format? Weapon and health boosts for finding out battlefield layouts or other tactical information, and requiring its usage for the most ideal paragon/renegade convincing options.

Lots of plot resolution :)

Also, more bug testing, when I was doing Tali's loyalty mission on insane, I ran into a glitch where my character was frozen somehow right after I went into cover, the only way to unfreeze is to get shot or reload a save, also, those glitches where you end up levitating.

More options and exploration. There shoud be multiple ways to resolve missions, not just combat and/or parley. Give us other options besides "save the princess or kick the puppy". Allow us to explore other paths, don't corridor us down a singular path and a singular door to get to, and into, the enemy stronghold. Give us rooftops, back alleys, hidden paths, windows, basements, skylights. I also want a combat roll/dodge.

Immediate consequences. It would be nice to see that since Shepard took down a Rancor all by himself, when engaged in combat, some enemies say "F*** this, I'm outa here" and flee. Or if your face is all scarred from renegade cybernetic rejection, people react to your facial scars. Some stare as you walk by, some just move away, others won't even look in the eye when you talk to them.

What I don't want is cut scene/game play disconnects. If you show me a cut scene where Shepard slides into a room on a serving cart, guns akimbo, shooting two baddies to his right and left, then I want to replicate that in game play. If you don't want me doing that, don't show it to me in a cutscene.

beautifully said i qoute from Destructoid.com- Postpartum Impressions: Mass Effect 2

The other thing I just thought of that I didn't touch on before, is that I also feel the exploration part of Mass Effect 2 was lacking...but I feel that they went from the extreme of Mass Effect 1, with there being far too much mindless/pointless stuff to do (like driving the Mako around) in virtually every galaxy you went to, as well as a lot of repetitive side quests, to almost nothing in ME2....
So, I guess I'd like a little more incentive to explore the galaxy, without it being reduced to visiting the same dungeon and fighting the same enemies over and over again. Even if it's just something like visiting a city that's non-cruicial to the story that sells weapons and stuff, or things that just help flesh out the game world a little more.

edit: more incentive to explore the galaxy, without it being reduced to visiting the same dungeon .. over again. Even if it's just something like visiting a big, beautiful, outdoor city that's non-cruicial to the story that lets your see the races culture, civilations, technology and sells weapons and stuff.

I'd like to see a return of the background/personal history missions. "Old, unhappy far off things" was one of my favourite missions in ME1. I know some people didn't like the idea of some badass Shep phoning home to talk to mom, but I thought it added something to the character. As Russell Crowe's character in "3:10 to Yuma" puts it "Even bad men love their mommas." "I remember me" and "Old friends" were also great. And of course, I loved being labelled the "butcher of Torfan" by Major Kyle, or having Elanos Haliat **** at me for saving Elysium. "You want me to thank you for my Star of Terra?" Anyway, I'd love to see a return of these personal history missions in DLC or ME3.

In ME3 I'd like to see more missions like the suicide mission. In other words, I'd like to see missions where you have to set up fire teams and specialists; missions where you feel like you're using your whole team rather than just the two at your flanks. Additionally certain missions could see you deploy 3-4 henchmen to fight at your side to provide a greater sense of scale. (although that might mess up the power-use dynamic)

Before ze reapers get here:

With the reapers on their way, Shep's going to need to mobilize more than just a team...s/he's going to need an army, or better yet, a fleet. Shepard can't be everywhere so it follows that s/he ought to choose to send away various team members to recruit others/build another team/ seek support from their own people (ie - Tali and the Migrant fleet, or perhaps Samara could go speak with the council on Thessia). Those team members would not be available to you for missions but depending on who you send, it might have a greater impact later in the game. Sending them off to rally support could also provide an opening to introduce new characters (or see the return of old friends). Hopefully those who carried a torch for their ME1 love interest will get that second chance. My Shepard misses her blue rose of... what planet is Liara from, anyway?

I'd like if there was Tali's sidemission or something else, to take back the Quarian homeworld.

I guess that would add some epic nice ending to the trilogy, if it all ends there.

A middle/follow-up Boss fight would be great.

