My Paragon remained faithful to Liara, and this will be the file I transfer to ME3. I think there will be much more to her story and I am interested in seeing how it plays out. I hope BW has something major in store for those who stay faithful. Although, my Renegade went with Miranda so I could see how "cheating" works out too.

It helped that I didn't really like any of the FemShep options, so I didn't even try to pursue romance. I loved that while on the way to the relay I just sat in my room alone with my picture of Kaidan (even if he was a total **** to me on Horizon).

In my mind, my Shepard (male Paragon) was in love with Liara, so I had him stay faithful. I only wish there had been a "It's not that your not hot, I just have a girlfriend" conversation option with some of the potential romance-characters.
My female Shepard (Renegade) was with Kaiden. I'd going to have her want to get back together with him until he chews her out for joining with Cerberus, at which point she will consider them broken up.

There was nothing to acknowledge that Shepard still loves his/her LI or that he/she still loves Shepard except a little kiss and a little picture

That's just the way Shep rolls. It's not like the ME2 LI's are some deeply emotional bond. It's just a "hey let's **** before we die".
Except for Tali, she's a sweetheart.

This scene really had me steamed. I was happy to have my Shep move on. I've never been one to sit around pining (met my husband of 15 years on a date two weeks after my ex boyfriend broke up with me). I wouldn't let my character do it, either. Especially considering that her lifespan was not expected to be incredibly long with the mission she was undergoing, and that she had already died once. A wishy washy email won't put its arms around you or curl up beside you in the night.

Stayed failthful to Liara (as much as I wanted Tali). My second play through character they romanced Ashley but no way am I staying faithul to her.

Couldn't do it. Went in going to do it but in my first playthrough Tali took me by surprise and I couldn't help myself ... particularly when Ashley annoyed both me and my character. Tali was much more enjoyable than Ashley was anyway so I figured no big deal.
Started a second playthrough on Insanity ... actually imported the same ME1 Level 60 character as I did my first playthrough and was going to remain faithful but figured since I was still going paragon and this playthrough was mostly for Insanity alone I'd just see what it was like with Miranda. Besides, Wrex is dead for this character so I'd like to see him again.
I'm guessing I'll be doing two more playthroughs at least. One of those will be an imported Level 51 female Shep (my sole renegade I think) and then I'll stay faithful to Ashley in the fourth one.

Garrus was too much of a good friend to be anything else.

Am not too far into the game yet (only to Horizon) but am really torn between remaining faithful to Liara or getting with Tali (who I *totally* would have gotten with in the first game if she'd been available). I'm going to have the same debate when I start a fem!Shepard... stick with Kaiden (who was a total sweetie in ME1) or get with Thane or Garrus? Decisions decisions...
(and yes, I intend to have multiple save files, but I sort of want to use just one going forward per gender, otherwise I'll end up with fifty million games on the go, each one with a different romance, different responses to missions, different plotline, etc etc)

As far as I'm concerned, Ash blew it on Horizon. My shep is a bit of a sci-fi paladin, to be sure, but it doesn't take accusations of betrayal mildly.
On one hand, he has a former squeeze who drop kicked him after he'd saved a colony and come back from the dead, simply on the basis of who he's operating with.
On the other, he has a an interested genetically perfect woman who throws away her past alliegences to dodgy groups the second they directly conflict with Shep's morals.
It's not rocket science deciding on which to be with.
