In ME2 so far, for me, there were no turning points where you had to tread carefully and make some big decisions.

Now, I haven't beaten ME2, taking my time,

[SLIGHT SPOILER, HIGHLIGHT TO SEE]
I have just got off the collector ship
[END SPOILER]

and I now I'm just doing the loyalty missions for the crew.

But so far, the game has  been very linear and I hardly had any decisions that would make me stop and think what to do, unlike in ME1 where you can dictate the fate of some of your crew members. Is it going to change? Because right now it feels like I'm playing Half Life in terms of story linearity.

There is at the end. Sort of like the Counsel thing in ME1. Well, and the Virmire thing too I guess lol.

There were 2 important courses of action on Virmire and 1 in the end in ME1.. so far for me, in ME2 I've yet to come across one..

Infiltrator: I've felt the same thing. I've got a fair bit further than you, and am probably not too far from the end, but I simply do not feel the weight of any decisions like I did in ME1. I really had to stop and think what to do with the Rachni Queen, on Virmire, the Feros colonists, and even smaller side missions made me feel like my decisions would have consequences. I am yet to feel this in any substantive way.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really enjoying playing ME2: now I've finally gotten used to the combat system I'm feeling more at home.

One thing I've noticed, and I could be way off but this is how it feels to me: there is more dialogue in this one, and you can ask way more questions during discussions with people, but I feel this has been added to make it appear like you're involved in the story in lieu of the choice-shaping of ME1. I'm aware I have to make a choice at the end, but the lack of it throughout the rest of the game has made me a bit :(

catabuca - agreed totally.

ME2 has far, FAR superior and enjoying combat, which is great, but I think they really took out the weight of the decisions this time around, at least so far.

I have the options to influence how my teammates react and behave on their loyalty missions, but the decisions just feel so trivial. Just like giant GOOD and BAD buttons that hardly influence anything. I always know what's going to happen regardless, and I always know no one of importance is going to end up dead, or leave, so it just diminishes the immersion.
