I was pretty anti-Cerberus to begin with, but seeing the efficiency of their backing/funding, minus TIM's inconvenient traps, it looks to me that going with Cerberus makes the most sense. I'm not sure how this will affect my main PC with Kaidan in romance, but it's sure as hell better than dealing with the Council and the stupidity they continue displaying.

In my first playthrough, no one's coming back, i did the death ending, just to see.

But in my main, if I can swing it, I would love to be able to keep on Garrus, Legion and Tali, and Miranda, esp. if Kaidan won't return as second, possibly third in command. Also, I would love Thane to stick around as well, but unless he's in a romance, or not cured, godforbid, he'll probably return to sticking around with Kolyat on the Citadel or a nice, healthy dry planet. Or remain with Shepard, who knows? Jacob would most likely stay as well, and I don't see anyone else staying. Liara would definitely return, even if Cerberus is still in the picture. I just hope we get o help bring down SB and meet Feron :P

Maybe when Liara takes down the Shadow Broker you can take the remains of his empire to build your own against the Reapers.

I don't know how it would work but the idea of acting as an autonomous entity is appealing.

I like the Liara funding Shepard and Shepard acts autonomously idea as well.

I'd also like to see her take down the Shadow Broker with the help of Shepard and her crew.  This would make a great DLC mission.   Oh yeah.

I also want to remove all of the Cerberus logos from the Normandy, paint it all black with skulls and crossbones on the sides.  That would look sweet!

Storyline wise I have to agree with the idea of holding off a reaper invasion. You can't kill them all off though, they are too good a bad guy to kill off totally. ME4 will come it just won't have Shepard. The DA:O comparison of building a fleet is good. I think though that the devs should take a page out of Star Control 2. I think adding a time factor, letting the story span a couple of years. (Fleets need to be build.) And incorporating the search for resources in order to build your fleet. Adding a little bit of strategy to the game would be cool.

I also want there to be some significant choices, like 2 planets get attacked and you can only save one, and the story changes because of it.

Your squad would have to be totally new in ME3, since the devs don't know who survived your suicide mission in ME2. Unless they have specific code of this person only dies if Shepard doesnt survive the mission either (invalidating the import to ME3) then you need a whole new squad in ME3. The surviving Squadmember would make cameos. Stuff like Tali is chosen to be an Admiral. Grunt return to the Krogan. Zaeed return to lead the Blue Suns. Legion returns to the Geth. Stuff like that, you will do missions and they will help you in order to build a fleet.

Stuff I want to see happen in ME3:

1. FEMALES! - It is time for the Art Department to make Turian, Salarian, and Krogan Females.

2. A central base of operations that is not a ship. The citadel was sort of an operations base in the first game. Make it a lost Pre-Prothean Deep Space Base. Tie it in with Tali's recruitment mission. Haelstrom sun goes nova, leaving the space station at its center.

3. Joker and EDI as squad members. Another tie in with this space station is that Joker finds a power suit of sort. It heals his condition while in the suit and gives him special abilities. EDI would get an Avatar, like how the computer in the TV show "Andromeda" had an avatar. EDI would fly whatever ship you have.

4. Squad members interacting with each other. The devs should consider looking at the WingCommander Series (3 and 4 especially ) and see how they did the crew interaction. The bar scenes were squad members were siting together and you join them were always very cool. In WC4 you actually had a romance sub-plot of one of your pilots and a tech, when he was killed in a mission later on it made it that much more vivid. Shore leave would be cool too, meaning that if you planned or dock at a friendly port, you would pick your two squad mates but the rest of the squad would be standing around at the port as well, and you could have conversations with them. I think it would add great color if you could see your squad lounging in Afterlife when you dock at Omega.

4. More missions were you send the rest of the squad to do something. Also Large squad engagements would be cool too. Stuff like you pick 2 squadmembers to man turrets while you are on the ground. It would be cool to have a fire fight with your entire squad too. Maybe make that you can only control 2 squadmembers via direct commands but it would still be cool to fight of something like 5 or 6 large mechs with your entire squad of 11 that you have. Picking squadmembers for side missions so they are not available to you like on Virmire should be more of as well. I mean you only take 2 squad members along to the collector ship even though you have a much larger squad available, they should do something even if it is only cosmetic.