I think it'd be awesome to trick us into thinking a certain character (like say "Harbinger") is the main bad guy. Have him antagonizing and fighting the character with his minions through a shell (Like say, an "assumed control of" an 'Avatar'. A "Human-Sized" Geth/Robot/Machine/Reaper thing. Make it looks absoultly demonic too like this: http://fusionfilter....per_bosskei.jpg) and then you manage to take it downw hile it's consciousness or something is inside of it like with Saren's avatar, and then we realize that... Harbinger was being controlled by a higher order of power... ZOMG plottwist! We find out the Reapers are indoctrinated themselves ZOMG but by what... ?

SURPRISE Cliff hangar! Wait for ME4 W00T!

God I hope that's meant to be sarcasm.

Stuff like this is how crap like Pirates of the Carribean 2 and 3, Mummy 2 and 3, and Matrix 2 and 3 get made.

Bigger/More does not necessarily mean better.

Um ok. No need to insult and berate my ideas. Just sharing them with the community.

The last part, however WAS sarcasm.

----

Another thing I hope is longer storyline. More powerful (in-depth) characters. I hope at-least all crew members have some in-depth backstory and structerizing. Possibly even an in-person Reaper boss fight. I can only imagine how hard / difficult it would be to fight something over 6,000 feet long.

Navigation/options request:

1. 'back/previous-buttons' at the beginning-on every option screen...

2. Increase/decrease font size for readability. (default-bioware's choice)

3. clearer hud.(wheel is fine, just the squads life/health bars)

4. Option: Toggle helmet off in conversation & on during combat. (default:always on/off if equipped)

5. Assign buttons: skip dialogue and dialogue-pick different buttons

I've been thinking of a few things that could be implemented in ME3 since my last reply:

1.Keep the gameplay,it's near perfection. Just expand it a bit more with different tactical approaches. In ME2 i only had a couple(e.g: pull an enemy and blast it with a concussive shot), i'd love to see more of these. Also more envrionmental attacks, there weren't enough here. I'd love to shoot a box or a ceiling above an enemy and splatter him all over the floor.

2.The story should have interesting twists in it, something really unexpected. Besides the main story, more loyalty missions would be nice, they really added depth to characters and were totally badass. Two more things about the story, i'd like to see all my choices made throughout the game in ME3 (the small ones can be emails), but the rest should be live(oh! and make the council decision from ME1 matter in ME3). My final wish for the story is the romantic interest, i'd love to see it impact Commander Shepard throughout the game (just a thought, maybe at the end if Shepard is in a tough spot,he could think about his romance option for a moral boost or something).

3. Multiple endings, i mean MULTIPLE (not 2 or 3) and at the end, i should be able to choose what my Shepard is going to do for the rest of his life(if he doesn't die, of course).

4.Make more missions like the suicide mission, where i have to use my whole squad.

5.I'd like to interact more with my squadmates, more dialogue options, interesting talks about the missions, etc. and i like the idea of DA:O where i could kiss my romance option (perhaps some hugs and such).Posted Image

6.Keep the inventory from ME2(it was great) and expand it.

7.(personal preference) I like the hacking system as a minigame :) please keep it! Make planet probing easier, i want to find my resources quickly.

8. Automated fish feeder. I usually forget about the fish after i come back from a mission and forget to feed them. Why do they die so fast, just...make it automated or make the fish immortal :D

9.Please! Show us Tali's face if we have her as a girlfriend!!!!!!!!!Posted Image

These are the ones i remembered, i'll come back if i think of more.
P.S. Keep the ME2 Theme/sountrack, it was sweeet!

I agree with Blackvista.

In order to defeat the Reapers, he needs to rally all the forces available. Like Tali convincing the Flotilla and Samara convincing the council of Thessia. Legion could rally the geth. Grunt could return to Wrex and get them. Garrus, the Turians (maybe tries to convince the Turian Councillor). Mordin convincing the Salarian Special Task Forces. Zaeed killing the leader guy of the Blue Suns and taking control. All that stuff and they meet the Reaper's head on when they arrive.

BTW - HAS NO ONE NOTICED THAT THE ILLUSIVE MAN'S EYES LOOK MECHANICAL

While there were quite a few complians about the Elevators in ME1 they helped tie the world together. You don't have to repleace them all, but it would help in a few sections of the game, like on Illium. Those would be a nice opportunity to add more party banter.

