I have all loyalties, all ship upgrades, all personal upgrades that I could afford.

Everyone lived. Except Mordin. WTF.

Help?

Send him to escort the crew back to the ship, or have him in your party.

Had it happen for me on a playthrough.

he seems destined to die in a firefight situation...

I never picked Mordin for anything, no lead/hack/squad or anything and he lived. Just make sure you have him in a well-lead group.

I had him in the firefight and he lived. There might be some random element involved in who lives and dies

Send him home with the crew, he likes musical theatre, he thus has no place in battle.

Mordin lived for me

I lost Thane, Jack, and Legion!

All but Jack were loyal

He has never lived for me during the fire fight. Renegade / paragon and I had his loyalty.

I always send him back to escort the crew. I never have causalities and everyone lives.

Mordin dies randomly I think. I put him in my team and that seemed to work, but I only tried it once. Might send him back with the crew in the future. I typically send Grunt with the crew to make sure they have someone tough, but Mordin would be good enough? Ok.

I took Tali and Mordin to fight the final boss specifically because I thought they were ones who belonged the least in a sustained firefight. As the main character, Shepard and those with him enjoy a certain level of immortality.

weirdly enough no one died, i exhaustively upgraded the hand guns for him, and i never touched him in the final mission. he made it through.

Tali did the vents (man i was panicking for her, trying to race to the next valve without dying myself.
Garrus as leader on both times,
Samarra for barrier
Jacob did the escort.

when Samarra were escorting me i took Legion and Grunt.

in the final fight i took Legion and Tali (seemed fitting)

twas epic. everyone made it out.

Interesting, he's never died with me (beat it twice so far), and I didn't have him in my squad or as the escort. There are other factors we aren't thinking about it. I HIGHLY doubt it's random. Then it would make no sense to prepare so much, gain everybody's loyalty and choose correct positions for each squadmember if there are elements that are random.

Loyalty isn't everything. Make sure you pick the right people for the jobs as well.

Mordin lived for me, and I never picked him for anything. Just don't stick him in a group being led by Jack or something.

I had everyone live. I used tali as the tech in the tube, figured my LI couldnt die. Samara as the biotic shield they said she had the power of a mathriach in the upgrades and well she even killed all collector on our way out with biotics and no one got killed by the swarn. I sent zaeed to escort the crew they all lived. Garrus tells you how much he feels like the crew respect him and are polite to him during the game so i figured he would lead the other party which he did and when he got shot he was still alive. No one died.

Its not random you have to listen to what the crew tells you. If you pick miranda for exemple and she has jack in her group for the second group miranda will die. If you take miranda as the biotic shield someone will die she is not powerful enough as a biotic. If you put jacob in the vent like he volonteer for he will die hes not a good enough tech and wont be able to hack quickly enough and will get shot when the door close, tali hacked the door in 5 second and it closed with no one having to cover fire or anything. My shepard even said something like: Nice job tali i knew you wouldnt let me down.

Listen to what the crew says about each other during the game and youll know what job they should be doing depending on who respec them and who doesent, what are their skills etc.

Maybe you have to have researched Mordin's prototype omnitool upgrade for him to survive the firefight?

He was defending the base in a group led by Jacob.

Based on the stuff I read today, I'm now guessing that Mordin's survival hinges on how long you take for the final battle. If you're quick, you can make it out with everyone alive. I still think that personal upgrades matter, and maybe even the level of the entire party.

I read secondhand that some Dev said that the minimum you need for full survival is 4 loyal people, and 3 if you sacrifice the rest of your crew. I'm guessing the set-up is:

1st and 2nd time Squad Leader: Loyal Miranda (or maybe "best leader")
Specialist: Loyal Tali or Legion (maybe one is better than other)
Biotic Barrier: Loyal Jack or Samara (maybe one is better than other)
Escort crew back: Loyal anyone else (or no one if you sacrifice crew)

Then for final battle, take two loyal people with you and rush through it in record time (maybe playing it on easy?)

I had a loyal Mordin and defeated the last sequence pretty quickly; he still died lol.:pinched:

Didn't send Mordin back or take him into the final fight but he still lived. Maybe you have to upgrade his Omni tool?

mordin died for a reason, its probably if you picked the wrong people to be the specialist and team leaders

What bugs me is I try so hard to kill of Zaeel and he refuses to die!

Its so fustrating! Lose Legion but that POS lives???? Grrrr

Actually at least Zaeel gets a negative responce from me, I dont know rest of crew well enough (even after loyalty quest) to really care if they live or die!

This game really needed a standard Bioware influence system with background stories.

Kinda like DA:O, you have to build up influence beforre they trust you with their loyalty quests rather then it just happening at a certain time!

LOL, if people had to actually work and think to gain influence, this game would be so much deeper and interesting and I bet more then a few folks would gamble on not having loyalty!

Getting loyalty right now is just to easy! There no challenge to it so its cheepened over all! Kinda meaningless in the grand scheme of things

Are you changing up who you bring to the final battle at all?

I *think* it's time based, but it may also be based on who you bring with you on your squad.

If I had to guess weather or not time had something to do with survival I would have to go with no but, based on my first play through, it does seem possible. My anti-material sniper rifle made pretty short work of the Reaper Embryo and everyone lived.

I took my sweet time with the Human Reaper at the end, yet everyone in my squad lived.
