*Spoilers*

You never really see the kill-shot of anything being beheaded in cut-scenes. If you kill Loghain, they show you Anora being showered in his blood. My guess? They didn't want to deal with figuring the animation on the head rolling.

I'm thinking of Duncan re-appearing as a ghost in front of Alistair.

"Alistair, you must go to the swamps in the Kingdom of Antiva, there you will find the Jed- Grey Warden master Yoddle. Only then you will be able to defeat the Dark Si-I mean Blight. The Maker will be with you, always."

I'm one of those who if you don't see the death happen, there's still the chance it didn't. Didn't see Duncan's head get chopped off, so there's still the chance it didn't play out that way.

For example, to geek out for a minute, season 7 of Buffy. Episode that involves the Bringer sneaking up behind Giles, swinging the axe with inches away from Giles's neck, and then the screen cuts to black. An episode or two later, Giles is still alive.

Nothing's official unless it's shown... or there's a blood splatter.

Repeat after me:

Duncan is dead.
Duncan is a corpse.
Duncan is pushing up daisies.
Duncan met his maker.
Duncan shuffled off this mortal coil.

But the beard lives on...

And on the seventh day, the Maker created the Beard, and he was all like "hey Andraste checketh out this uber-beard...."

I think we COULD see him in the future. Maybe in Awakening. We never did find his body, and if the darkspawn were smart enough to figure out Cailan was the human king and crucified him, they probably knew Duncan was an important Grey Warden and did something to him.

Sad ending for him either way, the good ol' axe in the face. :'(

Yes, I was hoping to find his body in Return to Ostagar and was very disappointed that I didn't. Trust me, though, uber beard or not, Duncan did indeed bite the bullet...uh, axe.

I burned the beard.

And seriously, I think the Darkspawn Recognized him, and halted the Blow. To Quite Niall: I bet he wishes he were dead. (think Architect)

I did not read the book but I lost respect for Duncan after he killed Ser Jory. I understand his position but I can't help feeling there is a better way to handle the situation.

As for Loghain, he is a politician through and through.. What he did was right, but the King is not... er.. king-calible.. He may very well be thinking of the greater good.

and let out the secret of the Grey Wardens? Duncan have to kill Ser Jory that is why the secret remain a secret

To all Duncan-lovers out there, i will offer closure and comfort to your unresty souls. I assure you; Duncan did not die. This is confirmed by a very good friend of mine who saw the battle, who was IN the battle.
The thing is, there was another recruit - a secret one, one that was recruited only months before. She fought bravely by his side upon till the very last moment when the darkspawn alpha came to cleave Duncan's head in two. In that split second, this recruit released a wave of energy, transporting her and Duncan to an alternate universe far and beyond Ferelden and Thedas.
You might have seen him, you might have heard of him. He will never admit it, but he now serves mankind in a different way. Under the name Chuck Norris, he fights evil and bad-ass bad guys for the sake of humanity!

One word, Epic.

No no... I saw this one.

Duncan's body gets picked up by this space chick that vaguely looks like michael jackson wearing spandex. She says she works for some 3-headed dog corporation or something and they fix him up. He's good as new, basically, but his face has lava scars. It's ok though, because the Warden ship can fix it if he's vain enough. Which, of course, he is. Primadonna.
