I was hoping this was a joke thread, dude go play ME1 on the xbox and then load ME2.... visually the difference is night & day in favor of ME2.

The textures in ME1 on the 360 look like **** in comparison, it looks like an upscaled xbox game.  I'm baffled at the cynics on this forum.  It's almost like the game has lost it's nicheness so now everyone is trying to find reasons to complain.

I feel sorry for those that can't enjoy this excellent game and follow up to the series.  It's superior in everyway.

This is just my opinion but on the first Mass Effect, I turned that grain filter right off. I just hated it. As textures go this game is so much better. For one thing it doesn't take 15 seconds for the textures to even load, it's seamless. The graphics in this game a much better, not taking anything away from the first game, but we have better tech than we did two years ago.

There's a lot of things wrong with ME2 IMO but the graphics isn't one of them (on the xBox) but I did seen another post complaining about the graphics not being up to the same standard given how much things have evolved between the two games... to each his own I guess.

I am pretty sure there is a grain / film filter check your graphics options.

I do agree with you however that they have definitely broken the overall cinematic / continuous / immersion feeling that made the 1st ME so incredible... the mission complete screens and transitions are sometimes jarring like in a poorly directed movies... there's definitely a step backwards there.

Textures poping and bluring with a hint of pixelated mess was a common problem in mass effect, even on the pc version, and even more on the 360. I play ME2 pc version, I have the textures right under the nose and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that ME2's textures are vastly superior.

Ok, Mehow_pwn, it is your respectable opinion.

I have mine and unfortunatelly I AN NOT HAPPY with Mass Effect 2.

And somehow, I feel that EA has ruined this amazing franchise in favour of its multiplatform strategy.

I tell you this: after seeing ME2, now I am more that sure that it will be released also on PS3.

As it is today, Mass Effect2 on Xbox360 lack of any evidence of a title developed exclusively for the xbox (and PC of course) and it looks more than ever a bland port of the PC version (a la Dragon Age).

Time will tell...

As Bioware removed the inventory and that you have to access your character screen and the journal from the options screen, as opposed to ME 1 pc where you just had to press the corresponding key on the keyboard, I'd say all evidence points to the contrary. ME2 was designed with the xbox 360 in mind. It's a microsoft exclusivity, after all.

I expected you to talk about the "streamlined" RPG elements or mako exploration, I never never ever expected you to say that ME1 looks better than ME2. I too am an xbox 360 owner and I have both games and ME2, at least visually, is on a whole different level of awesomeness.

And the grain filter IS there, not only that, but it's on by default!

And text size I have no issues with, what kind of TV / Size are you using and how far are you sitting from it? What resolution are you on?

For Video setting I am currently using a VGA cable at 1024 x 768.

The same that I have used for Mass Effect 1!

But, at this point, let see:

-) I am the only Xbox user with NO ANTI ALIASING enabled?

-) I am the only one with a virtually ineffective grain filter ?

-) I am the only one with no motion blur?

As a note I have installed both dvd on the hard disk.

Let me know if it is only my issue! Let hope so!

Let me know, maybe it is an issue of my version.

I actually thought they did a pretty good job porting the DA:O to the PS3 anyway... considering much of the gameplay has strong roots in the old school isometric RPG of BG and beyond I think it was pretty incredible actually.

In regards to your graphics issues I highly recommend ditching your strange VGA cable setup and go HDMI.

OMG im so sick of all these ME1 purists panning on ME2 becuze it isnt EXACLTY like the first.SO WHAT if the mako is gone do people really enjoy driving over giant hills and mountains nonstop.SO WHAT if the text is smaller get a biiger tv or just listen closly to the guy that reads the codex.SO WHAT if theres more action theres still plenty of plot and dilaogue scens i dont see whats wrong with the game having more action than the first. SO WHAT if the cidatal smaller id rather explore new worlds than the same one again. sometimes ya just gotta except changes the developers are just experimenting to see how they can improve the game for ME3 and by the way saying the game sucks becuze EA owns bioware is no excuse EA didnt do anything but advertise the game more.