Combat and Item wise:

More Customization! ME2 eliminated the clunky item system in ME1, which is a good thing. They did it at the expense of customization though. Mods need to come back. Not as an item but rather as a selectable on any weapon once you have the mod. If you take the same weapon load out screen you have today, when you select a weapon you then go to a screen where you can select from the mods available.

More weapons as well. The research upgrade system we have now is okay, but I think it is cooler to get a new gun that is 10% better then the previous, then research an upgrade. A mixture of both would be cooler.

Bring back omni-tools and Bioamps as well as findable items and have mods for them as well.

More quantitative info. ME1 you could tell if Armor X was better then Armor Y. Now I just get 10% better with and Ablative IV upgrade. And while the customization of squadmates in ME1 went to one extreme, it went to another in ME2. I think an effort should be made that squadmates improve as the story progresses. I think that having 5 or 6 different skins for your squadmates and that they changes to these as the story progresses without your influence would be cool.

Anyways, these are my musings.

Don't know if this has been suggested but...here goes. Mass Effect 2, in my opinion, is about building an army. It's subtle but it's there. I am not talking about recruting 10 people in ME 2. I am talking about for ME 3. Think about it, if you are a good speaker, the quarians of the Migrant Fleet are on your side. If you save the geth in Legion's loyalty mission you have all of those geth potentially on your side. You have to think Samara knows other Justicars. If you do what Liara wants perhaps she can get you one of those Asari commando units that few humans have ever faced. If you can smooth things over with Anderson and Ashley/Kaidan you have to think the Alliance may lend you some help even if it is only the people who go rogue based on Ashley/Kaidan/Anderson's words. Garrus has proved that he can build a squad and if you let Garrus' squadmate live in his loyalty mission maybe he can get some mercs. Perhaps if you kill Zaeed's enemy he can get the Blue Suns on your side. The Urdnot clan seems to have a lot of faith in you if you take out the Thresher Maw and Wrex likes you anyway, if you let him live in ME 1. Probably be a lot easier to convince them too if you kept that cure to the genophage in Mordin's side quest. Here are some others that are possible but not very likely. What about Aria. She has a lot of connections and she owes you a lot more than some smuggled goods for saving her ass. C-Sec could pitch in considering Bailey seems to be very fond of you. Perhaps there are some thankful Batarians/Turians from Omega that would help you since you cured the plague there.

I could see you starting off the third game as a freelancer of sorts, and you would gain alliances as you played along.

ME3 will probably be a lot like Dragon Age. You have to get a big army together to fight some big bad guys. As mentioned above, desicions from both Me1 (like the Rachni) and ME2 (the quarians and the geth) will affect this.

Paragon players that destroyed the Collector base will probably have to rely on these allies more than Renegade players that saved the base and sided with TIM. The Paragon is the galactic uniter while the Renegade facilitates Cerberus and humanity in taking over the galaxy.

Let's see...Shepard sort of PO'd Cerberus, and isn't on great terms with the alliance, but he has many great things going for him if he's Paragon. Liara may be nearly as powerful as the Shadowbroker, Wrex is basically the king of the Krogans, Tali may become an admiral, Legion has some influence over the Geth, You've saved the galaxy twice, the Rachni Queen owes you everything, Anderson is in your back pocket, and I don't know how many powerful criminal types owe you big.

Shepard has his enemies, but his loyalty branch of comrades and friends is growing--everyone still owes him. Shepard may be the most influential and powerful single person in the ME galaxy. That makes him dangerous to everyone that doesn't see things his way.

I think you're selling Grunt's commitment to Shepard a bit short. Shepard is his Battlemaster, and his enemies are Grunt's enemies.

I love the notion that in ME3 you'll finally be your own person. Even a reaper landing on the Council's head didn't get them believing you. Cerberus can't be trusted.

But I'm not worried. I'm not alone. I want to see the Reaper's collective jaws drop (or whatever they have) when I show up for that final battle leading the Geth, the Migrant Fleet, the Rachni, and the unified Krogan forces (thanks Wrex!) to rain hell on them.

Maybe the Council, Alliance and even Cerberus might get off their collective arses to help too. Should be glorious.