My suggestion would be: if you can have dialogue while sitting or standing around, then you should have.

Please do NOT bring back an inventory!
I just started playing Mass Effect 1 for the first time and I hate having to figure out what equipment and upgrades to use.
I'm glad I don't have to worry about in 2.

This is an RPG. Go play a shooter if you don't like inventories. Besides each ammo upgrade had it uses in ME1.

i love how much of a hypocrite you are. In other threads you whine about people saying ME2 is more of a RPG than ME1 while you always have to say some snide remark after anyone says something about ME1 they disapprove of.

No I just say a snide remark when someone starts playing a game for maybe an hour or so to make a judgement call. ME1 had it's flaws. So did ME2.

Idk if this has been said in almost 100 pages of posting but this is my take on weapon upgrades.

Do i think its perfect in ME2? no. but do i prefer it in ME1? no. what i thought was really done well in this game is armor. having to buy different pieces and mix-and-match to get the effects you wanted (in addition to changng the look) made my armor feel very personal by the end of the game. So.....

Why not do the same with weapons? keep some of the universal/passive upgrades like in this game but also have 3-4 changeable parts slightly affecting the appearance but not so much that its unrecognizable. e.g. I have a sniper rifle and I can give it either A) a modified accelerator, for +x% weapon damage. or B) a larger heatsink, for +x% clip size. Give each gun two or three different choices between two or three different parts and three or four of each weapon type... well you get the idea.

1:  Collecting ammo outside of combat is boring and kills the tempo of the game.  If I'm in combat and I have to run to scoop up more ammo it can be exhilierating; but once all my enemies are dead I wish the game would just automatically collect all the Ammo in the immediate area for me.

2:  Heavy weapons are a lot of fun; but I'm always afraid to use them because power cells are a limited commodity.  So I rarely use them and continually pick up power cells that get turned into credits simply because I'm uncomfortable with the fact that I could run out (the same goes for medigel).  Rationally I know I could use the heavy weapons more; but my subconscious demands I horde my power cells, lest they be needed later. Thus I don't get the enjoyment out of the heavy weapons that I could be,  So I suggest you give the player access to a ship upgrade which automatically gives the player a full loadout of powercells and medigel at the start of each mission.  That way I could use them in confidence; because even if I run out on the current mission, I know I can always get more.

3:  Let the player sell rescources for credits.  Having such a scarce quantity of credits in the game is very annoying.  I'm broke all the time in real life, I don't need that experience from a videogame.  Letting us sell rescources would ensure that the player can easily acquire enough credits to buy every item in the game so long as they put in the time.  Being unable to acquire everything no matter how much effort I put in just because the programmers decided that they didn't want me to have it all, is very frustrating.  In ME1 the economy gave us way more credits than we could ever need; but in ME2 you've gone way too far in the opposite direction and I much preffered being ridiculously wealthy in ME1 to being the eternally destitute capatain of the most advanced ship in the galaxy.

4:  I'm sure you've heard this a million times; but make the mineral scanning either faster and/or less boring.   Simply cutting the amount of resources the upgrades cost in half would make things a hell of a lot less frustrating.  Furthermore, if you combined that with the ability to sell rescources it would serve to eliminate both player frustration at the slow pace of mining and still reward the player who goes overboard with it.

5:  Give the player more ways to earn credits and resources.   There are a lot of possibilities, it could be minigames like the turret game on Tuschanka,  a Gambling minigame like Paazak in KOTOR (I loved Paazak and would be perfectly content if you just copied it straight into ME2 and renamed it Turian Poker or what not),  respawning mercenary missions, or a gladitorial arena or VR games like the ones in the poorly executed but conceptually sound Pinnacle Station DLC for ME1.

