Before I start out let me list my specs:
AMD Phenom 9600 Quard-core 2.31 GHz
6 GB RAM
Windows 64
nVidia 8800 GTS 256
Now I know that I don't have the greates system but here are some of the problems I have encountered:
1. Most annoyingly, the load times take forever. I have had to wait up to 5 minutes for a large area to load.
2. The frame rate will suddenly drop, in and out of combat.
3. When in the overview mode, the screen will pan down for no reason.
I know I could spend a lot of money to up grade my system, and that may solve the problem, but I shouldn't have to. My specs are well above the min requrements, most fit the reccommended. And I am running on the lowest setting and still having these problems.
Is anyone else experiencing these problems?
What are other people doing that is working for them?
My issues with DAO

HI,
First, i'm sorry that you having issue. I will do the best i can to help.
1. The load times and frame rate
a. What driver are you using?
b. what is running in the background?
2. The screen panning in overview mode, i'm not really sure what you mean; maybe i'm just being dense, not an uncommon occurrence, but could you be more specific?

My specs aren't as good as some of yours and I haven't had any issue with load times. Everything loads pretty fast. I was however having trouble with startup crashes recently.
Specs:
AMD Athlon 64X2 6000+ Dual Core 3.02 GHz
3.25 GB Ram
NVidia GeForce GTS 250 1GB GDDR3
Asus M3A78-EM Motherboard
Windows XP Pro SP3
dx9.0c

1a. I downloaded the newest drivers on the 2nd, the day before I got the game. There might be new drivers, but I doubt it.
1b. I have shut everything off in the background except my anti-virus. Could that be causin the problem?
2. In the middle of battle, if I am in overview mode, the screen moves away from my party.

I have worse specs than you; dual core; 2 gigs memory; but a 9600 1gig memeory vid card. I had problems when first playing the game (plus, it looked pretty terrible). So I got the newest Nvidia driver, defraged my system, ran a full scan with Nortons (found 2 problems), and now it runs pretty darn good (and looks MUCH better). But, the load times still take a couple minutes, but it's minor as far as I'm concered for such a new release.
I hope you get your woking, because it's an incredible game.

So the patch seems to have really worked. It is running much better now, less load time too

the real bottleneck on that PC is the 256mb GPU... the card itself isn't bad, but you're loading an awful lot of data into a very small buffer