I think it's obvious who will be involved in ME3 - the Shadow Broker. They've been building up to it for two games now, and I think he or she will play a MAJOR role in the third game.

He will obviously be involved, and part of it may be finally taking him out, but I can't see him being the major source of funding for Shep, unless it taking him out with Liara and stealing his creds.

Good point. I can totally see Grunt answering the call when Shepard needs him, just not sure if he would stay on the Normandy for the interim. I can see him heading home and coming back when Shep needs him.

alliance-council gave me their backs, cerberus brought me to life again, gave me a new ship, new partners and all the necessary resources to obtain revenge and erase menaces.

new hope to save humanity.

Methods.. as far as im concern they let me make choises at free will without brain remote or killswichs. they made wrong things in the past, so do I..and so is currently making the alliance ignoring true menace and letting entire human colonies dissapear.

I want the option of still being a cerberus member in ME3, no betray by TIM, and be able to shoot UDINA and that turian council member.

This might be the consequence of that two-second meeting you had with the council.  If they gave you back your Spectre status, you're good-to-go the second you break ties with Cerberus.  Of course, if you didn't give TIM the finger and kept the Collector base, you're still fine.  I don't really see Shepard having any trouble with having backers.  Hell, he could tell the Alliance to go screw themselves and be a full-time Spectre if he wanted to, since Spectres and their ships are on the Council's payrole

A thought on the Shadowbroker in ME3.

What if the Shadowbroker is actualy a Reaper? Or Reaper agent like the collectors.

Hmm.

Based on my choices, heres what I think is gonna be pulling in my corner...

1) Alliance will turn to me once they see the huge fleet of Reapers bearing down on them. Some how I Told U So doesn't quite cover it, but 'll say it anyway.

2)Geth Armada, Legion is loyal to mel, hes my mechanical buddy.

3)Rachni fleet. The Queen owes me one, and I plan to collect.

4)I may have alittle pull in Cerberus still do to my loyal crew, Jacob and Miranda. Not much though and once TIM catches wind of it he'll shut it down.

5)Clan Urdnot, Wrex and I are long friends and Grunt is loyal to me and to his new clan.

6)The Migrant Fleet, The quarians might be alittle on edge about my associations for with the Geth, but I pushed for peace between them, and I think the overseer has a crush on me.

7)Zhu's Hope, all of the colonist are still alive and kicking.

8)Zaeed and Garrus may have ome pull in the underworld, ones the former leader of one of the greatest merc groups in Omega, and the other is the one person all merc groups fear.

9)Councilor Anderson, Admiral Hackett, and Kaiden will bring the full force of the Alliance to my side at a moments notice.

Despite everything, I feel confident. I killed one already, whats a few thousand more?

I suspect Garrus may stay with you, by this point, he is like your best friend. Mordin might stick around, but Thane...might not do too good. Unless, the third one begins not long after the second one.

Thane more likely will survive his illness. If you read all the messages you get in your private terminal on of them mentions that a previous Drell had the same illness and was cured. This could possibly happen to Thane. No promises, just want to have Liara at my side again. I remained loyal to her through ME 2

I hope you get to chose your intelligence in ME 3. Saving the Council didn't directly affect who you spent the second game working with/for in the second so I hope Keeping or Destroying the Collector base is similar. I saved the base, but I didn't do it for Cerberus I did it so that he can provide me and therefore everybody else, better weapons against the Reapers. The decision at the base didn't really seem to be about choosing who you work for but about the technology you can use. I'd hate for it to have been a decision for something I wasn't even aware of or given any hint to. If keeping the base meant you were forced to abandon the Citadel Council then why didn't anyone in my party warn me?

Legion can go home anytime without leaving the Normandy. The hardware will stick around but from what I understand they talk to the main hub often.

Even if you blew up the base I don't think your fully out of Cerberus' control yet. TIM thinks these things through. (right?)

Tali is an interesting case. If she's exiled, she might stay with you. If not, well, there IS a spot on the Admiralty Board...

More than that, whether she stays with you or not , you have the whole Admiral  Xen being a megalomaniac thing to deal with. I think the Quarians and Geth are going to play a more important role in ME 3.
