Dear Bioware,

Firstly, congratulations on an absolutely superb game. I will be shocked if ME2 hasn't won several GOTY awards by the end of the year.

I just wanted to post a quick request for ME3 regarding strong language. I know the issue of bad language has already been discussed at length here :-
http://meforums.biow...hlight=language
... and there are many who feel strongly on both sides of the argument.

However, leaving all moralistic judgements and comparisons (between violence/sex/language etc.) aside, the simple fact is that many people DO find bad language (particularly the 'F' word) to be more offensive than the other more mature content in Mass Effect 2. There's no logical rationale for this - I suspect it stems more from cultural rather than moral/ethical reasons.

I was just wondering if it might be possible for you to consider a "language filter" option for ME3 if this trend towards bad language is going to continue? (There was certainly a big increase from ME1->ME2.). That would help to keep happy both those who enjoy hearing strong language and those who don't.

Congratulations once again on a stunning game!

To be honest, I was expecting a LOT more foul language with all the big stinks people made about it. i thought it was rather tame compared to what everyone was saying Bioware had done to it.

A few f-bombs here and there, but nothing too constantly foul.

Good idea I guess, but opposing profanity is so prudish and archaic.

This.

If offensive language, directed between pixels offends you then you should heed the "15" age limit. In fairness the "F" word has lost most of its impact these days as swearing is so commonplace. I havn't really noticed it in ME so far. I'd prefer they swore "naturally" rather than how some people must assume they should.

"Shephard we're under attack!"
"Good gravy, are you sure old chap?"
"Yes, yes! the ship is shaking can't you feel that!?"
"By george, I think the old chap is right."

I mean there's a limit to how silly people should get with not liking swearing. Knowing when to use it in real life is the key. Whining about it in a game, is ridiculous.

IMO there wasn't enough profanity. I wanted more

I didn't want any more profanity than was provided honestly. it achieved a nice balance between realism and hollywood. Though it's perfectly reasonable for someone to want a profanity filter, and i fully support it.

So it's fine to blow people into little chunks but harsh language is a no-no?

I thought the 'naughty words' sutied this section of the game. with the type of characters your picking up, and the genrral desparation of the situation. thats what i think anyways.....

extra coding for useless crap, Bioware don't bother. Anyone who is offended by words shouldn't be playing M rated games that tell you right on the box that there will be profanity in it. It's like buying a porno and asking the makers to put in optional mosaics. grow up or don't play end of story. No need to tax Bioware with useless crap.

Dont' forget the whole concept of the ultra nationalist group (cerberus) as well as MASS GENOCIDE (Reapers) but its naughty language and sex that is the major concern in this series.<_<

Harden the **** up sunshine. So, it's alright to allude to grossly sexual situations through suggestive images and innuendo throughout, but someone using language that befits their character is a nono?

Wow. The extent of some people's politically correct hypocrisy is mind boggling.

It's a mature game, if you aren't mature to handle the content, stay away.

While I support the adult nature of everything in the game, I see absolutely no reason to be so hostile to someone wanting a filter for the language. That sort of thing is pretty easy to implement.

For me at least, its more about the fact that the people complaining about naughty language have no problems with the fact that the game is based around a story of genocide and violence in general.

Some people are silly like that I guess, but it really isn't an unreasonable or particularly difficult request. No reason for hostility.

Bad language? Well, if language was bad, then why do we speak at all if at any moment we can offend someone?

This topic makes me sick. :(

not really you have to code it for every cut scene that has it, then you have to code it for every subtitle in every language.  then code it to work on the options menu.  it could take a day out of work that can be better used for some thing else.

You shoot, burn, electrocute, freeze, smash, torture (with pain inducing biotics) people in this game but you can't hear a "f..u_C,,k" or a "s.h.i.t" in the process, come on.

That's really not that much production time. It's a reasonable request. The hostility is unnecessary.

it's not easy to implement, it means ppl having to go through VA work and digitally apply a "beep" to it. if ME 2 was like DA: O then you can create a ( fairly large ) chunk of code to find and censor certain words since DA : O is all text based