As has been stated, the consoles are using outdated technology now. Hell, I pieced together a computer using discount parts from 3 years ago and it's way more powerful than an xbox. The systems simply can't handle high quality graphics anymore, so they have to be dumbed down a bit. Just wait a couple more years, I'm sure a new generation console will come out with uber graphics.

Thank you for your honest opinion. However, there is a topic for reviews that is sticky'd at the top of this forum. We don't need yet another thread started simply to post your personal review.

No idea about xbox but all that crap (filter, blur etc) is present in PC version.
Also, for proper AA, get a decent PC not that outdated POS that is xbox360.

You are a douche.
I mean, you are soaking wet, totally full.
Did you help develop ME2, is that why you are so pissy?

It's amazing how the only place where I constantly hear whining about Mass Effect 2 is it's own forum.

The really pathetic thing is that it happens about 2-5 times every single day.

This guy is hilarious.
LOL

You sound just like someone who has never played a video game in their life, an EA employee.

“I just don’t get you guys. Who cares about the grain filter? Who cares about the inventory? Who cares about the old game ME and the great atmosphere? Can’t you just be happy with the crappy game we’ve given you?”

Man, gamers are so hard to understand. They want AA, and film grain, and all kinds of extra crap that costs developers time and publishers money. ****s.

Yup, that ought to tell you something.
A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE UNHAPPY WITH THE GAME compared to the old.
It isn’t that fun, you know?

No, not really. Maybe when I get to become a game connoisseur such as yourself I will understand your fine and delicate tastes of gaming.

In the meantime I will step back and allow you to tell us all how a real game works.

very unlikely you're gonna see this game on PS3, ME1 wasn't there for PS3 so why release the title sequel now?

To quote another Sci-Fi Epic you may know...

"I find your lack of faith disturbing."

NOW... I can kinda agree, you also forgot that there is like NOTHING to level up on.

Being an Adept with like, only 2 or 3 powers? WTF!

The level system is retarded... I played through an entire mission with just 40XP to level up, and you only get XP for Missions. Bull.

And the exploration is SEVERELY cut. Remember getting lost whilst strolling the Citadel? No more! The hell is the point of a map, when everything is within 15 yards anyway?

The stores dont have anything NEAR the amount of items and suchas the previous ME.

Face the facts: BioWare is either straying too far from the RPG element, or EA is once again trying to ruin yet another great series. If it comes to that, I'd rather blame EA... I <3 BioWare.

Okay, enough bashing...

ME2 is great in what it raised that ME1 was lacking, planetary exploration (no Mako... fail) is a bit better.
Weapon system, cover system, conversations and so on. The things you spend the MOST time doing, are the things that are the best.

Bioware: Include this: the ability to create a new character, and choose what you "did" in the first. Maybe I dont want to replay Mass Effect 1 just to save the council and see how it plays out for me.

NOTE: I LOVE the mail system, getting an eMail from Samesh Batia made me smile. Returning characters are a big WIN... but sadly, I havent found the Fan yet. I liked that over-stalker-ish Shepard fanatic lol. Conrad i think his name was.

It's tons of fun. The problem seems to be that people expected it to be the same experience and same thing the first one was, and that would be what a real "great disappointment" is. I think a lot of people here are accustomed to traditional RPGs or BioWare RPGs. Mass Effect 2 is more of a hybrid in relation to games like Fallout, Fable, or Oblivion, and it seems like people pissed their pants at the idea of actual challenge in combat or not having meaningless loot and complexity in RPG elements. Everything that was wrong with the first game was improved on in Mass Effect 2, making it a superior game. It just doesn't feel the way the first felt, so people are all up in arms about it like it's the end of the world.

All you do is complain, you must suck at shooting in this game