6:  Provide the player with some combat missions or scenarios which are randomly generated and always available.  Unlike ME1, the combat system in ME2 is robust enough to prove continually entertaining so it would be nice to have an opportunity for combat that was always readily available.  That way Mass Effect would always have something unexpected for the player to do in a way which mimics the greatest appeal of online multiplayer.  For example you might have a board which lets Shepard choose between various generic mercenary or Alliance missions which have a number of random variables. The simplest way to do this would be to have a number of different settings which could be occupied by various different kinds of enemies and combined with various conditions or enviormental factors.  For example you might start by choosing what map the mission would be played on (Jungle, Spacestation, etc.), then picking the orientation of the map  (Normal or Reversed), then the enemy type (Bloodpack, Geth, ect.),  then the Enemy AI (Defensive, Very Aggressive, etc.) and you'd have a basic mission.  Throw in the occassional aesthetic modifier (rain, night, red tinted sunlight, etc.) and the occassional gameplay modifier (timelimit, duststorm, sun burn through shields, etc.) and the player could play a long time before they ran into a duplicate.

7:  Give us some quick gladitorial style combat scenarios which are randomly generated and always available.  Like my above proposal; but with smaller maps and fought against a team of very powerful boss like enemies.  Say for example you might fight a Bloodpack affiliated team comprised of 2 Krogan Warlords with shields, armor, and flamethrowers and  a biotic Krogan Battlemaster with barrier, armor, and a shotgun.

8:  Sporadically impliment some vehicle sections into the main campaign as in ME1 rather than releasing them as DLC.   Despite the problems with the MAKO's handling in ME1, it did provide a refreshing change of pace from time to time during some of the larger missions (the uncharted world were where it really faltered).   I don't want vehicles in every mission; but three or four vehicle sections during the main campaign alongside a few during side missions would help keep things fresh.

9:  I like the ammo powers in ME2; but I would like you guys to bring back some of the modular weapon and armor upgrades from ME1.  I miss the ability to tweak my guns to my liking (improve accuracy, damage, clip size, etc.).  Additionally, it was nice to be able to tweak my armor without having to change its appearance.

10:  For the love of God give me some more control over my squad's appearance.
In ME1, I had dozens of different armors I could equip my squad with, while in ME2, I get one alternate skin (not even an alternate model, just a bloody skin) which I have to unlock.   That doesn't cut the mustard.   I don't mind squad armor being only aesthetic; but I need more control over those aesthetics.   I want a couple different armor models (3 would cut it) for each squadmate with a wide variety of skins for each model.   In ME1 I had my squad all decked out in Green Camo to match mine and I liked it.  In ME2 I have to walk around with a woman wearing leather suspenders held on by nipple clamps and I don't like it (no complaints about Miranda though, she's looking mighty fine).  I'm always in favor of creativity so feel free to go nuts with character design (as you did with Jack); but if you do give the player an alternative so that they can change her damn clothes if they think she looks like a post apocalyptic methhead.

PS:  Alternate (but purely aesthetic) skins for weapons would also be nice.  I miss my stylish black SPECTRE gear from ME1.

My thoughts:

I enjoyed the story, however I felt that the recruiting/loyalty missions detracted from the experience and the overarching story of the trilogy. Please, in ME 3 either remove them entirely in favor of ME 1's 'join as you go along' style of recruitment, or interconnect the recruitment/loyalty missions with the 'Stop the Reapers' plot.

I really enjoyed having the customizable armor, however I would like to see a larger variety of pieces, with a larger variety of effects.

While an interesting concept, I preferred ME 1's leveling up system, because you could spend individual points. On several occasions, I found myself stuck with 2 or 3 left over points that I couldn't use on the abilities I wanted because they required more points than what I had.

Finally, while I enjoyed the ME 2 equipment system, I would have liked a greater variety of weapons.

Well speak to "Kelly Chambers" some more, since she will feed your fishes for you. Just takes a bit of dialogue. After some time hass passed (if you keep up the dialogues with her) she will ask you if she could feed the fishes for you ;)
You can always rebuy the fishes if they die, so therefore its okay to get the "automatic feeder" after a while ingame, since if the fishes have died before getting Kelly to feed them, you can rebuy them anyway...

EDIT: Better to work for the "automatic feeding", than have it from scratch. More realistic that way, and it feels like the game is constantly EVOLVING and changing, even though its a small thing.
For example:
It would suck if we got all armors and armors from scratch. Its always a great feeling when you know that your character is evolving, as well your surroundings.
